LEGO World Adventures 2: The Ultimate Life Form

Human Twilight Sparkle yawned as her friends were already inside her basement, setting up their next story for the Lego Team.

"Soooo, what's the plot this time?" Twilight rubbed her eyes as she slowly became fully awake.

"This time, we're introducing one of our favorite characters!" Rarity held up a minifig of a black hedgehog that slightly looked like Sonic.

"Who?"

"Only the second most popular character in the whole canon!" Rainbow Dash answered as they set the minfigs in the Lego Team HQ.

"Let's begin the story of the Ultimate Lifeform!" Pinkie shouted.

A few months after the Perfect Chaos incident

Canterlot City was nearly done in its reconstruction. Most of the water had been drained and the buildings were being restored to their original state. Sonic was currently racing around the streets, looking for any trapped civilians. Applejack was lifting some heavy materials for the construction crew to place on the building. The city's newest residents, the Avengers, were also helping with the reconstruction efforts. Iron Man, AKA Tony Stark, generously donated the funds needed to rebuild the city and was currently helping place replacement girders on the very high buildings.

"It's coming together quite nicely," Luna Playwell told her sister Celestia and Sunset as she sipped a cup of overpriced coffee ($53 today!).

"Indeed it is," Sunset replied. "Though, I don't think we should breathe easy. I mean, Loki and Dr. Eggman are still at large and can potentially cause trouble on their own."

"I don't think Loki will be an issue since we have Thor to help protect our city," Celestia said somewhat dreamily.

"You just care about his abs," Luna teased, causing her older sister to blush.

"I-I do not!" Sunset cleared her throat loudly, causing the two to stop arguing.

"So why did you want to see me?"

"Ah, that," Celestia let go of Luna's arm, acting professional again. "You see, after the attack of Perfect Chaos, my uncle suggested we build our own line of defense robots to help combat Dr. Eggman and other threats. These robots will commanded by the Lego World's military known as G.U.N."

"G.U.N.?" Sunset chuckled at the acronym a little.

"The Guardian Unit of Nations," Luna explained. "They're the more legal version of President Business's army, but they were formed after he was defeated."

"And why didn't they help us with Midnight Sparkle?"

"They did not have the necessary firepower to combat such a menace at the time," Celestia continued. "But hopefully, they can help lead us toward peace."

Elsewhere

In Lego City's main research lab, numerous scientist minifigs were building the numerous robots ordered by Kjeld Playwell.

"With these robots, we can defeat people like Dr. Eggman once and for all," one scientist said to his superior.

"Yes," the head scientist nodded. "Our designs are superior to his in every way."

However, they were unaware a spy drone was recording their every move...

Eggman's base

"That's an impossibility," Dr. Eggman stated to his two robot assistants, Orbot and Cubot. "If their robots were better, that would make them smarter than me."

"It does look like they made progress, Doctor," the red orb-shaped robot agreed.

"If it's true, we'll be in big trouble," his yellow cube-shaped companion added.

"Then I'll just hack into their mainframe and I'll have instant access to all of their robot designs," Eggman began to furiously type at his keyboard as he logged into the Lego Team's computer. "Great, we're in!" Numerous blueprints of the G.U.N. robots flashed on the screen. "How did they come up with these designs so quickly?!" He suddenly froze as the photo of a man that vaguely resembled him appeared on the screen. "It can't be!"

"Dr. Eggman?" Orbot asked.

"Is something wrong?"

"Unbelievable..." Eggman slumped back into his chair. "This can only mean... this world is the world that I was born in!" His two assistants widened their eyes in shock. "This is Professor Gerald Robotnik, who was the greatest scientific genius of his time. He's my grandfather."

"Does this mean there's a connection between this world and the one we came from?" Orbot questioned.

"But how can that be?" Cubot asked.

"The two worlds are in parallel universes and share the exact same moment in time and space, each is unaware of the other's existence. But thanks to Chaos Control, we traveled between them! Let's see if there's any data about my grandfather that can clear up this mystery." He tried to open a file that read "Top Secret," but it asked for a password. "Let's try 'Eggman.'" The screen flashed red. "Error?!" He tried again only to be rejected. "'Robotnik?'" Another rejection. "NO WAY!" He covered his face with his hands as he suddenly remembered a young girl that spent most of her time with his grandfather. "Maria!" He grinned as he entered his cousin's name, granting him access to the file.

"You did it!" Cubot cheered.

In Lego City's branch of the Lego Team HQ, alarms were blaring, as a computer technician tried to disconnect the hacker.

"What's going on?!" The head technician demanded.

"It's Eggman, sir! He used an unknown password to get into one of our databases! It holds a top secret file that no one has looked at for fifty years!"

