Memoirs of a Immortal

The following accounting is the first anypony has ever done on my father. The subject in question is Vatore Greymoon. It has been proven that he is the oldest living being on Equis and the last of his kind. Mother felt it was time for him to tell his story, before they retire from ruling Equestria.

My life changed on July 2nd, 2016. I worked on a farm, so being by myself wasn't unusual. So come quitting time I parked the tractor and head home. As I was going along I noticed no traffic on the highway. Now that is usual because I was on a major U.S. highway. I tried calling my wife, but I got nothing. When I made it to town I was in shock. Vehicles where parked haphazardly all over the place. "What the hell" I though. This is getting creepy. Driving through town I decided to head to Wal-Mart. I walked in and it was empty. "What the fuck is going on" I said out loud.

"Ah. It seems I missed one" came a voice over the intercom.

"What is going on? Who the hell are you?"

"I am humanity's sins and they have caught up with the human race."

"Who are you? God?"

"No, I am not God. Not that one anyway. Hmmm, welp I can say you are a lucky one. You will get to become immortal. I want you to watch the rise of new races. This isn't your planet anymore. So toodles for now. I'll be back in a few thousand years."

I was stunned. My world is gone? My family, friends, they are all gone? I finally collapsed knowing that I was alone. When I woke up the next morning I made a vow. I would find the bastard and kill him for what he had done. I had plenty of time to look.

For two weeks I gathered up what I would need to survive. When I was done I took a map and tried to find a good place to settle in and watch time pass. When I looked at the western half of the country I was drawn that way. The Rockies, perfect. With my destination decided I left the next morning. As I traveled, I started to notice man made objects disappear. I settled on a small town in southern Montana. When I got there I found a good spot, built me a cabin, then kicked back and watched the years pass.

Nothin much happened for the next three thousand years or so, other than watching the landscape change. One day while I was out hunting, I noticed a group of animals in the distance. For the next four days I watched as they got closer. When they was a half day out I decided to go and find out what they was. What I found surprised the hell out of me. They was ponies, but not just any ponies. There was unicorns, pegasi I would guess and some that looked like a normal pony. Well I have some new neighbours I guess. They must have liked the area because they started setting up shop on a mountain, about ten miles from me. I wasn't worried about being found so I gave them a few years to settle before I got real curious.

After fifty years of waiting I started snooping around their town. They called it Canterlot. I found out that they could speak, they was just as intelligent as me and they had a civilization going. About one hundred years later I overheard one of the big wigs say something about crowning two alicorns as their princesses. Never heard of a alicorn I thought to myself. Must be a big deal if they want them to rule. I soon put the news out of my mind till two weeks later when I found out what a alicorn was.

I was going home from another day of snooping, when two large ponies landed in front of me. The first thing I noted was that both had wings and horns. I wonder if these two are the alicorns the others have been talking about? As I was studying them they was trying to do the same to me, but I had my cloak on and was glad I did. The bigger one was a pure white with a pink mane and tail. I'm 6'3" so her eye level was even with my shoulders. The other was a deep blue with a light blue mane and tail. She was a bit smaller, maybe mid chest on me. Deciding to head off any hostilities I spoke first.

"Okay, look ladies. I don't want any trouble. I just want to get home before dark."

"We have seen you sneaking around. Who and what are you" the white one asked.

Sighing, I rubbed my hands over my face and took off the cloak. "My name is Vatore and I'm human."

"That's impossible. Humans disappeared over three thousand years ago" The blue one replied.

"Bullshit" I retorted. "My race didn't disappear. They was wiped out. I'm the last human in existence."

"How is that possible. We know from the little knowledge we have that your race wasn't immortal."

"True, but the bastard that did the deed made me immortal for his sick pleasure. I've been alone since then."

"How are you not insane" the blue one asked.

"It wasn't easy" I said with a rueful smile. "I dedicated myself to learning different skills and planning on how to get my revenge. That is a great motivator."

"Violence will only beget more violence, Vatore" the tell one said.

"True, but I believe I have every right. That.... monster took everything from me. My wife, kids, family and friends. Not to mention my world. It gave me this curse I have now. I've tried to end my life, but I nothing worked."

"Immortality is only a curse of you have nopony to share it with."

"I don't have anyone to share it with. I've been alone since that day."

"You no longer have to be alone if you wish it. Sister and I are immortal as well.  You have the two of us as friends if you wish it. I am Luna and my sister is Celestia."

I stood there stunned. They was offering me something I haven't had in a very long time.

"You would offer your friendship to someone you don't even know really?"

"Yes" Celestia said nodding her head. "Neither of us likes to see somepony suffer. You have been alone for far too long. We would gladly be your friends if it makes your life better."

I stood there in shock from what the sisters was offering me. I wouldn't be alone anylonger I though.

"I believe we broke him sister" Luna said giggling.

"I....I would like that. I'm miss talking to others. Its boring carrying on a conversation with myself." I looked at the sky for a moment. "It's getting dark, so I need to head home. The real nasties come out at night. If either of you need me, I live five miles that way" I said pointing "right in the edge of the forest."

"It was a pleasure to meet you Vatore. I hope we can talk again."

"It was a pleasure for me as well Celestia. I will see the two of you later." When I finished they bowed their heads to me and took off. I hope this works out I mused to myself. I'm so tired of being alone.
