Luna awoke, still in the realm of darkness with Sombra's consciousness. Everything that happened the previous night flooded back to her making her face red and hot. She looked at the king's sleeping face and nuzzled him.

"Wake up my king."

Sombra groaned, "What?"

"I must go soon."

"Then I will come find you, love."

"W-wha--?"

Luna was pushed out of his consciousness, terrified of what was to come.

As Luna was reflecting Celestia burst through the doors of her room.

"Sister, we have a matter of utmost importance to attend to." The white alicorn explained.

"What is it, sister?" Luna asked, hoping it was not what she thought.

"It's King Sombra. He has returned and is heading straight for Canterlot."

Princess Luna gasped, her suspicions confirmed, "How?"

"I'm not sure, but we have to evacuate the city, while I do that you must prepare our defenses, we beat him once, we can do it again."

Luna nodded and they both flew off to complete their respective task. Suddenly, a storm gathered, black clouds swirled and white lightning crackled. The princess's eyes widened in fear. A grey face with glowing red and green eyes poked out from the darkness of the storm clouds.

Sombra had arrived.

The intense, piercing gaze of the monarch landed on Princess Luna, almost making her cower. He couldn't be here. They were defenseless. As the former king's body fully emerged a quick white blur struck him, making him roar in anger and surprise. He slashed at Celestia with his horn wildly, striking her chest and inflicting a shallow wound on her neck. Blood trickled down her no longer pristine white coat.

"Sister, help! We must defeat him by working together!" Celestia called to Luna.

The dark blue princess merely stood frozen, her heart torn between the stallion she loved and her own sister. King Sombra threw Celestia to the wall of the castle, her wings doing nothing to slow her down.

"You are getting weak in your old age Celestia, maybe you should consider giving up your crown to a stronger ruler." Sombra smirked, "Or I could forcibly take it from you. Your choice."

As Sombra took a menacing step forward Luna jumped between him and her sister, lightning crackled not far away as Sombra smirked and Luna glared.

"Do not pick the wrong side, Luna."

Celestia struggled to get up and her sister turned to her.

"Are you ready to join me?" Sombra asked her.

"Yes." Came the simple answer, "I am, my King."

A toothy grin spread across his face, "Excellent."
