My Only Chance

Chapter 8

“I would suggest that you all get ready to go in a little bit if you would like to help.” I said turning to face them again. They all nodded, as they started to get up to leave I motioned Twilight over to me. As the others had just finished walking out of the room, I closed the door quickly behind them. “Twilight I kinda want to pull a prank on somepony but I am going to need your help in doing so.” I said looking at her. “What do you need help with?” she asked with a raised eyebrow. “I want you to turn me invisible so I can get the jump on someone that I want to get, can you do it?” I asked her with pleading eyes. “*sigh* fine but if you get caught or get in trouble don’t tell them I had anything to do with it.” She said charging her horn. “Don’t worry I won’t get caught.” I stated proudly.

After I was turned invisible I quickly thanked Twilight and ran out of the room, just in time to as my target disappeared around a corner. I quickly ran after her making as little noise as possible, after I caught up I tailed her for some time till we came to her room which was amazing in every way. I guess it also helps that she is almost tied with Scootaloo when it comes to my favorite. After I made it into her room she closed the door behind her. I was so ready to scare her, even though I might get in some serious trouble in the process. While I was standing there watching her, she was at her desk writing in a very old looking journal. After she was done she started to head to a door on the other side of the room, “I guess I could brush my teeth really quick before we leave.” She stated, I knew that this would be my moment to get her and have a couple of laughs at the end of it all.

She opened the door to the room and walked in, I was close on her heels… or just hooves…I don’t know! I just barely made it in before she closed the door, a second later and I would have been caught. Once I clamed my nerves of almost being caught I took a look around, in doing so I lost track of where my jaw ran off to. This bathroom was massive, it almost looked bigger then her room itself. After I regained control of my composure I looked over at her by the sink brushing her teeth, such elegant and such pristine white teeth. Once she was done she smiled in the mirror showing over her beautiful white teeth. “I wonder if I have time for a quick bath?” she questioned herself. ‘Hmm I wonder how long it will take to fill that massive tub…WAIT! WHAT!?!’ I thought to myself.

Now I was in a panic, I had no idea what to do. I couldn’t just open the door and leave she would notice and call the guards; they would come in scanning the room and find me in seconds. There was nothing I could do but wait till she was done. While she was filling the tub I stood by the sink and looked a couple of things over trying to keep my mind off of what was happening to my right, but I’ll be damned if my curiosity didn’t get the better of me. I looked over and about died, she was just stepping down into her tub slowly as steam slowly rose up off of the water, I just groaned and quickly brought my hands up to my mouth, I quickly looked up and she was looking around the room.

‘SHITshitshitshitshit…OW!’ I thought as a bottle of shampoo busted me in the back of the head and kept flying over to her. ‘Oh she has got to know that I am here now!’ I screamed in my head. But she just continued lathering up her body with the slightly pink suds of the shampoo; it felt like I was drooling all over myself at the moment till I snapped out of it. But thank god it was finally over as she started to rinse everything out of her fur. As she got out she used some kind of spell to take all of the water off of her and placed it in the tub…or small pool. Then I saw her horn glowing yet again, but my thought process was stopped short as I clutched the back of my head as pain rang though out my skull, as I looked back up I was met in the face yet again by the same thing, it was a hard wood brush, but before I could do anything it collided with my nose.

I was standing clutching my nose in pain…again! She was about to walk out the door when I stumbled behind her and waited for her to leave so I could get out of this death trap. As she opened the door I got out without getting noticed; now I only had one door to go. She walked towards her bed chambers doors and opened them; once I got passed I was gone. ‘Screw invisibility it sucks!’ I screamed in my head.

I quickly made it back to my room to find Twilight looking at some of my sketch books. As I got closer I noticed a heavy blush on her face as she flipped through the pages. ‘Please god don’t let it be my rule book?’ I thought to myself. As I got closer I noticed that it was my rule book, it had every piece of clop drawings I had ever drawn, in it. ‘Well might as well get the awkward started.’ I said to myself. As I walked behind Twilight I did what she told me to do if I wanted to end the invisibility spell, I took my hand and put it to my forehead and ran it down the side of my head to my chin. I looked down to see that I could finally see myself again.

