My Little Pony Friendship is Chaos
Equestria Girls
Previous ChapterNext Chapter“Remind me why we’re here again?” Chaos asked the girls as they disembarked the train.
“Don’t joke Chaos.” Rarity replied, “You know exactly what we are here for.”
“Fine.” He responded, “Twilight’s summit.”
“Hoo-wee!” Applejack exclaimed, “Your very first princess summit. You must be over the moon, Twilight.”
“Oh, I am excited.” Twilight answered anxious, “But to be honest, I’m a little nervous, too.”
“You're 'nervicited'!” Pinkie Pie exclaimed, “It's like you wanna jump up and down and yell "YAY ME!!" But you also wanna curl up in a teeny-tiny ball and hide at the same time! We've all been there!”
“Well, we all know that Fluttershy is there everyday.” Chaos joked.
“That is true.” Fluttershy replied softly as always.
“You've got no reason to fret, Twi. Everything's gonna be just–” Applejack answered before being cut off by Rarity.
“TWILIGHT!” She yelled, “Oh, sorry, darling, but I just realized you're not wearing your crown. You haven't forgotten it back in Ponyville, have you?”
“It's in my bag.” Twilight responded, “Just feel a little self-conscious about wearing it. Haven't really gotten accustomed to these yet, either.”
“You are a princess now, Twilight.” Rarity replied, “Embrace it! I'm telling you, if I had a crown like that, I would never take it off. Why, I'd sleep in the thing.”
“Of course you would Rarity. We all know you would.” Chaos said jokingly.
In the throne room, Twilight bumped into an amber-coated Pegasus royal guard that was different than the other royal guards who introduces her as, "her highness, Princess Twilight Sparkle." After that little introduction, she and her friends meet with Princesses Celestia, Luna, and Cadance. Celestia took notice of how tired Twilight and her friends look from their trip and sent the eight of them off to bed.
“Aww. But I’m not sleepy.” Chaos groaned, “Besides, I haven’t had a good sleep ever since that fateful day.”
“And that is?” Cadance asked curious.
“Hell if I know.” He replied, “I believe it all began when I arrived here. That’s when my sleep pattern and time sleeping changed. I can sleep for a little while and still wake up as if I had a full eight to ten hour sleep.”
Some time later, as she tries on her crown, Twilight is once again began feeling unsure of herself wondering what will happen now that she had become a princess.
“What's wrong, Twilight?” Spike asked, noticing she seemed unhappy.
“I don't know, Spike.” She responded almost melancholy, “I'm just... worried, I guess. Princess Cadance was given the Crystal Empire to rule over. What if, now that I'm a princess, Celestia expects me to lead a kingdom of my own?”
“That would be awesome!” Spike exclaimed.
“No, it would not! Just because I have this crown and these wings, it doesn't mean I'll be a good leader!” She said saddened.
“Aw, sure ya will, Twilight. Now c'mon, you should get some shut-eye. Big day tomorrow!” Spike replied with a sigh. Though Twilight has some trouble trying to keep her wings folded at first, she eventually managed to fall asleep.
Later that night, a pony in a cloak snuck into the castle, past the patrol of royal guards and into Twilight and Spike's guest room. Using unicorn magic, the cloaked pony managed to switch Twilight's crown with a fake crown and attempted to flee. However, as the unicorn snuck past Spike, he rolled over in his sleep at the last second, flipping his tail in the way thus causing the thief to trip over it with their back hoof, crashing into the floor and stirring Twilight and Spike from their sleep. Twilight, noticed the crown in the unicorn's saddlebag, and cries, "My crown! She's got my crown! Stop! Thief! She's stolen my crown!" before giving chase.
Her shouts wake the other Element bearers as she passed their rooms and they quickly join in the pursuit.
Twilight attempted to cut the thief off by teleporting, but the unicorn was just as skilled at teleportation as she was; uncloaked by the spell, the thief is revealed to be a mare.
Chaos ran passed the girls and jumped way in front of the mare preparing to strike. Knowing her path was blocked, once she got close to Chaos, she teleported in front of him and continued to flee.
However, Twilight tackled the fleeing unicorn to the ground as they reach a chamber in the castle that houses a large mirror. During the struggle, Twilight's crown fell through the mirror.
With a wicked grin and a sarcastic, insincere apology, “Sorry it had to be this way... Princess.” The mystery mare untangles herself from Twilight by teleporting to the mirror and leaped through it, to Twilight and her friends' shock.
“Who was that?” Fluttershy asked confused.
The next morning, Princess Celestia identified the unicorn as Sunset Shimmer, “A former student of mine.” Celestia explained, “She began her studies with me not long before Twilight. But when she did not get what she wanted as quickly as she liked, she turned cruel and dishonest. I tried to help her, but she eventually decided to abandon her studies and pursue her own path. One that has sadly led to her stealing your crown.”
“She replaced Twilight's with this one.” Spike replied as he brought out the fake crown.
“I suppose Sunset Shimmer thought you wouldn't notice right away that this was not yours. And by the time you did, it would be too late to go after your crown and Element of Harmony.” Celestia answered.
“Then it’s a good thing Twilight woke up when she did. Now enough chit chat and let’s get going.” Chaos insisted, “If we want to stop this Sunset Shimmer, we have to get a move on.”
“Agreed. But I don't understand. Where did she go? Why did she take the crown?” Twilight asked.
“You'll soon know more about this place than even I do.” Celestia responded as they all walked toward where the giant mirror room was.
“This is no ordinary mirror. It is a gateway to another world. A gateway that opens once every thirty moons.” Luna began to explain.
“Sparkly!” Pinkie Pie exclaimed as she touched the surface of the mirror before Luna used her magic to move her hoof away.
“It has always been kept in the throne room of Canterlot Castle.” Luna began explaining again, “But when Princess Cadance took over the Crystal Empire, we sent it here for her to watch over.”
“Then why didn’t you destroy it if it’s that dangerous? Or better yet, place it somewhere where if someone or something came through that portal, it wouldn’t be able to hurt anyone?” Chaos asked.
