Dusk is twelve now~~~

Dusk has grown up well, he helps with the stars when he stays late enough and Solaris has become quite attached to the small colt as he grew under his protective vision. 'Why must I think of such things, he is only yet twelve, maybe when he is an alicorn... but when will that happen? *sigh* To many questions and to soon Sol...' The alicorn walked along the multitudes of halls and past many doors until he stopped at one that was intricately carved with the words of protection and lock spells, the color was violet though, that was the only thing that seemed out of place, the color. Many a pony would walk past the strange door and wonder why it was violet of all colors.

"Dusk? Are you here?"

"One second Sol, I just... gotta... get... the book... GAAAH!!"

"Dusk?! Dusk, I'm coming in!!"

"Sol, I'm fine! Just let me open the door for you!"

"Why?! I can open it perfectly fine myself, let me just read the runes... ah, yes *magic horn swish* AH!!"

"I TOLD YOU NOT TO TRY AND OPEN THE DOOR!!!"

"WELL HOW WAS I SUPPOSED TO KNOW?!"

"Oh, I don't know, maybe you should have LISTENED TO ME!!"

*exhale*"I'm sorry Dusk, I should have listened to you.."

"It's ok Sol, you couldn't have known about the runes, there are a lot of them..."

"I just wanted to tell you that dinner is almost ready."

"Ok, thanks Sol."

"Your welcome dusk."

"Sol?"

"Yes Dusk?"

"I love you..."

"As do I little one..."

Now he's fifteen~~~

"Sol, why are you sending me away to Ponyvill?! Did I do something wrong?"

"No, never, you are perfect, I just want you to oversee the one-thousandth Summer Sun Celebration."

"Really!? Are you really entrusting me with that much responsibility?!"

"Well of course, you are completely capable and I trust you. Besides, this is good practice."

"Practice for what?"

"All in due time shall you find out Dusk."

"Ok, I should be going soon, I love you Sol."

"As do I little one..."

He's eighteen now~~~

"Sol? Where are we?"

"We are in my dreamscape."

"Why? And why aren't the guys here to?"

"This is only for you to see. Do you remember what I told you when you first left Canterlot?"

"You said I would understand all in due time... but what does that have to do with this?"

"This is when you understand... this is when you embrace your destiny. Are you afraid?"

"No, not if you say this is my destiny, I'm not afraid."

"Good, no matter what happens, know that I love you..."

"I love you too Sol..."

*Magic-ey magic times!*(you know what happens)

Solaris starred as his pupil rose into the sky, slowly but surely, a bit of his soul snapped off and floated up to Dusk as his soul surrounded it's host body. Sol never let himself look away from the birth of his pupil, wings started to form on his back, his horn grew visibly longer and sharper, his slightly chubby body grew a bit and became lean and skinny, and his mane grew slightly, becoming more wavy. He was lowered to the ground in an aura of his own cutie mark.

"Welcome Dusk Shine Prince of Friendship."

"Awesome! I got a new flying buddy!!"

"I've never seen this happen before!"

"Sol, how is this possible?"

"You were always destined for greatness, it took at least half a millennium to realize that one of my pupils would become an alicorn, they all failed though, so here you stand..."

"But what will happen? Will we continue with our lessons and studies?"

"Sadly no, I have taught you all that I know. But it is now your turn to take on a pupil."

"Will we ever see each other anymore?"

"Of course we will, just because I'm not your teacher doesn't mean we aren't friends anymore little one."

"So I still have my room in the castle?"

"Untouched and as you left it."

"Then can we all have a Royal Slumber party with Bolero, Gleaming, Spines and the guys?!"

*chuckles* "I don't see why we can't have that put together. All of you, come, anyone who can't fly can use the carriage, I will fly with the three of you."

"Um, while everyone gets their stuff, can you show me how to fly? Eheh, I... have no idea what to do..."

"Of course, it would be an honor Prince Dusk."

*sarcasm*"Thanks, now help me before the others get back please!"

"Alright, alright, what you do is spread your wings, crouch down, then leap up into the air, and flap your wings, like this."

"Ok, let me try, one.. two.. three!"

" Dusk, open your eyes!"

"I'm flying... I'm flying! Woohoo!!!"

"Well done Dusk! Now, try and keep up!"

"Oh it's sooo on!"

The two alicorns raced around Ponyvill, above town hall under bridges, through the smoke clouds coming for the train as it pulled into the station, jumping around in the Golden Oaks library's branches, they went all the way up to the orchards of Sweet Apple Acres. Then Sol stopped. Just atop the hill crest looking out over the horizon, watching the sun fall on it's own accord, only aiding slightly as it sunk into the ocean and burnt out. Then came the moon, with it's craters in the shape of a stallions head it rose to overlook the ponies as they slept still and silent.

"Where are the stars Sol?"

"I want you to help me with them tonight Dusk. Just like old times..."

"I wouldn't have it any other way Sol..."

Then, in an aura of purple, the stars appeared, one by one, they stood, side by side, in tandem with the moon, Forever together, yet forever alone in the fact that they couldn't talk to one another.
