The Phoenix's Guardian
Chapter 19
Previous ChapterNext ChapterThe two brothers stared at me.
“You know who we are?” Dean asked, tensed for a fight.
“Relax. I ain’t a demon.” I said as I sat down on a chair. “Just someone from an alternate reality that knows a pretty good deal of what has happened to you and what will happen, to an extent.”
“What do you mean?” Sam asked curiously.
“Somethings are set in stone, fix points in time if you will. Others are more flexible and can be changed. However, I will be keeping that information to myself.” I replied.
“Why? If your information can save lives…” Dean started before I glared at him.
“Made any deals lately Dean?” I asked.
Both of the brothers jerked back as if I had slapped them.
“I did. I had to save Sam.” Dean replied quietly.
“How much longer you got?” I asked.
“About six months.” He replied.
I sighed. “Well, this is one of those fixed points I was talking about.” I said. “You going to Hell has to happen, one way or another. I myself don’t want to get caught in the crossfire between Heaven and Hell trying to save your dumbass.” I finished flatly.
“Heaven and Hell?” Sam asked.
“Yup. Both sides want to finish the war. Michael wants to kill Lucifer and Lucifer wants to kill Michael.” I said.
“Oh.” He said.
“Both sides also want control of Earth. So long as the two of you can keep saying no, then their plans can be stopped.” I replied. “That is the limit of my advice on the matter.”
“So, where are you girls from?” Sam asked, changing the subject.
“Canterlot City.” Sunset replied.
Both brothers tensed.
“Seriously?” Dean said, his voice strained.
“Yeah, why?” I asked, sharing a look with the girls.
“About ten years ago, a couple of hunters went to Canterlot City and were dragged into the Roadhouse a few days later by two sisters, beat to hell. We were warned to stay the hell away from the city and that it was their turf.” Dean said. “Since then hunters have given the place a wide berth.”
I raised an eyebrow and pulled out my phone. Bringing up a picture, I showed it to them.
“Is this them?” I asked.
The pair nodded.
“Well isn’t this interesting?” I said with a smirk.
Sunset and Twilight looked over my shoulders to see what picture I had pulled up.
It was from our trip to Camp Everfree of Celestia and Luna.
“You know, I find something odd.” I mused out loud.
“What is that Darling?” Rarity asked.
“That neither one of them have commented on our skin tones or hair.” I replied.
“What are you talking about?” Sam asked. “All I see is a black girl.” He said pointing to Rarity. “An Asian girl.” Pointing to Rainbow Dash. “And varying shades of white from pale to tanned. The hair color is odd, but plenty of teenagers dye their hair.”
We all stared at them.
“What kind of dog is Spike here?” I asked, picking up said dog, causing him to grumble under his breath.
“A Jack Russell.” Dean replied.
I blinked.
“Huh. That is interesting.” I said.
“Do you think it has something to do with the portal?” Sunset asked.
“Probably. Might be something like a Notice-Me-Not or a Somebody Else’s Problem field. Keeps things like our varied skin tones from being noticed.” I said, scratching Spike behind the ears.
“What are you talking about?” Dean asked, getting frustrated.
“Well, Canterlot is home to a very odd selection of skin tones and natural hair colors that any cosplayer would kill for.” I said. “For example, I have the most ‘natural’ skin tone, but that is a permanent tan. The others, well, we have pink, butter yellow, orange, sky blue, white, purple, and yellow.” I said pointing to each of the girls and saying their skin tone in turn. “The hair colors you see are completely natural.”
The brothers were dumbstruck.
“But how?” Sam asked.
“Canterlot is home to a portal that leads to a mirror dimension. Pretty much everyone in the city has a counterpart there.” I said. “The two sisters who showed up at the Roadhouse are the counterparts of two immortal, well goddesses are the only things that I can call them. Due to a quirk of the solar system, they control the planet’s day/night cycle. It is actually pretty impressive to see.”
The two hunters were dumbfounded at this.
I shrugged. “You get used to the insanity.” I said.
After about another hour of talking, the brothers got ready to leave. Before they did, I pulled Sam aside.
“Here, take this.” I said, handing him a slip of paper with my phone number on it.
Sam took it with a look of confusion. “Thanks, but why?” He asked.
I sighed. “There are some things that I can probably change with minimal interference from the Host, and what is supposed to happen after your brother goes to Hell is something that I want to see if I can get away with. When it happens, I want you to call me when you need to. You can even come and visit.” I said with a sad smile. “I will talk with the sisters and get them to give you a pass to not get the snot beaten out of you.”
Sam snorted with amusement. “I’ll do that. Thank you. But I have to ask, why?”
I looked towards where Dean was standing by the Impala, and let out another sigh.
“As I said, I know a bit about what you guys have done and what you have been through and WILL go through due to you being a fixture of popular culture before I was sent to this world. Some was good, some was bad, there was a lot of pain and heartache, but as long as the two of you had each other, you were able to pull through and even stopped the Apocalypse a couple of times.” I replied. “I also know from experience that constantly being in the shit like you two are with minimal time to just decompress and deal with the bad shit, it can cause problems.” I said as I subconsciously rubbed my hip, one of the places that had caused me the most pain after I was injured.
“Do you mind if I give your number to Dean as well? He might be able to talk to you about somethings that he won’t or can’t with me.” Sam asked nervously.
“Yeah, and give it to Mr. Singer as well. Let him know that I would like to pick his brain on a few subjects.” I replied with a smile.
Sam chuckled a little and nodded before heading to the car.
I watch the black car drive off until it disappeared before heading inside.
“So, new friends?” Pinkie asked with a smile.
I nodded. “At least in Sam. Dean, we will see. But most of all, we have warning that we will probably have to deal with things other than Equestrian magic leaking through. That gives us a chance to be prepared.” I replied.
“Prepared how?” Sunset asked.
“First off, since I honestly have no idea if you being the bearers of the Elements in this world will protect you, I want all of you to get a tattoo.” I said before the inevitable outbursts.
“WHAT?” “COOL!” “NEATO!”
I raised my hand and waited for the girls to calm down.
“The tattoo is an anti-possession sigil. It has to be placed on the left side of your chest, over your heart to work. This will provide protection from demons taking you over just incase one tries it even with your Elemental magic. If your magic protects you, then think of it as extra insurance. There are going to be some big bads coming out of the pit and none of them will spare a second thought about hurting you. I will also be seeing about getting some extra insurance from someone else. I might just be able to leverage a couple of favors out of him if I can get him to listen.” I replied as I sat down. “Though Pinkie, you might be able to help me with that.”
“How so?” The persistently smiling girl asked.
“Because, you invoke his name on a semi regular basis.” I replied with a smirk.
“I do?” Pinkie asked, scrunching her face as she thought. Then the lightbulb went of, and her face lit up. “He exists?!?”
I nodded with a wide smile. “He does. A bit of a horn dog and and one hell of a prankster, but I think he might be willing to help a devoted follower.”
“Okay, who are you talking about?” Twilight asked.
“The God of Fire, Blood Brother to the Allfather himself, Loki of Jotunheim.” I replied.
