Copper Cogs Comes To Town

It was a sunny afternoon and Rarity had just arrived at Ponyville Schoolhouse to collect her little sister, Sweetie Belle, and her friends. She sat outside, waiting for the school bell to ring, just enjoying the relaxing sunshine. She made a mental note to ask Rainbow Dash for more days like this some time.

Rarity sat there for a few minutes, lost in her thoughts, when suddenly the bell rang and a herd of school-ponies came rushing out the door.

"Hi Rarity!" said the familiar squeaky voice of her younger sister, and Rarity turned to see the younger white unicorn standing there accompanied by her friends.

"Ah, Hello Sweetie Belle, and Applebloom and Scootaloo" said Rarity, addressing the 3 fillies. "Are you ready to go?" she asked.

Sweetie nodded before jolting and turning around, running back towards the school-house. Whilst she was running, she yelled, "Hold on I forgot something!!" Rarity and the other 2 fillies followed after her, and arrived in time to see a strange mare standing next to Cheerilee hand her a small box. Rarity stepped inside and coughed, making herself known.

"Ah, you must be Rarity." said the earth pony mare, who had a copper coat and brown mane, along with a pair of copper goggles resting atop her head. "My name is Copper Cogs, I'm a friend of Miss Cheerilee's." The mare offered her hoof to Rarity, who politely shook it and looked to Cheerilee for further explanation.

"Sweetie Belle came to me for help with her magic, and though I know very little about magic, her horn just didn't seem able to produce magic itself." explained Cheerilee. "So I got in touch with Copper, who invented a device which enabled her horn to produce its own magical essence."

Rarity nodded slightly, taking in the information. She was unaware that such a device was even possible, let alone actually existed. "I...uh...I see" said Rarity, stammering as she started to make sense of the situation. Sweetie Belle took the device out of the box and they all saw that it was a small nub, designed to look like the tip of a unicorns horn and presumably was meant to fit over Sweetie's own horn.

"Its magnetic, so once you put it on it should clip itself onto your horn, and only you can take it off." Copper said, removing the fake horn from the box and attaching it to Sweetie's. "However, if there should be an emergency where someone else needs to take it off, just say 'Clockwork'." She tapped the fake tip on the side once, and it secured itself to the young unicorns horn. You could barely tell the difference.

"Yay!" said Sweetie, and looked over at a pencil lying on the floor, and her horn glowed a pale green colour, easily levitating the pencil back over to the desk it fell from. Sweetie looked ecstatic. "Thank you thank you thank you!!" she exclaimed, tackling Copper to the floor in a tight hug.

Copper chuckled. "Your welcome, Sweetie." she said, standing up and walking towards the door. She stopped in the doorway and turned around to say "If there are any problems, I live in the house next to Vinyl Scratch, the one with the giant cog above the door. You cant miss it." The others nodded and Copper turned back around and walked away from the school and towards town. The shocked Rarity said goodbye to Cheerilee and her and the excited fillies headed back to Carousel Boutique, where Sweetie Belle showed off with her new magical abilities.