Princess Celestia sighed then said, “I had always hoped that Sunset Shimmer would someday use it to return, to come back to Equestria seeking my guidance. Obviously, this is not what has happened.”
“Agreed.” Chaos replied. “Twilight, you must use the mirror to go into this other world and retrieve your crown. Without it, the other Elements of Harmony have no power and Equestria is left without one of its most important means of defense.” Cadance explained.
“Your crown does not belong in the place Sunset Shimmer now calls home. And in her possession, your Element of Harmony will no doubt be used to bring harm to the inhabitants of this other realm. They will not have the power to defend themselves.” Luna mentioned.
Unfortunately, such a task had its share of complications.
“Whoa, whoa, whoa!” Rainbow Dash exclaimed, “She's going, we're going with her. Right, girls? Oh, and you too Chaos.”
“Mmmmhm.” Chaos groaned.
“I'm afraid I can't let you go.” Celestia responded.
“What?! Why not?!” Rainbow said confused.
“Sending all of you could upset the balance of this alternate world, creating havoc that would make it impossible for Twilight to get the crown back from Sunset Shimmer. This is something Princess Twilight must do alone.”
“Well isn’t that an obvious plot device. Wouldn’t it make more sense to say that the rest of the girls stay as defense?” Chaos interrupted.
“What?” Everyone asked confused.
“Nothing.” He responded, “Then at least send me with her. I’m from a different world and have experience fighting; as well as a few other things. Not only that, it’s better so if in a worst case scenario, someone will be there to help her.”
“I-I’m not sure you should.” Celestia replied.
“Think of it this way, there is little to no knowledge about this other realm that you or anyone here know of. What’s to say that the environment or something of the sorts make it hard to impossible for Twilight to retrieve her crown. Take it from someone who has traveled from one realm to another. It wouldn’t hurt to have back-up. Also technically, I’m not supposed to be here in this realm, so, if I managed to arrive here and not upset the balance of this world whatsoever, then I’m pretty sure that I won’t have any effect in that world either. Unlike the girls. Because technically, I’m also not supposed to be there either.”
“I see what you mean, Chaos.” Celestia responded, “Very well. You may accompany Twilight on her journey and help her in any way you deem possible.”
“As you wish.” Chaos replied.
“Time is of the essence.” Princess Luna remarked, “On the third day, when the moon reaches its peak in the night sky, the gateway will close. And once it does, it will be another thirty moons before you will be able to use it to return.”
“After you.” Chaos remarked. With some encouragement from her friends, Twilight stepped through the gateway. Only moments later, an anxious Spike follows after her.
“Spike, NO!” The girls exclaimed as they tried to stop Spike with no avail.
Dizzy from the journey across worlds, Twilight slowly opened her eyes, surprised to find Spike—now a small purple-furred dog—standing before her.
“Huh? Spike! You're not supposed to– Spike? Are you a... dog?” She asked perplexed.
“I... think so.” He replied, “But I have no idea what you are! Wait, now that I think about it, you look a lot like Chaos.” Twilight then noticed she now had finger, hands and legs, all similar to Chaos, as Spike had mentioned. Twilight screamed in horror as she wasn’t familiar with her form.
“Twilight, you have to get it together!” Spike yelled.
After a few heavy breaths and a sigh she asked, “What... does the rest of me look like?” “Um, like you. Only not you. Your muzzle's really small.” Spike replied.
“My muzzle?!” She yelled touching her nose and realizing she didn’t have her muzzle anymore. Twilight was about to panic once again but Spike stopped her and managed to calm her down. Seconds later, Chaos appeared from the gateway prepared to attack. However, once he noticed that there was no imminent danger, he lightened up and slowly began to realize where he was.
“Well isn’t this just peachy!” He exclaimed happily, “This is unreal.” He feel to his knees almost in tears before noticing twilight and Spike close by. “What the fuck?!” He screamed once seeing how his friends looked like.
“Chaos!” She screamed, “What am I?!”
“You’re a human.” He replied, “Intriguing. But then again it is rather obvious. Of course you’re not going to stay in your pony form if you are coming to a human world. Cause let me tell you straight out, we humans can kinda be major assholes.”
“Great!” Spike exclaimed, “You can help us out in this world after all.”
“And the Princesses thought I shouldn’t have come. Wish they could see me now.”
“So, where are we?” Spike asked. “Can’t tell you exactly, but as far as I know we haven’t caught the attention of anyone so, that’s good start.”
“We need to find my crown as soon as possible and get back there. I suggest we start searching the castle first.” Twilight point towards the building in front of her.
Chaos turned around and said, “That ain’t no castle. We must be at a school of some sort. I’m gonna guess high school.”
As they headed to the school, Chaos quickly noticed that Twilight was still running on all fours.
“What in the name of Quetzalcoatl are you doing?” He asked extremely confused, “You’re a human now. Act like one.”
“Yeah, I don't think that's how the new you is supposed to…” Spike mentioned as they passed a person walking his dog. However, Twilight struggled to get used to her new body, learning to walk upright and such. Once Twilight shakenly managed to get to the school’s door’s she tried using her magic to open it with no success.
"My magic! It isn't working!” Twilight screamed.
“Makes sense. You don't exactly have your horn.” Spike responded.
“What?!” She yelled.
“Please don’t scream again.” Chaos begged, “I could already hear your screams of horror when I was traveling through the portal. Also we really need to find you a mirror.”
He then pushed the door open and they all entered the empty school. Once inside, Twilight went to a nearby glass window display case and asked, “What do ya think, Spike? Other artifacts she's stolen from Equestria?”
“Doubtful.” Chaos interrupted, “If this anything like my world, then these are simple pictures and trophies. No magic whatsoever.”
A few moments later, the school bell rang thus causing dozens of teenagers to pour into the hallway. Amongst the confusion, Chaos and Twilight got separated for a while. An overwhelmed Twilight stumbled her way out of the crowd and bumped into a teenage boy with spiky blue hair who helped her to her feet. As Twilight watched him walk off, it became apparent to her and Spike that they needed to quickly learn about this new world.
