It all starts...

It always begins with something simple. Something so trivial that you forget about it as you get older. It gets worse with age though. As you forget, you begin to understand, and when you remember, you lose everything.

Long ago, when I was young, I had a friend. She was the only friend I has. Her name was Algid Hinis. She was about four or five, just like me. She was a little shorter than me, with powder blonde hair tied up in pigtails, and white eyes. She always wore a frilly, pink dress.

We did everything together. We played together, got ice cream together, no matter what, we were together. What was odd, is that I couldn't figure out why. Sometimes it felt like no one noticed her. Like she wasn't really there. But she was there. She was always there.

None of my friends know of her. She was gone before they met me. When she left, I talked to my parents. But when I said she'd left, they didn't even know her name. It was if everything about her had disappeared.

I remember her leaving vividly...

It was day when Algid showed up, like always. Except she opened the door on her own, without having me to unlock it. She didn't come in, she only stood there, her silhouette filling the doorway. And yet, her eyes and mouth were illuminated.

"This is when I leave you, Quillton." She said, thought she sounded off. It was as if she was in a trance. "But don't worry, I'll come back. One day. Then we can be together forever. Just like we are now."

She took a few steps back. "You'll be mine again, Quillton. Will you wait for me?"

I had just been told my friend would be leaving. I was in too much shock for words. I merely nodded.

Algid smiled. "Thank you." She turned around, and began walking. Then she stopped, and looked back. "Don't forget me. I'll be back. And you'll be all mine."

Then she slowly faded in the light.

For years, I didn't forget her. She was always on my mind, no matter what happened. Simply because she was the only friend I'd ever had, and she was the one I remembered. That was until second grade, when I met Galaxy Nebula, a guy who was just about a nerd as I was. We became best friends. During our third grade year, he met Crystal Harmony, his current girlfriend.

I met more friends over the years, such as Vanilla Mocha, and a few other. When I was fifteen, I moved out of my parents house and got a three bedroom apartment with two others, Shadow Rift and Dusty Qrow.

Now I'm a senior at Canterlot High School, and I've forgotten about Algid Finis. But, that forgetfulness will cost the lives of many. Perhaps including my own.

My name is Quillton Brookes, and this is the Christmas that almost killed me, and everyone I love.
