A Lightning Storm

Vinyl Scratch:

I rushed him to the Hospital as fast as I could, the rain pouring down on us, my hooves splashing in the mud I ran through Ponyville.

"HELP!!!" I yelled as I busted through the hospital doors,

The ponies looked up glumly, but saw me and him and rushed to our aid, slamming him down onto a bed and rolling him into a nearby room, I ran after him, but was blocked by two doctors at the doors,

"Only his family can see him right now" The stallion blocking the right door said,

"But... I am his family!" I shouted, trying to push past

"Oh?" the mare on the left said, "Are you his sister, or wife?" she asked,

"Uh, Yeah! I'm his wife!" I said, Lying

"We're going to need confirmation of-"

"I'm just his Marefriend..." I said with a sigh, cutting her off

"Then you may not enter" She said, "I'm sorry miss"

"I'm the only family he has!" I shouted, "For Celestia's sake let me in!"

"Why don't you get his mother and father and come-"

"They are both dead!" I yelled, tears streaming down my cheeks

They looked shocked and stepped out of my way

I barged in through the doors, seeing him lying motionless on a bed, eyes opened, his pupils darting around,

"Mirage!" I said as I ran to his side accidentally grabbing his hurt hoof,

"Vinyl?" he asked, weakly, his purple eyes widening when he saw me

"I'm here" I said, tears welling up in my eyes

"Don't cry" he said, "Don't you dare cry for me"

"I'm sorry" I said, "It should have been me"

"No" he said, "It must have happened for a reason"

"The reason was me leaving you alone" I said,

"Don't talk like that!" he shouted,

The sudden hostility frightened me, he had never yelled at me out of anger

"What's wrong?" I asked, narrowing my eyes

"Nothing" he said, rolling over,

I walked to the side he was facing and saw his eyes, they weren't the normal purple, they were black, pitch black

"Your eyes..." I said, reaching over to touch his face

he smacked my hand down, glaring at me, with those emotionless eyes

"Don't touch me!" he yelled,

"What's your problem Mirage?" I asked, tears starting to fall from my eyes

"Who the hay is Mirage?" he asked, looking right at me

"What?" I asked, "You're Mirage!" I shouted, closing my eyes letting the tears run free

"Vinyl?" he asked, emotion returning to his voice

I opened my eyes, revealing his purple saucer eyes looking at me

"Why are you crying?" he asked

"Your eyes..." I repeated putting my hoof to his face, expecting him to bat it away like last time but he welcomed it.

"What about them?" he asked, smiling

"They... change..." I said, looking down at his smile, seeing two sharp teeth sticking out like a sore hoof

"You have fangs!" I said, holding his mouth opened

"Yeah So what?" that emotionless voice was back, I let him close his mouth and looked at his eyes, seeing the two black ones,

"Mirage wake up" I said,

"Who the hay is-"

I didn't let it finish I just slapped it across the face, he blinked revealing Mirage's eyes again

"Whew" I said,

"Why'd you do that?" he asked, rubbing his cheek

"You keep changing back and forth" I said,

"What do you mean?" He asked

"You keep turning into... somepony else"

"He bit me..." Mirage said, drooping his eyes in shame

"Who?" I asked,

"Blackblood, He was a Vampony" He said,

"So does that mean..." I said, knowing the inevitable

He put his hoof in his mouth and felt around, poking where his fangs were,

"Yeah..." He said, Tearing up

"Don't cry" I said, Holding him

"I'm weak" he said,

"No your not" I said, still embracing him

"But-"

"You're not weak Mirage... you'll get back at him" I said

"If I ever get my hooves on him again..." He started

"I know" I said,

"Mirage..." a voice said

I turned my head to see Celestia standing at the foot of his bed, with tears in her eyes

"I'm so sorry" she said, joining the embrace, making it more or less awkward

"Celestia..." he said,

"Yes?" she said, backing up,

"I'm... a..." he trailed off, and ended up just showing his teeth,

"I know..." she said, letting a single tear run down her cheek

"Do you remember Vinyl?" he asked, gesturing to me

"How could I forget?" she said, smiling, "I heard about you two from Rainbow Dash"

"Oh..." I said, remembering all of Rainbow's questions the day before.

"and... I have very grave news" she said, Tears running down her cheeks, flowing freely

Mirage and I looked up at her, interested

"The Lunar Republic has Declared war on The Solar Empire"
