Chapters I groaned in pain and confusion as I awoke in a forest. Looking around, I saw the stranger sight of loli anime fox girl. I got up, walking over to the girl and gently nudging her with my foot.
The light blue-almost-white short haired girl was wearing a Heian-era imperial clothing with a hakama on her lower half. On her back was a small sheathed blade of some sorts. A wakizashi, if I remember correctly.
I tilted my head a little, nudging her again with my foot. The small girl groaned in irritation before shoving my foot away then hugging her large white tail.
I simply nudged her again, a little harder. “Wake up. ” I said, a little startled at the strange way my voice had changed, but decided to deal with it later.
She groaned again before sitting up and rubbing her eyes. “I’m up… I’m up…” The fox girl stretched. “Eh? I don’t remember falling asleep.” She got up and dusted herself off.
“It seems we’re both in a strange situation. ” I commented.
She jumped. “Wah, what’s with that voice?!” The girl yelled before finally turning to me. Looking up and down she pointed. “Nice Herobrine Cosplay.”
“Thank you… but I do not think it’s a cosplay anymore. ” I replied, looking around.
“What do you mean?” The girl asked tilting her head and not noticing her swishing tail.
“Well, I have a feeling you didn’t have that before. ” I said, pointing to her tail.
She turned to her tail. “What my tail? It’s part of… the... cosplay.” She stated before finally noticing that the column of fluff was moving on its own. “Uhhhh.” The girl grabbed it, trying to make it stop. “Yep, it’s real… WHAT?!”A couple birds were scared witless.
“Now is not the time for panic, we should find civilization. ” I said, turning and walking in a seemingly random direction. She turned back to me before stumbling after. Once she caught up she starting playing with her new found ears softly.
“What are you doing? ” I asked, raising an eyebrow at her.
“Just playing with them a little.” She said before stopping with a light embarrassed blush. “They're so soft.”
I tilted my head, before shrugging to myself and continuing forwards. The girl leaned forward. “So, do you know where we are?”
“A forest. ” I replied without hesitation. She rolled her eyes but didn’t say anything afterwards and settled for watching the scenery. Eventually, we came across what appeared to be a castle, it looking like it was just built.
“Finally…” The fox girl said with her hands behind her head. “Hopefully now we can get some help.”
“Hopefully. ” I agreed. As we walked up to the castle, we saw two what appeared to be anthropomorphic ponies in golden armour.
“Not… what I was expecting.” The girl blinked in surprise before whispering to me “Think they’ll ask question first and skewer us later?”.
“We’ll have to find out .” I replied, shrugging.
“Ok.” Neither of us moved for several seconds. “You go first.” She patted my back.
I rolled my eyes, walking forwards, despite the fact she was the one with a weapon. “Halt who goes there!?” One of the guards yelled, slamming the butt of his halberd on the ground.
“Hello .” I said, slightly nervous.
“Hello and who are you!?” The guard said a little too aggressively. “For that matter, what are you?!” The other guard seemed a little put off by the hostility but hide it quickly.
“Calm down, I mean you no harm. ” I said, raising my hands slightly in a surrendering position.
“Ease up a little.” The other guard told the other, who just gruffed. “However, you are trespassing. State your business here, stranger.”
“Me and my… companion appeared in the forest behind me, and we were simply looking for civilization. ” I said honestly.
The two guards looked behind me and saw the girl give them a small wave. “Well you found it, and what do you mean ‘Appeared’?”
“We were somewhere else before, and appeared in a clearing passed out. We woke up roughly half an hour ago. ” I told the two.
“So a spell or something brought you here?” The politer guard guessed. “I suppose we could let you in and get some help.”
“But don’t try anything!” The hostile guard poked me with his helbert firmly.
I raised an eyebrow, gently pointing the weapon away from me. “Thank you, let me get my companion .” I said, walking backwards.
“So it went well?” The girl asked the moment I got to her.
“They are letting us in so we may rest. ” I informed her, smirking.
She smiled back. “Right, then lets get going.” She said placing a hand on her hip before walking forward. We went back to the guards, waiting for them to escort us to a room.
“Hold on, you need to hand over that weapon.” The more polite guard demanded and the girl handed it over without argument. “Good, now follow me.”
The two were guided to a guest room, with a bed large enough to comfortably hold the two in it. “Um, are we going to be sharing that?” The girl asked pointing at the bed.
“I don’t see why not. ” I said.
She fumbled with her hands. “I guess if there's no other option.” She accepted before taking her shoes off and flopping on the bed.
“We’ll send for you in the morning.” The guard said before both left.
I followed her into bed, lying next to her. “So… any plans for what we should actually do here? ” I asked.
“No idea.” She shrugged helplessly. “I guess try and find a way back home would be our end goal right?”
“Most likely… maybe I could make some kind of portal? I know for a fact this world should now have a Nether, and if fanon is correct for me, then I should control the mobs that might spawn there, so I should be able to find us a way home with time .” I said, a thoughtful expression on my face.
“Yeah maybe.” Then the girl giggled. “You know, we don’t even know eachothers names and we’re already sharing a bed.” She joked before sitting up. “Call me Kon.”
“Simply call me Herobrine then .” I replied.
“It’s nice to meet you.” Kon said with a small smile before laying back down.
“We should rest now .” I brought up.
She nodded, looking ready to pass out. Kon grabbed a pillow brought it closer to her and laid her head on it. “Goodnight.”
“Goodnight .” I said, tucking her in a little before falling asleep myself.
