The yaks and buffalos are reduced to cattle and griffons are the middle class society, not slaves but barely treated differently from them. The rest of the being’s on this country haves it just as bad, if not worse.

Ok, so here we have a colt that learns about the elements of harmony from his mother. A few years later she was killed and that when the kid knew this world was way to Bucked up to be real. Or rather, he knew that somepony needed to do something about it. Adopted by a griffon and for the next decade the pony honed his talents, preparing to search for the Elements.
