Dude, She's Getting a Pet Best Friend

Ilulu is seen opening up her locker and looking inside trying to see if she put the thing she needed is inside, then she smiles upon seeing it and reach to grab a long rectangle canvas that has a rough style painting like it was painted by claws instead of a paintbrush which exactly what it is.

"Yes, I knew I didn't forget something!" Ilulu smiled.

"Hey Ilulu, I got a new muffin flavor I was hoping you could try." Derpy held up a muffin to Ilulu.

"Cool, I would love to try it." Ilulu smiled as she took the cupcake and threw it in her mouth, chewing it to taste the flavor of the muffin.

"Wow, this tastes really good! You've out done yourself with that one, Derpy Hooves!" Ilulu smiled happily like her mind just went into yummy town by her taste buds.

"Thanks! I stayed up all night making that grape-strawberry-cherry flavor!" Derpy mentioned.

"All night? But doesn't that mean you'll be sleepy during the day?" Ilulu asked.

"Oh, that's nothing to worry about. I came to school and was able to get through all of my classes and nothing like that happened. So, I'm" Derpy suddenly slammed face-first into a locker door and snores from the exhaustion of sleep finally taking over her body.

"Looks like you're gonna rest up at the nurse's office." Ilulu said.

Ilulu carries Dery to the nurse's office where Nurse Redheart is sitting at her desk looking over some paperwork.

"Excuse me, I have a sleeping friend who just passed out for staying up all night." Ilulu reported.

"Oh dear, Derpy must've made a new muffin." Nurse Redheart figured out when she saw Derpy.

"Here, place her on the bed." Redheart pointed at one of the beds and Ilulu does so.

"Will she be okay?" Ilulu asked, looking a tiny bit worry for Derpy.

"Don't worry, dear. I'll give her a checkup and a stern talking about not getting enough sleep, so she'll be fine." Nurse Redheart promised.

Knowing that Derpy is in good hands, Ilulu leaves the Nurse's office because she has to get to art class to present her painting to the teacher while saying hello to a few students along the way as they greeted her.

Ilulu entered the art classroom and sat down next to Sunset Shimmer who saw her come in.

"I didn't see you come in with me, did something happen?" Sunset asked.

"Yeah, Derpy gave me a new muffin that tasted like awesome though she told me that she stayed up all night and suddenly fell sleep on a locker, so I took her to the Nurse's office to have her get a look at." Ilulu explained.

"Oh, that Derpy. Always with the muffins." Sunset chuckled.

"This one was really good; it was like I was experiencing a new way of eating fruits." Ilulu smiled with a tiny bit of drool coming down from her mouth.

"Well, hopefully that will teach her a lesson about not taking her sleep." Sunset said as she ships the drool away.

"So, how did your painting come along? You know today is when we turn it in." Sunset reminded her of the art class homework.

"Of course, what kind of fool do you take me for?" Ilulu smirked as she showed her painting.

"Wow, this one is definitely done by your own style even though you have only been in art class for about two weeks now." Sunset was impressed with how Ilulu was able to do her painting.

"It's amazing, something I did all by myself!" Ilulu bragged with a smirk.

"Oh, so me giving you some advice and show you how art can be something to be admired had nothing to do with it?" Sunset asked with a chuckle.

"Okay, maybe not exactly by myself, but I still did the painting!" Ilulu felt a little embarrassed.

(Lunchtime)

Now Ilulu is seen having lunch with her friends including Flash Sentry who she grown liking to be with the most as she leans her head on his shoulder.

"You know you have to eat your lunch before lunch period ends, right?" Flash pointed out that she hasn't touched most of her food yet.

"Sorry, just getting comfy." Ilulu smiled.

"Oh, we know that feeling all too well." Applejack chuckled.

"But she's gonna have to wait for her turn after Sonata, something you shouldn't keep her waiting." Adagio winked at Flash, making him blush.

"I'm just giving her time to adjust more to being in school." Flash proclaimed.

"And I am enjoying this every moment." Ilulu smiled.

It has been two weeks since Ilulu enrolled into Canterlot High to experience what humans do when they go to school to learn lots of things and other things outside of it too, one of the classes include the mystical class with Lucoa as the teacher though she hasn't taken any club activities yet.

Everything is going great for the new young dragon girl in town as she has started to appreciate humans more upon living among them and even being friends with them such as the Rainbooms, the girls she's living with in Flash's house, and Derpy Hooves who seems really friendly.

Ilulu knew that deep down, her parents would never approve of her interacting with humans as they still believe them to be bad like the ones who killed some dragons and them in that other world, but now she knows better than to let hatred cloud her judgement to not see a better future.

"So, is there any plans you guys are doing today?" Ilulu asked as she looks at Fluttershy.

"Oh, well, me and the girls are going to visit the animal shelter to get their pets clean up and to give them checkups to make sure they're healthy." Fluttershy answered.