The next morning…
I woke up to a pretty embarrassing yet adorable situation. Whilst we were asleep, Kon had managed to make her way onto my chest, her sleeping on me with an adorable look on her face. The soft snoring only made it more adorable.
I didn’t really want to wake her, so I simply hugged her a little, lying back and letting her sleep. The motion did make her make a soft noise but she didn’t wake from it and unconsciously snuggled, her ear twitching a little.
I blushed the smallest of amounts, gently petting her with one hand. She hummed a little as I felt her soft ears and her tail wiggled a little. I smiled, but decided she needed to awake soon, so I gently shook her.
Kon was stirred much easier than before and was already starting to sit up with a stretch. “Morning Herobrine…” She yawned and rubbing her eyes again.
“Morning. ” I said with a smile.
Kon then stopped rubbing her eyes, which made her see who she was laying. “Ah! S-sorry!” She yelped getting off of me with an embarrassed look, accompanied with a embarrassed wiggle of her tail and twitch if her ears.
“It’s alright, you looked adorable. ” I told her with a chuckle, sitting up.
She seemed to disagree, but she appreciated the compliment. “So uh, what now?”
“We wait for the guard to send for us. ” I replied with a shrug.
“Ok.” Kon said and she turned around and hugged her knees close to her to settle her chin on them. “So maybe in the meantime, we could talk about each other?”
“Sure, what do you wanna talk about? ” I asked, sitting against the headboard.
“Likes, Dislikes, hobbys that sort of stuff.” She listed off with her fingers.
“Well, alright… I like to stay at home mostly, and dislike jerk people. I usually would go on my laptop or read, but one of those isn’t an option right now. ” I told her, smiling.
She smiled back. “Not much to tell about me. I like to leave the house but still prefer staying in doors, despise racists with a deadly passion, mostly play video games and get mad for bad luck or bad skill.” She started off, counting off her fingers. “Like to read a lot of stuff, massive anime otaku, I like chemistry. Animal lover and a bit of a villain fanatic… Okay, not exactly ‘Not much’.” She giggled a little.
“Then what about me? ” I asked with a smirk.
“Uh.” She giggled at her lack of a response. “I got no reply to that.”
“Alright… I wonder how potions would work for me? ” I pondered.
“Maybe the same way they always do?” Kon said with a smile. “I wonder if they would work with me though.”
“I meant how they’d look from my perspective. ” I clarified.
“Oh.” Said Kon in understanding. “Well, I’m not sure.”
“ Whatever, any- ” I started to say, before being rudely interrupted by banging at our bedroom door.
“Are you two awake?” Both me and Kon recognised the more aggressive guard’s voice from the other.
“Yeah we’re awake!” Kon called out, looking a little annoyed.
The guard opened the door. “Good. Now follow me, the Princesses wish to meet you two.”
Kon blinked. “Princess?” She whispered before getting off of the bed. I shrugged, following her lead and getting my shoes on. Kon also got her shoes on.
“Alright, lead us. ” I semi-ordered the guards.
The more polite one nodded with a hint of a smile before walking off with his comard. Kon and I walked with them. “So uh, why do the Princesses want to see us?” Kon asked them.
“We weren’t told.” The ruder one said shortly, getting a nod from the other.
“Most likely because we are strange beings to them. ” I commented.
“Oh ok.” Kon accepted my reasoning and placed her hands behind her head. “Makes sense now that I think about it.” She let her eye wonder a bit while keeping track of the rest of us.
We walked for a couple of minutes, before finally getting to what looked like a large throne room. Kon was distracted by the decor.
“Ah hello, you two must be the guests I’ve heard of?” A gentle and motherly voice filled the room.
I looked at the source of the voice and my eyes met a large anthro pony with a horn and wings. She had a regal looked white dress on, and golden jewelry on her, the last bit of it being a golden tiara on her head. “Pretty…” I heard Kon whisper to herself as she gazed at her.
The larger pony smiled at Kon. “Why thank you.”
“Oh uh, you heard me?” She nodded at Kon.
“That’s why you keep things you don’t want heard to your mind. ” I commented with a chuckle, making Kon huff at me a little adorably.
The white pony giggled a little. “He is right though.” She stood up from her throne. “Now, who might you two be?”
“I am Herobrine, Lord of the Nether and Mobs .” I said, walking forward and bowing a little in respect.
“Wait since when-” Kon caught herself before also bowing. “I-i mean, I’m Kon your highness.”
“Well, it’s a pleasure to meet both of you.” The pony said. “I am Princess Celestia, ruler and co ruler of Equestria.”
“It is nice to meet you as well. ” I said, smiling. “Now, as to why we are here… we seem to have accidentally teleported into nearby, and have no current way to go home. ” I added, it being mostly the truth. Kon nodded, backing me up a little.
“I see, that is unfortunate.” Celestia said with pity. “Is there a way I could help?”
“There is. ” I said smiling. “If you can acquire fourteen meter tall blocks of obsidian, I can make a portal back to where I rule. ” I told her.
“Obsidian? A… unusual material to be used.” Celestia said, but she nodded. “It will take some time before they arrive, but you are welcomed to stay here in the meantime.”
“Ah, thank you Princess!” Kon said, bowing once more.
“Thank you .” I said in agreement, nodding and smiling.
“I will notify my stewart when I can.” Celestia said before walking to us. “In the meantime, how about we get some breakfast?”
“That sounds wonderful, Princess. ” I said, smiling.
“Yeah.” Kon agreed right before her stomach rumbled.
