Nothing is True, Everything is Permitted

This wasn't the life that Sunset desired. In fact sometimes she honestly despised it and it made her sick but, while she hated to admit it, she was good at it and it did pay her bills. Sunset shook her head as the hidden blade retracted back into its holster on her left wrist, blood dripping down off the tip of the blade while she looked at the lifeless body at her feet. She stared for a couple more seconds before dragging a feather acorss the corspes slit throat,the feather now covered in blood.Sunset turned around and pressed into the ear piece,speaking.

"Target down,"

"Good job, Osiris. Come back to HQ." The voice responded. Sunset took her finger off the ear piece and sighed before taking one last look at the body. She breathed in and ran forward across the long plank of wood attacted to the top of the tower, taking both feet off it when right at the edge and spreading her arms outwards like an eagle in flight. This was one of the parts she actually liked about this job. When she was falling from such a height she felt free and at peace. As she came near to the end of the fall she flipped herself over so she backwards into the cart of hay that laid below the tower. She was quick to jump out of the cart of hay and scale the nearest building, landing on its rooftop and running across it. Jumping from rooftop to rooftop she made it back to HQ in no time at all and unseen as well. Opening the hatch, she landed inside the building and removed her hood. She rolled her shoulders back before walking down the hall and entering the first door on the left.

" 'Ello Gov'nor," Sunset mimicked with a smirk as she walked in with a bow only to earn a bored look from the man behind the desk.

"Very funny, Shimmer. It wasn't funny the first time-"

" I beg to disagree,"

"-And it isn't funny now!" The man spoke a little louder as he finished his sentence. Sunset only shrugged before dropping two items on his desk. A mobile phone and the feather with blood on it.

"The feather thing is still dumb," Sunset commented. The man looked over the rim of his glasses,before looking at the items and taking them,putting the feather into a draw and the phone into his pocket.

"Its tradition, Sunset,"

"Whatever you say. Has my money been wired to my account?"

"Yes. You can leave now," He said,looking back at the paperwork on his desk and waving the back of his hand in a shooing motion towards the door. Sunset mockingly bowed again before walking out of the office. She leant against the wall near the door and looked up at the ceiling. It got easier she would keep telling herself. The killing, the gore, watching other members of the Assassin Brotherhood die at the hands of the Templars. But with her help, she could cripple their control on Canterlot little by little and that was enough to get her through this job. And while the job helped with her bills it also gave her a generous amount of spending money that she could spend on stuff she enjoyed. She let out a breath and finally made her way home.

Sunset closed the door behind her and the first thing she did was look at the clock. 3am it read. She groaned and dropped her keys in the bowl on the small table by the door,walking into her bedroom. She was quick to remove her assassin robes and slip on her oversized but comfortable pjs. She took the robes into the kitchen and threw them in the washing machine, setting a reminder in her phone to wash them before tomorrow night. While on her phone a message icon popped up.

"Where were you tonight?" Read the message that Twilight sent. Sunset looked at the time it was sent and knew that there was no point in replying now as she would be dead asleep. Besides telling Twilight what she did would not only get her fired but it would freak her and everyone else and shes at least 90% sure the Brotherhood would put a massive bounty on her head for revealing who she is considering shes already managed to make the public eye.

All over the news there have been stories of a mysterious shadow called Osiris which isn't really meant to happen as Assassin's are meant to be silent so that alone has already pissed off Gonvenor, the leader of the Canterlot Brotherhood,but he is letting her redeam herself for this mess up so shes got that going for her. Sunset slowly made her way back to bed only to just sit on the edge for a minute or so,looking at the ground. She blinked twice then set an alarm for 8am,putting her phone on the desk by her bed then slipped under the covers,falling alseep almost instantly.

Sunset rolled up to school the next morning on her motorcycle,keeping a close eye out for her friends as she did not want to confront them for multiple reasons. 1) she knew they would ask her about where she was last night and she was not up for an interrogation. 2) She was not a morning person which meant she was grumpy which then meant she would be quick to snap at them. Sunset climbed off her motorcycle and made sure the stand on it was secure before putting her hood up and quickly sneaking into her first class of the day. She sat down once inside the classroom,keeping her head down.

"There you are!" A voice called to her. Oh Sunset could recongise that voice anywhere.

"Ah fuck.." She mumbled to herself before whipping her hood off and spreading her arms out to Twilight in more of a sarcasic fashion than an inviting one, a fake grin to go along with her act "Twilight! How ya been?"

"Don't give me that, Sunset. I was worried about you last night, you didn't pick up your phone once." Twilight spoke with annoyance lacing her tone,her hands on her hips and her lips pursed into a straight line. Sunset blinked at her once before letting out a sigh,her head falling onto her left hand that now rest on table,glancing up at the bookworm.