As for Chaos, he wandered off noticing that the students were multi-colored. This can’t be right, can it? Multi-colored people? This is pure anarchy. Do they have radiation poisoning or something? That could somewhat explain why they’re multi-colored. However, with this many people having that condition is a bit farfetched. Unless… Unless, this is a parallel world to Equestria. In that, case it makes much more sense that many of the students I’ve seen are humanoid versions like the ones from Equestria.
Back with Twilight, she began to grow more accustomed to her human body. As she passed by faces both new and familiar to her, she listened in on a conversation between two girls: one is being considerably cruel and verbally abusive to the other. Twilight stepped in to defend the girl being harassed, "How dare you speak to her that way!”
“What did you say?” The cruel girl asked surprised.
“I said, “How dare you speak to her that way!” Twilight repeated.
“You must be new here." The cruel girl replied, "I can speak to anyone any way I want.” The girl Twilight stood up for introduced herself as Fluttershy, much to Twilight's surprise. Before she could dwell on this, Fluttershy noticed Spike and started to fawn over him in the exact same manner her pony counterpart did when they first arrived to Ponyville. Twilight asked Fluttershy about the crown and she told her that she had indeed found the crown while handing out flyers for Canterlot's animal shelter on the front lawn that morning, the crown came through the portal and struck the back of her head. Not wanting anything to happen to it, she then turned it over to Principal Celestia.
With this information, Twilight and Spike head to the principal's office, not before bumping into Chaos who had a look of horror and shock. “Twilight, we must leave now!” he exclaimed, “All of these students have radiation poisoning! We’re all gonna die!” He then ran off and out of the building yelling and screaming making no sense whatsoever.
Twilight entered Principal Celestia's office and asks her about the crown while keeping Spike hidden in her backpack on Fluttershy's advice. She quickly found out that she couldn’t get it back as soon as she hopped. The principle told her that she needed to run for something called the Fall Formal Dance and win in order to get her crown. With few to no alternatives, Twilight decided to run for Princess of the Fall Formal to get her crown back. However, she just has no idea how to do so.
Later that day during lunch, Twilight meet up with Fluttershy and let her know of her decision to run for Princess of the Fall Formal. The news came as a shock to Fluttershy, who warned Twilight that Sunset made life miserable for those who opposed her. It came to more of a shock to not only Fluttershy but everyone in the cafeteria once Chaos entered the room. A few seconds ago, the room was filled with laughter and chatter but once Chaos entered, everybody went silent.
“What’s cracking Twilight?” He asked jokingly.
“Hey, Chaos. Where have you been all this time?” Twilight asked curiously.
“Let’s just say that I’m beginning to familiarize myself with this world more and more. It may not be the future I had in mind but technology here has proven to be very useful.” He responded cryptically, “What’s up with her?”
“Oh! Sorry.” She replied, “Fluttershy this is my friend Ch…”
“Ch-Ch-Chaos…” Fluttershy stuttered before passing out before them.
Luckily Chaos caught her before she hit the ground. He carried her to the nearest seat and sat her there. Seconds later, Fluttershy began regaining consciousness causing Twilight and Chaos to ask if she was alright. Once letting them know she was fine, she whispered to Twilight, “Please tell me I’m hallucinating. Please tell me I’m not seeing Chaos standing in front of me.”
“Why do you say that?” Twilight asked confused.
“Umm, well, Chaos isn’t supposed to be here anymore.” "
What do you mean by th-”
Chaos interrupted their conversation as he pointed out that everyone was staring at them. “Ummm, no. They’re staring at you Chaos.” Fluttershy said in a hushed voice.
“Why would they be... You know what, we can finish this some other time. Twilight, you have news about your crown?” Chaos asked.
“Yes!” Twilight exclaimed, “In order to get my crown back, I’m going to run for Princess of the Fall Formal.”
"Can’t you just take it back? I mean it is your isn’t it?” Chaos asked.
“I think it’s better to blend in. That’s why I’m gonna sign up for the Fall Formal.”
“That’s a bad idea.” Fluttershy replied.
“Why?” Chaos and Twilight asked perplexed.
“Sunset Shimmer wants to be Fall Formal Princess, and when she wants something, she gets it! She'll make life awful for anyone who stands in her way. Just ask the girl who ran against her for Princess of the Spring Fling.” Fluttershy explained.
“I have to try.” Twilight responded with determination.
“Agreed.”
“Oh, I don't think you understand.” Fluttershy responded, “You'd have to convince everyone here to vote for you instead of her: the athletes, the fashionistas, the dramas, the eco-kids, the techies, the rockers...”
“Oh that won’t be a problem.” Chaos declared confident, “Now before you ask, let’s just say that I can be very persuasive when I want to be.”
“So, uh, where would I find the head of the party planning committee?” Twilight asked with a small nervous giggle.
After lunch they headed towards the school’s gym to find the party planner. “Fluttershy said she'd probably be in here.” Twilight told Spike and Chaos. There, they meet another familiar—and at the same time unfamiliar—face: Pinkie Pie. While the peppy girl was more than happy to put Twilight's name on the ballot, she's became less than thrilled to know Fluttershy was involved.
As the two of them talked, in enters another face Twilight, Spike and Chaos recognized: Applejack, delivering cases of fizzy apple cider with the help of Big McIntosh. Chaos offered to help but Applejack and Pinkie Pie stood there with their mouths open as if they had seen a ghost or something. However, Twilight quickly diverted the attention from Chaos back to her, leaving no time for either Applejack or Pinkie Pie to explain why they were surprised to see Chaos.
Upon learning that Twilight was running against Sunset Shimmer for Princess, Applejack warned that Sunset is not to be trusted, commenting that the only girl in the school who's even less trustworthy was Rainbow Dash. Twilight took her leave of the auditorium, and Sunset Shimmer entered just moments later with Snips and Snails. She spared no harsh words regarding the decorations and choice of refreshments, inciting Applejack's anger. Sunset later found them and confronted Twilight in a barely lit, dead end hallway and gave her a verbal lashing, scoffing at her efforts to run for Princess of the Fall Formal, outright insulting and belittling her, and even threatening Spike's safety.
