I am a lazy fuck who decided for this to be Dusk's first lesson so I can time skip most of the boring shit and get strait to the good stuff with more... Duslaris? Solusk? I like the second ship name, comment which one is better or make a new one!

Royal Slumber party

As the two walked Solaris found himself drifting off in thought, he wondered about many things in his old age. He has yet to find a mate good enough for his average standards and throughout the lonely years he has yet to understand the whole soulmate thing and often ponders the subject in his free time. He has always known it would be a stallion with bright intellect and stunning looks, with a heart as bright as the sun but secluded like the moon. It had been so long since he had wondered if his fantasies would become reality one day. He had all but lost hope in the face of despair, until he started to wonder about this young colt, he started to go through the daydreams of the ponies for fun as a young stallion when he was bored or had nothing better to do and had kept up the habit. It is much like how his younger brother used to dream walk, he himself would cast an intricate spell while he daydreamed so he could see those dreams. This purple colt really caught his eye though one day, he was in an art class, but instead of thinking of what he was drawing the young colt was daydreaming about the microscope he would receive on his fifth birthday. Sol was infatuated with this young colt since that faithful day and had watched him grow, he had seen his daydreams of being accepted to Lord Solaris's School For Gifted Unicorns and when he was, Sol made it a priority to be there that day, he had his private scribe cancel his entire day in preparation to see this one student. Why must he be so naive when it comes to love, why can he not come forth with the conclusion that his second soul is this colt standing in front of him! Why is it this colt in the first place?

"Sol, we're here! Can I ask the guard to open the gates for us?! Oh, is Bol here yet? I hope he is!"

"Sure, you can ask the guards to open the gates, and I don't know if he's here yet little one."

"Oh, ok... Excuse me sirs! Could you open up the gates for Sol and I?"

"And you are?"

"Sol's new pupil!"

"And Sol is?"

"How dare you! Sol is Lord Solaris!"

"Oh, my apologies young sir! I didn't mean anything by it I- Lord Solaris, I assure you I meant no disrespect!"

"It is quite alright, I didn't realize he would run ahead like that with out me."

"So sorry sire, let me open the gates for you."

"Thank you sir."

"Dusk, until the guards and other nobles know your my pupil I want you to stick close to me so they know your not an intruder and have you put in the dungeon until they can take you to me for questioning."

"I-I'm sorry S-Sol, I didn't m-mean to, I-I was just excited..."

"I know child, it's alright, you have had quite a big day and are only excited to be my pupil and see Bolero."

"Uhuh!"

"Well, it looks like the crystal carriage is just coming over the Canterlot skyline!"

"Bolero! Sunshine, sunshine, ladybugs awake!"

"Clap your hooves and do a little shake!"

"Excellent timing if I do say so myself."

"Bolero? Its good to see you! Why pray tell is your carriage all the way out there though?"

"That my dear uncle are the presents I brought with me for you and Dusk, although I was going to make a house visit tomorrow to see him, but since he's here he can have his presents now! Wait, why are you here? Did you get accepted to the school?! I promise I didn't put in a good word with the judges or Sol!"

"It's even better, I passed the entrance exam but I accidentally turned mom, dad, and the judges into plants, turned the dragon egg that I was supposed to hatch into an adult, and to top it all off Sol saw the entire thing! Now I'm his pupil and my first lesson is how to raise the sun tomorrow, he even said I could try when I'm older!"

"Wow... He really promised to do that? Sol last time I asked you said if I even attempted it you would send me to the moon."

"You weren't and still aren't ready, Dusk will probably get to try first considering he has shown the magical level that of an alicorn. An aging spell of that stature is almost beyond me for Faust's sake!"

"Well, lets head inside and eat, then presents after that!"

"Ok!"

"So, for Sol I have a tapestry recovered from Everfree castle, all thanks to Daring Do, a hoof stitched pillow case made of ewes(crystal sheep) wool and embroidered with a sunset, and a book on philosophy written by René Descartes of Prance in the 1500's."

"These are wonderful gifts Bole! I will cherish them greatly."

"I'm glad you like them uncle, and for you Dusk, a book on the history of Eqestria, exclusive from the Crystal Library, A new portable telescope, a journal so you don't have to keep track of all those scrolls, and a new outfit for Smarty Pants."

"I love it all Bole!!! Thank you, thank you, thank you!! Can we go star gazing tonight? I wanna use my new telescope!"

"Oh my! I have to raise the moon!! Lets go every pony!!"

"Alright, lets see here, the moon is full... the stars are in order... hmmm, ah thats it! Dusk, look at the stars and tell me what you see."

"Alright... well, there all backwards for starters and- oh my Faust, there all backwards!! Can you fix them Sol?!"

"Yes."

"Then do it!!"

"No. I want you to. You know where they go, now put them there."

"W-what?! I cant do that!! Only you have control of the sky!!"

"Well now I want you to try. What did I say about studying hard and learning from me, this is a surprise lesson, I had no intention of doing this until I suddenly thought of it."

"Well, it couldn't hurt to try..."

"Thats the spirit Dusk, you can do it! If I did it as a foal, you can to!"

"Thanks Bole."

"Just do a levitation spell and imagine them how they should be."

As Dusk walked up to the front of the balcony he looked at the sky and thought of how chaotic it looked up there, the constellations were backwards and sideways and upside down, and places in the wrong spots. He felt the energy bubble from his core again, the inexplicable feeling moving through his body and pooling at his horn, he imagined Sol standing in the auditorium as he cast the spell, the look of shock and the way he looked so much more like a pony than a sun God, the normality of his reactions and their conversations. It made Dusk have this urge to be there for his teacher when no one else was because Dusk feared that Sol wasn't as happy as everyone perceived him to be.
