The Weathered Loops
Set 3
Previous Chapter3.1- The Field (2.5 cont.)
Cobalt Blue was thoroughly confused. He used to think that Spectrum was the whole world, only to be discovered by an entire continent 50 times the size of Spectrum. Then after that, Weathered came and introduced him to the Fieldiverse, which was so many more times massive than his home. Now this? An entire other set of Universes? Of Loops? Not only that, but these repeated themselves in wildly different ways, so they would never get stale.
Weathered Field was worried. He might have broken his apprentice. Cobalt had read the book, then sat on the grass for what was now 15 minutes. He whistled at Cobalt to get his attention, then spoke. “Cobalt, I know, it's a big world. But you haven't even seen it yet, save your surprise for later. Lets just head through the gate, and then you can take things in.” Cobalt nodded, and stood up.
“Alright. Let's go see this new world.” He swallowed, and walked into the Key-gate’s abyss.
3.2- My Little Pony (3.1 cont.)
Cobalt was once again confused. They had returned to Equestria, only to find 6 Alicorns fighting a massive dragon. Looking at Weathered, Cobalt was relieved to find that he was just as bewildered. The dragon, red and yellow in color, was flying above the town, spewing fire onto the houses below.
“What the buck? Last time I was here, it was a Baseline Loop? What on Equus made the dragon attack!?” Weathered looked around at the burning town incredulously. “Ok, uh, hold on. I’m going to go talk to Twilight, see if I can get some info on whatever is happening.” Weathered’s golden magic enveloped him as he floated up the Mane 6.
“Hey Twilight, I was just wondering if… uh… can you tell me why the dragon attacked this time? I thought that Fluttershy usually tames it?” Twilight stopped shooting lasers at the dragon long enough to give an answer back.
“Fluttershy had a bad loop, bucked the dragon” Then she was off again. Weathered figured she was enjoying the fight: she could easily have taken the thing on alone in her sleep. Weathered nodded, and floated back down to Cobalt.
“The dragon got kicked, didn’t enjoy it too much.” Cobalt blinked, looked around, putting together his words.
“But- somepony has to have died in this fire! Shouldn’t we be doing something?” Weathered laughed, then stopped and sighed.
“Yeah, that's the thing in this Multiverse. If someone dies, they just show up next Loop. Unless they are just visiting, then you will show up in their next Loop. Point is, we could save these ponies, but the world will also do it eventually. That being said, never turn your back on a cry for help. Wanna go save some ponies?” Weathered looked over at Cobalt, smiling.
They both nodded, and Drew their favorite source of power around them. Weathered became a pureblood wizard, brandishing a Pine wand with a Unicorn Tail core. To his side, Cobalt became his original self: a deep blue hue.
Weathered brandished his wand, and cast a silent Aguamenti spell at the nearest flaming house, causing a stream of water to flow from his wand tip, slowing the blaze. Cobalt took this chance to do his part. Turning into a cloud of blue mist, he rushed into the house, filling it. After finding the pony, he consolidated himself, dragging the pony out of the house.
They continued to work in this manner, dousing houses and saving ponies. Twilight looked down and saw the damage the dragon was causing, and decided to end this. She called to the other six to finish the dragon off, and they all nodded. A moment later, the dragon was sitting in his original home, which was now sealed off by a large pile of rocks.
It took an hour or so to find the rest of the ponies and houses that were in peril from the dragon. After the work was done, the wizard and hue erased their Drawing, becoming ponies once again. “Wow. I mean, you talked about Drawing in your guide, but you haven’t ever done it. I’m guessing that was Harry Potter and…” Twilight paused, thinking. “Actually, I have no idea what you were. Maybe a Gem?”
Cobalt chuckled. “No, that wasn’t a Gem. My name is Cobalt Blue, I’m a hue from the islands of Spectrum. That was me, the real me at least.”Twilight was confused. In all her life, she had never met any hues, or seen any place named Spec... Weathered...
“Weathered what did you do. I’m guessing Cobalt is a friend of yours from your Multiverse, from a Universe we don’t have here.” Twilight looked around, as though expecting the Admins to jump out of a bush and send them to a Punishment Loop.
Weathered chuckled nervously. “I may have created a Pocket Universe, and I may have brought someone from the Fieldiverse to the Loopverse. Does that mean I get another Loop where we swap places?”
Twilight facehoofed while Cobalt raised his hoof on the sideline. “Uh, a few questions, please. Did Weathered do something wrong, how do you not have Earth-1 here, and what do you mean by swap places?”
Twilight groaned. “Weathered might have done something wrong, I’m not positive though, This Multiverse is different from yours in more ways than just Time Loops, and Weathered got a Loop where he and I swapped places. I came from the Twiliverse, and Weathered was Ponyville's resident librarian.” Cobalt thought about it for too long, and got lost in the various ideas it presented.
Cobalt knew that this was going to be an interesting experience.
3.3-The Field
Weathered had a serious problem. The Field was on fire. He had tried - and failed - to stack Incendio spells again. He really wanted to make fireworks using a single spell. He had no idea why that appealed to him, but it did. Maybe he could host a party that way someday?
Right now, Cobalt was enjoying a Loop in Equestria as a fencing coach, for whatever reason. Weathered had found that once he introduced Cobalt into the Loopverse, he had begun Looping. He didn’t always show up, but when he did, he was a fencing coach. Cobalt hadn’t had a Loop while he was awake yet, but Weathered hoped it would be soon.
Weathered decided to think about it later: The Field was a maelstrom of raging fire. This will take some time to fix, which is no problem at all.
3.4-My Little Pony (Lord of the Rings)
Somepony had bucked things up. While Twilight had experienced Fusion Loops plenty of times, this was just ridiculous. Weathered was Sauron this Loop, gazing across Equestria from an eye of blue fire that rose from the Badlands, looking for the One Ring. Lots of things were out of place, like somepony had tried to convince themselves that Equestria was indeed Middle-Earth. Canterlot was Minas Tirith, Ponyville and nearby areas made up Rohan, and Appleloosa was… Isengard? How odd.
Something was wrong, so Twilight decided to do the best thing possible: Send the Ringbearer off to the Badlands so that he can destroy Weathered and end this Loop. Actually, she had a better idea.
Cobalt jumped as Twilight appeared in his study. He was looking over the story his uncle was writing before she popped in. “T-Twilight? It's good to see you, but what bids you to come here so late, and unannounced?” He spoke in an accent vaguely similar to that of Middle-Earth, but still slightly Equestrian.
“Have you seen your uncle? I need something that he has.” Twilight stared at Cobalt, making him sweat.
“Uh, yeah. He’s down at the town square, setting up the decorations for his birthday party.” Before Cobalt had finished the sentence Twilight had teleported to the square, looking for Cobalt’s uncle. Spotting him, she teleported close to him, pulled the ring from his pocket, and teleported to Mt. Field.
Weathered screamed in agony as his ring- his soul was burned in the fires of Mt. Field. Then he exploded.
3.5-My Little Pony
Ponyville screamed as Nightmare Moon appeared, giving her usual speech about the night lasting forever. She was interrupted, though, by a cloud of dark blue smoke floating up to her. Then the room flashed blue as Cobalt’s blade ripped through Nightmare Moon, dispelling the curse that had been placed on Princess Luna.
“Huh.” Weathered and Twilight watched the whole ordeal. “I knew he was precise with that blade, but still- that's just ridiculous. He just cut through magic with a sword. I guess that time in Skyrim really did teach him a lot about enchantment.” Light flooded through the window as the Sun, with Celestia in tow, returned.
