when a tear in the universe caused by a trans-universal transport portal in another universe spits out a human into the center of ponyville, something bad is obviously going to happen. this human says his name is James and he brings news of bad happenings, so the main 6 and James have to race against time to track down and find all six of the 'elements of the multiverse', which are objects charged with energy that was released when the portal opened. if they do not find them in time then equestria will be overrun by humans with the intention of ravaging the land, taking its resources and enslaving the ponies as workers.
