For Millennium I Have Waited

"Dad, I'm scared, I can't hatch an egg!"

Twilight Velvet looks down at his little seven year old colt hiding behind his forehooves waiting to be called up to present his magical ability to the two mares and two stallions that would decide his fate. "I'm sure you'll do fine, your mom and I are here for you and we'll stay and watch, just try your best sweetheart."

"Ok dad."

"Dusk Shine, please come to the stage for your magical demonstrations test."

"We love you Dusky."

"I know mom."

As Dusk approached the dragon egg on the stage he saw a very large pony come in the back and slip into the shadows, out of site. He tried to think of a hatching spell on the way up to the egg, but he could only think of spells that could only be preformed by alicorns and the highest level unicorns, he tried to think of something else as he zipped from one side of the cart to another, and then, as he stopped to say sorry for wasting the judges' time he felt a strong surge of magic come through from his core and up to his horn where it pooled until it got bigger and bigger and bigger, and then he saw white for what felt like forever. and he caught a glimpse of the stranger in the back. He was beautiful to say the least, his white coat seemed to glow like an aura was around him, his mane and tail burned like the fires of Tartarus, infinite and bright, his large horn, decorated with a simple gold band with a small ruby embedded in it, rested nobly on his brow, his wings unfolded in shock as he reeled back by the onslaught of magic coming from Dusk.

When the white light burned out the alicorn, as Dusk had observed, came forwards to Dusk and he looked at Dusk, stared into the depths of his violet eyes. Then with a swish of his head he turned the dragon back to a baby, turned his parents and judges back to ponies, and restored the damage done to the tower they all stood in.

"You there, are you his parents?"

"Yes Lord Solaris, I am Night Light and this is my husband Twilight Velvet. I'm so sorry about the damages done, he still has a lot to learn about control."

"Pish posh, control is easy, learning to fully develop the full extent of his powers is the hard part. But if he is willing to study hard and actually learn from me, then I see no reason as to why he shouldn't come and study with me personally as my pupil at the Canterlot castle."

"Wha..."

"Dusk Shine, as the God of the day and sun, I believe that it is about time I had a pupil, don't you think thats reasonable?"

"Logically speaking yes, if you personally tutor someone, then they would be able to pass on the information you give them should something ever happen to you, but I doubt anything will happen considering that your immortal and perfectly capable of defending yourself and our nation."

"That is a very mature answer for such a young colt, might I ask why you answered in such a way?"

"I don't see the sense in being immature outside of my own home, it sets a bad example for yourself and others may perceive that immaturity as also being unknowledgeable."

"Well, I do think we will get along quite well, but you are still but a colt, you may act as you would at home if you like when in the castle and we aren't in a lesson. Think of it as a second home."

"Alright then, whens our first lesson Sol?"

*chuckles*"Tomorrow at seven."

"But thats when the sun rises... ARE YOU GONNA SHOW ME HOW TO RAISE THE SUN?!"

"Yes, I will show you, and maybe when your older, you may try it."

"This is officially the best day ever!"

"Do you know of Prince Bolero? We're having a dinner tonight and if it isn't to much trouble, I would like you to meet him."

"Bolero is gonna be there?! Can I go mom and dad, please, please, pleeease?!"

*chuckles*"I take it you already know of him then."

"Well of course, he's the best foalsitter in all of Equestria!!"

"Oh, I had no idea he foal sat you. You must let him come then if he knows Bolero. We were actually planning on having somewhat of a 'royal sleepover' and Dusk is more than welcome to stay, I'm sure he hasn't seen Bol in some time since he's been so busy in the Crystal Empire."

"Well it's ok with me, what about you Night Light? Do you think we can leave our little colt in the hooves of the two most powerful rulers of Equestria for one night?"

"Well... I guess it would be ok for one night... I guess..."

"It'll be fine mom, I already have everything essential for tonight and tomorrow, my favorite books, ink, quills, blank scrolls, my portable telescope, and Smarty Pants of course. And if I stay I won't be late for my first lesson!"

"Well, you are prepared, thats for sure, and we can get you a pillow, blanket and tooth brush of course, and you can shower after the sun has been raised."

"Alright, that seems fair, you can go."

"Yes!! Thanks mom, thanks dad, I'll see you tomorrow!!"

"Bye Dusky!"

"Goodbye sweety, see you tomorrow!"

And with that the colt and the alicorn walked in tandem out the back door and to the main entrance of the castle.