Celestia chuckled at Kon’s embarrassment. “Follow me you two.” She said before walking off with the two guards. I smiled, getting out of my seat and deciding to put Kon on my shoulders, before following her. Kon giggled in surprise and amusement, her enthusiasm making her tail twitch once.
“It’s right in here.” Celestia said after five minutes of walking. She stood at the door, of which the guards opened it revealing a large rectangular table, already with some silverware and plates at the ready.
“What’s for breakfast? ” I asked as I walked inside, setting Kon into a seat before getting in one next to her.
“Whatever you prefer.” The Princess said as a chef came over. “The usual please.”
I didn’t really feel hungry, so I simply shrugged, looking at Kon and gesturing for her to order something.
“Um, just some Eggs and pancakes please.” The fox girl said and the chef nodded before walking away into the kitchen.
I sat with Kon in the library, relaxing on a couch there, watching her in bemusement. Earlier she had tried to entertain herself with a book, but Kon had soon put it away. “Ah, how long are we going to have to wait there’s so little to do.” Kon complained.
“A couple weeks I believe. ” I told her calmly.
She groaned in frustration and spun on the rotating chair. “Is there anything we can do to pass the time?” Kon loudly sighed.
“What’s with all this complaining?” An elderly voice guffed. From around a bookshelf a wizardly looking old pony came out. “I’m trying to do… research?” He paused half way when he saw us.
“Hey.” Kon said boredly with an equally bored wave.
“Now who might you two be? And what?” The old pony questioned getting closer.
Kon pointed to herself. “I’m Kon.” Then she point to me. “And that’s Herobrine.”
I simply waved, idly wondering how this would go. The old man circled around Kon for a second, looking at her curiously. “I am the Royal Wizard of this castle, Starswirl the Bearded.” He then moved to me and examined visually. “What brings you two here?”
“Celestia is getting materials for me to get back to my land. ” I informed him.
“We were brought here by a spell of some sort.” Kon added to it. “But it’s going to take a few weeks, and we have nothing to do…” She whined a little with a pout.
“That does seem unfortunate.” StarSwirl said with a amused smile.
Kon then perked up from an idea. “Hey, you’re a wizard right?” She asked him and getting a nod. “Can you teach me some magic?”
Starswirl cocked his head. “You wish to be my apprentice?”
Kon nodded. “Just temporarily, it’ll give me something to do.”
“How much of magic do you understand?” He questioned her.
She shrugged. “Not a whole lot, other than it’s not a toy and can be very dangerous.”
He nodded in acknowledgment. “That is a good thing to know. But.” He paused for a moment. “I’m afraid I’ve already have a student.”
“Aw come on, you can handle other can’t you?” Kon insisted. “I don’t really care what you teach me.”
Starswirl seemed to be considering it. “What are you’re kind capable of?”
Kon cupped her chin. “Well… Controlling Fox Fire and Levitation is something we can do.” She said. “I’m also able to make myself completely invisible and I know we’re magically adept.” Starswirl nodded. “That’s really all I know though.”
“It is worth considering…” StarSwirl mumbled and rubbed his chin. “Your potential could be worthwhile.” Then he stopped rubbing it. “I suppose it would not hurt to show you a couple things.”
Kon jumped out of her chair. “Really?!”
“But!” He said firmly. “You must obey what I say and to not do anything magical without my permission if you had not done it before or mastered it. Furthermore, do not bother my apprentice unless she says otherwise, but I will have a limit on that as well.”
Kon stood up straight with a smile. “I understand sir.” Then she bowed. “And thank you, I’ll try not to disappoint.”
Starswirl nodded in approvement. “Perhaps now can be a good start, I need some books from here for my research.”
“I understand, I’ll find it.” Kon said with a smile before turning to me. “You going to be ok by yourself?”
I chuckled, gesturing for her to go off and learn magic. “Ok, I’ll see you later!” The fox girl said before walking off with StarSwirl.
“Now then, I need you to find a volume of…” StarSwirl’s voice faded away as they moved farther away, giving her the start of his instructions.
Kon’s POV
“Volume 3 of magical theory, volume three, volume three…” I mumbled, looking through a bookshelf and standing on a ladder. Even with it, my shortness had me standing on one foot and on my tippy toes.
It took a few seconds but I managed to find it several feet to my right. And like a “smart” person, I tried reaching over to it. My fingers were just barely brushing the cover. Getting just a little determined, I repositioned my foot and it was enough to grab it. “Got it.” But of course, it wasn’t enough to keep my balance and I yelped as I came crashing down.
Like many in anime, I let out an “Eteteeee” noise while rubbing my head and then sitting up. Somehow, I managed to hold onto the book. You know, I’m starting to think these changes aren't just physical.
Anywho, now that I was standing up I should go and find StarSwirl. It wasn’t hard to find him with the tower of books that he was levitating. “Sensei, I found the book.” I told him, looking at the pile of books which grew by one more as he levitated the thick heavy book on top of it.
“Sensei?” My teacher said.
I rubbed the back of my head. “Eh, sorry can’t help it. Means Teacher.” I’m not even being used right, he isn’t a martial artist. “Do you… really need that much?”
He looked up at the tower. “Yes, and not to worry. I can keep it stable.” He proved it by making it twirl around slowing and it kept it shape.
I however freaked a little, my tail and ears standing up straight. “Ok ok!” I exclaimed a little.
The old man chuckled a little at me. “Come along on.” He then said and I trailed behind him with a small pout. We then walked down the glamorous halls. I let my eyes wander a little, making sure I can follow my new Sensei.
The walk was taking longer than I thought, so I opened mouth. “So, what kind of magic will we be learning?”
