Harmony Quest: Tale of the Light and Dark

          As they flew closer to Equestria, the trio noticed it was a little dark. And also, the moon looked a little different.

          Frisk glanced at the moon. 'The moon is beautiful... It's unusually colorful.' She said.

          'Wait, what?' Twilight said, turning to the moon. 'That's not supposed to happen...'

          'Hey, Twilight? Does this have anything to do with your plan when you first went to Earth?' Spike whispered to her.

          'I don't know, Spike... I was worried about it, but I gradually forgot...' She replied in a soft voice.

          They landed in the middle of a forest. Twilight disabled her spell and the trio started to walk around the forest, hoping to find an exit. As they were walking, Twilight heard sounds coming nearby.

          'Quick, hide!' She told the other two. They hid behind a bush and saw a guard wearing navy-colored armor walking around the place. As he left and out of sight, they continued to walk around.

          'Who was he?' Frisk whispered to Twilight.

          'That...seems to be a member of the royal guard but... I remembered their armor color was supposed to be white, not navy... I have no idea of what's going on in here!' She whispered back.

          'Something is fishy here, Twilly.' Frisk told her.

          Twilight was getting nervous. 'I don't really know, Frisk... Remember that story I told you before? I think it had something to do with it... I think I really messed up on this one...'

          'Messed up on what?' Frisk asked.

          '(Sigh) Never mind.'

          They walked to the edge of a hill, just looking over the area, they saw a familiar pony sitting quietly there.

          'Someone's there, who is that?' Frisk asked Twilight.

          The princess gasped for a bit. 'Starlight Glimmer? Is that you?'

          She walked closer to her, the lavender-colored pony, with a blue and purple mane. In her mind, she knew it was her friend. As she was close, she heard her speaking to herself.

          '(Sobs) Twilight... When will you come back?' Starlight cried, wiping her tears. 'Where have you gone to for so long?'

          Hearing that, Twilight smiled. She tapped her back, and Starlight gasped.

          '(Chuckles) I missed you too, my student,' She said, hugging her friend.

          Starlight was surprised for a bit and started to really cry. 'You finally came back! I missed you a lot while you were gone! Where have you been for so long?'

          Then, Spike and Frisk came over.

          'Hi, Spike! How have you been lately?' Starlight asked, letting go of Twilight. Then, she saw the human, standing tall and having arms like nopony she has ever seen.

          'Hey, I haven't seen you around here before, have I?' She asked her. 'You aren't even a pony...You don't come from here, do you?'

          'Ah, where are my manners?' Twilight chuckled, turning to Starlight. 'This is my new friend, Frisk. I met her after I went to the human world Earth.' She explained.

          'Hi, pleased to meet you,' Frisk said, reaching out her hand for a handshake.

          Starlight felt a little awkward at first, but she used her hoof to shake her hand anyway. 'My name is Starlight Glimmer, but just call me Starlight for short.I am a good friend of Twilight's.' She said, feeling a little embarrassed.

          Twilight saw the look on Frisk's face and said, 'Oh, you have to excuse her for a moment, she is getting used to being friends with others after what happened.'

          'I thought we promised not to bring that up again,' Starlight whispered to her.

          'I had to break that "pinkie promise", Starlight.' Twilight replied. They burst into laughter. 'So how's everypony's life been in here since I was gone?'

          'It's complicated...Let me tell you when we get back to the castle. Oh, and Frisk, you can come with us too.' Starlight told them, shivering.

          As they were walking back, Frisk was asking Twilight a lot of things. 'You have a freaking castle!?' She questioned her, surprised.

          'Haven't I told you already I was the princess of friendship?' She replied.

          'You're right, but I guess I don't have to feel jealous of that because I am an empress of my own as well.' Frisk laughed.

          They got back to the castle not long from where they started.The crystal castle was still in great shape, and still very beautiful.They walked through the castle hallways until they got to the throne room.

          'I was just casually talking with your friends, then I wanted to take a stroll in the forest, but I never thought I will see you!' Starlight exclaimed.

          'I hope they still remember me,' Twilight thought.She turned to Frisk and said, 'Oh, and Frisk, just stay aside when I go reunite with my friends.They are probably gonna have a group hug with me and they will probably be telling me a lot of stuff.'

          'Normally I will feel a little left out, but since it has been like, a decade or two since you were here I guess I'm okay with it.' Frisk smiled.

          So, Starlight carefully opened the door and entered. The other 5 ponies were also there: Applejack, Fluttershy, Pinkie Pie, Rarity and Rainbow Dash. They were chatting a lot with each other, at least until Starlight came in.

          'Hey, everypony? You would not believe who I just ran into!' Starlight said, smiling.

