The Marelian Invasion

It was nighttime in Equestria, and everypony at Sweet Apple Acers was fast asleep. Only one pony was there that fateful night. Twilight Sparkle was sitting on a hill looking over the Apple Tree fields with a telescope watching the star filled sky’s. She was writing down some observations when she saw it.

“What is that?”

Twilight saw something in the sky. It was a bright star streaking though the darkness. At first she thought it was just a comet, but as she was reading its trajectory she realized something important.

“IT’S GOING TO CRASH IN PONYVILL!!!”

Twilight was already running towards the house where Applejack and her family was when the bright orange light fell out of the sky and exploded in the middle of the Apple field. The Alicorn was flung to the side of the path onto her wings by the shockwave. As she pulled herself up Twilight looked up to the sky to see the pillar of smoke rising into the night.

“What in tarnation is going on!?”

Twilight looked down the path to see Applejack with her siblings Big Macintosh and Applebloom running up to her. Twilight blushed herself off.

“I don’t know, but I’m going to find out”

The group walked cautiously though the trees until they found the crash site in the middle of an open patch of ground. The object was completely black and polished shaded like a ball with a large needle at the front stuck firmly into the ground and three large spikes pointing on the opposite side of it. Slowly Twilight reached out a hoof to touch it. The object was metal and despite falling from outer space cold to the touch. Applejack walked up to her side keeping her eyes on the large black dart shaped thing.

“What in the name of Celestia is this thing Twi?”

“I…I don’t know, I’ve never seen anything like…”

She stopped talking when she saw a series of lines in-between each of the spikes slowly stretching from a thin ring around the sphere to a point the direct opposite of the needle. Twilight jumped back just as the metal object broke into four pieces with a loud clang. One of the spikes was on each of the now curved triangles of metal wile the needle was still embedded in the earth along with half of the ball. Twilight looked for a moment before seeing that inside of the ball, was a strange thick harlequin green substance slowly dripping from the edges of its container.

“What in Equestria is this?”

Applebloom walked past her. Looked at the slime for a seconded. Poked it with her right hoof and then continued to lick it.

“APPLEBLOOM!” Applejack rushed over and took her sister in both her hoofs.

“Hay! This stuff tastes like our apples”

Big Mac was next to try the green goop and agreed with his baby sister “eyep”

Applejack looked at the two with ‘irritated sister’ eyes and looked at the green. Half reluctantly she took a hoof full of the thick sludge and ate it. “ay hate to admit it, but there right Twi”

“Will you guys stop eating that stuff! You don’t even know what it is!...or even where it came from”

Twilight looked at the metal object and then up at the sky. She thought to her self, where did this thing come from, it’s not a naturally formed meteorite that’s for sure, just what could it mean?

If Twilight was able to see underground, she would have seen that the tip of the needle was flashing bright red, and making a rhythmic beeping sound. A beep that many, many lightyears away was heard by something not of Equestria. Or even the same galaxy.
