Dashing through Troubles

Rainbow Dash dashed (heheh) to the CMC and said, " I've got a plan."  She went to Twilight's Castle, and yelled through the door, "I'm going to Cloudsdale if you need me!"

RD's POV

So I've got this awesome plan, well, I'm always awesomeness but I've figured out who to take with me on the CMC camping trip.

My old buddy from flight school.

Hopefully we can come.. he's one of my best friends.  Maybe he doesn't have Wonderbolt practice this weekend.  *sigh* The Wonderbolts.  The dream team.  My lifelong goal.  I started my flight to Cloudsdale, my wings flapping against the wind.  I thought about how bitter I was when he got the Wonderbolt acceptance letter.  I guess that was why we had a small fallout afterwards.  This just made my wings pump even harder, faster than anticipated.  I closed my eyes and breathed in the fresh, crisp, clean afternoon air. I did it until I heard and felt the fluttering of wings.

"WATCH OUT!!!!"

The voice of the stallion I crashed into sounded vaguely familiar...

" Rainbow Dash? What are you doing here?"

"Soarin?"

"What a coincidence! I was actually going to fly to Ponyville and see if you had time for lunch!" The handsome, navy-haired stallion said.

" Actually I was going to the same, that's why I flew over to Cloudsdale!"

Wait did I just say Soarin was handsome?

Soarin's POV

I never thought I would crash into Rainbow here, I guess I was just lucky I did.  Wish I was lucky at Las Pegasus though.

As we caught up on all the things we've been through since the last time we saw each other, I caught myself looking at Rainbow, admiring her rainbow-mane, cyan fur, and sparkling magenta eyes... it was enough for me to fall head over heels for her.  But I can't fall in love with my best friend...  *sigh* When did I get so mushy? When we were in flight school together, we were best friends, and did everything together.  When she first moved to my school, my life changed.

I was the shyest pony in my class, maybe even the shyest in whole grade.  But when she came, I broke out of shell, and we became one of the most popular ponies in the whole school.  My ego soared. (Hehe)  We were only in the 5th grade.  Come to think about it, she was the one who pushed me to my limits, who challenged me in everything, she was the one who made me a Wonderbolt.  She was the event that changed my life.

Being the gentle-stallion I was, I asked if she would go to lunch with me.  I took her to the best restaurant in Cloudsdale.  There's actually one in Canterlot, but they opened another store in Cloudsdale.  It's called the Tasty Treat.

Rainbow Dash and I admired the beautiful architecture, since it had been a while since the two of us last came here.  I was at Fillydelphia and Canterlot, while Dash was saving Equestria and living a quiet and nice life in Ponyville.  The streets of Cloudsdale weren't that busy, even though it was lunch hour.  We turned into a small pathway, with the smells of food wafting through the air.  It was a small place, the stench of food overwhelmed everything 100 feet away from it.  The bell on the door rang when we entered the restaurant, and we trotted to the closest table to the kitchen.  The two of us sat down on the plushy, and squishy seats, and admired the rustic furniture, which was one of the things it was unique and famous for.  The waitress took our order, and I took a vegetable soup, while Rainbow Dash ordered a plate of curry.  Over lunch, she asked me something...

RD's POV

I told Soarin about the camping trip and he said, sure!  This is going to be great! This is going to be just like old times, where we roasted marshmallows and told ghost stories.  Just the two of us. Just the two of us...  Woah! Snap out of it Rainbow! You can't have a crush on your best friend.  You're Rainbow! You're too cool for a coltfriend.

He payed for the meal, and we walked outside the restaurant.  I thanked him for a great lunch/catch-up.

I said, " So I'll see you again this Friday?"

He replied with, " Yep! Friday morning at your house."

We turned around to go our separate ways, when all of a sudden he hollered, "Wait, I forgot something!" He walked over to me, clearly uncomfortable.

All of a sudden he stepped forward, blushing, and embraced me in a hug.  My face was red as a tomato, and I hugged him back.  He mumbled, "So I'll see you again on Friday?" I whispered, "Yep!"

As much as I didn't want to confess... I didn't want him to let go.

My bitterness for him faded.

Soarin's POV

It was purely instinct I swear.  But I was the most surprised when she hugged me back.  We used to hug back in flight school, but this hug was different.  This hug made me feel like I could run a thousand miles.  This hug made me feel the electricity, all my worries gone, like rain on a summer earth.  I saw how uncomfortable she was, yet, I feel no regret.

When I flew back to the Wonderbolt compound,  I accidentally crashed against Wave Chill, knocked over Misty Fly, and tripped over a yoga mat, just because I was thinking about Rainbow.  Suddenly...

"SOARIN! WHAT THE HAY IS GOING ON WITH YOU!  YOU'VE LEFT FOR AN HOUR, AND YOU'VE ALREADY LOST YOUR MIND!  WOULD YOU MIND TELLING ME WHAT'S WRONG!"

"N...n..nothing..g..g, absolutely nothing, Spitfire"

*Spitfire rolls her eyes*

" YOU BETTER EXPLAIN WHAT HAPPENED TO ME!"

By now, the crowd grew, and Fire Streak whispered to his brother, Lightning Streak, "OoooOoo... someone's in trouble."

Rainbow Dash's POV

I kept pondering on the way back to Ponyville, and looking out the window of the train car.  I was too tired and full to fly back to Ponyville.  What the hell happened outside the restaurant?  It all went by so fast!

" Next stop, Ponyville!"

The whistle blared, and it threw me out of my daydreaming.  I just remembered what the real reason why I went to find Soarin, I needed to find a pony to help me with the CMC camping trip.  Well, mission accomplished.