“You want to be a princess here? Please. You don't know the first thing about fitting in.” Sunset said to her.
However, Chaos intervened and made even harsher and deadlier threats at Sunset if she even dared to hurt Twilight or Spike. At first, he thought he had gone too far as he saw her acting the same way Fluttershy, Applejack, and Pinkie Pie did once they saw him.
“This can’t be real! You’re not real!” She exclaimed almost terrified.
“Seriously.” He said unamused, “This again. Every time I seemingly enter a room everyone just looks at me like some freak or something. Do you know something I don’t? If so, spill it or I swear to you that i will look for you, I will find you, I will make you tell me what you are hiding and then I will kill you. If for some strange reason you took the last part seriously, don’t, it was a joke.”
Snips and Snails screamed terrified as they dragged Sunset away. After calming herself down, Sunset ordered Snips and Snails to follow Twilight and bring her something she can use to discredit Twilight in the eyes of the student body while keeping away from Chaos.
With the helpful suggestion of Chaos, Twilight decided to do research about the school to better familiarize herself with it. Much to her delight, Canterlot High had an extensive library. Twilight's attempts at using a computer were inept and awkward, as she made a mess of library books; handling a number of them by mouth rather than by hand; and she has trouble figuring out how to use a copy machine. Unbeknownst to her, Snips and Snails were recording her every embarrassing move via camera phone. To their surprise however, Chaos had no problem with using both the computer and the copy machine. Once having enough footage to give to Sunset, they left for the day.
That evening, as the library neared closing time, it occurs to Twilight that she hadn't thought about where she, Chaos and Spike were going to sleep. Luckily, Chaos with help from Spike had thought ahead and assembled a bed out of books for both Twilight and Spike to sleep on, having discovered a rarely used section tucked away on the second floor of the library.
“Aren’t you gonna sleep too Chaos?” Spike asked as he saw him leaving.
“Nah.” He replied, “Besides, you already know that I don’t sleep much during that night. I can’t sleep now anyways. I have something I have to do. You guys go on.”
“If you say so.” Twilight responded as he left the building.
Meanwhile, Twilight's research into the school yielded a yearbook. Inside, she found an old photo of Pinkie Pie, Rainbow Dash, Applejack, Fluttershy, Rarity, and shockingly enough of Chaos with the girls also smiling for the picture; something that the Chaos they knew usually didn’t do. Twilight and Spike began debating why Chaos appeared in that picture. Eventually Spike noticed that he looked way younger in the picture while the Chaos that has been with them was much older and that he had no previous knowledge of the mirror before. Also, at the bottom of the picture it read: In Memory of Chaos, for saving the school. A wonderful student and classmate, but above all, a Hero. Although the girls appeared to be friends in the photo, they didn't seem to be friends now. Spike reminded Twilight that she couldn’t focus on why the girls were no longer friends: making friends and beating Sunset Shimmer came first.
The next morning, Twilight was ready to make a good first impression on her fellow students, but she found that everyone she passed in the hallway was laughing at her.
“Why is everybody looking at me funny?” She asked Spike. He didn’t get time to respond as Rarity suddenly pulled her into an empty classroom and dresses her in a new outfit and wig, trying to disguise her. Moments later, Applejack, Fluttershy, and Pinkie Pie enter the room.
“There you are, Twilight.” Applejack remarked, I've been lookin' all over for ya!”
“So much for the disguise.” Rarity replied in defeat.
“Me too.” Fluttershy added. “Me three!” Pinkie Pie exclaimed, “I like your new look!” The girls then show Twilight a video on Pinkie’s computer that Sunset Shimmer had posted online, showing Twilight struggling to adapt to her human form and otherwise embarrassing herself on camera.
Soon after, the girls begin arguing amongst themselves. Twilight broke up the argument and with the yearbook photo, reminded the four that they were all friends once causing the girls to fondly remember the photo as being at the school's Freshman Fair.
Immediately, Chaos kicked in the door and shouted, “Everyone freeze! Put yo’ hands in the air, and shake it like you just don’t care… Okay, honestly that went a lot better in my head.”
Once again, all of the girls, except for Twilight, were shocked, amazed, and somewhat terrified seeing Chaos standing before them.
“Oh! Pff. Kch. Ts! This must be a dream. I mu…” Rarity said as she lost consciousness. Luckily Chaos used his telekinetic abilities to make sure she didn’t hit the ground.
“Again with this bullcrap! Will someone please tell me why all of you are looking at me as if I’m some type of ghost or something? It’s getting pretty old this shenanigan.”
“You don’t remember Chaos?” Fluttershy asked.
“Remember what?” he responded angered.
“Chaos… you died freshman year.” Applejack replied saddened.
“What?!” Twilight and Chaos exclaimed.
“A few days after the Freshman Fair two students brought guns to the school and used them while everyone was inside the cafeteria during the lunch period. You managed to take down one of them but got shot twice in the back.” Fluttershy explained, “You didn’t stay down. The one who shot you took me and Rairty hostage and threatened to shoot us if you didn’t surrender.”
“What happened?” he asked curious. “You saw through his bluff and headed straight for him, causing you to get shot three times in the chest, but not before slamming his head onto the ground. By the time the paramedics and the police arrived, you had already lost too much blood and you were pronounced dead. Rarity and I tried to keep you awake for as long as possible but we didn’t succeed.”
“That’s a mighty fine story you have created but I don’t believe you."
“It’s the truth.” Applejack replied, “Show’m Pinke.”
Pinkie Pie quickly open up her laptop and found the video of the news report of that incident. She then pressed play on the video.
