Too scared to love

Starlight Glimmer's ears twisted and flattened as stimuli to the irritable tapping at her window, causing her to scribble harder, and finally the piece of paper was finished off, and so she threw it in the trash.

It's all just my imagination, thought Starlight, whisking another piece of paper to her using her magic and quickly beginning to draw something. The tapping stopped as she started off with a hat, then a horn, and then the circular head. . .

TAP TAP TAP!!!! The tapping started up again, and Starlight growled before snapping her head around to face the window, rage blazing in her blue eyes. But her rage gave way to intense worry as she realized Trixie was feverishly tapping on her window, the blue illusionists fur bristling and her eyes desperate.

"Trixie!" Exclaimed Starlight, racing over to the window, getting a bit feverish herself. Beads if sweat rolled down her face as she scrabbled her hooves on her window and made a massive effort to open it.

Once Starlight's window was open, she yelped in alarm as Trixie's body crashed into hers and fell on top of the powerful, pinkish unicorn. She mustered up her strength to get out from under Trixie's heavy body, gritting her teeth and groaning at the effort, until finally she slipped out and front-flipped on the floor, crashing into her table.

"Oof!" Starlight sat up dizzily with imaginary birds twittering around in circles above her head. Once they had gone she scratched it, her face twisted in pain and regret for being so dumb.

Trixie moaned, muzzle-to-"muzzle" with the ground, lifting her head up. Her eyes widened in alarm and she squeaked; "Starlight! Are you OK?"

Starlight swayed side to side, standing up and putting a hoof to her aching, throbbing head. "I'm fine. . ." She said distortedly, shaking her head violently to clear it and, soon enough, the thick fog was pushed away. "J-Just, why are you here?"

Trixie placed her hat on her head using her magic, heaving herself to her hooves before replying; "Why did I come in this way or why am I here?"

"Both." Answered Starlight, obviously perturbed. A million questions buzzed in her head like a small army of the black, hole-ridden things changelings used to be, like if Trixie found out about Twilight being mad at her or if Trixie was just desperate to hang out with Starlight. Maybe Twilight shooed her out of her cart next to the castle? Fear started to prickle in Starlight's short pinkish fur.

"Well," Trixie began normally, but her voice rose and was washed over by panic and disconbobulation as she continued, "TWILIGHT IS OUT TO KILL ME!!!! I KNOCKED ON THE DOOR AND SHE WAS SMACKING ME WITH A BROOM, SAYING HOW YOU--"

"Trixie!" Starlight yowled, but Trixie kept on babbling.

"YOU WERE NEVER GONNA BE MINE, HOW SHE'D HAVE VENGEANCE FOR ME--"

"TRIXIE!!!!" Starlight's horn lit up an immense amount, sparks flying out of it as she preformed a shut-up spell on Trixie, zipping the unicorns mouth shut. "Could you PLEASE be more quiet? Twilight will get so suspicious!"

Trixie tapped her furry blue forehoof on the ground impatiently, her eyes scanning Starlight's room.

"What?" Starlight growled, but then realized Trixie couldn't talk, so she undid the spell briefly.

"Thank you, Starlight Glimmer." Snarled Trixie, before adding; "So, what's up with Twilight again?"

"W-Well. . ." Starlight blushed fiercely, embarrassment flooding into her. She paused to think of what she might say. . .

"Well?" Trixie persisted, lowering an eyebrow.

"I-I told her something. . .and she thought that you put some sort of spell on me or. . .or made me l-like you? I don't even know. . ." She quavered.

Trixie's muzzle scrunched. "Why would she think you like Trixie?"

"I-I don't know!" Starlight threw her head back and yelled, throwing her head back down with a horrified expression on her face.

"What did you tell Twilight"-Trixie thrusted her muzzle up against Starlight's hard, anger starting to burn inside of her-"that made her think you had a crush on the Great and Powerful Trixie?"

"I-I t-told he-her. . ." Starlight Glimmer felt tears start to catch in her blue eyes, and anxiety and fear got its claws clotted in her belly. "I. . .I. . ."

"Starlight!" Trixie's voice scored it's claws down Starlight's ears and hurt pressed onto her belly. "What did you tell Twilight?!"

"I told her about how awesome I thought you were. . ." Starlight's embarrassment sent yet another crash of red into her enflamed face.

