Chapter 2
Sloppy. Just sloppy. Halt was disapointed with fact that he wasn't able to keep the murder quiet but alass the job was done and there was no kind of suspician against his creed.Halt could easliy be spotted by anypony but yet he knew that no pony would ever question his appearance in this area even though he had weapons that could easliy cause the death of the stallion in the hospital. But yet Halt was still able to keep going with no one paying attention to him other than a few curious kids who couldn't help but look at the equipment that Halt kept in the cloak and of course the several things that bulged out like of course his sword, longbow and the dagger held at his right flank. The weapons that no one could see were the 2 hidden blades on his 2 forelegs which only appeared as vambraces to the wondering eye. Then their was the gun that was held into his right hidden blade which was as small as a hummingbird which no pony could even see and also could be easily missed upon further inspection. In his left blade their was a poisen tip when administered could easily kill anypony in the time of thirty seconds but would cause that pony to start flailing wildly to a point where those around him/her would be in danger, this of course would cause a distraction so Halt could get by.(Halt hardly liked to use the poison, thinking it was a cruel way to use anypony good or bad.) Halt also had store of medicine A.K.A painkillers and poison were both carried in large amounts.
Halt swiftly was able to get back to his small house in town to write his report on how the job went. This letter first started as Dear Bretheren, the job has been done successfuly and the surviving templar is dead and their are no traces back to us.
Halt was satisfied with the letter short but still informative to the others. Halt thought again on why he had to kill the man, yes he understood the fact that a surviving templar from a fight could be very helpful to their higher-ups, but yet halt still couldn't understand why he a master assassin still had to do these kind of petty jobs. He had been stuck with these kinds of jobs ever since he joined the assassins, Halt wasn't ignorant of the cause but he was still young 23, he had been an assassin since he was about 15 he could stil remember the day...
It was Halt's first year in Canterlot high school, he moved away from ponyville's school since his parents thought their son needed to be taught at a better school more adapted to the academic level for there little Halt.
88 his test said and that's what made Halt groan, because he knew what this ment from his parents and the other colts, his parents would lecture him saying that 100s were the only thing Halt the colts would say he was too smart(the colts average tests scores were from 50 to 75) the teacher remarked on the grade to Halt " good job Halt"Halt's grades always have been good but not good enough for his parents to good for other colts. Halt was always quiet but yet he always spoke out if something wasn't right, that of course almost always got him in trouble with his peers. The class Halt was in was his favorite social studies but it was also his last class of the day.
At this age Halt was strangely still calm and level-headed compared to the others his age who acted out or were just plain rowdy. Halt listened eagerly to the lecture the teacher was giving about the culture of people in Stalliongrad, Halt's brain was open to any of the details and stored them for later use. Everypony else was either listening with one ear or simply whispering to their friends but Halt and another group of ponies were listening and taking notes, but Halt didn't take notes he simply remembered and concentrated and instead taking mental notes which could be recited easily in the future. Mr. Fuller took notice of Halt and actually thought that Halt wasn't listening but simply daydreaming something Halt had o nly done in Elementary. This automatically made Mr.Fuller ask Halt a question that was very blunt and straightforward but ment to test the student's attention. "Halt Treaty what do ponies in stalliongrad do to greet eachother" Halt immediately answered " Handshake and/or bearhug and for woman kiss 3 times on the cheek" Mr.Fuller stiffened with suprise that Halt was actually able to answer that and was satisfied with that and continued the lesson.
The bell rang and was met with the departure of the students including Halt who was one of the last ponies to leave and was trying to simply be left aloe by blending with the other colts. Of course this didn't work but only made it worse by the fact that that the colts knew he would be last to exit. Most of these colts growing up in a high society gained easy access to drugs sold on the streets and of course on the streets they gained strengthed and experience in fighting. The gang that went after Halt were all of this and more. Halt made his way down the steps fast and was going on the sidewalk, when the 4 came into view, Halt coninued walking trying his best ignoring them and the glances that were directed towards him. Halt knew his luck wouldn't hold yet he still tryed his best to get around them but it was no use. They started to taunt Halt which to Halt was just an annoyance and nothing to get concerned over. Yet they went to great lengths to just get Halt mad which was something they would later regret, Halt was a fighter the worst kind at that..a calm one. Finally Halt spoke up and said " You all can stop now and I will forget this" at this 4 colts just ooed at the threat thinking it wasn't anything but a thing to just scare them. Halt let out a small sigh and walked right up to one of them stomped him on the front right hoof then gives and uppercut which instantly knocks the small colt out. The others simply watched in awe until another one spoke up and said " Guys it was just Clide he's a wimp." Again Halt just sighed and continued to fight at first just defending then giving out his own blows unti there was just one left and he simply ran until he ran into a cloaked figure who picked him up and punched him once in the face with just enough force to also knock him out the the cloaked figure simply dropped the colt with no effort at all.
