Memoirs of a Immortal

It was a couple of weeks before I spoke to the girls again. When I did I was speechless. I was doing maintenance on my cabin, when I heard flapping. Stopping my work I walked around to the front. The sight I witnessed was shocking. Celestia and Luna was standing there, but they had changed. Both had gotten bigger and it it was possible, they where more beautiful. Celestia could now look me straight in the eyes. Her mane and tail was now multi colored and seemed to move on its own. Luna's mane and tail had turned into the night sky, with a life of its own as well.

"You two have to be the most beautiful beings I have ever seen" I said without thinking. Both blushed heavily from my words and was pawing the ground.

"Well, how do you like being princesses?"

"It's different" Luna said.

"That it is" agreed Celestia.

"I guess I have to start addressing both of you as befitting your stations" while bowing to them.

"Anypony else that's true, but for you. You are our friend. That makes a difference to us." Celestia walked to me and putting a hoof under my chin, gently pulled me up. "You never have to bow to us Vatore."

"If that is your wish girls, then I won't argue with you."

"Good. Now there is something we would ask of you."

"And what would that be Luna?"

"We would like you to come live at the castle with us. You have been alone for long enough."

I was shocked needless to say. They want me to come and live with them?

"Why? We barely know each other. This is only the second meeting between us."

"You are lonely, have a kind heart and treat us as equals. We don't want to see a kind soul suffer as you have" answered Celestia.

"Are you both sure? I...what will the others think? I don't want you two getting hassled over this. I don't want to be a burden."

"You will not be a burden. If you want, we can come up with a position for you" countered Luna.

"I have been out here to keep to myself. I didn't want to cause a panic with everyone around. Do you believe this will work?"

"Yes it will. Only those that need to know, will be told. We can gradually integrate you into society."

"Alright, if that's what the two of you want." The smiles I got from them warmed my old heart. "Ok then. What is it I will be doing for you."

"Royal advisor and personal guard to both of us." I raised a eyebrow.

"You had this planned out didn't you?" The sheepish grins I got back told me the story. "Ok girls I'll accept on two conditions. First, we hide nothing from each other and two, you don't use your titles against me. Those are main two. Anything else can be worked out later. Is that agreeable to you?" The sisters looked at each other for a moment. Luna spoke first.

"Welcome home Vatore."

After the shock of my introduction, I got right to work. My first order of business was establishing a way for us to defend ourselves. So, I started up three branches of guards. The first was the Royal wing. It's responsible for the defence of the kingdom and the citizens. The next two wings was the Solar and Lunar wings. Of course they was specifically for the princesses themselves. The Royal unit was the larger of course, because of its mission.

As the years passed, I implemented more ideas that the sisters liked. One of them was to explore the forest I lived near. It has been nearly a century since I came to live at the castle and the forest had gone wild in that time. It never had a name till a unicorn friend of ours named it. He called it the Everfree.

Thirty years after the project started one of the ponies on the mapping team burst into the throne room during court. After he got his breathing under control, he told us that a cavern had been found with a strange tree in it. The meeting that followed was intense. The sisters decided to send our most knowledgeable mage at the time to study the find. His name was Starswirl the Bearded.

Six months after he left, Starswirl returned and gave his report. He called the find The Tree of Harmony. It's magical power was so great, he suggested that we build a castle on the site. After some tense discussions, the sisters okay the project. For ten years, Starswirl was the overseer for the construction of the new casle. When it was done we moved the capital to the Everfree castle as called. For almost a century and a half, we was in that castle. Then the day I had waited for came.

I woke up, got dressed and went to join Tia and LuLu for breakfast. We was enjoying the morning when the captain of the Royal guard trotted in.

"Mornin Needle, what's up?"

"Tor, we are getting reports of strange weather from all over Equestria."

"What do you mean strange?"

"Pink clouds raining chocolate milk."

"Are you fucking with me Needle?"

"No I'm not Tor. There are too many reports." I looked over at Tia and LuLu.

"How long has this been going on" asked Luna.

"At least a week Princess." I looked over to the nearest guard.

"Go and get me Gust and Knight." The guard saluted and galloped off to retrieve the Captains.

When they showed up ten minutes later I started issuing orders. When I was done we headed to the throne room to start our day. Three hours later a explosion rocked the castle.

"What the hell was that?"

"I'll go and find out, Sir."  Right about the time the guard reached the doors, they blew inwards taking out the guard and knocking me down.

"Ah, Princesses. I've been looking for you. I have come to talk to you about a change in management."  It was him. The bastard that destroyed my world was now in front of me.

"Who are you" Celestia asked.

"You can call me....Discord."
