Adagio's First Crush
Movie Night
Previous ChapterNext ChapterRight after she got off the phone with Adagio, Sunset headed to her room to find something to wear for when her and Adagio went out for supper. She was looking through her outfits wondering what to wear. She thought to herself, "Should I just wear pants and a shirt? Should I wear that dress that I wore at The Battle of the Bands or should I wear a shirt and a skirt?"
Besides wondering what she should wear, Sunset was wondering what kind of impression she wanted to make. At this point she wasn't exactly sure how she felt about Adagio. One part of her simply viewed her as just a really good friend but an increasingly large part of her had a crush on Adagio. Finally after what she felt was probably too long, she decided on the shirt and skirt. She thought that perhaps it would make a good impression on Adagio and show what an increasing part of her really feels.
Once she got dressed she headed out to the living room to search through her DVDs. This was equally as hard for her because she wasn't sure what kind of atmosphere she wanted to create. A small part of her wanted to just create a normal atmosphere but another part wanted a more romantic atmosphere, something that may help her tell what kind of feelings Adagio has for her.
Something struck Sunset. She said that they would watch a couple of movies. She said to herself, "Well one could be more of an adventure and if she isn't tired after it, then I'll put the romantic movie in." After digging through her collection she pulled out two. The first one was Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom and the other was Sleepless in Seattle. Just as she got them sat down in front of the TV, there was a knock on her door.
Sunset rushed to the door and was immediately greeted by Adagio. "Hi Sunset, how's it going?"
Sunset replied, "Well everything is going alright." She saw that Adagio was wearing pants instead of a skirt and hoped that it wasn't a bad sign. She gave her a smile and continued, "So where would you like to eat? Were you thinking of somewhere quick or were you thinking of a regular restaurant?"
Adagio replied, "Well I was about to ask you the same thing."
Sunset had an idea, something that she thought might also give her an idea of how Adagio was feeling about her. She replied, "Well I was thinking we could get something from that burger joint" Sunset began to smile a bit and continued, "and then go stargazing."
While Adagio had never been the biggest fan of stargazing, she figured that she would do it for Sunset. She replied, "Yeah, we can do that." She then looked back towards her car and continued, "Shall we get going?"
Sunset replied, "Sure."
The two headed off towards the burger joint and it was all Sunset could do to not be noticed as she tried to read Adagio's face. Unfortunately, she couldn't read much of anything. Once they got within eyesight of the burger joint Adagio asked, "Well do you want to go inside and eat or do you want to get it to go and head off to do the stargazing?"
Sunset wanted to get out alone as soon as possible so she replied, "How about we just go through the drive-thru and then head out?"
Adagio replied, "Sounds good to me."
After getting their food and pulling away, Adagio asked, "So where do you want to go to do this?"
Sunset knew of several good places for stargazing but knew that the darkest and least busy place was South Canterlot Hill. She replied, "How about we go to South Canterlot Hill, it is the darkest and it is the furthest away from the sky glow of the city."
Adagio didn't have much of an idea what she meant by skyglow but headed out towards the hill. When they got there, no one else was there. They got out of the car and Sunset immediately headed to the top of the hill and Adagio followed her. When they got there they sat down and began to look skyward.
Adagio asked, "So, do we just look up at the sky or what? I'd always heard people brought telescopes with them so they can see better."
Sunset replied, "Normally they do but I just figured we could look at the patterns of the stars and find the constellations."
Adagio said, "Well it is whatever you want to do."
Given her history and the fact that at one time she was one of Celestia's students, even just looking for constellations interested Sunset while Adagio simply looked skywards and thought to herself, "We're just looking at stars for no real reason? This is so boring."
After fifteen minutes Sunset figured they had done enough and wanted to get back to her house. Once they got up Sunset asked, "Well shall we get back to my house and watch some movies?"