“The basics, then perhaps get into levitation.” Sensei briefly stated. I leaned backwards a little putting my hands on the back of my head.
So it was about another ten, twenty minutes before we finally stopped at a door. “And here we are, my tower and study.” StarSwirl said. We walked in, me admiring all wizardly stuff he had around. Books, alchemy stuff, the usual. “CLOVER! ARE YOU HERE!?” I jumped at StarSwirl’s surprisingly powerful yell.
“I’m coming, keep your pants on!” A voice shouted from somewhere.
“Well hurry, we have a guest!” StarSwirl replied with a smile. Then using his magic he grabbed several things, some books, quills and parchments and the like, and set them down on the table behind him. Then he pulled up two chairs. “Sit down Kon if you will.” I did as he said and said down on the slightly rickety chair.
We then heard stomping as Clover came down the stairs, her being revealed as she turned the corner. The mare was also a Unicorn, slightly shorter than StarSwirl, with a grey coat with a short and wavy mane and tail into two different shades of green and blue eyes. Clover, I assume, was wearing a pale green cloak. On the back of said cloak was three clovers ending in sharp point going down diagonally, with three little sparkles at the edges.
“Okay, I’m here… who’s this?” Clover asked, looking at me.
“This is Kon.” StarSwirl said, getting a chalk board.
I waved to her a little. “Uh hi.”
“She’ll be my apprentice alongside you temporarily and temporary study partner if you wish.” The wizard said clearing his throat of something. “Kon, this is Clover my most esteemed student yet.”
Clover smirked cockily at the praise. “It’s uh, nice to meet you Clover.” I said to her with a smile.
“Nice to meet ya, brat.” Clover said.
I blinked before my face fell into on of annoyance. “Excuse me?” I said with my ears flatten to the sides.
“You heard me.” Clover said with a shrug.
I just deadpanned at her before looking back at StarSwirl. “Ignoring that.” I stated simply.
StarSwirl cleared his throat again. “Well, since you’ll start with the basics, I’ll be studying upstairs.” Clover told StarSwirl, turning and moving back to the stairs.
“Charming…” I said with some sarcasm and supported my chin with my hand.
He just shook his head before turning to the chalkboard and getting a bit of chalk. “ Now then, let's begin…” He stated, starting to write on the board.
After a long lesson.
Huh, I don’t get why so many complained about the basics. I mean, sure it's not the most interesting, but still. I closed a notebook StarSwirl gave for me to keep, and bunched some flash cards together neatly. “That wasn’t so bad.” I thought out loud.
StarSwirl smiled at me. “That is a good sign. Most are just bored of the basics and it’s good you don’t seem to think so.” He started, thinking back to parts when he observed me during the lesson taking a many notes as I can and asking questions. Lots of questions. ‘This one might rival Clover as a student. Magic, that remains to be seen…
He thought to himself. “Now then, I want you to study up as much as you can before our next lesson.”
“Yes Sensei, I’ll study hard.” I replied, getting a book on the basics in case I missed anything.
“Now remember what I told you.” Sensei started.
“Don’t use any magic till you say so.” I finished, getting a firm nod before he headed upstairs. I waved to him before leaving the tower and back towards the room Celestia lent me and HeroBrine. Apparently, not many rooms are available at the moment due to various problems. But it didn’t matter much, I trust HeroBrine enough. Besides, I got my Wakizashi back.
I opened the door, only to find no one. “Huh, he's not here.” I mumbled the obvious, before going over the a desk and placing my things for study on it. Feeling not quite up to it just yet, I set to look for Hero. Mostly because I was curious if he found anything to do.
I didn’t find him anywhere inside the main castle, so I started looking in training grounds around it. He had somehow acquired what looked like an iron pickaxe, and his eyes glowed a little as he spun it, before gripping it tightly.
My eyes widened as lightning danced around his arm, before he pointed the pickaxe forward, multiple bolts shooting forwards and decimating the dummies in the training ground.
“Woah.” I said simply and slightly jealous. “How’d you learn to that so quickly?”
Herobrine seemed to jump a little, surprised, before turning to me. “Oh, hey.” He said, chuckling. “Didn’t notice you.”
“Scared you huh?” I said teasingly before pointing at the Pick. “But in all seriousness, where did you get that and how are you good at fighting already?” I snapped my fingers. “Oh and the lighting.”
“I was surprised, I just… summoned it, and I don’t know.” He answered in order.
I couldn’t help but pout childishly. “No fair, I have to study magic…” I grumbled. Then I unsheathed my sword and held it in a reversed grip. “And I have to learn how to use this.”
“I’m HEROBRINE, I’m not meant to be fair.” He said, chuckling.
I just continued to pout at him and sheathed my Wakizashi. “Any chance you could teach me some, or is it all instinct?”
“It’s kinda… fifty fifty?” He said, shrugging.
I crossed my arms. “So, no dice?” My tail flitched.
“Well, I get the weapon, then it’s instinct, and becomes actual knowledge.” He explained. “That’s why I said fifty fifty.”
I blinked. “So, is that a yes or no?”
“I SHOULD be able to.” He said.
My eye’s widen happily. “Can we start now?” I asked him, once again unsheathing my Wakizashi in a reverse grip.
“Alright.” Herobrine said, seeming to focus for a moment, before his pickaxe was replaced by a sword like mine. “Just follow my lead.”
I nodded, after staring at his stunt for a few seconds before shaking my head. “Right.”
He started to show me how to use the sword, going slow so I could copy him. I was getting it fairly well, the basic forms to better use the weapon both offensively and defensively, though I stumbled a little at stances when my Sword wasn’t in a reverse grip. But eventually, I got those down but still prefered the way I held it.
