Granny Smith lays on her deathbed in the Apple family’s farm house. Her grandkids, and great grandkids stand or sit around her bedside as she lays dying.

“For years I’ve kept the story of how this whole mess began…” she said, “How it all started.”

“Granny please!” Applejack exclaimed, “Spend your last moments alive, not reliving the past.”

“Damn it Applejack! Right now the whole world is going to Tartarus in a bread basket, with this war against the Pulsar Militia! Not many of you know how everything began! How events shaped the events of the past few decades! You need to hear this story!”

Applejack sat back down and sighed in defeat. Granny cleared her throat and continued…

“It all started during the Second Great War… Equestria was united with Trottingham and other nations on two fronts… Things for the Axis forces weren’t going so well when Equestria entered the war… I was a nurse within the M*A*S*H* unit. A lot of women were during that time. As we were drafted into the military as well as the men, but back then women weren’t sent to the front lines...”

A younger Granny Smith, known as Lady Smith at the time was known as Lady Smith, walks the halls of a field hospital in the nation of the Fillypines. The Fillypines are near the border of the Neighpon Empire, which is one side of the Second Great War being fought by Equestria.

Smith makes her daily rounds through the makeshift hospital, tending to the injured and their needs. She looks at her charts for the next patient, a Washington Apple. Pulling back the curtain she sees the orange skin, red haired young man sitting on the bed. His wounds covered up with gauze. All wounds received are from shrapnel that embedded into his skin during a recent fight against a Neighponese attack, within the sea of Neighpon. Washington is a sailor on the battleship, EMS Starswirl, named after a famous scientist of the past. She looked at her chart, which read that she is give him a shot and release him.

“Well consider yourself lucky Mr. Washington.” she said, “Those bullets usually kill all of those hit.”

“Ah hell nurse. Luck had nothing to do with it sugarcube.” Washington said, in a southern accent. “It was all skill to avoid getting lethal wounds.”

“Whatever, just drop your pants and lay on your stomach.” Smith ordered. Washington complied as Smith got the stuff ready for the shot. Pulling out a large thick syringe with a bigger needle.

“Normally I get my shots in the arm ma’am.” he said.

“Sorry but this is how I was trained. Nurses didn’t have time to get the full course training in medicine.”

“I understand but…” He was cut off with the needle penetrating his buttocks. “OH HELLO!”

“You’ll be fine you big baby! “Now go!”

“Wait a minute!” cried Applejack’s son, Macintosh. “This is how you met Great Grandpa Washington isn’t it!? I thought this was how everything led up to this point!?”

“Yes this is how I met you Great Grandpa, but from here on, this is how Washington’s side of the story started. He told me everything when it was all over…” Granny said.

Prologue

Washington Apple returned to the Starswirl, where Captain Buck Wild and his XO brother, Thunder Charge, awaited the ensign.

“Welcome back Ensign!” Back said.

“Thanks Captain! Can’t keep a good Apple down!”

“That a fact!” Buck said. Thunder Charge stood behind the two with a piece of paper. Thunder Charge is charcoal black with sky blue hair and matching eyes. He is Buck’s younger brother and a bit of a trouble maker before joining the Navy. The drill sergeant straightened him out, and taught him discipline.

“Yes…?” Buck finally caught sight of his brother.

“This communication just came in for you Sir.” Thunder said. Handing over the paper. Buck looked at it as it read:

Important notice to the EMS Starswirl! We received word of some kind of large meteor hitting the ocean near Neighpon. We can’t confirm it right now, and request you investigate it immediately! Enclosed are the coordinates where the meteor crashed!

“Okay… Looks like we have new orders.” Buck said. He turned around and headed toward the bridge of the ship. When Buck enters the bridge…

“CAPTAIN ON DECK!” Thunder announced, and everyone on the bridge stood at attention.

“At ease.” Buck said, “Navigator please head to these coordinates.”

The navigator looks at the coordinates to the meteor. Then he looks back at Buck.

“You sure it ain’t no ambush by Neighpon, Sir? Have these coordinates been confirmed?”

They have been confirmed to be from Admiral High Tide himself at the island territory of Pon’i.” Buck said, So they’re safe.”

“Aye aye Captain!”

Elsewhere in the Great Sea, the Neighponese Navy also saw the meteor, and have sent orders to their nearest ship, the NMS Masamune. Captain Tsunami of the Masamune received and confirmed that the orders came from the Emperor himself.

“When shall we head out Captain?” the navigator asked. Tsunami turned and looked at him.

“Immediately!”

Tsunami is a sapphire blue man with sea green hair, and blue eyes. As with all of Neighponese forces he considers himself honorable compared to the Equestrian military, as well as the Germaneigh military. To the Neighponese, Equestria is full of honorless dogs, and Germaneigh is full of heartless monsters that kill their own people for some strange reason. However, the Emperor finds himself an ally in Germaneigh. Especially since the Emperor ordered the attack on Gemini Harbor on the island of Pon’i. That day Neighpon only targeted the harbor and the troops stationed at both ports of Castor and Pollux. Not once did they target the innocent civilians. Though the writers of the history books will make it seem like that they did.

Once the Masamune headed toward the coordinates. The race to see what landed in the Great Sea begins.