"Call off his access!"

"They detected us!" Eggman shouted to his assistants.

"Download proceeding," Orbot and Cubot began to delete the original file from the host computer after copying it to Eggman's. "File deleted from original server!"

Eggman sighed in relief. "Hacking sure is hard work... Now let's have a look at that file..." His jaw dropped when he realized what he was reading. "Th-This is my grandfather's diary!"

"Based on my original projections, I was able to complete my project, Shadow. I designed its mind to be perfect, pure. I will leave everything to it. If you wish, release and awaken it, to the world. If you wish to fill the world with destruction…" Eggman grinned as a new plan for world conquest formed in his head. "I'll release 'Shadow' for you, grandfather."

A few hours later

"I need your help," Kjeld Playwell told an unknown minifig obscured by darkness. They were currently meeting in his office at Lego City. "Now I don't know much about Project Shadow other than the name. There was a file, but it was impossible to read the data."

"And why is that?" The figure asked in a female voice.

"It was password protected. Unfortunately, the file was created by the same scientist who developed Project Shadow and he never told anyone the password. That was fifty years ago."

"But someone did figure out the password and stole the file from the laboratory."

Kjeld nodded. "Dr. Eggman not only stole it but also deleted the original file from our servers."

"So what do you want me to do?" The stranger asked.

"I want you to find out why Dr. Eggman is so interested in Project Shadow and what he's planning to do with it."

"So I'll be needing a Chaos Emerald then." Kjeld nodded before handing the blue Emerald to her. The minifig got up and stretched before heading outside.

On Angel Island, a female minfig was currently trying to haul away a large green gem. She was wearing a black bodysuit along with a mask to hid her identity.

"This is way too heavy..." she groaned.

"HEY!" Knuckles angrily shouted as he charged at her. "BRING THE MASTER EMERALD BACK HERE!" He quickly smashed a rock, shattering it and causing one of the shards to hit the thief, knocking her down. "Don't you know what is? You're trying to take away the Master Emerald! You're putting us all in danger! The Master Emerald is the only thing that can stop the Chaos Emeralds from going out of control and you're going to help me take it back."

"First, you'll have to catch me." She then tried to dash off.

"COME BACK HERE!" Knuckles slammed his body into her, causing her to slam into a tree and lose her mask, revealing... Sunny Flare, former Shadowbolt member. "Gotcha!" Sunny growled angrily before snatching the Master Emerald again and activating her portable Jump-Gate. Knuckles clenched his fists as Angel Island suddenly began to fall to the ocean again.

"So this Project Shadow file that Eggman stole," Rainbow Dash began as Celestia finished briefing them of the recent events. "What exactly is it?"

"We are unsure. Professor Gerald Robotnik was the head scientist on the project in the hopes of finding immortality, but something went wrong down the line and the project was shut down indefinitely."

"So what can we do?" Sunset asked Celestia. "Hunt for the Chaos Emeralds again? In case Eggman tries to use whatever Project Shadow is to try to attack us?"

"Most likely. Tails has received an Emerald for saving the city from Eggman's missile, so we have one accounted for and my uncle has another one."

Prison Island: Inside the base

"Intruder alert! Intruder alert!" A female voice announced on the island's loudspeakers. "Security breach at Gate 3! Intruder has been located in the north quadrant and is moving in the direction of the underground base! All units prepare to engage! Emergency battle formations! Standard battle procedures initiated! Locate and stop the intruder from entering the security area! This is not a drill! Repeat, this is not a drill!

A security gate was blasted open as Dr. Eggman piloted his Egg Mobile walker through the prison's halls, blasting any security robots and defenses along the way.

"Oh, ho, ho! This is more fun than hacking! Now, let's take a look at what my grandfather was working on, a top secret military weapon! The government shut down the research because they feared it!" He began to fight his way through the numerous security levels, easily besting the new defense robots commissioned by G.U.N. Soon, he finally reached Security Level 7. Blasting the door open, he entered the room. In its center was a computer console and below it, a small stasis tube.

"So this is the military's top secret weapon? It's a lot smaller than I expected!" Eggman quickly entered a fake ID into the console. "Now for the password. The password is 'Maria.' Now all what's left is to power the machine with the Chaos Emerald and we're good to go." He placed the white gem into the main power slot. The stasis tube began to rise up to his level and slowly opened, mist pouring out of it with a hiss. A lone figure began to rise from the tube, in a shape that looked like a certain hedgehog...

"Y-You?! It can't be!" Eggman shouted in disbelief as the hedgehog stepped out of the tube and stood before the mad doctor, still covered by smoke.