“That good for now?” Herobrine asked me suddenly. “You seem tired.”
And I was. “Yeah, it’ll do.” I wasn’t panting or awfully out of breath, but HeroBrine had pointed out turning some dodging, parrying and light strikes that I put too much effort in them. “Thanks for the lesson Sensei.” And there I go again with the sensei thing.
He chuckled, switching the sword for a pick. “Actually, how about we spar?” He suggested.
“Hm?” I hummed a little in confusion, before nodding. “Okay.” I then got into a stance that was well rounded for offense, defence and evasive, but not proficient in any of them.
Herobrine seemed to just… stand there for a minute, before he was suddenly in front of me, pick raised high. Of course I was surprised, but I tried to slide behind him.
He quickly stuck his leg out right as I was about to, already swinging the pick to meet me. I did a parry, trying to move the force away to the side. However, knowing his speed, I wouldn’t have time to pull it back for a slash so I again tried to get behind from the same direction after fainting to the right. Then I went for a quick stab.
Herobrine seemed to almost panic for a second, before he was suddenly gone in a flash of purple particles, appearing behind me and kicking me forward.
Me being so lightweight was sent flying a couple feet, and thanks to my fox half I was able to land on my feet, albit rubbing my hip for a second. “Huh… new.” Herobrine muttered, twirling his pick.
“You have no idea just how jealous I am of you.” I said good naturedly, getting back into a stance.
“Use it as fuel to attack me.” He said with a grin, teleporting again. I was ever so glad for my ears as I managed to twirl out of the way of an arrow, cutting a few strand of hair. Knowing, and hating, that he could teleport, I stranded my sensitive hearing while watching for anything that he could hide behind.
He suddenly appeared a bit in front of me, another arrow notched, and a grin on his face, before he let it fly. I had to duck with an embarrassing squeak, again now missing some strands of hairs before I swiped my leg under his.
He posed in mid air before teleporting behind me, sweeping my feet from under me. I yelped again, getting frustrating, then bracing for impact and for a rough thud. I didn’t feel anything, no thump and me getting the air punched out my chest. Nothing.
“That’s neat.” Herobrine said, grabbing my sides and setting me up straight… a foot off the ground.
I blinked my wide eyes, before the levitation suddenly cut off. Thankfully, I landed on my feet. “Well… that’s a good sign. Right?” Then I remembered the spar and jumped back.
“Spars over, I think we’ve done enough today.” Herobrine said with a chuckle.
I relaxed immediately. “Yeah… that's a… good idea.” I panted a little, fiddling a little with the sheath, trying to put my sword away. Then in exaggerated exhaustion I fell on my bottom, ears and tail limp.
Herobrine chuckled, walking over to me and putting my sword away for me, before he picked me up and put me on his shoulders, turning and starting to walk to our room.
I wave to a couple of guards who had watched our spar, still out of breath from said combat. “Jeez…” I sighed, feeling a little cheated.
“You alright?” Herobrine asked softly a we walked through the halls.
I crossed my arms. “Yeah, just feeling a little… I don’t think inferior is the right word?” I put a finger to chin. “I… guess just a little cheated? I mean you’re already a master and you barely had to do anything.”
“Well, some displaced just plain start out stronger than others.” Herobrine started, humming a little. “Hey, think you could try teaching me a little magic?”
“When StarSwirl teaches me some, I’ve only got the basics down.” I replied. “No real magic yet.” Then I blinked, my brain processing. “Wait, displaced?”
“Well, I read some stories, while human.” Herobrine started. “And so, I figured to… test them, by becoming one of them. Displaced are a person or a group of people that are displaced from our reality to another, usually as whatever they're wearing.”
I scratched a itch by my ear. “And this happens, why?”
“For amusement, mostly.” He said with a little shrug.
“And I’m guessing that merchant chap is the displacer?” I guessed, flicking my tailing in irritation.
“Exactly.” Herobrine said.
I sighed. “And do people even get back home?”
“I’ve read of one of two that get home, or at least, to a universe that’s close enough.” Herobrine told me as we got to our room.
My ear flattened to the sides. “So our chances are slim?”
“Well, only that one has really tried that hard.” Herobrine said.
I tilted my head to the side. “And who was that?” I had to ask.
”You know, I don’t really remember… it’s been a long time since I checked.” Herobrine said as we went into the room, him setting me down on the bed.
I sighed, taking off my shoes and rubbing my feet. “Thanks for the lift Hero.”
“You’re welcome.” He said, taking his shoes off and climbing into the bed.
Then I stood back up. “Still got to study for a bit.” I said shortly before sitting in front of the desk and opening the book and my notes.
“Have fun with that.” Herobrine called, before falling asleep. I chuckled at him, before returning my focus to my studying for the next two hours.
“Wake up, Kon.” I said, shaking her a little bit. She had fallen asleep on her book, which while adorable, probably wasn’t good for the book itself. She grumbled irritably and for a moment tried to snuggle deeping into the book. But the book being a book made it uncomfortable enough to wake her up. Adorably, she almost stretched like a fox would.
“Morning. ” I said to her, smiling.
“Morning…” Kon grumbled, rubbing her head.
“Are you alright? ” I asked, rubbing her back.
She nodded with a groan. “Yeah, I’ll be fine. Just a headache…” Kon continued to rub her head.
“Maybe don’t sleep on books then? ” I suggested with a smirk.
Kon blinked before smiling a little. “Yeah…” She mumbled before getting up from the chair and closing the book and notebook.