“This is XXXXX reporting to you live from just outside the grounds of Canterlot High. Just a few hours ago, two students brought hand guns to this school with the intent of using them; as for their reason, it’s still yet unknown. As you can see behind me there are still police cars, fire trucks, and paramedics still here making sure there are no more threats and injured. Unfortunately, a casualty happened, while trying to save two of his peers, he was shot five times in total. Two shots from one of the assailant’s and three from the other or so we’ve been told. This brave boy’s name was Chaos XXXXX. A socially awkward boy that never brought attention and always kept to himself. From what we gathered he was a good student with above average grades and an even more above average intellect. It seemed that few to none of the students knew who he was besides his name…until today. While everyone was scared for their life, he stood up to the captors and managed to knock them out before they could hurt anyone else. However, we received reports that this boy didn’t survive due to the extensive wounds and profuse bleeding from the gunshots. Wait, I’m getting something. What is that Henshaw? We now have some details about the two assailant’s. It would seem that they received extensive injuries from their fight with him. However, there seems to be no reports that mention Chaos using a weapon or anything from the sorts. This all seems to be a tragic as well as a strange turn of events. We’ll keep you updated, but for now back to you XXXXX.” The then video ended.
“So, let me get this straight, I’m supposed to be dead because some idiots shot me? Chaos asked, “You do know that I can heal right. Unless it’s a shot to the head or heart. If that were the case then yeah, there is no way I’m coming back from that.”
“We all feel sorry for what happened that day Chaos. We all wish we could’ve done something to help you.” Applejack said melancholy.
“There is nothing you or anyone of you could’ve done.” Chaos replied in reassurance, “That was my decision or his decision, whatever. The point is, it was a terrifying situation for everyone. If any of you had helped, there’s a good possibility that you wouldn’t be here right now. No matter how you look at it, none of you are to blame or are at fault.”
“So you’re not here to take revenge us.” Fluttershy asked timidly.
“Come on, don’t tell me you believe in that supernatural stuff. Then again, I have seen very strange shit go down. So technically it might not be too far off. But to answer your question, no. I’m not some super natural being bent on getting revenge you all. All I am here to do is help Twilight get her crown back by any means necessary. That’s all.” The girls sighed in relief once they realized he wasn’t a threat.
“I know this is going to sound stupid and all. But, how did meet i you guys if you don’t mind me asking? And furthermore how did I get to be in that photo? Since the reporter in the video basically said that I had no friends whatsoever.”
“Oh that’s easy.” Pinkie Pie quickly answered, “You saw either Fluttershy or Rarity having trouble with a game at the fair and you offered to help. After that, one of them introduced you to the rest of us and you basically hung out with us for that day basically winning every game that was there. Seriously, you even beat Rainbow Dash at some of the games where she was unbeatable. I could swear that no matter how hard anyone tried, no one could beat you. The reason we got our picture taken was because everyone heard of your winning streak and they wanted your photo for the yearbook. At first they wanted just you but you argued until you got all of us to be in the picture.”
“That completely explains it. Now with that out of the way, we can focus now on how to help Twilight get her crown back.”
Twilight told them that she believed that Sunset Shimmer somehow broke them apart, but the girls claimed it wasn't Sunset Shimmer that dismantled the four's friendship. However a series of text messages and e-mails sent between them ruined school events they had put together. They quickly put two and two together and realize, none of them had sent these alleged messages. At Twilight's encouragement, Applejack approached Rainbow Dash on the school soccer pitch, where the two work out their misunderstandings and reconciled. Rainbow Dash agreed to help Twilight become Princess of the Fall Formal on one condition: beat her in a game of one-on-one. Unfortunately, despite Twilight's best effort throughout, her lack of athleticism and inexperience with sports lead to her thoroughly losing the match.
However, once Chaos challenged Rainbow to a match, he completely obliterated her at her own game. After every goal he would shout, “Goal!” until he ran out of air. He mostly won due to the fact Rainbow was the perplexed and somewhat terrified finding out that he was still alive. Quickly noticing that Rainbow wasn’t trying he explained everything immediately snapping her out. After her defeat from Chaos, Rainbow Dash agreed to help regardless, explaining that what she was actually doing was testing Twilight's "heart and determination", two qualities that the Fall Formal Princess should have, and Twilight proved that she has both.
The next day, the girls all rallied up at the cafeteria causing the students to rouse up with school spirit and pride. However Sunset Shimmer had other plans. She tried to get Twilight in trouble of something she had no part of. A suspicious Flash Sentry, the boy who Twilight kept bumping into, eavesdropped on the conversation then slipped away, determined to get to the truth knowing that Sunset was actually lying. Eventually he found the evidence in the library’s trash can.
However, due to some unforeseen circumstances Twilight didn’t get the chance to properly thank Flash for helping her out. She bursted out of the vice principal's office, leaving behind a disappointed Flash Sentry. Twilight dashed into the boutique where her friends were picking out their formal wear and ducked behind a changing room curtain, where she took stock of the situation.
“Everything okay in there?” Rarity asked.
“Yes!” Twilight answered, “Only it's not okay. It's not okay at all! If I don't get my crown tonight, I won't be able to go back to Equestria for another thirty moons! Oh, what are we gonna do Spike?”
“Hmm. We tell them the truth. Let them know what's really at stake if you don't get the crown tonight. They'll help us figure somethin' out.” Spike told her.
“But what if they won't? What if when they find out how different I really am...?”
“Twilight, these girls rallied around you 'cause they saw what was in your heart. They aren't gonna feel any differently about you when they find out you're a pony princess in Equestria. Besides, look at Chaos’ situation. He’s from a different world entirely as well and we didn’t feel or see him any different. Now if we could accept him, don’t you think these girls will accept you for who you are?”
Twilight reluctantly began telling her friends the truth, but to Twilight, Chaos and Spike's complete and utter shock, Pinkie guessed it.
"You're from an alternate world and you're a pony princess there, and the crown actually has a magical element embedded in it that helps power up other magical elements and without it, they don't work anymore, and you need them to help protect your magical world, and if you don't get the crown tonight, you'll be stuck in this world, and you won't be able to get back for like, really, really long time!” Pinkie exclaimed.
