Finding Freedom
Epilogue 3: Now Who's a Fancy Lad?
Previous ChapterWe are still on Lunar's POV right?
I dropped my mailbag on the bed. I was tired, but not sleep tired. Just… tired. Twilight had gone off with Morkar, who had wanted to see something about everfree trees. Morkar had returned to us a few months ago, but when questioned about Silver's whereabouts, he shook his head and said,
"He's been gone for about 2 years since the battle, and no one's heard anything from him."
We have celebrated four Silver Nights without Silver. Some ponies didn't say anything, but I could see it in their eyes. They were sure Silver wasn't coming back. The news we had received wasn't exactly good either. Only me, Rarity, Twilight, and oddly Big Mac believed he would return. Big Mac just said,
"He'll be back soon enough."
Rarity claimed that love would bring him back. She said that the bump in Silver and Fluttershy's relationship, was just that, a bump. She went on and on about true love. Twilight said that he would come back because even he would need rest.
Me? I think Silver will come back, because he said he would. Everyone else seemed to think he was gone for good. Either that, or they just didn't think about it. Fluttershy seemed to be normal again, but whenever Silver was mentioned she teared up, and often left the room. Rarity had repaired the ring, for when he came back.
I walked back outside, I didn't want to sit around inside. The sun was setting behind Morkar's eyesore. I walked up the hill that Silver's statue was on, to watch the sunset. It really was a beautiful thing, and worth the time to watch.
Nothing other worldy had happened since Morkar came back. I did figure out that there wasn't actually anything going on between him and Celestia though. Apparently Morkar hadn't responded when she advanced on him. Unlike Silver and challenging her, Morkar simply ignored her. She seemed rather impressed, making me want to never know what she tried to get his attention.
When she had mentioned Morkar's 'large… brain.' he instantly began discussing all the things he knew about. He really did like to hear himself talk. Apparently they just spent their time actually studying.
I walked up the hill and was about to sit down. I looked up at the statue and shook my head. Someone had defaced the statue, drawing a mustache and a monocle on Silver. There was a pile of rags nearby, and I used my magic to pick one up. I tried to wipe the marker off, but it was stubborn. I nearly jumped in surprise when a voice from underneath the rags said,
"I thought he looked much better that way."
The rags shifted around, revealing a light green pegasus, with a brown tail. His cutie mark was an odd symbol. I looked at him and asked,
"Who are you?"
"A friend. Well a friend of a friend, but I think that makes us close acquaintances, not friends."
"So you are?"
"Nobody really, besides that's not important. I bring a message of good news."
"What's that?"
"It isn't going to rain tonight."
"Well that's fantastic."
"I don't think so. I like the rain, and lighting. Storms in general really. I like the wind blowing around, making odd noises. The sound of rain hitting glass, or wood. The flash of lighting, then the rumble of thunder. It's all calming in a way."
"Okay…."
"Oh right the message."
"That wasn't the message?"
"What wasn't the message?"
"The not raining bit."
"It's not going to rain? Shame I like the rain."
"I know."
"Anyway the message."
"Yes, what is it?"
"What is what?"
"THE MESSAGE!"
This guy was getting on my nerves.
"Hmm? Oh right of course. How could I forget? Well let's see here, I put it around here somewhere."
I nearly growled in frustration. Instead I stomped my hoof into the ground.
"Oh right, it's in my head. Oh right, the message is look up."
I looked up, to see nothing.
"I don't get it."
"I didn't either, I mean that message is like eons old, but I still don't get what he meant. I looked up, and there was nothing there. Was it the fact that there was nothing? Or maybe it was the sun."
"Was that the good news message?"
"Hmm? Oh no, that's what my teacher told me once. He hit me on the head after, don't know why."
"You have got to be kidding me."
"I know! It was completely random."
"Just give me the message you have for me."
"Do I have a message for you?"
"You said you did."
"Are you a Mr. Lunar?"
"Yes."
"Oh then I already messed up."
"I'm supposed to give this message to a Lunar, he doesn't have a prefix."
I face hoofed, something I hadn't had to do in a long time.