"In case you haven't noticed, Fluttershy here is THE animal expert before she even got her magic power to talk to animals. It's like she was born to be an animal guru, the one who understands their whispers!" Pinkie explained.

"So, a superhero for animals?" Ilulu asked commenting.

"Oh, I wouldn't say that much, I just really like to help animals because they have their own place in our world, and they deserve to be treated with respect like everyone else." Fluttershy said, being modest.

"If you don't have any plans, then you're welcome to see the animals at the shelter. Oh, and maybe we can help find you a pet!" Fluttershy offered Ilulu to come with them.

"Sure, I don't mind." Ilulu smiled.

"As long as Flash is coming." Ilulu hugged his arm.

"Guess I'm coming too." Flash said.

"But before that, I'm going to show you a place where animals can get a good treatment." Fluttershy said.

(Later, Pet Shop)

Fluttershy is giving a dog a bath making sure she is fresh and clean for a special day today while making some silly sounds because of how cute the dog is.

"Who's a good girl?" Fluttershy giggled as the dog licked her face a few times.

"Almost done, Winona." Fluttershy said before she washes the soap off from her body and blow dry her fur, and her job is done.

Ilulu is looking at through all the stuff this store has about everything an animal needs such as leashes for the dogs, toys that look like mouses for the cats, little decorations for fish bowls, and this place has the right kind of food even for snakes and turtles.

"Thinking of any animals that interest you?" Applejack asked.

"Well, I do like some animals, but I'm already living with a lot of them." Ilulu said.

"Really? What animals?" Flash asked curiously.

"You humans, of course." Ilulu answered which confuses Flash a lot.

"Right, because humans started out as monkeys billions of years ago before the evolution kicked in making them into the human beings we know today." Sunset chuckled.

"You're making it sound like you're not human yourself." Flash said.,

"I wasn't from the start. I used to be, and still am, a pony from another world, remember?" Sunset reminded him of her pony origin.

"Oh yeah, almost forgotten about that." Flash scratched the back of his head.

"But I bet you would look sexy as a little pony." Flash complimented pulled her in for a hug making Sunset giggle.

"What about me?" Applejack asked, leaning onto Flash.

"Of course, though I think you would be cuter as a little cowgirl with some milk." Flash complimented her and kissed her cheeks.

"She's clean!" Fluttershy announced.

Winona runs up to Applejack who is the owner jumping into her arms and licking her.

"Wow, Winona looks cleaner than a whistle!" Applejack was impressed with Fluttershy's work on helping with cleaning up Winona.

"Now she's all ready for the phot shoot." Fluttershy smiled.

"Photo shot?" Flash, Sunset, and Ilulu were confused on what photo shot Fluttershy meant.

"For the charity calendar. We're making it to raise money for the local animal shelter, it's going to feature all of our pets." Fluttershy gestured over to the other pets of the Rainbooms such as Tank the tortoise, Angel the bunny, Spike the Dog, and Opalescence the cat.

"Wow, I would never expect pets becoming the more popular ones than humans." Ilulu commented.

"It's great for them to help out." Flash said.

"Yeah, I wish I could contribute, but…" Sunset looked over to see Applejack laughing from her dog licking her some more.

"I don't have a pet." Sunset said, looking a little sad.

"Oh, so you want one?" Fluttershy asked, believing that she could help find the right pet for Sunset.

"No, no, I wouldn't even know what to get." Sunset turned down the offer.

"Same with me, I never had any trouble with wanting a pet though I think I remember having an ant farm a long time ago." Flash mentioned, but he can't seem to remember. Maybe he'll try asking his mom about it later.

"So, are these animals going to dress up in some silly costumes or what?" Ilulu asked while gently scratching behind Winona's ear.

"Nothing like that, just have them looking great and get their pictures taken by the camera." Applejack answered.

"When is the photo shot for the calendar?" Flash asked.

"Tomorrow, we're going to take it in the music room." Fluttershy answered.

(Tomorrow)

Sunset is sitting on the bench-chair with Flash and Ilulu while the rest of the Rainbooms are together with their pets, each pair smiling and being happy to be together.

"So, humans take in animals and keep them in their homes to make themselves feel less lonely? What if they need to return to the wild?" Ilulu asked.

"Those guys aren't the wild animals like the ones you're familiar with." Flash pointed out.

However, Sunset is just looking on to see her friends and their pets making her feel something she hasn't expected to feel for the first time in her life. Even Pinkie is giggling with her pet stuff green alligator she named Gummy as she hugs it.

"Why is her pet only a toy?" Ilulu tilted her head in confusion.

"From what I heard, she wanted a real pet alligator, but her parents didn't want a dangerous animal living with them, so they got her the stuff toy as the next best thing." Flash explained.

"Okay Spike, your bow is fresh and shiny for the photo." Tohru said after finishing it.

"Nice." Spike smirked as he looks himself in the mirror held by Twilight.

Sunset started to see how having a pet could bring joy in one's life, something that she hadn't thought of until now.