          'Who is it, sugarcube?' Applejack asked.

          Twilight Sparkle came into the room, for the first time in literally years.

          The other ponies immediately gasped and had a smile on their faces. 'Twilight!' They said happily at the same time.

          Everypony went over to her for a group hug. 'Haha, I am back girls, I love you all too!' Twilight smiled.

          'Oh Twilight, where have you been for so long?' Pinkie asked her.

          'I have so much to talk to you guys about! But first, I made a new friend while I was gone.' Twilight told them. After she is freed from all her friends cuddling her like crazy, she introduces Frisk to everypony.

          'This is Frisk Dreemur, my new human friend from my journey to Earth.' She explained. 'Don't be afraid that she's not one of us, she isn't here to make war. She is just curious about our world, nothing more. From what I know, she is a very strong and determined fighter, but she is also a girl of making peace and love.'

          Everypony started to applaud for the new human. Frisk took a bow and smiled.

          'I am glad to meet all you wonderful friends that my best friend had.' She said.

          Twilight looked at Frisk. 'Welcome to our team, glad to have you along!'

          After they sat down to talk more about what happened, Starlight brought up the thing Twilight asked. 'So... who's going to explain this to Twilight?' She asked nervously.

          'Uhm, I'm not,' Fluttershy said.

          'I'll tell you guys,' Rainbow cut her off. 'I have no idea why, but now Nightmare Moon has apparently taken over Equestria.'

          'What!? What happened?' Twilight said, shocked.

          'It's still a mystery, darling. The most recent news we found was that we couldn't find the elements of harmony. Neither on the harmony tree nor in the castle of the two sisters.' Rarity explained.

          'Who could've done such a thing?' Spike asked. Twilight was getting real nervous now.

          Frisk stepped up. 'We need to get to the bottom of this case, and I heard all about Equestria from Twilight, it shouldn't be like this. We got to stop this 'Nightmare Moon' pony.' She said.

          'I don't know whether it's day or night, but...' Starlight yawned. 'I think we are all getting a little tired. Can we talk about this tomorrow?' She asked.

          Applejack yawned too. 'We are kinda tired now, let's talk more about it the next day.'

          Twilight went to her room, with Frisk following her. 'I don't know if you mind, but I don't mind we sleep together.' She said.

          Frisk laughed. 'You are just a little random sometimes.' Twilight laughed as well, as they got into bed.

          'Thanks for the clothing spell by the way,' She said.

          'Oh, it's nothing. Let's get some rest, and talk about our plan the next morning, I need a rest.' Twilight yawned.

          'Well, good night then Twilly.' Frisk said as she fell asleep.

          Twilight giggled a bit. 'Good night.' She replied as she blew out the safely protected candles in her room, and went to sleep.

          Frisk woke up during the middle of the night (Well, it's actually always night), and to see Twilight wasn't by her side.

          'Where did she run off to?' She thought.She ran into the forest to see if she can find her. Later, she went back to the empty spot she landed at, and there's Twilight, sitting there alone in the night.

          'Twilly?Are you okay?' She asked.

          'Oh...It's nothing. I just... need some time alone, nothing special.' Twilight replied in a soft voice.

          As she turned around to face Frisk, her face was actually covered in tears.

          'Are you crying? What happened?' She sat down next to her friend.

          'It was my fault... All of this right now... It's because of what I did...' Twilight was sobbing.

          Frisk was curious why. 'How can you say it's your fault? You had to use the elements to come save Earth. It was the core thing that helped us save my country.'

          'You don't get it,' Twilight cried. 'Equestria's most important defense is the elements, I altered the timeline to get the elements back when Nightmare moon was attacking the place since that time is possibly the only time I can steal the elements of harmony without anyone noticing. Since the elements aren't there anymore, she beat our former ruler... Princess Celestia,' She explained.

          'But why didn't anything change really? You said when Starlight was traveling through time history was altered greatly!'

          'That's because when she prevented the 'rainboom' from Rainbow Dash happening,  it wasn't able to connect us together since we actually got our 'cutie marks' at the same time and we had a special connection. Without it, we won't be stopping multiple forces from attacking Equestria.'

          Frisk let out a sigh. She put her around her to comfort her friend. 'Look, Twilight, sometimes these things happen. You can't be able to do something if you don't sacrifice something else. That's the same case with you now. Through my experiences, I think you can do it. We can defeat Nightmare Moon again and send her to where she belongs. Because as far as I know, friendship is a powerful thing. You taught me that the first day I met you.We brought the elements with us,  we can defeat her pretty soon.' She calmly told her.

