I woke up with the soft beeping from my alarm, my peaceful slumber washed away by the warmth of the sun. At the back of my mind, a digital clock showed 6:30 AM, blinking with blood red colors. I don’t like that color. With a simple thought, the color changed to a soft yellow. Much better.
I opened my eyes, my room was completely dark save for the dim, purple light coming from my augmented eyes.
“Open blinds,” I commanded. The blinds receded on its rails, letting the sunshine into my room. The rising sun bathed the already busy Canterlot with a gentle glow, My mentor must be in a good mood today.
“Initialize morning routine.” With new instructions received, the Auto-Home system went to work. My room slowly lit up with holographic screens showing the news, weather schedules, e-mails and other stuff. Reading through them I got out of bed and went to the bathroom, a low dripping water sound coming from it
Opening the bathroom door, all the holographic screens shutdown to allow me some privacy. Looks like the new security code is working properly I thought. I went to the sink and inspected myself in front of the mirror. I could see my purple magic shimmering through my magi-flow lines, scars left over that runs from my cutie mark, the source of its power, to my cybernetically augmented eyes, horn, and spine. Note to self: Find a way to install augmentations without the need of magi-flow lines. I recorded on my rig, the core processing unit that connects my augments to my brain.
On my right, a bathtub filled with warm water called my name, I entered the tub, slowly soaking my dark gray coat and my black mane and tail, the magi-flow giving a purple reflection on the water. Diving completely underwater, my vision was quickly filled with hub icons, showing me my blood oxygen saturation and estimate time I could stay underwater without having any kind of problem. Emerging again I recorded another note, Note to self: Make sure that hub elements don’t obstruct peripheral vision. Also, the new design for the horn’s metallic casing works perfectly underwater, further testing required.
After a minute has passed, I got out of the tub and walked to a platform where two body dryers blew hot air on my body while small fur combs styled my hair, making me more presentable. Lastly, a black suit was waiting for me outside by the bathroom door, I put it on and went to the kitchen.
In the kitchen, ingredients were being levitated to the oven where a pre-heated frying pan was already preparing my breakfast, two apples were being sliced on the cooking slab and a glass of cold milk awaited me on top of the kitchen table.
Walking to the table, a small chair came out of the ground beneath me for me to sit on. I sipped the glass of milk while reading my schedule for the day when a small plate and utensils levitated to the table, my breakfast was ready. Lighting my horn, all my magi-flow lines lighted up with it, Note to self: Try to reduce the glow emitted by the magi-flow lines. Work was piling more and more so early in the morning…
After breakfast was finished everything was levitated to the sink and washed, I was about to leave the table when a warning ringed throw my hub, selecting it, My schedule jumped back to 7:00 AM. I have an appointment with Princess Celestia! Quickly checking if I was presentable enough, I had 5 secs to arrive at the throne room door. Focusing my magic, teleporting in three, two, one…
I was laying on a soft pillow on the floor, I was exhausted, panting and sweaty. Princess Celestia’s library was a mess of scattered books. This training session was a particularly rocky one. Princess Celestia was standing by my side, her horn still glowing with a golden aura.
“Organize books by alphabetic order and sector.” Commanded her majestic voice, a voice so sweet and carrying only a mother could compare. All the magi-flow lines that powered the new and improved library lighted up at her command, all the books scattered on the floor and even some that were on the shelves began to levitate into a line formation and circle around the library, finding their newly designated place.
“Your magic keeps getting stronger every day, dear Singularity. Maybe someday you can even beat Starswirl the bearded himself.” The princess praised me.
“Nonsense… your highness… even with my… tier three augmented horn… I’m not much stronger than … any non augmented unicorn... that attends your school… your highness.” I tried to reply, still grasping for air. My hub blinked feverishly, showing me my raised heartbeat rate and adrenaline levels, almost demanding me to rest.
Princess Celestia noticed my frown and asked worriedly, “Is everything alright my little pony?” She walked to a nearby intercom and called her butler. “Gustav, bring us a glass of water please?”
“Yes, your highness.” Came the voice of said Buttler through the intercom, When I installed all the magitek auto-home on the castle, the Princess insisted in keeping her staff, not only they were faithful employees, they were also her friends, but more importantly, they were Princess Luna’s friends.
“Yes, your highness, it’s just that I noticed that the hub provided by the augmented vision gets constantly spammed by warnings that can block your peripheral view in some cases, it’s just another thing that I need to work on…”
The princess nodded, relaxing that she knew I was fine. “I understand, your position as the creator of the magitek technology must be tiring, I’m glad you still have time to spend with me,” She smiled while helping me up.
“Of course Princess, I’m the one glad you have the time to help me between all your duties as co-ruler of Equestria!” I quickly replied, my work was nothing compared to hers and even so she still had the time to help me to better control my magic.
The princess smiled. "It's Always a pleasure to teach magic to such a dedicated student like yourself Singularity. It also gives me a great excuse to practice myself."
I grinned at that, why would a goddess like herself even need practice for? "I can only imagine what you would be capable of with a tier five military horn augmentation..."
Princess Celestia smiled, walking to a nearby balcony. She sat at the edge of the balcony, resting her head on its cold stone, observing the city below. "There's no denying how much delight and happiness your technology brought to my little ponies' lives. Call me outdated but... There are some things that I still prefer the old-fashioned way." The princess said with a small smile, her gaze still wandering on the city below.
From all the places on Equestria, Canterlot was the one that changed the most with the introduction of the Magitek technology. The sight of the old Canterlot was a treasured memory for the princess, a bittersweet memory.
"I-I understand..." I replied, sitting next to her.
Gustav had arrived with our water, I drank mine slowly while checking the rest of my schedule through my hub, I had fifteen seconds to arrive at the Magitek headquarters
“I’m sorry Princess Celestia, but I’m afraid my time is running out,” I announced while politely bowing.
“It’s ok, please come back at 10:00 PM if you can, my sister would like to speak with you.”
Five seconds. “Of course.” I bowed again. Two… one…