"Really?" Trixie snorted, jerking her muzzle away and taking an indignant step back. "That's all? I-we-saved equestria, and THIS is how she reacts?"

"Well. . .Yeah." Starlight scrunched her muzzle and stared stupidly at Trixie until she replied;

"I'm not surprised."

Starlight felt a wave of relief blast into her and she felt a weight on her shoulders be swept off.

"Yeah, you know Twilight, heheh." She laughed phonily. "So, uhm, what brings you here?"

"Well, you forgot your jacket. . ." Trixie began, her voice now normal. "But, thanks to you ignoring me, I dropped it. Out the window." She added huffily, causing Starlight to blush shortly.

"S-Sorry. I thought it was in my imagination." She confessed, obviously abashed.

"Well, the Great and Apologetic Trixie forgives you. . ." Trixie said, wrapping a hoof around Starlight's neck and giving her a doting nuzzle on the cheek.

Starlight's face went numb with joy, fatuousness and love. "I-I. . ." She couldn't find words. "I love you. . ." Her voice was too quiet to hear, and so was Trixie's when she said something and nuzzled harder, drinking in Starlight's sweet scent.

This is the life, thought Starlight adoringly. I love her so much. . .I wish we could have even more moments like this. . .Then alarm shuddered through her, and she scrambled away from Trixie.

Trixie stared at Starlight Glimmer, taken aback. She held her forehoof up to her chest, gaping in disbelief. "What was that for?" She hissed, slamming her hoof down.

"I-It just doesn't feel right to be so close. . ." Starlight Glimmer lied. "For so long. . ."

Trixie winced, stung by Starlight's words. "Oh. . ." She whispered, bowing her head shamefully and scuffing a furry blue hoof on the ground. "I'm sorry. . ."

Starlight felt the sudden urge to give Trixie a huge hug and bury her face into the illusionists soft fur, but she contained herself. "It's okay." She stepped toward Trixie and lifted her head with a hoof, resisting the new urge to kiss her; their muzzles were so close they were almost touching.

Trixie just stared into Starlight's loving eyes and licked her lips longingly. "Well, the Great and Powerful Trixie doesn't feel it is right, either!" Trixie sneered loudly, slapping Starlight arm away aggressively and backing off as if a parasprite had just spit into her eye.

Starlight was nearly as hurt as she was when Trixie had revealed that she was only being her friend to win something to Twilight, even though the illusionist actually liked Starlight. . .Maybe even more than a friend. Starlight mustered up her affability and asked politely if Trixie would like to spend the night.

"As much as the Grrreat and Powerful Trrrrrrixie would love to stay, she'd be at even more risk and also have no food or water!" Trixie exclaimed.

"Oh, really?" Starlight Glimmer beckoned Trixie closer to her and started toward a secret chest under her bed, of which she pulled out with her magic. Gingerly she opened it to reveal a stash of snacks. . .and to Trixie's surprise, she had peanut butter crackers!

Trixie squealed in delight, jumping up and down on her hooves. "Peanut Butter Crackers!" She caterwauled, excitement drowning her in it's alluring depths.

Starlight rolled her eyes in amusement, whisking a package of Peanut Butter Crackers up to her and opening it, trying not to make noise. She drew one out and placed it in Trixie's watering, gaping mouth.

Not realizing the sexuality of what Starlight had just done, Trixie chewed the crackers in felicity, her eyes smiling at the wide smile spread across her gleeful blue face.

Starlight handed the crackers over with magic, and Trixie took them with magic and snuffed them down ravenously.

"What about water?" She asked with a mouthful of Peanut Butter Crackers in her mouth that were in the process of being chewed, even though with her crackers she didn't really care about anything else.

"I can always just snatch one up from downstairs. And if it's not gross enough for you, I can stash some dinner in my mouth and feed it to you. . .Yeah, that sounds disgusting." Starlight chuckled at her odd thought.

"Well, will our mouths touch in the making. . . .?" Trixie couldn't help but ask.

"Uh. . .I was thinking to just spit it out on a. . .a. . .I don't really have any plates. . ."

"Well, we're not birds, and my Peanut Butter Crackers will keep me fine~" Trixie drew her package of crackers close and nuzzled them, causing Starlight to chuckle in amusement and laughter.

All of a sudden their laughter was broken as Twilight's hoofsteps sounded through the corridor and her voice echoed off the walls; "Starlight Glimmer!"