"Ah gees I'm sorry Twi I didn't know I made you worry it's just..." Sunset paused for a moment,quickly rummaging through her bag only to pull out three pieces of paper stappled together "...I knew if I kept my phone on I wouldn't of got this homework done ya know?"

Twilight appeared to believe her lie because her expression softened and her hands dropped down to her sides.

"What did you get for question 11?"

"Ludwig van Beethoven composed Für Elise,"

"Okay so I wasn't wrong then. Music is and never really was my thing," Twilight spoke,taking a seat next to Sunset. She was about to speak again but noticed a little scrap on Sunsets face which then lead her to notice that from that scrap upwards,up past her left eye and stopping a couple inches below her hair line was darker than the rest of her skin. Sunset was looking down at her phone now so she didn't notice Twilights glance at first but soon felt the burn of her gaze and turned her head slightly to look at her with a raised eyebrow.

"What?"

"Nothing!" Twilight said quickly and snapped her head forward to the front of the class,clenching her jaw. She was going to ask about that later. Twilight text the others to be wary of Sunset and try not to talk to her too much just yet when they came class. When the girls did turn up they all just greeted Sunset with small hi's and hello's which Sunset returned with a small smile before looking back at her phone.

"Well lookie lookie what we got here!" A voice came from the doorway which was soon followed by footsteps that stopped in front of Sunset. Sunset glanced up to see Flash Sentry stood in front of her with a cocky grin on his face. She didn't respond and went back to playing a game on her phone. Flash didn't like this at all and scowled.

"Hey! It's rude to not answer when someone is talking to you."

"Fuck off, Sentry."

"What was that you two faced bitch?!" Flash yelled,slamming his hands onto the table,glaring at her. Sunset didn't respond but all her friends looked on in shock. Flash growled and went to grab Sunsets wrist but in doing so Sunset smacked his hand away, stood up and headbutt him straight in the nose. Flash cried out in pain and stumbled backwards while cupping his hands over his nose. He didn't see the chairs behind him which caused his to trip over them and fall flat on his back. He looked up in horror while he felt blood drip into his hands. Sunset now, was extremely annoyed.

"I said fuck off you blue haired asshole!" Sunset screamed but unfortunatly didn't see the teacher come in. Her eyes widened and she went to say something but it was too late.

"Sunset Shimmer. Principal Celestia's office. Now!" The teacher shouted as she went to help Flash up. Sunset narrowed her eyes slightly but just picked up her backpack and pushed her chair out. She took one sad glance at her friends before storming out of class and towards Principal Celestia's office. Sunset stood in front of Celestia's door,breathed in and out then knocked twice.

"Come in," Celestia spoke from inside before Sunset opened the door. Celestia looked up from her desk and let a tiny frown grace her lips.

"Ah yes Sunset, I was expecting you,"

"Go figure. So which part am in more trouble for?" Sunset asked,closing the door behind her before continuing "Swearing in front of a teacher or breaking Flash's nose?"

"Well both aren't acceptable, Sunset,"

"I'm aware and yet it didn't stop me did it?" Sunset spoke as she looked out the window with a bored expression. Celestia observed Sunset's expression for a moment before speaking.

"You're troubled,"

"Huh?" Sunset responded as she tuned back into the converstion,her eyes widening slightly at the principal's concerned expression.

"You have not been yourself recently. Sunset you have to think about who else is affected by your actions and mood at the moment," Celestia spoke softly,her eyes showing slight sadness for the firey haired girl. Sunset looked directly at Celestia before slumping into her chair and putting her head into her hands.

"You think I don't know that? But this is just something I can't talk about right now. I don't wanna hurt my friends or leave them in the dark but sometimes-" She trailed off,sliding her hands down her face until they fell to her side "-you have to keep things to yourself to protect the people you care about,"

Celestia tensed slightly,biting her lip. She gripped the edge of her desk before she ripped a piece of paper out of her notebook and scribbled down something then handed it to Sunset. Sunset looked between Celestia and the piece of paper a few times before taking it.

"What's this?"

"A note to excuse your actions but just this once." Celestia spoke with a stern look. Sunset raised an eyebrow with her mouth open slightly before she looked at the note and let out a loud laugh.

"Mentally unstable? Oh I like this one," Sunset spoke with a the first genuine smile she had managed today. Celestia couldn't help the small smile that graced her lips at the sight but it was only for a couple of seconds until she waved her hand towards the door.

"Alright just don't milk it," She spoke,looking up once more to see Sunset with a shit-eating grin. Celestia paled.

"Sunset no,"

"Sunset yes,"

"Sunset I swear to god..."

"Can I at least say I have something like PTSD?"

"Sunset!"