Adagio, who had been wondering for a while, especially once her sisters brought it up, thought it might be a good idea so she could see if they are right. She replied, "Yeah, sure."
Once they got back in the car again Sunset tried to see if Adagio was making any certain facial expressions but given how dark it was, she saw none. Once they headed back in Adagio plopped down on the couch and Sunset headed to get the DVD in and ready everything to play it. As Adagio watched her do this she asked, "So, what are we going to watch?"
Sunset knew of the types of movies that Adagio liked and replied, "You'll see. I think you'll like it."
Adagio liked very specific types of movies and wondered if Sunset knew what kind they were. She replied, "I hope so."
Once the move started and Adagio noticed it was an Indiana Jones movie, she was very happy. She commented, "You know me very well Sunset, very well."
Sunset replied, "Well I do think of you as my best friend."
This caused Adagio's head to shoot up. She knew they were close friends but had always thought that her Rainboom friends were her besties. She gasped, "Really, you think of me as your best friend?"
Sunset replied, "Yes, I do."
Adagio commented, "You know, I always thought one of the Rainbooms was your best friend."
Sunset replied, "They are close but you and I do have more in common given our pasts....now how about we focus on the movie."
Adagio nodded and immediately both of them were immersed in the movie. They became so immersed in it that they almost forgot the other one was there. Once they had finished that movie neither one of them was tired. Sunset saw Adagio was still alert and asked, "So would you be up for another one?"
Adagio replied, "Sure, I'm not tired and I do enjoy spending time with you."
As Sunset headed up to put the other DVD in she replied, "I like spending time with you too."
As Sunset was putting the other DVD in Adagio was hoping that it would be another Indiana Jones movie but would be surprised when it came on. Her jaw dropped open when she discovered it was "Sleepless in Seattle." Her first thought was, "Did she borrow one of Sonata's?"
Sunset saw a look of shock on her face and asked, "I take it you don't want to watch this?"
Adagio, wondering if Sunset had some sort of plan replied, "This is fine. I'm just shocked that you have a movie like this."
Sunset knew about how she and her sisters were. She said, "I'm not like you, I like more than just action movies."
Once the movie started Sunset quickly became immersed in it while Adagio's mind began to drift, wishing that they were watching something else. She thought to herself, "Ugh, I'd rather be watching one of Aria's movies than this."
Eventually though she did begin to pay attention to the movie but one thing she didn't notice was Sunset slowly inching closer and closer to her, the same way that Sonata inches slowly towards Aria. Once the movie was halfway over, Sunset had pressed herself up against Adagio and she finally noticed. She asked, "Sunset, are you ok?"
Sunset faked a yawn and replied, "Yeah, I'm alright. I'm just a bit tired and thought you might let me lean up against you."
This was something Adagio was secretly hoping for. She replied, "Of course you can."
At this moment both of them began to have other things running through their minds, things other than the movie. Both put their arms around the other and slowly began running their hands under the shoulder until they had ran their hands under the other's bra strap. Finally Sunset asked, "Dagi, are you trying to tell me something?"
Sunset looked up to see Adagio's face mirrored her own, it was red as an apple. She let out a slight laugh, "Sunny, what would I be trying to tell you?"
Sunny. That was something that no one had ever called her before. Even when she was dating Flash Sentry he never called her that nor did he blush the way Adagio was. Sunset gave her a smile and asked, "Are you sure about that? No one has ever called me Sunny before and that blush of yours....." Sunset grabbed the remote, turned the movie off and continued, "You know what, forget this. I can think of something far more enjoyable that a mere romance movie."
Adagio gave her a huge smile, "Really and what is that?"
Sunset replied, "Oh you'll see!"
While Adagio had been trying to put up a strong front and hide her emotions, she began to realize that perhaps her sisters are right. She realized that chances are Sunset had a crush on her and with her blush, she knew that hers had been given away. As they got up off the couch, Adagio couldn't help but wonder, what did Sunset have in store for them?"