          Frisk helped Twilight dry her tears and waited for her to calm down. 'Thank, Frisk, I am glad I met you that day.' She said, still sniffing from her tears.

          'Let's actually get some rest and move on.' Frisk suggested.

          The next day, still under the moonlight, the group was talking about their plan to defeat Nightmare Moon once and for all,  until Twilight came in.

          'Hey, girls...I have a confession to make.' She said anxiously.

          'You can tell us if you want to, I don't mind,' Fluttershy replied.

          She got her bag and reached for the elements.Everypony gasped in shock of her keeping them for so long.

          'What!?You had them all along?' Rainbow exclaimed.

          Twilight sighed.She knows this won't be good for her. 'Let me explain what happened...'

          'So that time traveling spell you told me to do...It was for this?' Starlight asked her.

          'I know girls, it was my fault I altered the timeline, I am so sorry...' Twilight was going to cry again.

          Being the understanding pony she is, Applejack went over to her. 'Twilight, you sacrificed the one thing that we depended on to beat out other bad forces attacking.But trust me, it was for a good cause.'

          Even the very unserious Pinkie Pie had her mane deflated. 'You saved Earth because of the elements of harmony!That makes up for it right?'

          While Twilight was still feeling a bit guilty at first, seeing her friends being so nice to her,  she finally puts that away as a thing in the past.All she needed to do was ask for their forgiveness.

          'So...After al, I did,  after everything, I altered to make Equestria such a miserable place...Can you all forgive me?' She said softly.

          Everypony nodded and went over to comfort her, even Frisk did!

          'You're never alone Twilight, we will always be with you.' Frisk smiled.

          Twilight got herself free from her friends. 'Thanks, girls, it means a lot.' She said, relieved. 'So, what's the plan?'

          Rainbow Dash immediately spoke up. 'Alright listen up everypony, our plan will go a little like this...'

          The plan was surprisingly simple; Use the elements, storm the castle, defeat Nightmare Moon and send her to the moon, done.Call it a day and everypony's lives return to normal.

          'I thought you ponies would have a pretty like complicated plan,  I didn't expect to be so direct, though.' Spike said.

          'Sometimes the best plans are the most direct ones,' Starlight punched him playfully. 'Now that we are all back together, we can use the elements that Twilight just so happened to bring with her to defeat Nightmare Moon!'

          But, what they didn't expect, was what happened after Frisk used the elements for saving her country.

          'Girls, I'm afraid this plan won't work...' Twilight said mid-way.

          'What!?Why not?' Rainbow shouted.

          'Calm down Dash, she must have a reason,' Rarity told her.

          Frisk sighed. 'When I used to elements to be able to give myself the ability to save my country from that stupid emperor, Twilight told me the magic from them was nearly drained after that long fight.I suppose you guys would definitely not want to wait forever for them to charge to its maximum potential, but I don't know how else we would possibly be able to charge it up faster.'

          And everypony instantly became hopeless on their plan.

          'I thought it would be this easy,' Fluttershy said. 'But through our experiences, dealing with sins wasn't easy.'

          But then, Starlight had an idea. 'Twilight, did you tell me before how the elements get the magic from?'

          'It's obviously none other than friendship, of course.'

          'Why don't we help the crystals regain their power through spreading friendship?It is very simple, considering you are the princess of friendship.' She suggested.

          'But how in Equestria are we gonna do that?' Applejack asked. 'We aren't getting much friendship problems after Nightmare Moon took over this place!'

          It took a bit of silent thinking for the plan to work out.At last, Frisk thought of something. 'Speaking of which, I haven't really got used to this world yet...Maybe I can possibly help you all  while trying to blend in at the same time.'

          'It's worth a shot,' Starlight replied. 'Without friendship, I don't think we will be using them in the battle.'

          'Great idea!While you recharge the power of the crystals, you can learn more about friendship as well!' Twilight said. 'Okay, new plan.Frisk and I will be going around spreading friendship and help recharge the elements.Starlight,you're coming with us too.' She suggested, winking at Starlight.

          'I guess I can help a little,' She thought, feeling shy.

          'While we're doing that, the rest of you can work on our battle plan.Applejack, Dash, you two go sneak on the guards so we can easily break through into the throne room.Pinkie Pie, go with them to try and distract the guards so they can carry out their part.And for Rarity and Fluttershy, you get to discuss what works after they come back.In the meantime, make sure everypony is good and fine.' She explained.

          The group thought it was pretty good, so they closed their deal on the plan.

          'Let's make Equestria great again!' Frisk said confidently.

          So everypony gathered and put their hoofs (or hands) together. 'Let's do this!' They said in harmony, raising their hoofs and hands.
