And We Were Okay With That
My Tribe was hopeful for the Europeans to leave, the bears would come with fishes in their mouths, yet that was early in the morning. We never hunted the bears or beavers, because they meant the world to us. They saved us from the Europeans, and for that we thank them everyday. When I was old enough to explore, I met my first bear and beaver. We became friends. We lived together, they understood me. I was thankful for them. I told them of my troubles, and they made them disappear. I never did tell them about the Europeans down South though, I was afraid of their reaction, so I never said a word.
Young Akule jumped from hills of dirt to hills of grass. His animal friends ran with him, he would lay down and look at the sky. His head rested on the black fur of the bear, the beaver lay down on his stomach. He loved the forest, along with his animal friends. The raven rested on the bear's back. Akule was loved by them, and he loved them. Everything was fine for him, it was enough to say he didn't hid a thing from them. And it stayed that way.
He never said a word when his friends were around, there was nothing to speak of. They came with him when he went home, his Tribe loved to see the animals. They gave the bear fish, the beaver love, and the raven pets on his soft fur. Needless to say, Akule's life was perfect for him. He had a brave father like the bear, a kind mother like the beaver, and a strong and wise grandfather like the raven. He had more animal friends but he preferred the bear, beaver, and raven more than anything.
The Tribe knew it well to honor the animals, for they were the reason they weren't forced to work with the Europeans under their rule, and how the forest is still standing today. Akule's grandfather would tell them stories at night when they were around the fire, the bear didn't leave, but the raven and beaver did. Mostly because they had families to be with at the time, and bear knew it's family could manage for the night. Nothing was wrong for them, everything was perfect.
He would tell stories about his day being the Chief, when he was growing, and how he had met Akule's grandmother. And the young boy couldn't have asked for a better family or Tribe. When the bear left, he was in bed. He would dream of the day with his friends had spent with him, but the South was bugging him, no matter what he had said to his father, his mother knew the truth and allowed him to head down there with the bear and beaver. Sometimes the Raven joined them.
"Yes mother, father. I won't go down there." Is what he said to them when he turned four, but he went there one day and found it to be sorrowful, unfair, and curl. Tribes like his were in slaved, being torn apart. It was horrible. But that was days ago, and he couldn't get over the fact that he had seen two girls his age. Just staying close to the Europeans leader.
He never had it easy, he was pushed and thought of a traitor. Dusk did do something, but he did it when everyone was sleeping. Maybe someone was awake, someone like AJ. He would tell the truth to everyone, no matter what. He would busted because of AJ, his own friend! His leader had two heirs and he was pushed aside like he was nothing.
At times like this, he wished he was up north. Away from so many, safe with the animals guarding up there. He would honor them like the Natives, but he was born into the Europeans, he would serve them like so many before him. He was born into Europe, but Europe treasured many but him. He was sure that no one would care for him, unless one of the daughters would.
He would stand aside when the leader would give a speech to the Natives, he would babysit the leader's daughters when he had to go somewhere. He was stuck doing favours to build up trust again. And he hated it, at times like this, the daughters would give him something to cheer him up. He would keep it a secret that they were siblings, he never said anything when the leader was around and he would only talk with Fluttershy.
It always seem weird to him when he saw Native families playing with each other in secret, but he knew he was once like that. So it was almost nice seeing them together like that. Dusk didn't disobey them for about three weeks and yet still no trust, he knew it would hard to get them to trust him again, so he made the Natives work harder but in secret he brought them food and water each night. But one night someone was awake, so he couldn't.
Seeing the daughters play together was nice and relaxing to watch, their father smiling and telling everyone to go back to work, but Dusk had to get more water for his people to drink. Which was scary, no one dare to head up north, but Dusk had too. Everyone watched him head up north and surprisingly come back with water. Now that got trust going again. he was happy, but he kept to himself that he had seen another Tribe up North.
During my childhood, I played with my animal friends more than my human friends. They called me special, only because no one else could make friends with animals. I never got why though, I was like everyone else then, but I know now why I could back then and no one else could. Still, I wish I knew back then though. The animals choose me over everyone else, but the bear stayed when we were around the fire at night. The bear had stories told back it's kind and the bear roared in agreement with the stories, and I found it relaxing.
