"Come on, Quill," Galaxy pressured me, as we stared around the corner. "Just go talk to her!" Galaxy was my best friend, and had been since elementary school.

I looked at him with shock. "Are you crazy?!" I exclaimed in a whisper, "She'd turn down someone like me!"

Galaxy's face twisted in confusion. "What do you mean 'someone like you?'"

"Someone who's a massive nerd, and has no idea how life works is totally her type." I replied.

Galaxy stared blankly at me. "You're being sarcastic, aren't you?"

"I'm always sarcastic." I replied. "Oh, who am I kidding? She'd never go out with me."

Galaxy looked at me with disapproval, and looked around the corner again. "Her friends are leaving, and she's walking this way!" Galaxy then pushed me into the hallway, causing me to come face-to-face with Sunset Shimmer. I stood with my arms clamped to my sides, and I can only imagine my facial expressions.

Sunset's expression, however, was that of both shock and confusion. "Uh, hi!" She said, in a cheery voice, "Do I know you?"

"N-no!" I stuttered, making an ass of myself, "You don't! In any way, at all!"

"So..." Sunset said, "Is there something you needed?"

"Yes!" I replied, too quickly, and too loudly, "I mean, no! I mean...." I sighed and bowed my head. "No, just go on."

Sunset seemed taken aback. "Are you sure you-"

"Just," I cut her off, "go."

She looked at me sadly, and then walked away. "What's wrong with you? She was right there!"

"Galaxy, you've had better luck with girls than I have." I replied, sadly, "You can't expect me to get my crush on the first time I meet her."

"I did." Galaxy replied.

I sighed, "Well, good for you!"

"So, Galaxy forced you to talk to Sunset Shimmer, huh?" Vanilla Mocha asked, leaning against the counter of her cafe. It wasn't exactly busy, there was just us friends. Mocha was the resident coffee girl, and owned the cafe we hung out at. She was a small girl, only a little over five feet tall. She had long brown hair with white skin and green eyes. She wore a light blue short-sleeve shirt with a dark blue skirt, both covered by a stark white apron. She was highly energetic, at least around us. Like the rest of us, she was a massive nerd, but she was also the only one to own a business. "How'd that go?"

I looked up from my drink. "Guess."

"That good, huh?" Crystal Harmony, Galaxy's girlfriend, said. She was sweet and protective, and less energetic and quirky than the rest of us. She was an overall nice person, and easy to get along with. She has light purple skin and blonde hair, a slight constrast to Galaxy's blue skin and black hair. She wore a light pink shirt and matching skirt with a white jacket. Her outfit reflected her lighthearted personality.

"Oh, you bet it was that good!" Galaxy laughed.

"Galaxy, I sweat to god if you breath a word to anyone outside of this cafe, I will decapitate you with a coffee cup." I threatened.

"Please don't do that," Cookie Crumble, Mocha's assistant, said carrying in a large cardboard box from behind the counter, "The blood would be a pain to clean up." Cookie was very similar to Mocha in almost every aspect. She had a similar personality and overall look. She had light tan skin with black hair tied up in pigtails with purple ribbons. She had light blue eyes, and wore a yellow-tan top with a frilly purple skirt to match. Unlike Mocha, however, she had a slightly darker sense of humor.

"Besides, how would you decapitate Galaxy with a coffee cup?" Crimson Ink, Galaxy's sister, asked. She was younger than the rest of us, at only a freshman, whilst the rest of us were only seniors. She was essentially a less random, slightly most composed version of Pinkie Pie. Looks included.

"Don't ask." I replied, smiling. "Anyway, what are your guy's plans for Christmas?"

"Isn't the school hosting a dance or something on Christmas Eve?" Mocha said, raising a finger.

"They are." I said, "But I was wondering if you all were going. Because I won't go unless you lot are going."

"Oh, we're going alright." Crystal said, vouching for Galaxy.

"Icy and I planned to make it." Mocha said.

"I'm going with my boyfriend." Cookie said, walking back behind the counter.

"So, if I go, I'll be the only one without a date, correct?" I asked. Everyone nodded whilst grinning. "Great."

"I hear Muffins is free." Galaxy teased.

"I think I could find someone better than a klutz."

"Octavia?"

"Shadow's taking her."

"Octavia's sister?"

"Vinyl's running the sound system, she doesn't have the ability for a date."

"Majorette?"

"Are you seriously going to name off every girl at CHS until you find someone I'll say yes to?"

"Of course." Galaxy grinned. "And if that doesn't work, I'll start naming off guys!"

"I'm straight." I replied, looking confused at my friend.

"Your point?"

I shook my head and quickly finished off my drink before sliding off the stool I was sitting on. "Well, I better be getting home. I have an article to write for the paper, I don't want to miss my deadline."

"Have fun, buddy." Galaxy teased.

"Oh, I'll be sure to." I replied, sarcastically, and waved as I left the cafe and stepped into the crisp autumn air.

"Well, he's back." A disapproving voice said as I entered my apartment.

"Thanks for the commentary, Shadow." I replied, setting my keys in the kitchen, "Glad to know your remarks are not going to waste. Where's Dusty?"

"Out," Shadow said, "Said something about a review for his latest work."

"So Senpai finally noticed our little crow?" I retorted.

"Something like that." Shadow chuckled. "A letter came for you, by the way. It's on the counter."

I walked over to the counter and picked up the letter. It was unaddressed, so I had no idea who it was from. I hastily tore it open and pulled out the piece of paper. I unfolded it and read it. It read,

'I told you I'd be back. You didn't forget, did you? You promised you wouldn't. You better not have. Don't worry, I won't hurt you. I could never hurt you. But now that I am back, you can be all mine.

XOXO,

Your Best Friend'

I stared at the letter for a few seconds. "Something wrong?" Shadow asked. I was a fast reader, so even id this was a ten paragraph paper, it would've been completely read by now.

"Shadow," I said, walking toward him, "Read this for me, will you?"  I handed him the letter, and he began to read it.

"XOXO, Your Best Friend." Shadow said, finishing the letter aloud. "Well, unless Galaxy suddenly lost it, I don't think it's from him."

"Well, Galaxy may not be exactly sane, I mean you remember what happened last year, but this is a bit too severe." I replied, taking the letter back.

"Maybe you have a secret admirer." Shadow teased.

"A creepy secret admirer." I replied, walking off to my bedroom. "I have to write an article."

I spent the rest of the night in my bedroom, working on that damn article. It was about the Nightmare Night dance, so I was a little uneducated when it came to the romance involved with bringing date to a dance. After all, I'd never had a girlfriend. Whilst writing, I glanced back at the letter, which I'd shoved in a drawer.

I wheeling my chair over to the drawer and pulled it back out. After rereading it, it was hard not to ponder who it was from. After all, a girl, who'd apparently made a promise with me a long time ago, had come back and seemed to want to be in a relationship to me. Yet, she'd sent a letter. No one sends letters anymore.

Whilst this train of thought continued, I felt a dull tap on my temple, followed by a gentle thump! I looked up from my letter, and looked at the ground beside me and saw a paper plane beside my chair. I picked it up and unfolded it. It was another letter.

I see you got my letter! That's good! I wasn't sure if the mail worked here. The mail girl was really dumb.

Although, you seem confused. You don't seem to remember me... You have no idea how much it hurts.

But don't worry. I'll make you remember me soon enough.

Forever yours,

Your Best Friend

I'm officially creeped out now.

As I went to bed, my mind was wandering to my childhood. Whoever this girl was, she was from my childhood. But who could it be? Shortly, my mind began shutting down and falling asleep. Before I knew it, I was in a deep slumber.