"If you don't mind, Fluttershy. Do you think you could make a calendar for dragons next?" Lucoa requested.

"Oh, I'm sure that would be lovely!" Fluttershy nodded.

"Okay every pet, get ready for your big close up." Fluttershy said as she points the camera at the pets who are in position.

"Those guys do look adorable. Right, Sunset?" Flash asked.

"Yeah, very adorable." Sunset answered.

And that's when Sunset made up her mind that she wants a pet right now.

"Wait!" Sunset yelled a little, stopping Fluttershy before she could press the button.

"Got room for one more?" Sunset asked.

"You're not a pet, silly." Pinkie laughed a little.

"I can turn her into one!" Ilulu held up a glowing claw.

"How about we hear out Sunset first before we use any magic." Tohru pushed the claws down, not wanting Ilulu to cause anything bad to happen.

"No, I mean I change my mind." Sunset said.

"About not waning a pet?" Flash asked.

"Yeah." Sunset nodded before turning to Fluttershy.

"Fluttershy, will you help me choose a pet?" Sunset requested.

"I thought you never ask!" Fluttershy squealed smiling.

Fluttershy quickly grabs Sunset's hand and drags her out of the music room to start looking for the perfect pet for her.

"Now I'm really curious to see what animal she's going to get." Ilulu ran after them.

"Should we go with them too?" Lucoa asked her beloved Flash.

"I don't think that would be necessary, we'll just wait for Sunset and her new pet." Flash smiled, believing that this is something for her to do.

(Animal Shelter)

Fluttershy brought Sunset and Ilulu into the Animal Shelter where they see all kinds of animals in here, and one of these critters is going become Sunset's perfect pet.

"Welcome to the Animal Shelter!" Fluttershy announced.

"Oh, I just know there's a perfect animal for you somewhere in here!" Fluttershy said.

"Do you have sharks here?" Ilulu asked as she looks around.

A gerbil came running up to Fluttershy upon seeing her excited with its squeak, Fluttershy picks it up and pets it on the back.

"They're just so cuddly! Don't you think so, Sunset?" Fluttershy asked.

"Uh, not for me. Maybe something a little less furry." Sunset said, not seeing a gerbil as the ideal pet for her.

"Like a fish? I don't see any sharks here, but a fish might be what you're looking for." Ilulu looked at some of the fish in a few fish tanks.

"Good idea, Ilulu. No fur at all, and this one has beautiful fins!" Fluttershy recommend, showing Sunset the fish that has the color as her hair.

Though the fish looks uninterested in Sunset while the girl herself isn't feeling the vibe of wanting a fish for a pet, and it's not something that she can play with outside or something like the others with their own pets.

"I don't know, it would be cool to hold my pet." Sunset stated.

"Maybe a bear or a gorilla or wyvern or a hydra like the ones that grows more heads when you chop one head off!" Ilulu suggested a small list of interesting animals that could be good pets for Sunset.

"Or something smaller." Sunset shared her own idea of a pet for her.

"I know just the thing." Fluttershy believed she knows just the animal for Sunset.

She led the others to the reptile area where they see all kinds like lizards, snakes, turtles as Sunset looks at them definitely feeling something from them but not completely. That is when Sunset saw one leopard gecko standing on a rock.

"Hey there, little guy." Sunset greeted the gecko as it looks back at her.

Once they made eyes contact with each other, Sunset's heart suddenly burst with happiness and seeing a golden glowing aura around the black-spotted gecko as it seems to smile back at her.

"Well, aren't you just a little ray of sunshine!" Sunset giggled and look back at her mom.

"I'll take him." Sunset decided that the gecko would be her perfect pet, a friend she can have around.

"Oh, a lizard. Wise choice since they represent dragons from the ancient times." Ilulu approved of this.

"I'll take him!" Sunset said, making Fluttershy move with tears.

(Music Room)

Now the photo shoot is back on track with the pet group being together and ready for their picture to be taken, but Sunset's pet gecko appears to be nervous being with other animals as he looks at Fluttershy.

"Oh, don't worry sweetie, you can scoot in a little. They won't bite." Fluttershy said.

Sunset decided to help her pet gecko with some encouragement lowing her hand for him to climb on and lifting him up to eye-level.

"It's okay, Ray. I'll take care of you, promise." Sunset said as Ray, the gecko's name, snuggles on her cheek.

"And I'll teach everything about his dragon ancestors!" Ilulu smirked.

"Are lizards really descendant of dragons?" Flash asked Lucoa, but she just smiles not saying anything.

Sunset put Ray down back with the group. Just as Fluttershy is about to take the picture, Angel hops on Spike's head causing Winona and Opalescence to jump their paws on Spike and the picture is taken.

Ilulu is doing quite well fitting into Canterlot High as a student and even saw how humans take care of the animals that are brought into the shelter, and Sunset Shimmer has finally decided to get a pet because of how the Rainbooms are happy with their pets as she got a cool gecko she named Ray.