“Like what you see?” I ask as I jump up on the bed. “AHHHHHH!” she replied as she bounced on the bed once I landed. Once she came back down and composed herself she looked over to me with a blush that I thought I could feel the heat off of. “Did you draw these?” she asked in a sheepish voice. “Yes I did.” I replied. At first she looked back to the book and flipped another page, then looked back to me. “Why?” she asked. “Well when I get bored of drawing something, I decide to draw something a bit more steamer, as you can see.” I said. As she was about to ask something else the door opened and the book disappeared, I looked to Twilight, “That book better be ok because I out a lot of sleepless hour, hard work, and heart into those pictures.” I whispered to her, she just responded in a nod.

“So are you all ready to go to earth? It should be about to hit noon there, it has also been about thirty-eight days.” I said looking to everypony. They all nodded and then there was a bright flash, I was standing in my living room. I noticed that teleporting in didn’t make a sound. As I took in my surrounding I could hear light sobbing, I knew it was my mom. She was in the kitchen sobbing over me disappearing. I motioned for them to stay back while I go in and talk to her. I knew this next part was going to be a little dramatic but it should be since the bathroom and my room’s walls were destroyed and everything in my room was missing.

I walked into the kitchen quietly, I saw my mom by the table sobbing with a cup of coffee. I cleared my throat and her sobbing stopped, she slowly turned her head towards me. Once she saw me I saw all of the color drain from her face. She stood up and I walked over to her, I stopped about two feet away leaving some distance between us. She slowly raised a hand towards my face, at first it lingered in the air for awhile before it made contact, once it did I could see a smile slow start to form on her lips. She quickly brought me into a hug and started crying yet again but this time they were tears of joy, I embraced her back and hugged her tightly.

After about a half an hour of hugging I sat her down in a seat and took one next to her since I had to break some good news and some bad news. “Well at least your happy that I’m ok.” I stated as I looked at her. “You don’t even understand how happy I am. But what happened, why was half of the upstairs destroyed and everything in your room was missing?” She stated. After about an hour of going over the story she just looked at me like I’m crazy. “You don’t believe me do you?” I asked. She just shook her head. “*sigh* well that is why I brought some back up here to assist me, but you have to promise me that you won’t freak out.” I stated. “I promise.” She replied. By the way she was looking at me I could tell she was ready to call the loony wagon to come pick me up and take me to the fun house.

“Girls, if you could come in please?” I asked. As first there was no answer and the look on my mother’s face started to scare me, like she was going to knock me out and take me herself. “Alright.” Responded Celestia, As soon as I heard her voice I let out a breath I didn’t know I was holding in. The voice startled me mother, now she was looking at me like this can’t be true. Then in walked Celestia, Luna, Twilight, and Scootaloo. They all took a seat at the table while I just stared at my mother; she showed no emotion what so ever. She looked over at me then her jaw dropped, I could no longer take it and started to burst out laughing.

Eventually after I calmed down I took a deep breath, while my mother was finally starting to take things in slowly. “So does this mean that you are going to be coming back home?” she asked. This is the part that I just wanted to avoid altogether, but thankfully Celestia took over for me. “I am sorry to say but that will not be possible, for now he must live in Equestria.” She said in a motherly and calming tone. “Why?” My mother asked. “The reason why is he is now tied to Myself, Luna, and Equestria herself. The reason why, is he died and we brought him back to life, I will not lie, while he was dying I decided not to bring him back since I didn’t know whether or not he could bring harm to my subjects, but after some convincing I decided that he should have a chance to prove himself, but the only way to bring him back was to bind him with us and the land herself.” Celestia explained.

“Then why are you here?” my mother asked. “Because I wanted to come back and get something to remember my family by, I just didn’t want to forget how I grew up or who raised me, so I came back to get something that everyone had a hand on in the family.” I said holding my mother’s hand. I could tell that she knew what I wanted to take back with me. “You want papa’s truck don’t you?” she asked as her eyes started to tear up. I got up and hugged her tightly. “Yes I want grandpas truck, not only because he willed it to me but because everyone in the family had a hand in building it, what better to remember your family by then something that everyone helped build, and yes to answer the question you are going to ask me, I will take care of it like it were a child to me.” I said tightening my grip in the hug.