"Oh well close enough. Anyway the message is, 'By the way I'm bringing cheese for everyone.'"
"Is that really the message?"
"Yes."
"I don't get it."
"What's not to get? There is going to be cheese! For everyone! Are mini-horses usually this dumb?"
This pony was infuriating, "I'm a pony, and so are you. I don't who is bringing the cheese."
"I am? I hadn't noticed. Odd that, I didn't really want to be one. Well I've got to go now, start my adventure and such. Good-bye mini-horse! This was a fun meeting."
"Wait! What's your name, and who is bringing cheese?"
"No one's bringing cheese. Oh wait yes they are. My name is Poltagon, not that that means anything to you. Doesn't mean a lot to anyone these days. It used to though. Oh well, gotta fly!"
With that he disappeared, leaving me utterly confused. I stood still for a few minutes, running the conversation through my head several times. Wait… Poltagon, that seemed familiar somehow. Before I could think more on this another voice spoke up,
"Oh this is good, but it's missing something. Ah! There we go, now who's a fancy lad?"
I looked up to find that the Silver statue was now wearing a top hat. It fit very nicely with the mustache and monocle.
"Stop defacing this statue."
"Defacing? I improved this old thing. I gave it a new look, so to speak. Also, I'm sorry. I couldn't figure out how to get the cheese here, so there will be no cheese. Sorry to get your hopes up."
Another pony figure walked around from behind the statue. This one was covered completely by a cloak, complete with shadowy hood. The pony sat down on its hind legs and laid back on the statue base.
"Who are you?"
"Good question. I've been called many things, Lance, Avendale, Brother Sabre, and Epsilon, to name a few. The more common ones would be Commander Monoromei, and Lost Monoromei. My real name? I don't remember what my real name is, but then again I guess your name is what your friends call you. In that case, then my name is Silver."
I stared at the pony for a second, disbelieving that statement.
"It can't be."
The pony threw off it's cloak, revealing a deep green coat, and a white mane. A shield with a swirl in the middle was its cutie mark. Wings opened from the sides, and a wild grin was plastered on the face.
I stood dumbstruck as Silver looked at me, "What can I say? I love theater."
"Is it really you? I mean what happened out there? They said you were kidnapped, that you had been lost. Did you beat the regulators? What's with this Monoromei stuff?"
Silver stuck up a hoof to silence me. I looked into his eyes, they were so bright they almost hurt to look at. They spoke of knowledge and age old memories. They also held pain, and sadness. They were the eyes of someone who had lived a very long time, and experienced all kinds of things.
"Let me start at the beginning."

And now a message from the author:
It feels so good to write that word. I don't like 'the end' because it's not is it? Well it is of this Fic, but Silver's story goes on and on, just like we do. This is the last epilogue by the way, but still feel free to come back and comment whenever you feel like it. I'll still be checking for new ones when I'm fifty years old if I make it that far. I wish this fic could've been spread more, maybe I'll post it elsewhere.
Don't worry though, I think I'll stay on the fanfiction scene for awhile. I already have two ideas that I have been mulling over in my head. One features Caramel, Big Mac, Chance, and Storm (I don't think that is his name, but it stuck) going on an epic adventure. The other involves four guys who are completely different from each other ending up in Equestria once the earth is destroyed. They have to work together to save Equestria from remnants of the human race that wish to take over. Along the way they might become friends or something like that. If i decide to write anything, know this. They will be updated much slower than this.I will be working on a real book that i can one day publish. So that will take up a lot of my free time.
If you have any questions about the fic, than feel free to leave a comment, or send me a message. Although I have been having issues with the message thing here. I really enjoyed writing this fic, and I hope you guys enjoyed reading it. Maybe I should've made this a little sub-chapter…
A shout out to those who roughed this journey with me. This fic had some issues, with me especially. I half-changed the plot in the middle of things, and I often had to re-read my own fic to remember where I was. I would give you all a hug, but obvious problems are in the way, so have dancing Kirby's instead. <('_'<)^(-_-)^(>'_')>
- See you guys later, C.A.W.
