My Only Chance

A/N i have been asked to try and use a new writing style in which i did, if you all like it this way then i will keep it like this, but if you don't i will switch it back, so just leave a comment on weither or not you like it.

Oh and sorry for the short chapter.

Chapter 9

I just stood there looking out over the city, trying to get control over my nerves. The harder I tried to gain my composure the more I lost it, I mean you would too if you just saw your mom for the last time after giving you a gift like that. I breathed deeply, when an idea popped in my head. I wasn’t the only one that needed to relax and calm down.

“Everypony get ready were going for a trip, Twilight teleport the books to the library in the palace, Luna and Celestia you all are taking off a week from being on that stuffy throne because I can read your body language and I can tell you all are stressed beyond belief, Scootaloo I want you to gather everypony including your two friends and Candance as well as Shining Amour, I’m sure if you ask one of the Princesses they will teleport them here. I’m going to get everything else ready to go.” I stated.

They all were just staring at me with slack jaws. Like I had grown a second head or something.

“Look I can tell everypony is stressed out and it isn’t good for you so we are going to go get rid of it.” I said trying to explain

“Um ok, I will go tell the guard and the advisors to not be expecting us for awhile.” Celestia said.

Finally they all started listening and got to work, Twilight disappeared with the books, while Scootaloo ran off to gather everypony, Luna was just staring at me slacked jacked still, while Sarge just licked himself in the cab of the truck.

“Hey Luna, are you good with maps?” I asked trying to snap her out of her thousand yard stare.

“Oh, umm, yeah I am good with maps, why?” she asked looking a little confused.

“Good I just found myself a navigator, can you get me a map?” I asked walking over to the truck to get it ready.

“Yeah no problem.” She said as she flashed a map right in front of me.

After I thanked her I took the map and unrolled it, I could see that Canterlot was nearly in the center of the map, while Ponyville was in the dead center, off to either side was an ocean or a sea, I decided we were going to go east towards griffin territory.

“Luna I want you to plot a route from here to horseshoe bay. We are going on a vacation!” I yelled in excitement.

I watched as a smile slowly formed on her face as she realized what I said.

“I haven’t gone on a vacation in about 1500 years not including my time on the moon.” She said nearly giggling while jumping up and down.

“Alright if you want you can keep an eye on Sarge for me while I get everything.” I said smiling at her.

“Oh I’d love to watch him.” she said happily.

I opened the door to let Sarge out and he ran straight to Luna, I hopped up in the truck and got ready to turn it over. It had been about Two years since it was really run but I would start it every now and then to keep it from gumming up. I pushed in the clutch and took it out of gear, come on old girl show me you are still with us. I turn the ignition and she roared to life, I gave her a few revs and she sounded as healthy as the day we built her. At first she was a little loud but I flipped a switch to engage the exhaust and mufflers, a little something we put on here in case of noise pollution and a cop pulled us over just flip the switch and the cop can’t do a thing since she goes quite.

While I wasn’t looking Luna walked up to me while I sat in the truck and checked everything.

“Nick I noticed the color of this carriage it almost looks…” she said before she was cut off.

“Your coat, I know it is one of my favorite colors, a darker blue with a gloss to it.” I smiled at her.

She just smiled and nodded, out the corner of my eye I saw everypony coming down the stairs, I turned it off and flipped the switch to see if I could scare somepony later. I got out and closed the door, I walked around to the back and tried to think of a way to carry all of the supplies we were going to need.

‘Wait a minute they have carriages that can float like Celestias, we need something that can float because no wagon wheels are going to be able to take the beating that these tires can, so if we could just hook up a floating carriage we would need to worry about it breaking.’ I thought to myself.

“Hey, Shining, can you get me a floating carriage and take the wheels off?” I shouted towards him. he just snorted and went to one of the guards to get it for him.

About ten minutes later a Pegasus came up with a carriage with no wheels, after me and Twilight modified it a bit all we had to do was put stuff in it to take.

“Celestia can you get the maid or butlers to bring out, some food, cushions, pillows, blankets, and anything else any of the others want?” I asked, as I attached the carriage to the truck.

She nodded and went over to one of her maids, while she did that I noticed everypony was just looking over the truck, I knew it wouldn’t be to long before we left so I got back in the truck and fired it up again. Of course it scared Fluttershy which I didn’t mean for it to but it did, but I also got everypony else that didn’t see it before, I chuckled a little then I flipped the switch to make it quieter so Fluttershy wouldn’t stay scared. Then I noticed the door on the other side opened and on the other side was Rarity with her eyes sparkling at the way the truck looked.

“My, my darling this thing is absolutely fabulous, sheik, stylish, and positively stunning.” She said looking at the way all of the different blues matched with one another.

“Thank you Rarity My grandfather would of loved to hear you say that, he liked simple things so we kept it simple when it came to the colors but we had a bit of fun with everything else.” I said with a knowing smile.

As I sat there I saw that the maid and butler as well as guard started to bring everything out and started to put on the ground since Twilight wanted to organize everything, while she was doing that I decided to run into the palace and grab my rifle in case we needed it, I mean come on I am transporting three Princesses, the Elements of Harmony, and the captain of the royal guard. It is kind of a living nightmare, once I came back out with my gun everything was ready to go and we were ready to leave.

