Part 5:The Move

After last nights training with princess Luna, Moonlight still can't believe that he was appointed to be a captain-in-training of the royal guards. He would even learn how to raise the moon and sets the sun from Luna herself. When he ran out of his room, he wasted no time to get to the door.

When he opened the door, he was surprised that his friends were outside waiting for him. Ember walked towards Moonlight with a smile on her face. She quickly pulled him to a hug, then everyone joined in the hug. After their group hug, Moonlight was the first to say something.

“Didn't expect to get these attentions in one morning.” He said with a chuckle.

Ember smiled and said, “Well, everypony says that you will achieve you dreams, you just have to believe it.”

Lox stepped in and congratulated Moonlight. “Congratulations, my friend. You earned that promotion.” He said giving Moonlight a smile.

Moonlight was about to say something, before one of the pegasus guards spoke.

“Excuse me, Captain Moonlight but the princess are waiting for you at the castle.” One of the pegasus guards said.

Everyone turned to Moonlight, who was confused on why are they looking at him.

“What?” He asked. Then he saw smirks on their faces. Shadow Storm then replied.

“You better hurry up and don't keep the princesses waiting, ‘Captain Moonlight’. He teased before everyone laughed. Moonlight just sighed and was about to reply.

“We're just joking, Moonlight. I hope you take your new responsibilities seriously.” Softspot intervened. Moonlight just smiled and turned back to Ember, who was done laughing.

“You sure you can take care of yourself while I'm gone? I could visit anytime if you need help.” He asked.

Ember just shook her head and smiled at him.

“Don't worry about me, I'll be fine. And I will be visiting you most of time.” She replied.

“Good. Well I guess I'll see you all soon when I get back.” He said his goodbyes. Tears were falling on Softspot and Ember, even Lox dropped a tear and rub it off before anyone notices. Moonlight just smiled and turned to the guards.

“Okay, let's go.” He said as he hopped on the royal chariot and sat his saddlebag on the center, in case it falls.

With a simple nod, the guards took off towards the castle.

It was a quick fly towards the castle. As the chariot rested on the ground, Moonlight levitated his saddlebag to his back. Then he walked towards a corridor and stopped on a huge door of the throne room. He pushed the door with his hoof and slowly walking inside.

“I see you've accepted my sister's offer.” A female voice spoke. He turned on the side and saw Princess Celestia in her usual regalia. “It's good to see you again, Moonlight.” She added with a smile.

“Likewise, princess.” He replied and bowed in respect. He then heard a hoofsteps on the other side of the room. He raised his head and finds princess Luna walking towards them.

“I hope you don't mind, sister.” She said. Princess Celestia nodded and left the room, leaving the two of them.

“Are you familiar with the rooms of the castle?” She asked.

Moonlight shook his head and said, “No, princess.”

“Come with me, I'll explain the details on the way.” She replied and lead the way around the castle.

They were upstairs, on the way their were talking about what was the reason of his transformation and his duty as a captain-in-training. Then they approach a door. Luna pushed the door opened and they both walked inside the room.

“This will be your quarters during your stay here. I hope you find it comfortable?” She asked. Moonlight just smiled and took one more look of the room before he replied.

“It's fine. Thank you for asking.”

“I should leave you on attending on your things.” she said before she smiled once more and walked out of the room.

Moonlight had been in his room for hours, cleaning and putting all his stuff away. When he was done. He rubbed his forehead to clear it from the sweat. He then noticed something on his saddlebag, he dug into it and took out different items. The first one looks like a badge. Knowing the badge, he then remembered his mother, Green Ash.

Then he looked at a rock that was glowing in a fiery color. He then knew that it was a fire rune, after that he remembered his sister Ember Blaze. Tears starting to fall on Moonlights eyes, thinking that she might have some problems and he's not there to help.

The last object is a medallion. He took a closer look on what was written.

‘This medallion of gratitude will be given to Crimson Knight. A loyal, and great captain of the guards.’

It was a medallion on gratitude to his father, Crimson Knight. Then he was now crying. He laid his head on a pillow. He was worried about what will happen to Ember when he was gone. He then promised himself that he will protect his family and friends. Even risking his life.

As the sun will set in a few minutes, he joined princess Luna at her side once more in hopes to learn about how to raise the moon and set the sun. When the moon was rised, he was interrupted in his thoughts by a slight pain. Now he know what will happen next. He stepped back away from the balcony on where Luna was standing. She turned around and saw Moonlight with the dark sphere slowly covering.

When it was shrinking, he was back at his batpony form. Luna then thought of an idea.

“Moonlight, do you have a moment?” She asked. Moonlight nodded in agreement.

“Since you have dark magic inside you, did you know that dark magic can sense other magics as well?” She asked. Moonlight gave her a confused look and shook his head.

“And when your a batpony, you can see much better in the night. Am I right?”

“Yeah. Why?” He asked.

“Because I heard about the bandit incident. A batpony was seen by witnesses and took care of the bandits. Are you apart of this incident?” She asked. Moonlight was now getting nervous. He thought that the princesses wouldn't know about it.

“Ummm… Yes?” He replied nervously. But he was shocked when he heard Luna giggling.

“Um, what's so funny?” He asked in confusion.

“You, silly.” She replied while still giggling. “You thought I'll punish you with such heroism? She asked sarcastically. “That's why I decided to put your batpony form to good use.” She added.

“I'm not following.” He replied, still confused.

“Starting tomorrow night, you will patrol the night skies as a batpony and look out for disturbances.” She explained.

“Ohh.” He realized then. “Wait, what!!?!”
