A Dream of Change
Aria's Preparations
Previous ChapterNext ChapterThe following morning Aria was slow to get up. She shielded her eyes from the morning sun but something felt different in her that morning. Normally she was just slow to get up because she hated mornings but now it was something else. She was embarrassed over Adagio catching her in her dream and was worried that she told Sonata about it. Finally she got up the courage to head down to the kitchen to fix her breakfast and was greeted by her sisters.
Sonata asked, "Are you ok Aria? You're usually never late for breakfast!"
Adagio, with a sly smile on her face asked, "So Aria, sleep well?"
Aria replied, "I'm ok and I slept fine."
Adagio chuckled, "Uh-huh."
While dealing with Adagio was fine, it was hard for Aria to look Sonata in the eyes. After that dream she felt embarrassed but also she felt something else, she felt love. She felt a different kind of love for her sister and she just couldn't let her know that. She knew such things between blood relatives was frowned upon. Even back in Equestria among the sirens, where things were much more relaxed, a romantic relationship between sisters was unheard of. With cousins it was ok, but with sisters, not so much.
Sonata kept on trying to get Aria to look at her, "Aria, are you alright? Why aren't you looking up?"
Adagio laughed, "I'm not sure but you might be responsible!"
Sonata gasped, "What, how could I be responsible!"
Aria replied, "You're not Sonata, Dagi is just being her smart ass self." She realized that at that time that she simply couldn't be in the house. She continued, "I've gotta get out for a while. I'll talk to you two later."
Aria left and realized that she just couldn't live like that. She just couldn't constantly have her head down, she couldn't just not give Sonata the attention she deserved and she certainly can't continue to live in fear that Adagio would tell Sonata about how she woke her up the night before.
As she continued walking she did some deep thinking and realized that she did love Sonata, in a way that a sister should not. She knew that while such things are universally frowned upon, that she had to tell her and get that weight off her chest. She realized that even if Sonata didn't feel the same way or if it made her hate her, that that would be preferable to having to keep a secret that was already draining her. She decided that she would tell Sonata about this when she got home, but she wanted it to be special in the event Sonata felt the same way.
She began to wonder what would make this special. While Adagio wore night gowns on a regular basis, both her and Sonata wore two piece pajamas. She thought to herself, "What would make this special? What would make it say, "I love you Sonata." Then it hit her, get her something that would make it seem like they are joined in one way or another. She knew that her and Sonata wore pretty much the same size of undergarments and clothes and that gave her an idea.
She went to a clothing store and decided that perhaps somewhat matching undergarments and night gowns would be a wonderful way of saying, "I love you, I want us to be one." She thought that if she was to buy Sonata a night gown and undergarments that were the same color as her skin and if she got ones for herself that were the same color as Sonata's, that it would be a way of saying, "I want us to be one."
She felt a bit nervous as she was buying the items and felt equally nervous when she had the sets of items put in boxes. After she was finished there she headed to a local florist where she would not only get a rose for Sonata, but a card that would say, "I love you." That did not take long and Aria decided to make one final stop to get Sonata something she would truly love, she decided to stop at Taco Shack.
This was one place that she was fairly familiar with since the three of them frequented the place for Sonata. The clerk saw Aria and asked, "Where is Sonata?"
Aria replied, "She is at home."
Aria decided to order a twelve pack of tacos, which was quite a bit for just one person. She asked, "Aria, I take it you are really hungry today?"
Aria replied, "Well half of these are for Sonata so not overly."
The clerk asked, "What about Adagio, doesn't she get any?"
Aria blushed, "No. Sonata and I are going to have some time together alone, just the two of us."
The clerk gave Aria an odd look and asked, "Why did you blush when you mentioned you two having alone time?"
Aria replied, "I didn't blush, I'm just looking forward to spending time with Sonata."
The clerk replied, "Oh, I must have been seeing things, I could have swore your face turned......"
Aria paid for her tacos and interrupted, "Nope, I wasn't blushing. You have a good day."
Aria left the store and the clerk was shocked that she would simply bolt like that. While she didn't think anything bad, it just seemed odd that Aria, who is usually talkative with her, would bolt so quickly like that.
Aria finally saw their house and began to become nervous. She broke into a nervous sweat and said to herself, "Ok Aria, you've came too far to not do this. You bought the clothes, you bought the rose, you bought the card and you bought the tacos." She got to the doorstep and continued, "Well here goes nothing."
