Pine trees and Purple Stars

Gravity Falls, 8:00, Mystery Shack Living Room, Twilight's POV

Dipper, Ford, and I set up the board and pieces. We haven't chosen our characters yet. I already knew which character I was choosing.

"Hey, I'm just going to the bathroom real quick." Dipper said, standing up and walking into the hallway.

"So, you're a D,D, and More D fan?" Ford asked. "I'm surprised they have that game in Equestria."

. . .

I completely froze. Equestria? As in the completely different land in a completely different dimension.

"W-what did you say?" I asked, hoping that I had just heard him wrong. He looked surprised, as if he expected me to know exactly everything he was thinking. He noticed the shock in my eyes

"Oh! I'm sorry! Celestia must not have told you." he apologized. I was dumbfounded! Celestia never told me? Was she lying about not knowing about the glasses? I had so many questions! I guess I just had to start with Ford.

"H-how did you know? Like, how did you...? I mean..." I tried to get the words out. My mind was just so busy. He just laughed.

"Well, when you're stuck between dimensions for 30 years, you tend to get around. The princess and I would have secret conversations every time I got to visit. I suppose that it was so secret she wouldn't even tell her 'most faithful student' about it." he explained.

"So," I said, "The princess told you about me?"

"Sure did. As well as the times you've saved Equestria." I blushed a bit. I never really thought of myself as that special. Plus I never thought of me as being the topic of conversation. Especially with strangers from foreign dimensions. Then Dipper walked in, so I guess the conversation was over, for now at least.

"Okay! So what characters are you guys choosing?" Dipper asked, rubbing his hands together in anticipation. "As usual, I will be Sir Saffron Stonecrop!" He held up his own character. It was a wizard type character with a huge staff with a green gem engraved in it.

"Well I choose Winter Wolf!" Ford said, placing his character down. It was a man with wolf features and a cane engraved with white crystals. I recognized the characters. They were, after all, just human-ified, I guess. Anyways, I placed my character down. I don't know why I had it. I think it was that the bag I used was an old bag that I used to store my D, D, and More D, and other board games, in. I guess I must have left it in by accident.

"I choose....STARSWIRL THE BEARDED!" I said proudly. He was always my lucky character. Ford smiled.

"Good choice! Now, let's start the game!"

Meanwhile, upstairs.... (no one's POV)

"...and that's how you make heart cupcakes with out using tricky tools!" Pinkie finished.

"Great advice Pinkie! I have to use that next time I bake! My mom would love it!" Mabel commented.

Rainbow yawned, "So what are we doing now?" she asked.

"I guess we could just talk." Mabel responded. "But what to talk about?"

"Hey what about that brother of yours?" Rainbow requested.

"Rainbow?!" Fluttershy said, surprised, "It's rude to talk about others behind their backs!" Rainbow shook her head.

"No I don't mean to be mean, but, I've never seen somebody act so nervous since Twilight thought she would be sent back to kindergarten for missing an assignment. Does he do that all the time or what?" Rainbow clarified. Fluttershy didn't really seem convinced that she wasn't trying to be mean, but didn't say anything.

"Well he does get nervous sometimes, but he only gets like that when..... (INSERT LARGE GASP HERE) OH MY GOSH! GREAT IDEA INCOMING!!!!!!!!!!" Mabel basically shouted. "We should totally get them together! Oh it would be so romantic! To nerds together!"

Pinkie nodded. "Awwww! That would be so adorable!" Fluttershy raised an eyebrow.

"Are you sure we should do that? What if they aren't interested in one another? We can't force those things."

"Oh please! My brother will be thanking us in no time!" Mabel reassured her. Fluttershy wanted to protest, but she didn't like confrontation. She had just met Mabel, maybe she did know what she was doing. Then again, it could lead to fights or relationships ruined. But Fluttershy decided to keep quiet for now.

"Now the question is... how do we do it?" Rainbow asked. Mabel thought for a second. She scanned the room and spotted the journal that was sitting on the bedside table.

"That's it! Dipper and I often go on adventures looking for monsters and stuff. We could do something tomorrow and then carry out my plan." Mabel said triumphantly. Pinkie was basically vibrating with excitement. Rainbow and Fluttershy gave each other a confused look.

"Aaaaaaaaand.....what exactly IS that plan?" Rainbow asked, saying what everyone was thinking.

"Okay pay attention." Mabel said, ushering everybody closer as she explained her "master" plan.

A Few Hours Later....(no POV)

"BOO-YEA!!!!!! In your faces!" Twilight yelled, rolling a 36, meanwhile Dipper had a 12 and Ford had a 26. Twilight realized what she had just said. She turned completely red and covered her face in embarrassment. "I'm so sorry!" Dipper and Ford just laughed.

"Well, it wouldn't be the first time someone went crazy playing this game." Dipper said jokingly. "Ford and I took the game a little to far last time, and, well, let's just say we ended up accidently releasing and having to fight off Probalilitor and his ogre minions in a real game controlled by my sister and his brother." he explained pointing to Ford. They all laughed. Twilight looked behind her, where a clock was.

"Oh my! It's 11:30! We should get to bed." she pointed out. They all agreed and cleaned up. Twilight walked upstairs.

"'Night Twilight!" Dipper said waving to Twilight. Twilight waved back.

"Goodnight." she said back. She entered the room and let out a quiet sigh.

"T-Twilight?" she heard a startled Fluttershy whisper.

"Oh I'm sorry Fluttershy. Did I wake you?" Twilight whispered. She went across the room. She squinted and looked around. Pinkie and Mabel were sleeping on Mabel's bed and Mabel was hugging her pet pig, the blow-up mattress was in between the two beds, and Rainbow had her limbs spread out all across Dipper's bed with the blankets and sheets all over the place. Twilight quietly got onto the mattress beside Fluttershy and got under the blankets.

"No, I just couldn't sleep. I'm fine though." Fluttershy replied. Twilight gave her a worried look.

"Are you sure you're okay?" She asked, placing her hand on Fluttershy's. Fluttershy smiled, knowing her friends would be there for her.

"It's just," Fluttershy explained, "I don't know why I'm here. This town gives me a bad feeling. It happened a while ago, when we were playing a board game. I just got a bad feeling. Like something bad was about to happen. I really didn't like it!" Fluttershy almost started crying. Twilight knew it was serious, but she wasn't sure what it was.

"Look Fluttershy, Celestia sent us here for a reason. I know her plans may seem a bit, off, or unorthodox but, I have full trust in her. She knows what she's talking about." That seemed to calm her down. "Now try and get some sleep." They both lied down and closed their eyes.
