Starlight Glimmer's fur bristled precariously as she paced into Twilight's huge castle. She'd just recently gotten home from a rehearsal with Trixie; the ambitious unicorn had insisted they make a magic show so great and powerful that they got showered with endless roses-not that the silky-mained illusionist cared about that kind of stuff. Starlight had eagerly agreed, and after hours of rehearsing she was bone-weary.

But there was something urgent that Starlight just needed to talk to Twilight about. Something that couldn't even wait until tomorrow.

She burst into the library, panting hard, and slowly Twilight turned to face her, reluctant to put her beloved books down. The purple-furred Alicorn didn't exactly look bright-eyed and bushy-tailed-rather tired and irritated that Starlight had interrupted her studies, but she put on an affectionate smile anyways.

"What's up, Starlight? You don't look so good." Twilight looked Starlight up and down a few times, concern starting to brim in her violet eyes.

"I'm. . .I'm fine, thanks." Starlight did a good job at pushing the anxiety that was rapidly pulsing with her heart aside as she spoke. "I just need to tell you something. . ." She flattened her ears and looked down as she scuffed a hoof on the floor, looking back up at Twilight with big purplish-blue eyes as the princess spoke.

"Sure. You can tell me anything," Twilight's words were reassuring, "and I won't judge." She paused while wrapping a foreleg around Starlight's neck, who tensed at her touch and thought about if Trixie were to ever do that.

She probably doesn't even like me, Starlight thought with a disdainful scoff.

"So, tell me," Twilight started up again, "what do you want to talk about?"

Starlight swallowed hard, anxiety rolling down her face in wet little beads. Some fell into her mouth and the saltines spread across her tongue, causing her to lick it up and swallow it, thinking it tasted good. She licked her lips and took a deep breath before replying solemnly; "I love Trixie." Her voice was bold, clear, and vibrant, her chest puffed up in pride. But Twilight seemed to think otherwise.

"You WHAT?!?!?!?" Twilight's eyes blazed, her fur spiking in indignation. "Wh-What about your friendship lessons? Hm?"

"Relax, Twilight! Please! I at least think I do!" Starlight panicked, her heart slamming against her chest and the hackles along her spine lifting timidly. Her eyes were crazed with desperation, hurt, and love. Tears started to get caught in her tear ducts.

Twilight's arm left Starlight's neck bare and she faced her pupil furiously. "What did Trixie do to you?" She stalked around Starlight and eyed her suspiciously.

Oh, c'mon, Twilight! Starlight thought diffidently. Please don't do anything to my favorite pony! She pleaded silently that Twilight wouldn't hurt Trixie in any way, shape, or form.

"T-Trixie didn't do anything!" Starlight stuttered, terror-stricken. "I don't even know if she loves me!" Memories flashed in Starlight's mind as a voice whispered; "You do know, you do. . .Think back to your first kiss. . ."

All of a sudden it was one of Trixie's minor acts-one that happened quite some time ago, back in the beginning of their friendship. The crowd had went wild, begging for more. They threw roses, violets, money. It was the most successful Trixie had been.

Once the show had been over, Trixie barreled into Starlight, through the curtains. The blue unicorns' lips gingerly met Starlight's, and the powerful pinkish unicorn felt a wet tongue slither into her mouth and scrape against her teeth before letting go.

"DaaaaaAAAWWWI'M SORRY!" Trixie yelped, her mouth tingling. "That was an accident!" Her voice cracked with panic.

Starlight rubbed her head and sat up onto her haunches, her tongue swiping across her jaws. She wiped Trixie's fat saliva from her chin, and Trixie did the same.

"I-It's quite alright. I was excited, you were excited." Starlight was staring into Trixie's red face. "It wasn't just you."

"H-How can you be so nonchalant about it?" Trixie's gasped, astounded.

"Because that's the least of my worries." And it felt good, Starlight resisted the urge to smile, and her cheeks got a tad red. She trotted up to Trixie and gave her magic-mate a big hug.

Starlight blushed fiercely at the memory, her cheeks aflame. She was jolted to the present as Twilight's caterwaul rang shrilly in her ears; "ANSWER ME!!!!"

Starlight shrank into her fur. "I'm sorry, I didn't catch what you said befo-"

"Look," Twilight's voice was dark and impending as she thrust her muzzle up against Starlight's own, "I know Trixie did something to you! I know! There's no way in all of equestria that you could have a crush on such a pony! Such a loser!" Starlight felt a jolt of pain slice through her, her heart aching, and she winced.

Ouch, she thought, that stung.

Twilight's gaze-a purple forest fire-scorched into Starlight's fear-ridden own. "If you can't answer me," Twilight drew in a deep breath, turning tail on Starlight and starting to stamp away, "then you can just hide out in your room. I have some revenge I need to plot." And with that, Twilight was gone, off to her own room.

Tears swelled in Starlight's eyes and blurred her vision, her teeth chattering. She galloped to her room with tears flying behind her and slammed the door shut, leaping onto her bed and shoving her face in her pillow. The memory of what just happened flashed before her eyes, over and over until she couldn't take it any long. She rolled contemptuously out of bed and used her magic to get hold of a pen and paper.

Starlight scribbled so hard on the paper that it left faint marks in her table. She was about to finish the paper off when something, or somepony, tapped on her window.