“Ok Twilight those cushions are going to need to go in the bed of the truck so everypony is comfortable, First if someone tries to attack us stay down in the bed of the truck or in the cab unless told otherwise, two, if anything does happen me and Amour will take care of it you just stay down, three if you need to go to the bathroom let me know so I can pull over, so yes you will be going in the woods or on the side of the road, which is fine because we are all grownups here, That includes spike he might be a baby dragon for a hundred years but that doesn’t mean he has the mind set of one, if you get hungry let a unicorn know and they will get you something from the carriage, if the sun become a problem I will fix it. Last and most important rule… HAVE FUN!” I said with a smile.

Once I was done everypony cheered including the Princesses, while Twilight put the cushions in the Bed of the truck I walked over to Shiny because we had something to settle before we leave, I pulled him aside from everypony so no one would hear.

“Look I know we had our difference earlier but everypony needs this including me and you, this Is a vacation for everypony, especially you and Cadance. So what do you say we start over?” I asked looking him in the eye.

“Hey I’m Shining Amour, you?” she asked with a smile.

“I’m Nick, friends?” I asked bumping his hoof.

“Friends.” He replied.

“Oh I almost forgot, SHINE BRIGHT COME HERE!” I yelled at the palace. After a small amount of time she appeared at the top of the stairs.

“Yes, Nick?” she asked.

“Come on you need a vacation as well.” I said waving her over to the truck.

At first she gave an unsure look until Celestia smiled and nodded.

“YES!” she yelled as she came running and hopped in the bed of the truck.

“Luna, Scootaloo you two are up front with me!” I yelled to them.

Once I got in, they hopped in on the other side with Scootaloo in the center while Luna rides shotgun. As I got situated I put the rifle on the mount on the back window while I loaded the new gun my mom gave me and put the holster on my belt, once I was done I slid it in the holster. I looked down to Sarge waiting outside of my door, I patted my lap and he hopped up and lay on my lap. I shut the door and got comfortable.

“Everypony ready?” I asked with a bit of enthusiasm.

“Yeah!” Everypony shouted.

I put the transmission in street mode and flipped another switch on the dashboard, it lowered the truck four inches and made the suspension tighter and harder for better handling, it we came across a bumpy dirt road I would turn it off so none of us got whiplash, that way we would just glide over it.

“So Luna which way?” I asked with a sly smile.

“You want to go to the main gate of the city which is straight down the road, once we get off of the mountain make the first left and stay on it for a long time.” She said laughing.

“Are you ready to have a fun and possibly the best week of your life Scootaloo?” I asked looking deep into her eyes.

She just snuggled up close to me and curled up to get comfortable since it was kinda late.

“EVERYPONY HANG ON!” I laughed manically.

I put the truck in first and dumped the clutch, unleashing all 650 horse power under the hood with the turbos only set on ten lbs of boost, the truck screamed to life and lurched forward gaining speed quickly, as we blew through the streets the guards kept everypony out of the way. Once we made it out of the city I slowed down to a steady sixty mph. I looked back and the look on everyponies face was worth it, while they were holding on for dear life.

“Will someone tell Fluttershy this thing is safe, because she is straggling Rarity back there?” I asked looking in the rear view mirror.

“Don’t worry we will take care of it.” Twilight said as she worked her way to the back.

Everypony was lying down to get comfortable for the night while I would continue to drive, Luna brought up two blankets and pillows for her and Scootaloo, even though said pony was using my leg as a pillow.

“Luna how much longer will I be on this road?” I asked in a whisper.

“Don’t worry, you will be on this road for awhile even after I wake up.” She said lying down to get comfortable.

“Good night everypony.” I said in my normal tone, all I got were a few moans and groans in return.

While we were going through the night Sarge got down on the passenger side floor and slept there, in the process Scootaloo was pretty much lying on my lap which… I don’t know just felt right in some way, even though it was kinda complicated to drive with her there. I could hear the wind rushing by us as well as all the snoring coming from beside me and from the back; finally I decided to drive with just one hand since we were on a good dirt road. With the other I started to stroke Scootaloos mane getting a soft sound that was filled with happiness out of her.

I drove on through the night not stopping for anything, even though I am going to have to keep a secret about the ground hog that I hit and killed. While I was driving Luna and Celestia woke up and started their routine of raising the sun and lowering the moon, which was kinda sad because I didn’t want to see the moon go. Not too long after they all started to wake up, so I slowed down and pulled off to the side. After I came t a stop I took it out of gear, pushed in the parking brake, and turned it off. I got out of the truck and stretched, and then I noticed everypony staring at me.

“What?” I asked after my back cracked.

“I thought we weren’t stopping?” Twilight asked.

“Well if you all don’t want to stretch, use the little fillies room, or want some breakfast we can get moving again.” I said with a smirk. Every single mare blushed, while me, Shining, and spike just laughed.

“Well it looks like he’s got the right idea.” I stated pointing to Sarge who was pissing on a tree.

Everypony hopped out while I lay in the grass and relaxed, they all disappeared in the woods to go relieve themselves. I was exhausted after driving all night since I have been up for about thirty-six hours, and there was at least another fourteen or more to go.