“Let’s go, breakfast should be ready soon. ” I said, picking her up and putting her in the piggyback position.
She mumbled an okay. “Hope they have some coffee…”
I chuckled, carrying her into the dining hall, before setting her down in a chair and taking a seat next to her.
The chef came over as before. “What’ll it be?” He said shortly.
“Same as last time, with coffee. ” I told him. Kon nodded, wanting the same. The chief nodded before heading back to the kitchen. After a few more minutes, he and another pony came out with our food and a cup of coffee for Kon, and placed them down in front of us. Kon thanked them before taking a small sip of her coffee.
“I wonder if Celestia knows how much longer until we get that Obsidian. ” I commented.
Kon shrugged. “ Didn’t she say in a few weeks?”
“You never know. ” I said simply with a shrug, starting to eat my share of the food simply because I can. While we were eating, some guard ponies ran by the food hall one of them screaming…
“Its free!!”
I immediately got up, pulling my pickaxe from my inventory. I ran outside of the hall, grabbing a guard. “What’s goin on?” ” I questioned the guard.
“A-an ally of the evil king discord was turned to stone when the princesses defeated him but he has escaped.” The guard said a little afraid.
“Hero, wait up!” Kon yelled as she was starting to catch up with me.
I waited a second, before grabbing her hand and running against the fleeing guards. “Looks like we’re putting that training to use earlier than we thought! ” I said to her as I ran. Kon blinked for a few moments before nodding and using her other hand to grip her still sheathed Wakizashi. We followed the guards to an abandoned building near the edge of the castle grounds, a tall human looking person with a black scythe that gave off a blackish cloud off the tip was standing ready and looked worse for wear.
I let go of my companion's hand, getting myself into a ready stance as I remained silent, looking at the stranger. Kon also took a stance, unsheathing her sword and holding it in the reverse grip.
“Leave me alone!” The stranger yelled, swinging his scythe the black cloud speeding towards us and the guards before dissipating before it hit us, the stranger falling on one knee panting heavily.
I raised an eyebrow in confusion, slowly relaxing. “Something isn’t right here. ” I said, walking forward.
“What do you mean?” Kon whispered to me, still tense.
I said nothing, instead choosing to get closer to the stranger more. He was breathing heavily, his arm and one leg bleeding slightly, he had what looked like a curse mark in his left pure white eye, he was wearing matching black clothes with blue stripes and had black anime style hair. He gripped his scythe more when I approached, preparing to attack me again. “What are you doing?” Kon hissed looking ready to dash forward.
“You were Displaced, weren’t you? ” I questioned the stranger calmly, seeming to ignore Kon for the moment.
The stranger looked surprised at me, a little hope in his eyes. “Yes….I was displaced as my teen titans OC.”
“I was displaced as Herobrine rather recently… you appeared in the wrong place at the wrong time, didn’t you? ” I questioned.
“No, that ass hole discord lied to me. He told me he could send me home and he said he'd only do it if I helped him” He said shaking a little.
I frowned, snarling a little. I decided I’d deal with him later, holding my hand out to the stranger. “I’m actually working on a way home myself… why don’t you join me? ” I asked. He held his scythe at the ready, glaring at me slightly.
“You're with the guards, which means your's with Celestia and Luna. I will never trust them because of what they did to me.” He said, making Kon tense some more.
“That is the kind of stupid logic that the ponies use to attack without truly thinking. ” I hissed quietly to him, narrowing my eyes.
“No, they knew Discord was blackmailing me, and they still turned me to stone…. Luna looked sorry, but Celesta said that I couldn't be trusted.” He said coughing up some blood.
“You’re in no condition to fight. ” I commented, backing up some.
“Celestia will attack me the minute she sees me.” He said using his scythe to stand up.
“I would say let me try talking to her, but you seem set on what you’re doing. ” I said, getting ready.
He held his weapon above his head before it vanished into smoke as he collapsed on the ground, blood all over his back. I sighed, putting my pick away. Kon then relaxed a bit and put away her weapon as well.
“GUARDS, GET A STRETCHER! ” I shouted. The guards brought a stretcher and took him to the medical wing while we went to see Celestia.
“So, why are we going to see Celestia?” Kon asked me as we were walking down the hall.
“To find out what it is he actually did. ” I told her. We walked for another minute before we got to the throne room’s double doored entrance.
I pushed the door open, walking straight towards Celestia. “Ah, hello HeroBrine.” She said, turning to face me. “How can I help you?”
“I want to know about the one that helped Discord, what did he do? ” I asked her.
Celestia frowned when I said that. “And what brought this up?”
“He is free and gravely wounded. ” I told her, frowning.
Her expression fell a little at his condition but remained sternish. “He attacked both me and my sister under orders from Discord.” She stated simply. “Injuring, sometimes almost fatally so, to plenty of our guards.”
“I am willing to bet he was new to his powers then and didn’t know how to put them in a ‘non lethal’ mode. ” I brought up, crossing my arms.
“Sir you need to rest!” A guard said, as the stranger walked in the room.
“Celestia!” He said limping. “I told you why I was fighting for discord and you still turned me to stone! I wanna know why!!”
She remained stoic. “You were too dangerous.”
“That's bull shit! I never harmed any of your guards I only knocked them out!” He yelled, shaking. “You also stole my spellbook, I want it back!”
“Then explain the serious lacerations.” She demanded.
“It's not my fault your guards are weak as hell, and you know I'm not the only one Discord tricked.” He said glaring.
“ENOUGH! You two will stop bickering like children immediately.
