Finding Freedom
Chapter 3
Previous ChapterNext ChapterI woke up, again. This time I wasn't looking at nothingness or a hospital room. The great blue sky greeted my eyes. I smiled, a real smile mid you, for the first time in a while. Suddenly something blotted out the great view. It was a face.. No wait it was a horse face. No it was a pony face! The pony simply stared at me, it was starting to become creepy.
"Uh… Hi"
The pony blinked at me.
"So uh… How are you?"
The pony blinked again.
"What's your name?"
The pony continued to just blink.
"Alright get outta my face before I make you, and by make you I mean punch you in the face."
The other pony finally opened its mouth "It's you, I knew it! I mean you look completely different, but you still have that necklace."
I looked down and sure enough my trademark necklace hung on my… green neck? Now that I noticed something was wrong I began to examine myself. The fact that I had read those fics where humans become ponies would make you think I was prepared for this, but I was not. I couldn't feel my hands, I had no hands! That was the weirdest feeling, not to mention that my arm muscles had been converted into leg muscles. Oh right, I had four legs.
That’s when I made the best discovery in the history of discoveries. I had wings. This was so awesome. I wanted to just fly around and nothing else. I wanted to feel the wind in my hair.. mane. Then I made the worst discovery in the history of discoveries, I had no idea how to use them. I could feel them there, and the muscles that moved them, but I had no idea how to make them propel me upwards.
"It's me Martin! What took you so long? Why did you wait?"
I felt like punching Martin who was now a dark blue unicorn colt with a lighter blue mane. I really had wanted to explore first and then come to a peaceful place. Looking around i saw the thing that had gotten us here in the first place, my katana. Oh well… Back to the important thing.
Martin had been talking the entire time and I only caught the last bit. "So what do we do first? Introduce ourselves? Should we tell them who we really are, or should we pretend to be simple ponies?"
I silenced him with a look, "First we introduce ourselves, honestly, won't do us any good to start off badly. Then we will gather supplies and information."
"Supplies and information for what?"
I looked far off into the sky "Information on the pony who has my hat!"
Martin face palmed at this, which turned out badly as he actually face hoofed, which probably hurt. We were currently on top of a hill looking down on none other than Ponyville. Martin was bouncing up and down almost ready to explode.
"Calm down there, come on let's get going." I started to move forward, but fell on my face. Martin laughed as I tried to get back up.
"I had a few hours while you were knocked out to practice walking and stuff, maybe you should start out slow."
I hated that he was already bouncing around, but he did have a point. As I got control of my new muscles, and fine tuned my movements, we planned our story.
"I say we simply tell them we went to sleep on earth and woke up here, no need to distress them about the suicide thing, and I don't even have an idea about the nothingness thing, so why bother." I said as I fell once again.
Martin laughed again and said "I thought you said we don't tell lies, and we should probably change our names, Martin doesn't seem very ponyish."
I agreed with him on this point, but names could wait, and so could plans for that matter. I could walk, and that meant that we could head towards Ponyville. I started to trot down the hill with Martin bouncing along behind me.
We entered the town as the sun began to sink in the sky. Some ponies were still out, but few gave us much attention. As we walked the clinking of my necklace comforted me. The town wasn't as I had expected it, then again the show rarely actually showed the whole town.
The whole town was circular with several rings. The outer most ring was the market, where stalls were set up and the smaller businesses were located. The middle ring was comprised of homes, and other housing. The inner ring had all the big stores, including the boutique and Sugar Cube Corner, which somehow was on a corner, even though it was in a ring. I ignored that even as Martin asked me about it. The town hall and post office could be found here. The library was more or less in the center of town. From that point four roads went out of the city like the points of a compass.
One road went off towards the Everfree Forest, and presumably Fluttershy's house. Another went to another forest, but a forest of apple trees. That obviously went to Sweet Apple Orchards. One of the roads probably went to Canterlot, but the other I had no idea.
That road lead up to a big tower that I had never seen before. At least I'm pretty sure it wasn't in the show. That worried me, we could be in any kind of Ponyville. Anyone of the hundreds of fandom worlds. The mane six could be guys, or everyone in Equestria could be dead, or anything.
Before we could make it to the library to introduce ourselves to twilight, who was the most understanding of the group we heard a voice scream out.
"You there with the necklace! Come over here for a second!" That was a very familiar voice.
I turned my head towards the sound of the voice and my jaw dropped. Rarity was walking towards me. Rarity was walking towards me. I can't say that enough times. I hadn't really felt the hugeness of the situation, but now I did. Rarity was walking towards me. I don't know if it's because I'm now a colt, or because I'm seriously messed up in the head, but she was beautiful. I know in the show they say she is supposed to be pretty, but oh my god I swear sparkles were coming off her mane. Did I mention Rarity was walking towards me, or would she be trotting towards me? Who cares, Rarity is here.
While all I could do was stare at her, Martin was able to actually speak. Maybe he had realized the hugeness of the situation before.
"How can we help you miss..?"
"My name is Rarity, and your friend here has simply the best green coat I've seen in ages. It's hard to pull off the color green, you should be proud darling."
I could only nod my head, remembering that Rarity disliked the color green.
She continued, "I was wondering if you could come into my boutique and model a few things for me, I would pay you, and I don't often get to work with a stallion of your color."
I finally found my voice "I would love to help you". That was good.
She smiled at me. I could've died from that look. "Well then shall we head off mister…?"
I looked at Martin and motioned for him to go to the library without me, didn't need him to ruin things. Wait, ruin things. Am I trying to date a pony? Hmm I'll have to examine myself, after the date though.
I turned back to Rarity "Dash, Green Dash."
She looked at me "That's a unique name, I have a friend named Rainbow Dash, would you happen to be related?"
I facehoofed, did I really just say dash? I must be an idiot. "I don't think so." I said with a fake smile.
She smiled back at me and turned to lead the way towards her boutique. I followed her in without a second thought, I didn't notice the balloon ship above the town with a bubbly pink pony in it.
