Across The Pond
When the Best Isn't Enough
Previous ChapterNext ChapterThe three Blades and Theodane made their way up the side of the large Thalmor ship. Strillian was at the top of the ship and over the railing first. Theodane and Strillian's subordinates weren't far behind.
Once they were over the wooden railing they were met with a very large and cluttered deck. There were many High Elf sailors moving about the top of the deck but they were talking and laughing and didn't notice the four intruders at first. Strillian looked around, confused at the site. 'They are in the middle of a battle and they are sitting around like they are having a party?' Strillian thought to himself.
Apparently Theodane was having similar thoughts as he pulled out his dagger and threw it, hitting a well dressed High Elf in the upper part of his torso in the side. The dagger seemed to have gone in deep but they were too far away to accurately judge the damage that it had caused. Though they were sure of one thing, it got the attention of the Thalmor.
Everyone turned at the yelp of the Thalmor who had been wounded and then to the guest that had arrived without their knowledge. The High Elf was on the ground, sitting up and shaking back in fourth, as if it was the first time he had been cut in his life. The well dressed High Elf looked towards the four and managed to breath out "what was that for?"
'Wait, do they really have civilians on this ship? Do they not know there is a fight going on? Why is this guy even shocked we attacked?' all these questions circled Strillian's mind. Strillian was more in shock than anything else. He knew the Thalmor was crazy but to bring civilians to something like this.
Theodane was quickest to recover and managed to reply "it's a little TIP for you, get the POINT of what I'm trying to say?"
Strillian turned to look at Theodane and let out a sigh and shook his head. Theodane just glanced and Strillian and laughed. The High Elves who were in armor drew their swords and the well dressed High Elves fled to the lower decks. Strillian, Theodane , and the other two Blades drew their weapons in response.
The two Blades moved first, running forward towards the mass of Thalmor agents. The Thalmor agents moved forward, many to meet the two advancing Blades. The two Blades swiped their swords low and swept the feet of two Thalmor. The Thalmor feel forward and hit the deck. The Thalmor were now circling the two and many more were moving towards Strillian and Theodane.
The view of his two men was blocked by the many Thalmor agents that swiftly encircled Theodane and him. Strillian gave a quick glance to Theodane, who did the same. Both bearing a confident smile before turning to their enemies and striking. Their swords met with the clashing of steal.
Strillian's sword ran the length of the sword of the Thalmor he had clashed with down to the handle, cutting the hands of the Thalmor. The High Elf dropped his sword and Strillian brought it forward running the Thalmor through. Strillian kicked the Thalmor off his sword and continued to fight.
Theodane was clashing with a Thalmor agent. Though Theodane was not as skilled a swordsman as Strillian was but he was still a quite a skilled fighter and was managing to put up a good fight. They were chopping the Thalmor down easily enough, every once in a while they would take a hit.
They were dealing more damage than they were taking, but numbers can overwhelm. The Thalmor managed to push Strillian and Theodane towards the other two Blades. Deep into the fight they fought, covered on all sides as every Thalmor agent converged on them, until they were close enough to smell the breath of the enemy.
Some time passed and the Thalmor masses slowly backed off, separating from the four. Strillian and Theodane were on one knee, looking down. One Blade was on both knees, leaning forward and balancing his weight between his knees and hands. The other Blade lay on his face, dead, in a pool of a mixture of Thalmor and his own blood.
All of the Thalmor stopped, and looked towards the site of the broken warriors with a smile of victory, before sending them to the afterlife.
Theodane fell back on a knee every time he attempted to rise and continue to fight. The living Blade only kept his eyes shut, trying to mentally fight the pain so he could move before the Thalmor ended the pain for him. Strillian looked downward, waiting for what was sure to follow.
BOOM!
Strillian head the cannon and shut his eyes. He had assumed they would use a bow or just just cut their throats. And although a cannon seemed excessive Strillian thought it would lead to a quicker death than an arrow would, and he didn't want to see it coming.
BOOM! BOOM!
Two more cannon fires, 'that can't be right, how could they be missing? Wait, wouldn't firing a cannon on their own ship be recklessly dangerous, these High Elves are too up tight to do anything like that.' Something wasn't adding up and Strillian was beginning to get curious.
BOOM!
Strillian looked up at the sound of another cannon fire. He saw all the Thalmor turned, facing some unknown force. Then, three Thalmor agents were thrown back by a mass of colors.
More cannon shots then the clashing of swords were heard by the three, and though they could not see anything they knew what was there was their best shot of getting to safety and surviving. They looked onward and saw two Blades break through the masses with an Imperial none of them recognized. The three injured warriors were quickly picked put as Strillian tried to look around.
Strillian saw Pinkie Pie, somehow firing four cannons at once. Knowing Pinkie Pie he allowed his brain to focus on other things as he was lead the the edge of the boat quickly and found himself falling off the side, followed quickly by four ponies and four other humans.
Strillian felt himself being engulfed by the water, a sensation that was short lived as a sky blue blur carried him to shore. After a minute everyone had made it to where Strillian was, be it by swimming or carried by Rainbow Dash.
"We have to get help, they need medical assistance" came a voice Strillian recognized as one of his Blades.
"I have a little training, I can see what I can do but without proper equipment and with no connection to the city I can't promise anything" said a voice Strillian didn't recognize.
'Wait, no connection to the city?' Strillian thought. Strillian opened his eyes to find himself on the shore of Lake Rumare instead of the island were the Imperial City stood. He looked out onto the waters to see all five of the boats the Empire had now sinking into the water, and only a small portion of the Thalmor ships.
Strillian managed to will forth enough energy to speak, only to ask the obvious, "we failed, didn't we."
But before Strillian could get an answer, he blacked out.
