All About Moonlight Sparks
Part 6-First Patrol

The morning sun was beaming rays of sunlight through the windows of Moonlight's room. Moonlight woke, rubbing his eyes with his hooves.

“I guess it's time to do some flying.” He said. As he was about to leave the room, his stomach grumbling. “But first I should get something to eat.”

Moonlight walk around the castle, hoping to find the dining room. On the way he was greeted by saluting from the royal guards.

“Where is it?” He asked himself. His stomach still grumbling. When he opened the door, he sigh in relief that he found the dining room.

“Good Morning, Moonlight.” Princess Celestia greeted him as she was having tea with herself.

“Morning, princess.” He said casually. Celestia didn't mind. She gestured to take a seat.

“Luna would be awake later. For now, sit down, eat breakfast and in the afternoon you will start your training as captain of the royal guard.” Celestia said. Moonlight nodded in agreement as he ate breakfast.

Breakfast is done, Moonlight smiled at the princess and said, “Thank you for the breakfast, princess Celestia.” He said. “You're welcome, Moonlight.” She said. After that, Moonlight walked out of the room and finds his way towards the entrance.

He made his way towards the entrance, he extended his wings and flew upwards. He made his way upwards before he crossed his wings on his chest and now falling. Like he calculated, he recovered and extended his wings and now flying, almost hitting the ground. He fly up again and started doing maneuvers. After an exhausting practice, he made his way on the hill near Canterlot. On the way, he saw Ember who was hanging out with Lox Wing, Softspot, and Shadow Storm at Suagrcube Corner. He continued his flight until he slowly glided downwards on the hill. There he walk into a tree and took a nap.

When he woke up it was afternoon, he stand up in four and started stretching. After his exercise, he realized that he's late for his training. He expanded his wings, gave it a few test flaps before he flew upwards.

When he reached the training ground, there he saw new recruits. Some are exercising, some are resting, and some are having a sparring match with each other. Moonlight was nervous at first, then he saw princess Luna. She seem to be talking with Moonlight's instructor. Luna spotted Moonlight and gave a wave.

“Moonlight Sparks, I'm glad your here. Allow me to introduce your instructor Blossom Flare. Blossom, this is Moonlight Sparks captain in training.

Blossom Flare stepped forward and extended a hoof. “It’s nice to meet you, Captain.” She greeted with a smile. “Likewise.” He greeted and extended his own for a hoofshake.

“I must be off now. I still have some important business to attend to.” Luna said her goodbye’s.

It took the whole afternoon, but it was over. All he want to do is go to his room and sleep the rest of the night. Apparently, he felt the pain growing and after that dark sphere covering him. When it was over, he was back to his batpony form. He sigh and made his way towards the castle. Once he is inside, he walked the rest of the way towards Luna’s room. He knock on the door until it opened. He stepped inside and saw Luna, who was waiting for him.

“I'm glad you made it.” She said. “Tonight, you will fly above Canterlot and what you need to do is make a scout report every patrol, every night. If there is some disturbance, like the bandits last time. All you need to do is stop them. If it's some magic disturbance that you can't do alone, return here and report it to us. Understood?” Luna explained.

Moonlight nodded as he flew out of the room. He scour Canterlot for any signs of trouble or disturbances. It wasn't too long until he heard trouble below him. It was the bandits from last time.

He sighed and said, “They're back already?” He asked himself. He lunge himself towards the bandits.

“Ok, that's everything. Let's go before-” One of the bandits was cutted off when something explode near them. All the bandits were knocked back. Some of them was unconscious, only three bandits left. They shook their heads, and it wasn't longer till one of them disappeared and spotted already unconscious. Only two left, another one was thrown and crashed near a wall. The last bandit is a unicorn, he stand his ground and he got a lucky hit on the wing of the vigilante, but it didn't slow it. He was caught and thrown to a wall.

After finishing up, Moonlight tied all six bandits. He check his injured wing to see if it's bad. Thankfully, it wasn't that bad. He walked his way to his home where Ember is still awake. He knocked on the door. Ember opened the door to see who was knocking this late.

Ember was shocked but she pulled Moonlight in a hug.

“Moonlight, oh I miss you. Tell me, how was your first day. Was it fun?” She asked.

Moonlight opened his mouth to speak before he was cut by a gasp from Ember. Then Ember took the injured wing and take a good look in it.

“What happened?” She asked.

“It's fine.” He replied.

Ember suddenly aim her horn towards the injured wing of Moonlight. After a little spark, Moonlight's body is covered by the magic aura of Ember. After a minute, it disappeared so as the injury. Moonlight was impressed and amazed by Embers’s healing.

“How did you do that?” He asked.

“I read a book about supportive/defensive spells. So I thought to myself that I'll learn them so I can help anypony in trouble.” She replied with a smile. Moonlight only smiled and pulled her in a hug.

“Thank you.” He said.

“No problem, if you have any injuries like that you know where to find me. Anyway I'm off to bed, good luck on your training.” She said as she walked upstairs. Moonlight only smiled and walked outside. He closed the door and extended his wings.

He flew upwards and towards the castle. He knew what Ember is capable of. He now have somepony to talk to if he gets injured in the future.
