Finding Freedom

I woke up, not to a snowball in the face, but a Pinkie Pie to the face. Pinkie was flying in her hot air balloon, and was bouncing up and down in the basket. The sun was barely up, and I yawned in her face. I turned on my side and ignored her. Ignoring Pinkie Pie is a futile effort. She pulled out a tuba and began playing it in my ear. I wanted to pop that balloon and send her flying for real.

I reluctantly stood on the cloud and shook myself awake. Pinkie was saying something, but it was too fast for me to understand. I just shook my head and jumped into the basket. She calmed down enough for me to understand what she was saying.

"It's today! This is so exciting!"

"What's today?"

"Silver Night!"

I looked around, and sure enough snow was falling from the clouds below us. It was an amazing sight, where I could literally see the snow coming out of the clouds. I don't know if that's how it works on earth, but this was pretty awesome.
Pinkie flew us over to Rainbow's house, which was situated a little outside Ponyville. I held a hoof up to Pinkie and said,

"I got this one."

I flew over to the front door and took one of the pots in front. I emptied the contents and flew over to one of the rainbow springs. I filled up my make-shift bucked and sneaked inside. I had never been in Rainbow's house before, but I was assuming that she slept on the top floor. Walking carefully, as to not drop my precious cargo, I looked around. Eventually I opened a door that revealed a large four-poster cloud bed. Rainbow slept to one side, and her breathing was steady.

Thinking of a way to make this an even better trick, I flew up to the bead. Placing my bucket down carefully on the bed, I laid down next to rainbow. I poked her side, and she turned to face me. She opened her eyes, and still groggy, smiled at me. For just a second she stayed that way, but then her eyes widened.

I acted as soon as they did. I leapt up and kicked the bucket so it spilled all over her. It fit really well, I mean now she was completely rainbow. Knowing time was of the essence, I took off through the house and flew out the still open door. Pinkie waved at me as I flew by and I shouted back,

"RUN AWAY!"

Soon after, a very frazzled and rainbow covered Rainbow Dash stood on her front door. She saw me flying away and chased after me. Now was the time to test my speed against her. I flew straight over Ponyville away from her. I looked back to see her gaining on me, and behind her Pinkie's balloon floated away towards Fluttershy's house.

I looked forward again, and with a grin on my face, sped up. I was flying pretty fast now, but Rainbow was still gaining on me. I pushed even harder, and once again felt resistance build up. I grinned even harder and my eyes narrowed. Sometimes speed is all it takes. I broke the sound barrier in silence. I looked back to see Rainbow colors fly out, and knew that she had done the same. I looked forward once again, and narrowly avoided a bird.

I flew fast, but apparently Rainbow flew faster. She was still gaining on me as we flew across the land. I knew that she would catch me if I kept going straight so I pulled a risky move. I let my wings fall flat, and I turned around in mid-air. I slammed into a cloud with my back hooves. Using my bucking experience, I pushed off of the cloud. Like a sling-shot, I raced across the sky. I passed Rainbow, who had a look of complete surprise on her face.

I sped back towards Ponyville, leaving a confused Rainbow in my wake. Ponyville got closer every second and I started to slow down. I could see ponies looking up at me, completely baffled. Most just shook themselves and went on their way, and a few shook their hooves at me. Oh right, I guess we did just make two sonic booms in the wee hours of the morning.

Pinkie's ballon could be seen heading back towards us, and I assumed that Fluttershy was with her. That left me two options, Rarity and Applejack. Deciding that I'd like to keep my body in good shape, I flew over to Rarity's boutique.
I opened the front door without even knocking, and to my surprise Rarity was already up and working. She was hunched over something, small enough that I couldn't see it.

"What're you working on there?"

Rarity turned to look at me with wide eyes. I saw a glint behind her before she moved in front of it.

"Nothing! Well nothing you should know about."

"Is it my present? Let me have a look!"

"Absolutely not! Besides that would ruin the surprise."

"I guess you're right. Well I was going to wake you up, but the boom must've gotten to you first. I guess I have to get AJ."

"Is that safe?"

"No probably not, but when has that ever stopped me?"

"Good point. I'll send Twilight to clean you up."

"Thanks for having faith in me."

"Oh I have faith in you, but I have more faith in Applejack."

I left Rarity's and flew over the farm. It was depressing to look at. All the trees were bare, and it was a contrast to the usual sunny day, with trees full of green and red. I landed next to the Apple house and debated on my next step. I could just scare AJ, but that would leave me injured. If I scared her from out here, her family was most likely to wake up. Then Big Mac would get involved, and from personal experience, I knew I would be injured.

My decision was made for me as AJ walked out the door.

"Top of the mornin' to ya Silver. What're y'all doing out here so early?"

"I thought I would wake you up before Pinkie got to you."

"Oh are we doing that get together later?"

"I suppose so. I think Pinkie has something planned. Also I think you owe me one. Since I y'know saved you from one of Pinkie's pranks."

"Uh… Alright."

"Meet up at the library!" I shouted at her as I flew away.

I landed in front of the library, and assumed my position on the couch. Lunar and Twilight were in the kitchen, defiantly looking worse for wear.

Twilight talked to me first, "Don't say anything until I have my tea. I don't have the energy to deal with you right now."

"Why? Lunar tire you out last night?"

All I got in response were a few books flying at me. I held out my hooves laughing. The door opened, and Pinkie, Rarity, and Fluttershy walked in. Fluttershy sat on the couch with me, while pinkie and Rarity sat on the floor.

Rarity looked around before saying, "Where's Spike?"

The dragon ran down the stairs when he hear Rarity call his name, "I'm right here Rarity!"

"Could you do me a favor and start a fire?"

"Of course I can."