The Europeans Never Came To My Tribe
Just before I was born, Europeans found many countries of the South but never the North. They were scared to go up North, bears there were rooming. My Tribe is the Red Indians Tribe. I changed my Tribe, people in the Tribe say I was destined to change the ways of my Tribe to a better way. I never did get why that was though. I was born into the Tribe like everyone else, but I'm the chief's son. My dad's name is Chapa, my mother's name is Bena. They named me Akule. I'm a blessing for them. Now, here's my story about how I became Chief of the Red Indians and how I changed the whole Tribe.
Years Ago
The rain was falling heavy as the Chief and his wife stood inside of their hut, since his wife made the hut, he had to follow her rules. But he still had power over the Tribe. Now they weren't alone like any other time, now you see the wife had a child. The Chief's baby, son or daughter, many said it was going to be a life changer. And well, they were right. A young boy was born to the Chief, looked like his father, had his mother's blonde hair, blue eyes too.
Now the Chief couldn't be happier, he picked his young one up and smiled at him. His wife also smiled at her young one, but the boy had something none other had, a gift you might say. But that was seen until he was old enough to explore and play with many other kids of the Tribe. The boy opened his eyes and looked at his parents, confused and yet so happy to see his parents. The Chief gave a little kiss to his son, and handed him to his mother.
"You did so well Bena." The Chief spoke to his Wife, "I'm so proud of you."
"A little blessing is what this one is." Bena told her husband and Chief, her son closing his eyes, "What about Akule for his name Chapa?"
"Love it."
Chapa watched as Bena put down little Akule and sat beside him, Chapa went outside when the rain stopped and looked at the sky. As clear as it was, nothing could stop his worry about the news about Europeans coming to other Tribes and pulling apart. He prayed that wouldn't happen to his own Tribe.
Just south of the North, a family was playing happily, the Europeans ruled there. The natives were slowly turning into them, they lost their language to the Europeans and they didn't know how to do things like before.
"This is awesome!" A teen called Rainbow Blitz said, "All of this ours!"
"But isn't this a bit mean?"
"Na! Dusk, you worry to much!" Blitz said, pulling his friend close, "We'll be awesome!"
"We took away so much from them though." Dusk said, looking at the leader, who had two daughters.
"Oh! Your feeling like you should be his heir?" Blitz teased, "I see why. The daughters get power when their older."
Dusk rolled his eyes at his friend's comment, he didn't want power, he wanted to be seen as his father's son. But his dad never said so, he was given up and then one day two daughters were born. The fact killed Dusk inside, but he was replaced by two cute girls.
"Blitz, Blitz." The two saw their other friend, Sunset Glare, "Who ever said we would have power if we were the leader's kids?"
"We would."
"I know, but we would have to work for power!" Glare said with a smirk, "But they do not. He treasures them both."
"Whatever, we're going to make this Native's work for everything. Food, water, and so much more!" Blitz said, high fiving his friend, "Right Dusk?"
"What? Oh, yeah." Dusk joked, rubbing his neck, "But we should at least give them some time alone!"
They watched the family play and Blitz scared them, Sunset Glare and Rainbow Blitz laughed, while Dusk Shine didn't. He knew it was mean and unfair, so that night when everyone was sleeping, he snuck some food and water to the Natives and told them to head North. They did so.
The next morning was hard, cold, and fearful, everyone blamed Dusk for the Native's leaving, some families remained. The leader swore to kill off Dusk if anymore Natives were to be gone. Dusk nodded and went to work with the others, he kept his eye on the daughters though, the leader playing with them.
Until...
"Dusk?" It was his friend, Fluttershy, "Are you alright?"
"No," Dusk said, "I'm replaced by them! I was threatened by the man I used to call father!"
Fluttershy said nothing after that, only because Blitz said to stop talking with him. Damn he hated his life here.
It took a while for me to get used to the ways of my Tribe at first. Once I was four, I could explore and play with animals of my liking. I was always told to never heard South, but one night I thought to myself, 'How bad could it be?' I was a fool for thinking that. As soon as I thought of a good day to head that way, my life changed forever.
I never did think of who would be there, I just thought animals would live there. Not people, I saw Tribes in slaved and felt bad for them, I saw the leader of the evil people so mean and rotten to one of their kind. Expect I noticed he had two kids with him. Both were girls. Now that got me off guard by a long shot.
Never did speak of that time to my father though, I only spoke about it to my mom. She understood my mistake of seeing the South. She told me that we were protected my the bears, beavers, and many other animals. And for that, I'm glad to be born up North.