“Fuck off.” He snapped. “I'm tired of getting blamed for shit I didn't do.”
“Being confrontational about it isn’t helping your case, calm down. ” I said, irritation in my voice. The ‘conversation’ was making Kon back away nervously.
“I dont give a damn about this, I just want my spell book so I can find my girlfriend!” He yelled at Celestia. “Give it back…. Please.” He said claiming down a little.
Celestia sighed and levitated a black book with a image of trigon from teen titans on it from somewhere down the hall. “I do not think you'll be able to find your marefriend.”
“Why not?” He asked taking the book.
“She tried to free you before, we had to… dispose of her.” She said.
“Celestia… what exactly do you mean? ” I asked, turning to her.
“It is none of your concern.” She said blinking, showing no emotion.
“Yeaaaah, with the way you worded that?” Kon stated, getting a little more nervous. “You might want to elaborate.”
“She is gone… good luck finding her.” Celestia said walking to a door.
“If I find her dead… I will kill you.” The stranger said, making her stop for a second before continuing.
I frowned, teleporting in Celestias way. “You’re starting to sound like the villian of this story, Celestia. ” I said with a frown, arms still crossed.
“Story?” She said confused.
”Of what happened between you two.” I clarified.
Celestia looked down. “Yes I suppose I am, I was focusing on what my subjects needed, and I punished someone who was forced to fight us… I then banished his marefriend for trying to aid him… I am the villain.” She said
“You could attempt to make things right… starting with bringing his girlfriend back. ” I said.
“I do not know where she is, I banished her from equestria…” she said sighing. “I wish him the best of luck in finding her.” She said walking around me and to her room.
“From Equestria? ” I questioned to myself, thinking. “I have an idea of where she may be. ” I stated.
“Where?” The stranger asked excitedly.
“There should be a human world, linked to this one. If I can make a portal to the realm I rule, I should be able to then make a portal there. ” I told him.
“Wait, wait!” Kon intrrubted. “Do you mean you knew of a different way home this whole time?!”
“I’m sorry, but no, I highly doubt that our home is linked to this world or any dimension close enough to work. ” I told her, frowning sadly.
She wilted from the information, ears flattening and tail drooping to the ground a little. “So, we’re suck here?” Kon mumbled.
“Don’t worry, I’ll get us home eventually… I just need time. ” I assured her, placing a hand on her shoulder and smiling at her. This successfully cheered her up and Kon smiled back at him.
I smiled, before turning to where Celestia went, and sighing. “I guess I’ll ask how’s that Obsidian coming later. ” I said.
“Like the gem?” The stranger asked. “My names shade By the way.”
“I’m Kon, and I don’t know.” She shrugged. Right before she suddenly yelped. “Crap, I forgot about StarSwirl’s lessons!” Kon freaked momentarily while her hands shooting up to her head. “I gotta go, or I’m going to be late!” The Fox Girl yelled before dashing out the room, before activating her levitation and flying off.
I chuckled bemusedly, shaking my head. I started to walk out of the room, deciding to explore.
“What about my girlfriend!?” Shade yelled.
“We’ll get to her as soon as I get fourteen obsidian. ” I replied.
“How many do you have!?” He yelled again following me.
“None. ” I told him.
“So I'm stuck waiting until you get some…” Shade said sadly.
“Celestia ordered me some, I have a feeling we’ll be getting Obsidian soon. ” I told him.
“That's good… And who’s Starswirl?” He asked.
“A magician. ” I informed him.
“Could we go see?” He asked. I shrugged, before leading him to Starswirl’s tower. When we entered the tower, we see Kon sitting at a desk as the old pony wrote something down on the chalkboard. He turned to her and gave a short lecture, Kon nodding and writing stuff down.
The older pony turned to us in surprise. “Oh, I expecting visitors.” He gruffed. “I’m in the middle of lecture good sirs, I’m afraid I don't have time to treat any worries.”
“I was just interested in seeing a magician, the last time I used my magic was disastrous.” Shade said, the older pony seeming to recognize him and not in a good way.
As hinted by his horn lighting. “You!” He yelled surprisingly powerfully. “Kon, stand back!” He ordered, drowning out the girl’s protest.
“Crap.” Shade sighed rubbing his temple. “And this is why I'm pissed at Celestia, she ruins my good name.” He mumbled, only I being able to hear him.
“Kon, I said stand back!” StarSwirl yelled again.
“But, he’s not a bad guy!” She protested, getting a diminishing glare from her Sensei. The glare made her squeak before backing off, scared as hinted by the floofing of her tail.
“Calm down, Starswirl. ” I said, standing in front of Shade.
“Calm- Calm down?!” StarSwirl questioned loudly. “Calm down with him here?!”
“Yes. ” I replied.
StarSwirl growled. “And why should I?” StarSwirl said, his horn glowing brighter.
“Well one.” Shade said. “I was framed by Celestia, and two I doubt you'd want to ‘kill’ me in the presence of a child.”
Kon looked ready to retort before StarSwirl cut her off. “ Framed you say?” He said doubtful. “ Doesn’t sound like her at all.” His horn glowed even brighter and then his hands started glowing too.
“She wrongly accused me of willingly working with Discord when he blackmailed me with the notion of returning to my world!” Shade said, his book and curse mark glowing out of anger. “She turned me to stone when all I wanted was to return to my family! And then she banished my girlfriend when she tried to help me! This world isn't made for her, she could be dead!” He said tearing up.
StarSwirl was taken aback from the rant before he hardened his gaze and walked up to Shade. And then he gazed steely into his eyes, before his horn and hands stopped glowing as he turned away. “Alright, I believe you.”