Spike blew a little flame at the fire place, and in response it roared. I'll admit, I kind of wish I could do that. Throwing fire around would be pretty awesome. I can fly though, and that's enough for me. A little while later AJ walked inside, yawning as she did so (Is it weird that when I typed that, I yawned?).

"Mornin y'all"

Greeting from all of us chorused back all saying good morning. Well all of them except Pinkie's who said,

"and a super Silver day!"

She was really taking this 'holiday' seriously. Oh well I can't complain. After all it's a holiday celebrated because I exist. Twilight sat down with Lunar drinking her tea.

"Where's Rainbow?"

At that moment the door slammed open, and a very rainbow Rainbow Dash stood in the doorway. Without hesitating I jumped behind AJ,

"I'm calling in that favor now!"

Rainbow approached AJ and me, "I'm going to… I don't even know! But you will regret this."

AJ who was chuckling at Rainbow's appearance said, "Woah there Dash. Can y'all explain why you're uh.. more rainbow than usual?"

Rainbow said nothing and just pointed at me. She continued to advance on me and Applejack. AJ however stood still and didn't back down. Rainbow got close to her face and stared down AJ.

"Anyone else think they're gonna kiss?" I really need to learn how to shut up.

They both turned to look at me, and then at each other.

"Only if you kiss Lunar."

That was unexpected, "No thanks. I don't really want to see you do it, I was just curious."

Rainbow looked at me with a raised eyebrow, "You don't want to see two mares kiss?"

"Well no not really, I am entangled with Fluttershy if you remember. Besides, I don't want to kiss Lunar. So I get no benefit out of this."

As if to make my point, I took my spot on the couch and laid down with Fluttershy. Rainbow and Applejack looked nonplussed, but just shook their heads.

Rainbow said, "You're safe for now, but I will get you."

"Only in your dreams."

Pinkie interrupted us and shouted out, "PRESENT TIME!"

I shook my head and said, "Well technically Pinkie, the holiday is called Silver Night, so shouldn't we exchange gifts at night?"

"Are you kidding? I'm so excited I could explode! We can do something else at night."

Nobody disagreed with her, and I was outvoted. Pinkie, Rarity, AJ, and Fluttershy gathered heir gifts from where they had been under Pinkie's balloon. Rainbow flew up to her home to get hers, and I flew up into the tree. I gathered up my gifts, and turned around.

"GAH!" I nearly dropped everything I had In my hands. For a second it looked like the leaves had made an evil grin face and were laughing me. I shook my head, it must be too early in the morning. We convened back in the main room and the pile of gifts was ridiculous.

"Maybe next year we should pick one pony to get a gift." Good idea.

We exchanged gifts, and I watched with satisfaction as everyone opened theirs. It would take too long to describe every one, so make something up. However as we went through, I noticed Rarity had not given me a gift, or Fluttershy.

When the gifts were gone, Pinkie pulled out a piece of paper.

"Now we all head to Sugarcube corner for breakfast!"

We all poured out of the library, but Rarity held me back. She waited for the others to get out of hearing distance. She pulled out a small box and handed it to me.

"This is for you and Fluttershy."

I opened it and my jaw dropped. A golden hoop sat inside. It was adorned with small diamonds circling a pink jewel. It was bigger than a ring, and I assumed that it was meant to go around a leg. I could've made a joke about Rarity proposing, but this was serious time.

"Rarity I…"

"Shh. Listen, I know you two are ready for this. I know you've been letting everyone assume that the night you and Fluttershy were in the barn, you well, bucked. However, I saw what happened."

I blushed badly, that was embarrassing.

"I know that she held you while you talked about your fears of your relationship. I know that she comforted you, and if you are comfortable with her enough that she can comfort you, then that just reinforces my opinion."

"And that is…?"

"That you two are ready. You may not think so, but Rarity knows all."

"I don't know what to say."

"Well than I just accomplished the impossible, shutting you up."

"Except that I don't think Fluttershy will appreciate you proposing to me." Serious time over.

Rarity sighed and chuckled slightly. We left together and went inside Sugarcube Corner. I found breakfast cooking gone bad. Eggs lay spattered on the ground, and flapjacks on the ground.

I pushed Pinkie aside and said, "Let the master do his work."

I started off making batter for crepes. I don't do them often, but on special occasions they're worth it. I told Pinkie to pull out cream, and whatever fruit she had. I was wary of the cheese section, so I left that out. Twilight of course couldn't resist poking at me,

"I didn't know you could cook, especially if last time was anything to go by."

"Breakfast is my element Twilight. Just like yours is doing those 'things' with your horn."

She blushed and said, "I have never done anything like that!"

"What magic? I'm sure you do that all the time."

I laughed and they ate the food that had been laid out. I prepared myself some food when a loud crash came from outside. I dropped my food, and in despair looked at it. All that deliciousness, wasted on the ground. I followed the rest of the group outside, and collectively we gasped.

Princess Luna, who was now a whole 3 feet taller was giving us a creepy smile. Her eyes were blank, but narrowed at us. The ground was cracked under her, and she turned to face me directly.

Her voice was no longer feminine, but was now a deep voice that boomed, "Spirit of Earth, now known as Silver of Equestria. You have gone against the decree of Fate, and ignored your warning. I find you guilty of conversing with a known traitor, and giving him aid. For this you must be contained."

Luna stopped talking and prepared a spell.

Well Fuck.

AN: Well there you go. I'm going to go run once again, so I don't know if I'll start working on this until later today. Questions, criticism, praise, and trolling can be left in the comments! Am I starting to sound like a comment whore? In truth I probably am. I check more than once a day, just so I can see what people think, and I get excited to see a new one. Should I change the tags? What about the description? When I started I wasn't sure where this would go, so now that the end is almost here I don't know if they're accurate. Later y'all!