Halt made his way over to the figure and muttered " Why did you help" with that the stranger just laughed and bent into a crouch and said in a dead serious voice " What they were doing wasn't right and hell you even gave them warning yet they still tryed with the only intention of hurting you for what for your grades" with that Halt then looked wide eyed at him and asked the innocent question " Why do you have weapons on you?" with that the stallion started to look sheepish and answered " For business" that only made Halt more curious as he started to walk around him and looking everywhere there might be something that might be pretty cool such as his crossbow and his dagger, but he saw something strange about the vambraces and peered closer and realized that the mechanism was a lot more complicated than need be so Halt innocently started to prod the device with this the stranger started to take notice of the object of obsession to the little colt and activated the device so Halt could see. The moment the blade popped out Halt fell back with suprise and fear of this stranger. The stranger then took charge and said " My name Will and I want you to come with me." With that Will turned around and walked away with Halt following filled with curiosity over the stranger "Will."
Halt was tooken out of school by Will Vanderlin at the age of 15 and never saw his family again but Halt later learned that his parents both died dad by heart attack then weeks later the wife commited suicide filled with grief over her husbands death but not over her missing son no, Halt missing was simply an inconvienance to both family and officals. Nobody cared about Halt but yet he could care less since he was to busy with training that will gave. At the age 21 Halt became a full-fledged assassin and 1 year later became a master assassin.
Halt looked up from his thoughts and he still felt good about his decision since Halt had no regrets at all.
Chapter 3
It has been 3 months since his last assignment Halt had not heard from his peers which is kinda of odd but yet he took this time to do normal things like reading and excercising regularly yet he still kept his weapons sharp and training on a dummy in his home. Halt could not believe that he had not gotten anything from his bretheren not even a letter from his close friends or his old mentor Will. So Halt finally decided to leave the house since the last 3 months (he had supply stashes throughout his house just for waiting out long periods of time) Halt opened the door and was forced to sheild his eyes from the sun but that problem went away when Halt pulled the cloak over his head. Halt walked everywhere in town searching for a sign for his brothers but found nothing. Halt was amazed by the fact that their was no trace of any of his creed anymore. Bang,Halt sheilded his eyes from the explosion as he felt somepony grab him and put a bag over his head. The phantom pushed Halt through a doorway where Halt was then hit upside the head with something metalic and quickly lossed consicousness...
Halt awoke and looked foward to see a metal door that stood daunting him he tried to walk forward to the door and was held fast by ropes that held his hooves in place on the ground. Halt looked over himself and realized that he had all of his equipment, whoever captured was so stupid they didn't think to remove his items, so Halt activated his hidden blades and cut them off his hooves he then turned and cut the ropes off his hindlegs. Now unrestrained he made his way to the door and tried to work the lock with his hidden blade to no avail. Halt looked around for any way to break the lock on the door but there was nothing other than a bed and a toilet the room looked like a jail cell without the bars thought Halt. Halt then looked at the lock then at his foreleg then he facehoofed. Halt quickly use his gun to shoot the lock destroying it and the force of the bullet actually pushed the door open.
The guard outside the door was pushed down and killed in an instant by Halt with a quick throatstab with the hidden blade Halt looked everywhere trying to find an exit. The only thing that lined the hallways were more doors Halt opened several to see that there was nothing except of course the bed toilet setup. Halt kept running down hallways until he hit a stroke of luck and found a set of stairs up. Halt quickly ran up these stairs and then saw something that made him stop dead in his tracks. The whole room was filled with guards that were watching something on stage...Will with a rope around his neck. Halt stayed in the back of the crowd and only heard the words being spoken by the executioner " This man has been convicted of treason against Celestia and Equestria, and so will pay the highest price there is..death." Halt couldn't take this sentiment against his mentor's life, Halt ran through the sea of guards and onto the raised platform only to see up close the hanging of Will Vanderlon. All eyes were on Halt as he fell to the ground and started to tear up. The executioner stepped over to Halt and crouched beside him and pulled out a dagger.
The dagger didn't do anything but fall as blood flooded out of it's owner. The moment the executioner fell Halt was already running from the guards. He knew that he couldn't stay in Canterlot anymore, Halt was going to board the first train going anywhere. Halt wasn't even worried about the guards chasing him, he knew he could away from them with no trouble. Halt was more focused on trying get out of this place wherever it was. Halt almost started laughing hysterically when he saw the EXIT sign. Halt immeidiately ran through the door while the guards were having trouble coming through.Halt looked at his surroundings and saw that he was only 500 hoofs away from the train station. The train was already started and almost gone from his view,there were no trains whatsoever at the station. Halt made a quick look behind him to see if any of the guards were pegasi suprisingly there were only about 2 in the entire crowd easy kills. With that Halt took off in the direction the train went in to catch up. The 2 pegasi made an effort to stop Halt but it was futile they were both cut with swift strokes from his sword.
Halt easily caught up to the train with almost no effort. He got in through the back opening and went to Celestia knows where.
