A lone bipedal figure walked down the path in the everfree. Care free of what might be looking at him has prey. God damn I hate this side of the forest. And I traveled through here over a million times... he thought. He also thought about his name. His friends from way back then nicknamed him Sorrow for always wearing the colour black. Or always shifting into a grey wolf (which in his opinion, was his favourite).
His jet black hair swayed in the harsh winds of the forest. "I wonder if I go back to Ponyville it will look the same." he thought aloud. Not realizing he was being watched from within the forest. "I mean... I know its been over 1000 years, but still... hmph." he started to realize the extremely cold winds picking up. He shivered and started to take form as a grey wolf. His body slowly turning into dust and reforming him as his favourite animal. "Ahhh. There we go." he started to hum as the chilling winds couldn't get passed his unbreakable barrier of fur. He continued walking down the path as his quadruped form. Not being able to walk on his hind legs in this form was nice. He liked walking like this, more comfortable on his back. In his opinion. I wonder what my real name is... he thought.

Discord watched the bipedal menace reform itself as a flesh wolf. "Interesting..." he mused. He knew he should tell somepony about this, but disregarded that thought. "I'd like to see how this play's out..." he spoke to no one in particular. He kept keeping a watchful eye on the human from his hiding spot in the treeline. Before popping out of existence.

The human trudged through the forest until he came upon an exit. "Finally.... home..." he thought to himself. The forest weather cleared up a bit and warmed up, but he stayed in his wolf form. He walked out of the forest and stared at his cottage were there lay thousands of animals ranging up to the smallest of birds, to the biggest of bears. "Don't remember the animals... somepony moved in to this hellhole?". He kept walking until he heard chatter. "Mares". He poked his head from around the corner and saw four mares having a picnic on top a hill. He could see a yellow mare with three butterflies on her flank. "I wonder if she's the new owner." he walked up the hill behind the mares so they couldn't see him. He looked at the group. he kept on staring at them until he heard a screech and looked to see a purple mare looking at him wide eyed. "Shit". He took a few steps back as he saw all of them turn around and look at him. The shifter couldn't move. He was paralyzed with shock. The cyan one moved first and got up from her sitting position. "I'll get it!" she said before the orange one with a Stetson hat grab her tail with her mouth and pulled her back. They were all standing and had backed away. He was pretty intimidating, being only a few inches taller than them.
"no ah' say we let fluttershy talk Ta' it." the orange mare said. A really strong country accent was spoken from her.
"I agree, she is best with animals." the purple one said. Animal? he thought. "Fluttershy, come here please." she said.
He waited for the yellow mare. After a few minutes she appeared from behind the orange one and slowly trotted up to him. He growled and showed his teeth to her. "Now, now. Don't be afraid." she attempted to touch him, but he swatted her hoof away with his paw and snarled once more. She looked disappointed in him and spoke in a firm voice. "Now Mr. Wolfie can you please cooperate with me and calm down?" she again tried to touch him, only resulting in him to release a loud bark and walk past her, and the group. He didn't like the yellow one. He didn't really like any of them except the blue one. He could see a lot of loyalty from her. A true friend has lots of loyalty. He's learned from past experiences...
{••FLASHBACK••}<
"Get outa here monster!" Blitz yelled at The shifter. He was takin back by the sudden outrage.
"Blitz. You know I didn't do it... I could never kill a child!" the shifter yelled back. Blitz didn't have any of it. He just slammed the door and threatened he'd call the royal guard. The Shifter hung his head low and walked away. Ponies who saw him threw rocks and other heavy things at him. Including his 'loyal' friends. Causing him to bleed. He cried. And started running away from the slowly growing mob.
"I DIDN'T DO IT!" the shifter screamed for all to hear. He heard the ponies yell in anger as he sprinted away, into the forest.
{••FLASHBACK END••}<
The shifter started walking towards the cottage. Every step he took, animals scurried away. Including the larger types. Like bears. He could hear the galloping of hoofs and the flapping of wings. Sure enough, the four blocked his way. He scoffed and kept walking. They all looked terrified, yet they didn't get out of his way. "Stop!" the yellow one yelled at him. He kept walking. The blue one tried next. He stopped. They all blinked at him, not expecting it to work. "Now turn around and go into that forest, were you belong!" The shifter froze at those words. Those words were the same thing his lover said to him when he tried to return to Ponyville and explain that he didn't do it. He became angry and glared at the ponies. The yellow one was trying to calm down her animals, so she didn't notice my stare. The other three weren't as lucky. He glared at them with hungry, sorrow filled eyes. The two beside the blue one backed away. The blue one stood her ground, though she looked like she was going to fly away at any second, she stood there. Small sweat pellets forming. "Brave." He walked forwards until his snout was touching hers. She was shaking now. He snarled until she joined her friends at the side. And The shifter continued his walk to the cottage. Once he got to the back door. He growled and backed up. He sprinted at the door and rammed his head into the door, knocking it off it's hinges.
He walked in and looked around. "Gotta find my stash.." he started sniffing around the house trying to find the scent of rusting metal, and alcohol. He was a big drinker after he was 'banished'. Basically he just hid out in his secret cellar in the cottage. He kept sniffing until he finally found the scent. He could also smell the four mares behind him. He rolled his eyes and finally found the dry wall keeping the hatch hidden. He started cutting a large rectangular shape in the dry wall with his claw. Once it was finished he walked into the cut out door way. He started walking down a large set of stairs to a another doorway. This one was wooden. With a sigh and a simple tug the door opened. He walked inside.
"Welcome back, Sorrow." his robot said. He maid it years ago. He was surprised TW@ was still alive... "Things have been lonely without you..." she said. He couldn't smell the mares anymore so they must have left. Just in case though he double checked. Gone. "Thank god.." he started forming back into himself, and started lookin around. Once he found what he was lookin for he looked around again and looked at his robot companion.
"C'ya TW@. I'll be back... later." he said, then began walking away again. "Oh. By the way. I'm not sorrow. You know that." he said. Before walking off.
He walked outside and saw that the four mares are gone. The picnic is still there though. He began walking away before a dark menacing voice spoke. IT'S BEHIND YOU... he looked back and saw a creature. A creature with tendrils coming out of his face and back, black blood oozing from his eyes, and very, VERY, bloody clothes. He looked at the creature with fear. And the creature looked back... The shifter stared at it for a few more minutes, then sprinted off.