"Relax I won't milk it," Sunset replied with a wave of her hand before grabbing her bag and slinging it over her shoulder,flipping up her hood. Right before Sunset walked out the office Celestia spoke up.

"I understand you know. I'm here to talk if you need me,Sunset,". Sunset stopped dead in her tracks at that and hung her head but couldn't help but let out a little chuckle at that.

"..thanks,"

"And thats why-"

"Oh shit waddup!" Sunset yelled as she swung the door open to the class and strolled in after taking her hood off again. She whipped out the note and handed it to her techer "This is for you from Principal Celestia to let you know that what I did is excused. You hear that,Sentry? I got to break your nose and get off scott free!"

Flash scowled "I'll get you for this, Shimmer,"

"Now now I wouldn't be so hasty, you'll regret it,"

"And what makes you say that?"

"I'll show you a sneak preview. Hey Twi!" Sunset yelled causing Twilight to look up with a raised eyebrow.

"Yes?"

"I overheard Flash saying he was gonna bang you into next week!"

"Wait what?! I-I didn't...that wasn't...no!" Flash shouted,shooting up out of his chair and turning around to look at Twilight, who looked absolutely mortified but also very angry.

"Did he now?" Twilight asked through gritted teeth,gripping the book in her hand with all her might to stop her from lashing out. Sunset shook her head and leant over to whisper in Flash's ear.

"What were you saying before? 'You'll get me for this' ?" . Sunset shot the teacher an apologetic look before she went to take Twilight's other hand that wasn't gripping the book and drag her outside. Quickly closing the door behind them, Sunset looked at Twilight sadly.

"Uh sorry about that..it was just the heat of the moment and I wanted to prove a point..." Sunset spoke softly,looking away in embarrassment and rubbing the back of her neck nervously. Twilight looked up at her taller friend and let out a sigh,loosening the grip on her book and smiling softly.

"Hey its alright. Actually I'm glad you told me before he tried something on me," Twilight said,pushing up her glasses. Sunset glanced at her and grinned,putting her arms behind her head.

"So you wanna ditch this joint? I probably won't be let back in now and I kinda don't want to hang out alone," Sunset spoke,clicking the heel of her shoe on the floor as she stared into classroom with her lips in a thin line. Twilight bit her lip and glanced over the rim of her glasses at the door. She breathed in and responded.

"Okay,"

"Oh c'mon Twi you-wait did you just agree?"

"Yeah. Skipping a class is on my bucket list of things to do before I leave school,"

"Of course it is," Sunset mumbled,shaking her head but couldn't help but let out a small smile. She streched out a hand to Twilight. Twilight looked at her with a small blush which only made Sunset chuckle.

"Twilight its just hand holding,"

"I know that!" Twilight said loudly and out of pure stubborness, grabbed Sunset's hand and dragged her along. Sunset kept her mouth shut and followed along. She knew when Twilight was in one of these moods its best not to say anything.

Sunset had managed to loosen her grip as they got near the front entrance but still kept her hand in Twilight's. Twilight looked up at Sunset and gave her a smile which Sunset returned with a wink and a smirk. Of course that made Twilight go red and quickly her head away. While she enjoyed teasing Twilight, Sunset also loved her company. It helped take her mind off everything else that was going on in her life. Sunset was about to speak as the exited the building but stopped when a feather dropped in front of them. Sunset could only frown and narrow her eyes slightly at it. She knew excatly who it was.

"Huh. Thats weird. There are no birds around," Twilight spoke up as she leant down and picked up the feather.

"Yeah...really weird..." Sunset trailed off,looking to the building to the left of her and narrowing her eyes even more at the figure. Sunset glanced at Twilight and quickly pointed to absolutly nothing.

"Look Twi! A robin!"

"Really?! Where?!" Twilight exclaimed excitiedly,spinning around to look in the direction Sunset pointed in. Sunset glared at the figure and signed the words 'later,asshole' in sign language. Sunset could tell he laughed at her before disappearing. Smug dickhead.

"I can't see it," Twilight said after about 10 seconds,putting a hand over her eyes to shield them from the sun.

"I guess I startled it. Sorry Sparky," Sunset said apologetically. Twilight was a little disappointed but just shrugged.

"No big deal there are plenty around Canterlot anyway. So should we go to Sugarcube Corner?" Twilight asked and Sunset just nodded in responce,walking along the street with the book worm but she was keeping a close eye out.

She was going to get him for this.

Oh boy it's been a while since I've written anything. So I was sitting around and thought 'hey what about an Assassin's Creed Equestria Girl's AU?' and here we are! I hope you enjoy it and I will include more Sunlight moments in the next chapter I just wanted to keep it slow for now ya know? But anyhow tell me what you think and have an awesome day!
