My Shattered Soul: Starting Anew

Once again I was standing on our balcony looking out over Canterlot. Luna was sleeping peacefully while my thoughts was raging through my mind. As I watched my heart sleep, I couldn't stop my mind from drifting back to the first time we met all those years ago.

I appeared on Equis three years into the Discordian War. I was lucky I guess, because I happened to find myself behind Equestrian lines. I had been running for five days and was exhausted. I didn't know how I had got here nor did I know where I was. I had been wandering around the woods I was in trying to survive when I ran into a group of ponies in armour. Not knowing any better I ran. Worst and best mistake I ever made.

They finally cornered me in a clearing. When they did I gave up.

"Go ahead. Kill me. I can't run anymore."

"Now why on Equis would we do that" asked the tallest of the ponies. She was a brilliant white with a multi colored mane and tail that moved on its own.

"Are you a spy? A new creature in the employ of Discord or are you one of his created monsters?"

"None of the above. Besides, I have no idea who this Discord is or where the hell I'm at right now."

She looked at me for a few moments then smiled.

"I can tell you are speaking honestly. You're truly lost as you say. If I may ask. What is your name?"

"J Lynn Voigt."

"Well J, come with us a get a proper meal. You look like you could use one. I am Celestia by the way."

"Nice to meet you Celestia and I could use something to eat."

As I followed the guards, Celestia had fell back to where I was and we started talking. I was told who Discord was and that her and her sister Luna was the leaders of a resistance against his rule. When we got to their main camp a hour later, I was right at the edge of my endurance. I found the nearest shade and just dropped.

I didn't move for ten minutes until I hear Celestia call my name. When I sat up and looked her way my eyes locked with a pair of the deepest blue I had ever seen.

"J, I would like you to meet my sister Luna."

Celestia was gorgeous yes, but Luna blew her away. She was a dark blue and her mane and tail looked like a star field. I was so entranced I couldn't believe what I said.

"You have to be the most beautiful creature I have ever seen." My words must have had some effect, because she blushed and turned away a little. Celestia had moved a hoof to cover her mouth and was giggling behind it.

"I see you may have found a suitor dear sister."

"He must be jesting Tia?"

"No he isn't LuLu. Everything J has said so far is the truth."

"I'm still sitting here and I was being honest. I have seen many beautiful ladies in my life, but you are with out a doubt the most beautiful."

"Awww J. Now look at what you've done. Your making my little sister blush more" Celestia commented giggling harder. I looked around in embarrassment when I heard a indignant squawk of "Tia" come from Luna.

I was not surprised to find myself once again wrapped up in a pair of ebony wings when I came back to myself.

"Lost in thought again my love?"

"No. Just remembering the first time we met." Luna blushed when I mentioned that.

"Ah yes. There's that blush I remember so well. You are adorable when you do it."

"I can't help it" she said smacking me on my shoulder. "I was only twenty and you was the first to ever compliment me like that."

"Maybe that's why I got you before anypony else did" I countered grinning.

"No that isn't why I fell for you."

I snapped my fingers "Now I remember." "It's because I'm older than you." Little known fact. I'm older than Tia and LuLu. When I met them I was fourty and they was twenty-three and twenty.

"That's not it either you old fart" she replied laughing.

"Where did you learn that phrase? Never mind that then. Why did I end up with you as my wife then?"

"Simple really. Every time we looked at each other or spoke to one another, you loved who I was as a pony. Not for who or what I represented. The more time we spent together, the more we fell for each other. That's why no other could ever win me over. Its because nopony else could love me as you do."

"And here I thought it was my charm and good looks that won you over." Luna finally broke down in laughter. I love the sound of Tia's, but when Luna genuinely laughs, to me it sounds like angels singing.

"I do have one item I want to share with you" she said walking around the chair I was sitting in and climbing into my lap. She took my hand and laid it on a specific spot on her belly. She had tears in her eyes when she said five little words.

"We're going to be parents."

I was speechless. "Are you sure. I mean, are" I couldn't get anything else out because of the hoof covering my mouth.

"Yes J, I'm positive. Mares can tell within a week or two of their heat and the doctor confirmed it yesterday morning." The only response I could come up with was to pull her close and kiss her with as much love as I could. When I finally broke the kiss, both of us was breathless.

"I know the perfect way to tell Tia." I had a evil grin on my face.

"Will I like it?"

"Trust me my angel, you'll love it."

I spent the first half of the morning looking for the prop I needed. When I found it, I had it wrapped up as a present, went and got Luna and made our way to the throne room. Day court was underway and to me it was the perfect setting.

Without being announced, we entered and marched up to the throne dias. When Tia looked up she smiled.

"J, LuLu? This is a surprise. What can I do for you."

"The surprise is on you Tia" I said handing her the gift. "Open it." She took it and with a look of confusion opened the box. Inside the box was a blue and pink baby bib that had 'I'll be seeing you soon aunty' on it. I could see the gears turning in her head when she pulled it from the box. When she looked at Luna confused my angel finally spoke.

"Think about it for a minute sister."

When those words registered it was pure comedy. She looked at us then the bib then us again. Tia did that three or four times before her face lit up. I'll do my best to describe what happened next. She started screaming "yes yes yes" then disappeared. The next "yes yes yes" came from the ceiling? Yep, she was trotting across the ceiling cheering over and over 'I'm going to be a aunt'.

When some of the castle staff came in to see what the ruckus was about, one of the maids said flat out.

"I don't get paid enough to clean hoof prints off of the ceiling."

I looked at her grinning. "Nah, leave em. Then we have proof of Celestia hitting the ceiling at least once."
