Night realm : once in a life time
The beginning

There are many things that lurk in the night; creatures of old lay and wait. Waiting for mortals to slip up and enter that abyss which has no way out. I was that mortal this time, I was dreaming at that time when I disappeared into the Night Realm.
But it was nothing like I had expected; I saw ponies of different shapes and sizes. Some had feathered wings; others with horns like Unicorns and some without. I wondered whether I was still dreaming or I was really in the world of MLP. I also noticed that they were all dressed for a party or a masquerade.
I saw the crowd heading up to a castle that seemed very familiar, like something I had seen on the Internet. With its high, dark walls, the towers seemed to reclaim the night skies as I walked up the road. We all walked across the stone bridge. We passed under an archway. And beyond that was the gate that was open to the public, and high above on the biggest balcony I had ever seen in my life.
And high above, I saw that a tall and dark stallion's clothing seemed all-too-familiar. But it couldn’t be who I thought it was. There was no way it could be Lord Dracula,
but I avoided making eye contact so he wouldn’t notice me as I went inside.
Meanwhile, Dracula watched the crowd walk into his castle. He saw so many of the same faces. He had hoped this ball would help keep up the mural of his people and keep them in check. But, he sighed; he was still looking for a Queen to stand by his side, but the suitors he had in the past were either too full of themselves or all-too-willing please him like his slaves.
He wanted something more out of the mares; something he longed for since he became the King of the Vampires: love and understanding. But, he was feared by many and hated by all who weren’t part of his Night Realm. He sighed before heading in to greet his guests.
He stood at the top of the stairs that lead from the lobby. It was gothic in design, as most of the castle was. He greeted each guest as they walked up the stairs. He watched each guest pass him as he welcomed them. It had been a few centuries since Van Helsing had slain him while he was a werewolf. It was even longer since he arrived here and rebuilt his race.
As the last of his guests were heading into the ballroom when this Unicorn mare--whom coat was a bluish-black and a silver mane like the star themselves, and her eyes like an ocean on summer's day--captivated Dracula so he couldn’t look away; he had to say something as she approached him.
“Welcome milady, please enjoy the party here at my home,” he said, trying his best to charm the lovely mare before him.
“Indeed I shall, and maybe I’ll see you later perhaps?” I flittered back just so I could get things moving along. And, to be honest, he was attractive, I also wanted the company.
I saw the grin that told me he was planning on doing just that after the party started to get into the full swing. After I made my way in, I went to the reserves table to grab a plate with a few snacks and a glass of red wine before finding a quiet corner to get some peace.
For an introvert like me, I found this party overwhelming.
It was wonderful, considering setting it was set in. It was a masquerade ball, which I’ve always wanted to attend, but never got the chance when I was human back on Earth. As I made my way through the crowd, it was hard to focus on the different conversations that were going on around me.
Some were about politics, which I ignored, not wanting to have to worry or deal with them. I soon found a place that was more secluded and quiet: the balcony.
After I closed the door behind me, I took my human form so It would be easier to eat, but little did I know, my host had caught wind of a scent he hadn’t sensed in the last few millennia.
“A human... here?“
He looked around the crowd after joining the party, he made his way through the crowded ballroom, until he came to the door that had been closed to the balcony outside and the scent was strongest out there.
I was blissfully unaware that I had been found out, as I was finishing off the last of my food and wine. Even though I was a few months from the legal drinking age, I figured since I was in the lion’s den, so to speak. I might have needed at least one drink before heading back in.
The door slowly began to open. He was able to peek out and saw a tall blond in the same dress as the black Unicorn mare that had come to his party. He pondered how to approach this woman, who was unaware that he had found her out.
'Hmmm, slender form…but what does she truly look like?' he pondered as he took his original form. It had been years since he had been in his human form.
I sighed, I truly felt very alone now that I had been sent away from everything that I knew and loved. I shutter as I held back tears knowing I was now going to be forever alone. An who was this stallion that I was supposedly going to meet and would recognize when I saw him. I took a deep breath before I sang to the moon hoping it would hear me.
“Forever
Alone with the moon,
Through the night
Why do I try?
Who would care?
If I should fade,
I'm just a wish
That nobody made.
Forever
Alone in the sky;
Through the night,
Why do I try?”