“Just like that?” Shade said confused.
StarSwirl chuckled. “You’d be surprised at what an Elder can pick up from one’s eyes. You can’t fake that kind of pain behind your eyes.”
“You were Celestia’s teacher right?” Shade asked. “Have you ever heard of Astel?”
He fidgeted subtly. “Vaguely.”
“I thought so.” Shade said, glancing down the hall to a painting/tapestry. I raised an eyebrow, slightly interested, but not enough to ask a question. “Also when you have time, I was wondering if you could give me some pointers about magic. Not an apprenticeship but just pointers now and again.”
StarSwirl thought about before nodding. “Some pointers wouldn't hurt I suppose. But please, do as I say when I deem it necessary.”
“Yeah ok.” Shade shrugged. “Warning though, my magic works only with incantations.”
He nodded before walking back to his chalk board. “Now, if you excuse me?” StarSwirl gestured to Kon to have her sit back down. “I have a lesson to complete.”
I nodded silently, walking off to the side, but not leaving, instead choosing to lean against the wall and observe. “Now then Kon, pay close attention!” StarSwirl instructed as she picked up her notebook and quill again.
Shade just sat on the wall, opening his book and taking out a pen from his pocket. He wrote down what Star Swirl said as well, and from what I could see was mixing it with incantations.
I simply observed everything, taking mental notes. Soon after, the lesson was over and Kon started gathering her things. “I hope to see you tomorrow again Kon, be sure to study. By the fourth day, I will have an essay for you.” StarSwirl said before heading upstairs.
Kon stretched as she got out of her seat. “Right, let's go get some dinner.”
I nodded, before smirking and picking her up, putting her in the usual position on my back, making her giggle again. I smirked, carrying her back towards the dining hall. “So, what did you think of today?” She asked me and Shade.
I simply shrugged, not really having an opinion quite yet.
“I'm glad I was freed...and I made some new friends.” Shade smiled.
“Well, today was… eventful. ” I commented.
“Agreed!” Kon said cheerfully as we entered the dining room.
“Greeting Hero, Kon….Shade…” Celestia said looking a little ashamed when she saw Shade.
I simply waved, setting Kon down in her usual seat and taking my own. Shade sat a little away from us, not looking at Celestia. “How’s the Obsidian coming, Celestia? ” I asked.
“It shall be here in three days.” Celestia said as the chef came in.
Kon raised a hand to him. “Can I have some Stir Fry? Anything, just not too spicey.” I waved the chef off, not feeling like eating right now.
“Do you have any meat?” Shade asked the chef who gave him the stink eye. While the chef was not happy about serving him, the nod from Celestia made him give in and nodded as his answer. “I'll have a steak then...cooked.” He said seeming to be able to read the chefs thoughts by looking at his face. The chef looked disappointed unsurprised before he nodded and wrote down his order before getting Celestia’s and walking out.
“What was that?” Celestia asked.
“He planned on serving me raw meat.” Sade said grumbling.
Celestia’s ears fell, and she simply looked at the table in shame. The chief later came back with some others and then laid their food in front of them.
Shade took a bite if his food, chewing a little before swallowing. “Not completely cooked but edible.” The chef only nodded acknowledged meant and insincere apology before leaving back into the kitchen.
“So uh...How are you all enjoying your time in equestria?” Celestia asked.
Kon stopped mid bite. “Not bad. I’m especially glad that I get to learn some magic.” She replied then taking the bite.
“How do you think? “ Shade said grumbling eating his steak.
“I think you two need to stop talking with your mouths full. ” I commented, chuckling.
“Eh” Shade chuckled. Kon however blushed in embarrassment and rubbed the back of her head. Shade chuckled, looking away, avoiding eye contact with Kon. The Fox girl, innocent as she is, mostly, didn’t think of anything of it and just continued to eat, wiggling her tail.
“So, Kon what did you learn with Starswirl?” Celestia asked.
Kon first finished her food before answering this time. “Not too much, we’ve only just finished the basics today. He’s going to start with the barebones of intermittent stuff before teaching me a spell.”
“I see, and Shade do you have any more control over your spells?” Celestia asked.
“Sorta…..” He mumbled, also not looking at Celestia.
“Are… you… alright?” Celestia asked, Shade didn't answer and just looked away again. Only for his ears to pick up the sound of Kon burping adorably. Shade looked at her and snickered, laughing.
“That was adorable!” He laughed. I started chuckling, trying and failing to fight back a grin. The laughing and the comment just made her blush again, hiding her face a little while stifling some giggles.
Celestia smiled and stood up. “I am retiring to my quarters goodnight everypony.”
Kon waved, still with a red face. “G-goodnight.”
“We should probably start heading to bed as well. ” I comment, standing.
“Good idea….but where do I sleep?” Shade asked after Celestia had already left.
“I believe a room down the hall from ours was vacated recently. ” I said, humming a little as I picked Kon up again.
“Ok, lead the way.” Shade said, smirking at Kon’s blush. I smirked a little, carrying her towards our room. I could Hear shade following us, before we stopped at my anand Kons room. “So where's the room?” He asked.
Kon pointed to a door. “Over there.” She said, having gotten rid of her blush a while ago.
“Night then, and I hope y'all are quite.” Shade said laughing as he entered the room Kon pointed to, the girl only tilting her head to the side in innocent confusion.
“Ignore him. ” I said simply, carrying her into our room and setting her down and she took off her shoes as always before laying down comfortably.
I kicked my own off, getting in with her.
