Pine trees and Purple Stars

Twilight's POV

I opened my eyes. I was in my pony form, and in the bed I slept in back in Equestria. Was everything I just experienced a dream? I got off my bed. I couldn't find Spike or Starlight anywhere. I got to the door and walked outside. The ground was a checker pattern, the sky was half day, half night.

Oh no I think. I see chocolate rain clouds everywhere. Pigs were flying, pies were emerging from the ground and flying upwards. It was exactly like when Discord was in charge of Equestria. I looked back at my castle, but it wasn't the castle I just walked out of. The colors of the crystals it was made out of were all faded. The crystals themselves were cracked and broken. It looked like it was thousands of years old, with nopony living in it. I checked all of Ponyville and I couldn't find any signs of Discord anywhere. Including Discord himself. I went back to the castle and went inside. The hallways were filled with stain-glass windows with Discord on them. I made it to the throne room. I was shocked. The map was completely shattered. The thrones were moved to the sides of the room. Three on one side, three on the other. I almost burst into tears when I saw what was sitting on the thrones. It was the frozen stone statues of all of my friends. They all had terrified faces.

"I see that you found your way back"

I looked up and saw Discord sitting on his throne. He had some sort of amulet on.

"Discord? What are you doing? What happened to Equestria? What happened to my friends?" I tried asking. He lifted me with his magic. I was right in front of him now. I noticed something off. His pupils were an orange color instead of the normal red.

"Oh I simply gave them what they deserved. Celestia and Luna got the royal treatment." The wall behind him disappeared. The sun and moon were both visible. I looked closer. I saw pony outlines on both the moon and sun.

"How dare you?" I shouted. "What happened to friendship?" He laughed and cut his magic off, throwing me to the ground and returning the wall behind him.

"I simply realized the truth. I didn't need friendship. As soon as I found this amulet, I couldn't see clearer." He lifted the amulet. "I followed you into that human dimension and found it. I took that dimension over easily. But don't worry your new friends are in good condition."

He snapped his claws and six stone statues floated up from behind him. I almost screamed. Dipper, Mabel, they're two great uncles and two friends were also frozen with terrified looks on their faces.

"Equestria is mine once again, Twilight. Nothing you can say or do will change that. Now, you'll see just how it felt." He snapped his claws and a orange beam of light hit my hoofs. Suddenly, I couldn't move them. I looked down and I was slowly turning to stone. I struggled. I couldn't break it. It was up to my neck now. I couldn't do anything, but scream.

"AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!"

In the few seconds that separated my scream from a short boost of chaos, I was able to take note of a few things.

1) I noticed that I was crying

2) Fluttershy screamed

3) Mabel and Pinkie screamed

4) We all sat up

Okay, that's all I got. We were all catching our breath when Dipper opened the door shouting "Are you girls okay?!" The thing is, he came in too quickly and tripped over Rainbow's extended leg, nearly causing Rainbow to fall off the bed completely, and landed on the corner of the blow-up mattress. He bounced off and fell into the open closet.

"Is everyone alright?" Ford asked, standing in the doorway and turning on the light. Fluttershy and I were comforting each other from the burst of tears we both had. Rainbow was steadying herself, and Mabel and Pinkie were trying to figure out what in Equestria just happened.

"You'll have to ask the girls that." Dipper said, stumbling out of the closet. Everyone looked at me, since they all knew it was me who screamed.

"Yea, what did happen?" Rainbow asked. I wiped the tears that were still on my face from the freak out.

"Well... I...umm. I just.... had a nightmare." I said, contemplating whether I should tell them the truth or not. "It's not a big deal or anything, just one of those weird, creepy dreams we all have. Right?" I laughed, trying to cover up my little white lie. Dipper sat on the corner of the mattress.

"Are you sure you're okay? I could maybe get you water or something..." Dipper offered, sort of half-mumbling at the end.

"If you wouldn't mind, I could use some water." I answered.

"I got it!!" Dipper bolted downstairs. We all waited in silence for about a minute and Dipper came back with a small glass with water.

"Thank you." He began to hand it to me. I reached out to grab it and our fingers touched. He instantly drew his hand back and his whole face turned red. He stepped back a bit and leaned against the door next to Ford. I just drank the water in silence. Ford looked at Dipper thoughtfully while Mabel and Pinkie whispered to each other smiling. I saw Dipper gave his sister a bit of a stare. Rainbow yawned and Fluttershy just sat their quietly. Something was going on. I drank half the glass.

"Umm do you mind if I keep it on the table?" I asked. Mabel answered "yes" for him. I placed the glass on the table behind us.

"Well, goodnight girls." Ford said, turning off the light and closing the door. Everyone else settled except for Fluttershy and I.

"Fluttershy? I didn't mean to scare you." I asked her.

"Oh no, I'm fine. besides, you know how easily I can get scared." She gave me a smile to reassure me that she was okay. I gave her the same. I took one last sip of the water. I looked at the clock behind us, 2:30am. I got into a comfortable position and tried falling asleep again.
