Chapter 1: After All this Time...

Frost stood in the rain and watched the ponies get off the train. One, by one, the ponies stepped out from the doors. Every different face made his heart sink in sadness.

It's been so long, Ditzy... Why haven't you come back? I miss you so much. Have you found somepony else? I hope your a lot happier there.

Frost was happy that it was raining, because he didn't want anypony to see the tears streaming down his face. He watched the final few ponies get off the train and approach their friends and family. The happy faces light up as they saw their loved ones. Everypony approached their friends and family and hugged. Frost just turned his head and began a slow trot back to his home. His memories began to haunt his head again.

"Are you sure that you have to go?" Frost asked, holding on to Ditzy's hoof.

"I'm sorry, Frost. My job requires me to get a re-evaluation of flight school. Since I didn't really finish, I need to take a summer course in Canterlot." Ditzy said, now holding Frost in her embrace.

Frost let her go and brushed a tear from his eye. Ditzy placed a hoof on his shoulder and gave him a small smile.

"It's just for the summer. Two months isn't a long time." Ditzy said nuzzling him.

"It is if I'm not with you." Frost said wrapping his hooves around her.

"Bye." She said softly.

"Bye..." Frost replied, feeling his heart slowly sink.

Frost smiled and waved goodbye as she boarded the train. The doors shut and Ditzy popped her head out the window. Frost looked and smiled as she gave him a wave goodbye. The train slowly began to move and she popped her head back in the window.

"I'm missing her already." Frost said to himself as he slowly trotted back to his house.

As Frost shivered in the cold rain, he held his head low. He saw his reflection in a puddle below. His eyes had dark rings around them again. His mane covered one of his eyes. As he gave a small sigh, Frost continued down the muddy path to his house.

The sound of rain beating against the window calmed him. He closed his eyes and began let his mind wander in memories again.

-End of the First Year's Summer-

Frost had anticipated this day for so long. He had woke up really early to be sure he watched as the train arrived. In his mouth, he bit down on a rose to give Ditzy once she arrives. The train came to a stop and Frost's heart was pounding out of his chest as his smile grew wider. Every pony left the train and ponies began to board. Frantically looking for Ditzy, his heart began to break. The train slowly left the station and the rose hit the floor. His eyes spread with shock and sorrow as he watched the train disappear in the distance.

A tear hit the cold wood below Frost's hooves. Another depressing sigh echoed through the quite house. Frost had given up hope and sat on his haunches. As he looked around the empty room, something caught his eye. Under the dresser, was a letter with a heart on it. He opened it up and read the perfect writing on the paper.

Dear Frost, I want you to know how much I love being around you. When we were fillies, I could never keep my mind off you. As much as it pains me to leave next summer, my heart always belongs to you. I will never give up on you, Frost.

-Love Ditzy

A tear landed on the small pink heart that was drawn at the bottom of the page. His heart ignited and he slammed a hoof on the ground.

"Ditzy, I'm coming to find out what happened to you!" He roared in the silence of his house.

Packing up his things, he also stuck the letter in his bags. Back out into the rain, he flew up above the clouds. Hope began to form in his heart as he began his search for Ditzy.

After what seemed to be hours of flight, he collapsed at the doors of an inn. Opening them, he began to rent a room for a week. Taking the room key, he trotted up the stairs to the next level, where his room will be.

Opening the door, he saw the bed and instantly collapsed on it. Even though it had some questionable stains, he was far to tired to care. Closing his eyes, he fell asleep to the sound of the rain.

Opening his eyes, he let out a large yawn and began to trot to the mirror. He saw the pony before him, so pent up looking and sad. He sighed again and took off his still wet hoodie and hung it over a chair. Out the window, he saw many ponies wandering the streets. As he grabbed his bags, he opened the door and trotted down to the lobby.

Outside, the warm sun had already evaporated some of the puddles. Shielding his eyes with a hoof, he flipped his made over his face to block some of the light. As he began to trot to the flight school Ditzy told him about, he began to wonder what to ask her once he finds her.

As he opened the door to the building, a mare sitting behind a desk glared at him.

"May I help you, sir?" The mare asked him.

"Yes, I'm looking for somepony actually. Her name is Ditzy Doo. She told me that she came here some time ago." Frost said, sitting in front of the desk.

"Hmm.... Ah yes, Miss Doo." She said, flipping through a book. "She came for a re-evaluation then disappeared. I'm sorry, but that's all I know."

"Oh, okay..." Frost sighed trotting through the doors.

As he sat down at a coffee shop, he began to think of the next place to check. A waiter floated a cup of coffee over to him and set it in front of him. He looked up to her and saw a smile on her face.

"Here sweetie. You seem a little down. Take this cup on the house." The unicorn said softly.

"Uh, thanks..." Frost said looking at her, and forcing a smile.

He was a little shocked by a sudden gift of generosity. Calming his mind, he took a sip and set it back down on the table. He rested his head on the table and sighed.

Suddenly, a sudden burst of stinging heat spread over his leg. Standing up he began to wipe the hot coffee that had been spilled on it. Looking back at the table, he saw a baby unicorn. Her coat was a light purple and she had a golden mane. After she finished giggling, she opened her eyes, revealing her crossed eyes. Frost took a deep breath an sat back down.

"It's alright. Ya know, you remind me of... An old friend." Frost said, patting the little filly on the head.

"I'm terribly sorry sir! Dinky, please don't leave mommy's side again!" A voice said.

"Oh thats okay. Its not a bi-" Frost stopped in his tracks and looked at the mare that stood before him. A sudden knot formed in his throat and he swallowed it down, trying to speak. A soft mutter sounded from his lips.

"D... Ditzy?"