“Of course you can have it, he did give it to you after all, and I myself couldn’t think of anything better for you to remember me or the family by, and yes you better take good care of it since everyone invested blood, sweat, and tears into that fine piece of machinery.” She said letting go of the hug. “I’m sorry Nick but we don’t have much time left.” Celestia stated. I looked over and saw both Luna and Celestia wince in pain as they tried to hold the spell. “Oh one more thing mom about the private library…” I was cut off by her. “Yes take every book in there I was about to redo that room into something else anyway.” She said smiling. I ran to the garage door and opened it, there sat the 1980 Chevy c10 pickup that everyone helped build and it was quite the monster. It had the perfect size tires, a custom transmission that my grandfather himself built, a 454 big block that was furl injected, dual turbo chargers that could take up to 40 lbs of boost each and not one but three different radiators to keep the monster inside of it cool.

“Twilight come with me quick before we run out of time.” I stated on my way to the library. She quickly followed right behind me at the mention of library. I quickly made it to the library, which was easily two maybe even three times the size of Twilight. Once I opened the door and she got a look inside she froze at the amount of book that hung on the walls. “Twilight we don’t have time be stunned later.” I said quickly knocking her out of her stupor. “Just start transport the entire stock of the libraries books to the bed of the truck, ok?” she nodded and books started flying out of the door. I quickly ran back to the kitchen to see mom talking to the three of them. “Oh, Nick what are you going to about Sarge?” At first it through me for a loop I can’t believe I forgot about my dog. “Um Celestia is it alright if we bring someone else?” I ask her. “I don’t see why not.” She smiled.

“Sarge, komm!” I yelled into the house. “Nick, what did you just say?” Luna asked. “I told him to ‘come’ in German. Which is kind of funny since he is part German Sheppard and part wolf.” I said with a smile. Not a second later he was right at my feet standing and wagging his tail. “Sitz.”I said to him in which he sat. “Luna wave to him.” I said to her. She started to wave, in which I pointed at her and he followed my hand to her and looked at her. “Go give her Kuss.“ I said to him. He ran straight at her and jumped on her and started to assault her face with his tongue making her fall on the ground. We all started to laugh at her and him while she was giggling. “Nick why do you speak to him in German?” Celestia asked. “I speak some words in German because it is the language of discipline, he knows if I say a word in German he has to do it, I have just trained him like that, it is better for me and him that way.” I replied.

After a little while Twilight trotted into the kitchen. “Alright all of the book are in the truck.” She stated. “I hope you were careful because eighty percent of the books are first editions and autographed.” I said to her. She visually gulped. “Twilight don’t let him get at you like that, I’m sure you were very careful with the books. And besides Nick is a big softy.” My mother said to her. “HA, tell that to her brother.” I laughed. “Twilight what did Nick do to our brother?” she asked. “He knocked him out with a single punch and he is captain of the royal guard, but he had it coming for the way he was acting.” She said with a smile. My mom just gave me a dirty look and I just held my hands up in defense.

“Well mom I guess this is it.” I stated with a hint of sadness in my voice, she hugged me. “Oh I almost forgot your birthday present.” She said running in the house. I turned back to everypony waiting by the truck with Sarge in the cab of the truck while Luna Stood on her hind legs with a foreleg on the truck petting him. My mom came running back out with a black wooden box in her hands; she handed it to me and told me to open it. I turned it towards me and opened the box inside was a combat knife with ‘semper pugnare…’ engraved on it, it was beautiful craftsmanship; I could tell it was made by hand and not a machine. Also in the box was a Colt 45 1911a1 that was silver and had ‘…pro his quos amas’ engraved in gold. I was on the verge of tears just looking at these. I closed it and put it in the truck, and then I came back to my mom and wrapped her in the tightest huge ever. “I love you mom and I will miss you.” I said fighting back the tears. “I love you and will miss you to son.” She said sobbing.

Seeing this Celestia walked up to us. “Excuse me but I have a gift for you.” She said to my mom. I saw her pluck a piece of her hair with magic and bring it over to her. “This is a piece of my ethereal mane, with it if you make a loop out of it and touch it you can see whatever it is you wish to see, but once you die it will return to me and become part of me once again. Also the time difference in this world will not matter you will see him if you want in real time.” She said holding it in front of her. My mother grabbed it and lunged at Celestia giving her a hug, Celestia happily returned it. “Thank you.” She said to Celestia. “You are welcome, but we must go now for I can no longer hold this spell with my sister.” Celestia said to her in a very tired voice. My mother stepped back and watched us as we got ready to leave. “Bye mom.” I said to her. “Bye son and take care of yourself and your friends.” She said giving a point to Luna and Scootaloo then winking. I just rolled my eyes “Will do.” And then we were in front of the palace with a flash.