“Holy mother fucking shit!” Chaos blurted out, “Down to the smallest detail. Except that you forgot to add me to that picture. Remember? I’m with her.” The others seemed skeptical at this, until Spike spoke up to confirm it and that he was actually a dragon, shocking everyone except Fluttershy, who became thrilled to finally meet a talking animal. To make sure there was no doubt, Chaos used his telekinetic abilities to make any nearby objects float around him for a few seconds before returning them to their places, shocking the girls even more.
Slowly, the girls all begin accepting the truth and almost immediately bombarded Chaos and Twilight with questions about where they came from. After having answered most of their questions, Twilight and Chaos urged them to hurry back to the auditorium to redecorate and clean up the mess Snips and Snails did.
Once they all arrived at the auditorium, they were amazed as to how bad the place looked.
“I simply cannot believe they did all this!” Rarity exclaimed.
“It’s Snips and Snails,” Chaos replied, “did you really expect anything else?”
“If I only had some kind of... party cannon that could decorate everything super fast!” Pinkie said saddened.
“I know it seems impossible, but, maybe if we all work together?” Twilight suggested.
“Now that's the kinda can-do spirit I'm lookin' for in a Fall Formal Princess! Let's do it, y'all!” Applejack cheered.
After a few minutes of the gang cleaning the giant mess, more and more students began helping out. Eventually the renovations were finished, causing a great impression on Principal Celestia to witness the students' efforts that she didn’t postpone the Fall Formal. As everyone left to get ready for the dance, Celestia reminded the students to vote for the Fall Formal Princess as they left the gym, and a number of students casted their ballot for Twilight. In a gym equipment storage room, Sunset Shimmer chewed out Snips and Snails for going overboard in their trashing of the auditorium, as she needs the Formal to go on that night just as much as Twilight does.
However, she didn’t notice Chaos had entered the room waiting for her to stop talking.
“Well that’s all good and dandy but we need to talk.” Chaos remarked surprising Sunset, “You two get out of here before I choke a bitch.”
“W-What do you want?” She asked terrified.
“It’s pretty easy actually.” He replied, “All you have to do is let Twilight get her crown back so that she can go back to Equestria. That’s all. However, if you do go through with your plan; which secretly I’m hoping you do; you’ll have to suffer the consequences.”
“A-And they are?”
“Oh you know. Having your arms and legs crushed into dust, tortured, that one method where you put a cloth over someone’s face and pour endless amounts of water over their face to simulate drowning, I think it’s called waterboarding, and things like that.” Noticing that he had almost scared her lifeless he told her, “If you haven’t realized it yet, that last part was a joke. Far be it an extreme one but a joke none the less, or was it? Oh and by the way, no I’m not him back from the dead or anything like that. I’m from Equestria just like Twilight. Well technically, I’m from a human world fairly similar to this one but also extremely different. And no, I’m not a pony in that world, I’m human in both this world and that world. Why you ask? Hell if I know. I stopped caring a few months after I arrived there. Now with that out of the way, see you at the formal. Ta-ta. Hasta la vista, baby.” He then left to join the girls to get ready.
The girls accompanied by Chaos returned to the boutique to get themselves ready for the Formal later that evening while Chaos went to a nearby tuxedo rental store to receive his order. The girls changed into fancier shoes, dresses and put on jewelry almost reminiscent of their Cutie Marks. Moments later, Chaos entered the boutique wearing an all-black suit with white shirt and black bow-tie and black shinny shoes.
“The name is Death, Chaos Death.” Chaos said trying to do his James Bond impersonation.
Later, they all arrived at the school in a limousine. Inside the auditorium, the girls and the rest of the attendees except for Chaos danced to Flash Sentry and his band's live performance. Twilight noticed Sunset Shimmer was nowhere to be seen and asked Rainbow Dash about it, to which Rainbow replied that she wasn’t there because she most likely knew Twilight won the Fall Formal crown. After the band finishes their song, Principals Celestia and Luna walked on stage to announce the Princess of the Fall Formal. After some words of praise to the students for their hard work, Principal Celestia announces the winner who without a doubt was Twilight Sparkle.
As Principal Celestia congratulated Twilight and placed the Fall Formal crown on her head, Snips and Snails snuck into the auditorium through a back door knocked Chaos out and kidnapped Spike. Spike screams out for Twilight, and she ran out after the duo, followed quickly by her friends. Snips and Snails took Spike into the school courtyard near the statue, where Sunset Shimmer was waiting and brandishing a sledgehammer ready to destroy the portal back to Equestria.
“That's close enough!” Sunset Shimmer yelled.
“Don't hurt him!” Twilight begged. “Oh, I wouldn't dream of it.” She replied, “I'm not a monster, Twilight. Snips, Snails let him go. You don't belong here Twilight. Give me the crown, and you can go back to Equestria tonight. Or keep it and never go home. Tick-tock, Twilight. We haven't got all night. The portal will be closing on its own in less than an hour. So, what's your answer?”
“No.” Twilight said firmly. What!? Equestria! Your friends! Lost to you forever! Don't you see what I'm about to do to the portal?!” Sunset asked confused.
“Or how about you let us go back to Equestria and I don’t hurt you!” Chaos exclaimed, “You choose.”
“I got this Chaos.” Twilight replied.
“Alrighty then.” He responded.
“I've seen what you've been able to do here without magic. Equestria will find a way to survive without my Element of Harmony. This place might not, if I allow it to fall into your hands. So go ahead. Destroy the portal. You are not getting this crown!”
“Also,” Chaos interrupted, “and I don’t mean to interrupt, I can easily take that hammer away from you if I wanted. But I’m letting you choose. You can let me and her pass or you can get seriously hurt. Besides, if one of us were to return, then Equestria has somewhat more of a chance to survive at least.”
“Fine… You win.” Sunset said in defeat as she dropped the sledgehammer. The girls immediately surround them and commend them on their selflessness.
Overwhelmed by hearing the flurry of kind words directed towards Twilight and Chaos, Sunset lost her temper and charged at Twilight, tackling her and knocking the crown off her head. Over the next few minutes, the crown kept trading hand until Twilight, in a moment of absentmindedness, accidentally tossed her crown into to Sunset’s hands.
“Well great Twilight!” Chaos yelled sarcastically, “You done fucked up now.”
Without wasting any time, Sunset Shimmer immediately placed the crown on her head thus a magical aura surrounded her and lifted her up into the air. Everyone watched in horror as Sunset became surrounded by a dark aura and transformed into a demonic creature, with red skin, fiery hair, wings, and a tail. “
Does anyone else think that she looks kinda stupid?!” Chaos asked loudly, “No?! Guess it’s just me.” “
Spoiler alert: I was bluffing when I said I was going to destroy the portal.”Sunset explanined, “I don't want to rule this pathetic little high school; I want Equestria! And with my own little teenage army behind me, I am going to get it!”
“No, you're not!” Twilight shouted.
“And over my dead body!” Chaos exclaimed, “Apparently for the second time!”
“Oh, please! What exactly do you two think you're going to do to stop me? I have magic, and you have nothing!”
“They have us!” Rainbow Dash exclaimed.
“Step aside!” Sunset screamed, “Twilight has tried to interfere with my plans one too many times already! She needs to be dealt with.” She then hurled a fireball at Twilight to take her out. However, just before the spell hit, Twilight's friends huddle around her and Chaos stood in front of them so that he would take most if not all of the damage. Sunset cackles at her apparent victory but became shocked to find her attack had no effect. A pink force field surrounded Twilight and her friends protecting them while Chaos absorbed with his hands Sunset's attack.
“What!?” She screamed baffled, “How is that possible?!”
“Easy.” Chaos replied, “I’m impervious to magic however I can absorb it as well as any other forms of energy. And yet I’m part of the elements of harmony. The element of Will if you must know.”
“The magic contained in my Element was able to unite with those that helped create it! Honesty! Kindness! Laughter! Generosity! Loyalty! Will! Magic! Together with a crown, they create a power beyond anything you could imagine, but it is a power you don't have the ability to control! The crown may be upon your head, Sunset Shimmer, but you cannot wield it, because you do not possess the most powerful magic of all: the magic of friendship!” An aura from the crown engulfed Twilight and her friends in light, linking each of them to their Element of Harmony and giving them pony-like ears, wings, and hair extensions resembling tails; except for Chaos, who got an identical looking armor like the one from Equestria with his Cutie Mark on the chest plate.
However, before the girls could unleash their full power, Sunset Shimmer hurled another fireball at the girls knocking Rainbow Dash and Applejack away from the group. Realizing that his friends needed more time, Chaos flew straight towards Sunset and began fighting her. Both Sunset and Chaos threw punches and kicks at each other with all their might. Having little to no knowledge on hand to hand combat, Sunset became overwhelmed by Chaos’ superior martial arts. Without breaking a sweat, he managed to get her pinned and urged for Twilight to proceed. Hesitating at first, Twilight eventually got all the girls together causing the magic surrounding them to explode, causing a double-helical rainbow to shoot out.
Nevertheless, Chaos had a strange feeling that caused him to let go of Sunset and put himself right in front of the rainbow thus absorbing it and unleashing it out as a far more powerful blast that engulfed Sunset Shimmer in a rainbow-colored tornado that stripped her of her power and released the students of her mind control. To make sure that she was down for sure, Chaos managed to see through the bright light, grab Sunset by her throat, and slammed her towards the ground creating a giant crater. As the bright light dissipated, the students congregated at the front of the school.
Spike ran out to Twilight, who was lying on the ground with her friends. Twilight picked him up and hugs him while her friends approach her. The seven of them notice a large crater in the ground, with Sunset Shimmer, who had returned to normal, lying at the bottom of it, and Chaos standing at the very edge of the crater.
“Did you do that?” She asked him.
“A necessary precaution.” He replied.
“What happened to your armor?” She asked puzzled noticing most of the chest plate bearing nasty dents on it.
“She may not know martial arts but she sure can punch. I’ll give her that.” He responded.
“You will never rule in Equestria.” Twilight told Sunset, “Any power you may have had in this world is gone. Tonight, you've shown everyone who you really are. You've shown them what is in your heart.”
“I-I'm sorry. I'm so sorry. I didn't know there was another way.” Sunset replied crying.
“The magic of friendship doesn't just exist in Equestria. It's everywhere. You can seek it out, or you can forever be alone. The choice is yours.”
“But... But all I've ever done since being here is drive everyone apart. I don't know the first thing about friendship.”
“Unfortunately it’s too late for you Sunset Shimmer. I have to bring you back to Equestria to pay for you crimes done here and in Equestria.”
“Hold on Twilight.” Chaos interrupted, “Once you and Spike had already passed through the portal, Celestia told me to help you get your crown back and stop her by any means necessary and bring her back if possible, however, she did say it wasn’t necessary if we thought she would be off better here than in Equestria. It’s not because she deserves it but because it’s the right thing to do. I want to give her a chance so that if she falls back to her old ways she doesn’t have any excuse whatsoever. What do you say?”
“Please! Please!” Sunset begged, “Let me stay! I swear I’ll change!”
“Fine.”, Twilight replied, “So be it.”
“Just know Sunset Shimmer that if you go back to your evil ways there will be no one else to blame but yourself.” Chaos told her.
“But I don't know the first thing about friendship.” She responded, “Who do I go to, to find out?”
“I bet they can teach you.” Twilight said directing Sunset’s attention to her friends.
“I believe this belongs to you.” Principla Celestia remarked, “A true princess in any world leads not by forcing others to bow before her, but by inspiring others to stand with her. We have all seen that you are capable of just that. I hope you see it too, Princess Twilight. Now as for you Chaos, we’re going to have a little talk later about your little stunt.”
“Now I know what you’re thinking principal,” Chaos interrupted, “but no, the Chaos from here and me are different people. Granted we are similar in some ways but I am not him. I’m with Twilight and also from her world. Technically. I would explain everything but we’d be here for a while. Besides does thou not see this awesome armor apparently made of pure magic? Or at least that is what they told me. And not only that, as far as I or anyone here know the Chaos from this world didn’t have any abilities and I do.”
“What do you mean?” Vice Principal Luna asked curiously, “By abilities you mean magic?”
“Not really. What I mean by that is abilities like telekinesis, psychic, limb regeneration, or even super strength. I have those abilities but magic seems to have no effect on me.”
“So how were you able to help Twilight if magic doesn’t affect you?” Principal Celestia asked.
“The blast that I absorbed was essentially made of energy.” He explained, “And since I absorb energy that is exactly what I did. Furthermore, I also have the ability to unleash a similar blast that is far more powerful than the original.”
After a while of explaining and some arguing, Chaos convinced the Principal and Vice Principal that he was not from that world. By that time, Twilight had already danced a one or two songs with Flash Sentry. One of the girls’ managed to bring him with the rest of the gang to take a group photo. After the photo, Chaos urged Twilight that they should leave as they only had about half an hour left before the portal closed. He also mentioned that he had to pick up a few things before they left. By the time Twilight hugged her friends good-bye just outside the school near the portal, Chaos arrived flying above directing three trucks that arrived with lots of equipment. “
Chaos, What’s all this?” Twilight asked very surprised.
“These are some essentials that are going to benefit me as I continue to live in Equestria. I want to study this futuristic advance technology so that I can utilize it to make work there easier if possible.”
“Advanced!?” Rarity exclaimed confused, “But this is simply just regular technology dear. Nothing advanced or futuristic about it.”
“You do know that I was born in 1965 and I ended up in that other world around 1985, or did I forget to mention that?”
“Wait, What?!” Pinkie Pie and the rest of the girls shouted.
“To put that into perspective: The current form of the computer before I left was the 1984 Macintosh 128K. And no I’m not talking about your brother Apple jack. Very few people had it since it was so expensive at the time. Do you now see why this would seem futuristic to me? However, I have learned a thing or two about your technology while our two day stay here. But I want to learn more. So that’s why I found all this tech lying around a nearby junkyard or scrap yard, whatever you call it. True, it might not the current or newest forms of today’s technology but it will have to do.”
“So let me get this straight, you were born in 1965 and disappeared from your world in 1985?” Rainbow inquired.
“So, then that would make you…” Applejack replied.
“Correct. Basically If I had aged like any other human I would be around my late 40’s or early 50’s. This should be more than enough proof that I am not the same Chaos who died in this world a few years ago. Now if you’ll excuse me, I have three trucks filled to the brim with equipment and stuff I need.”
Chaos then quickly began pushing off his things into the portal. The first two trucks were filled with computer monitors, pc’s, keyboards, phones, Geiger counters, VHS, DVD players, old/broken gaming consoles, chipped/ broken combat knives, etc. And last one was filled with books that showed how to repair certain objects he had gathered, how to learn a certain type of martial art, and the others were mostly encyclopedia’s from his year to the current year or scientific books that tried to explain many theories/hypothesis of a wide variety, recently or already found since his absence.
As he nearly finished, Twilight hugged her friends one last time.
“You'll look out for her, won't you?” She asked them.
“Of course we will.” Rarity replied, “Although I do expect some sort of apology for last spring's debacle.”
“I have a feeling she'll be handing out a lot of apologies.” Twilight replied.
“Nah.” Chaos said jokingly from afar, “She only has to apologize at least a hundred thousand times. No biggie."
"We better get going.” Spike told Twilight. “I know we've only been friends for a short time, but I'm gonna miss all of you so much.” Twilight said to her friends just before entering the portal.
Once Twilight and Spike walked through Chaos stopped to say one more thing, “Hey Sunet Shimmer! Yippie ki yay motherf…” Something pulled Chaos into the portal before he could finish his sentence. Seconds later, the moon rose to its peak to cover over the center star and with a flash of moonlight, the portal closed behind him, causing Twilight's friends to lose their pony ears, wings, and added hair.
Pinkie Pie attempted to follow Chaos, Twilight, and Spike through the portal, only to smack into a solid surface.
“Oh, bummer!” She exclaimed.
Back in Equestria, Chaos and Twilight's friends and the princesses were waiting patiently for their return. Twilight emerged through the portal, teetering on her hind legs as she once again became a quadruped, and dropped down to all four hooves. Shortly after, Spike came through the portal. Seconds later, Chaos emerged yelling, “Lucy, I’m home!” Their friends run up to greet them, congratulating them on their return and the retrieval of Twilight’s crown.
“Oye, where’s my stuff that I brought from the other side?!”
“Oh that junk?” Apple Jack replied, “We moved it to another room. We figured that was your doing.”
“And you guessed correctly.” Chaos said with a slight accent, “Don’t get me wrong, I like being here and all. But sometime I have to indulge myself every once in while with things humans would usually do. Like reading that book about the wonders and aspirations of modern day Physics or how space exploration has advanced since 1985.”
As the girls and Chaos walked through the castle, they began bombarding them with questions about the other world. And once again, without watching where she was going, Twilight bumped into the same royal guard she had done on the day of her arrival.
"We've got to stop bumping into each other like this.” The guard replied as he walked away.
“And that is the last we shall ever see you again.” Chaos said jokingly.
Twilight's friends immediately picked up that Twilight may have a crush on him and playfully teased her about.
“Don't be ridiculous.” Twilight remarked, “I don't even know him. He just...”
“Totally reminds you of a guy you met in the other world who played guitar, was in a band, and helped prove you didn't destroy all the decorations for a big dance, so you could still run for princess of the big dance, and then asked you to dance at that dance?! Right?” Pinkie Pie said after taking in a deep breathe.
“How did you know that?” Twilight asked extremely surprised. “Just a hunch.” Pinkie replied with a smile.
“You know if I wasn’t used to your antics Pinkie Pie and that fact that this situation already happened once already. I would say that you getting everything correct down to the smallest detail is utterly and eerily creepy. But you know that I wouldn’t say that.” Chaos responded sarcastically.
