Chapter 1

"Applejack?!"

"Whoa, AJ, hey, this isn't--.. wait, Rares, why are you panicking?!"

"Please darling, Dash was just helping me with this new outfit!"

"WHAT?! Hey, you never said anything about--!"

Applejack's face was blank, in complete shock, zoning out as she stood there. Just staring at her girlfriend on top of her best friend, both in their panties. Only that. She just stares, piecing everything together very slowly, until it all hits her like a freight train.

Rarity, her girlfriend since their victory at The Battle of the Bands. The girl she has given everything to, from her first hand-holding to her first single person sleepover, her first kiss to her first time, has been cheating on her with her best friend. Rarity was fucking Rainbow Dash behind her back. She blinks for the first time in five minutes, swallowing a growing lump in her throat, finally acknowledging the two girls frantically arguing about what she has already figured out.

All she can do is turn around and walk out. Slowly, down the hallway of Rarity's boutique. Down the stairs. Out the door. There, she picks up her speed and starts to run. Applejack didn't look back, she just wanted to get home. Pretend none of this happened. Pretend her life was still headed in the perfect direction, and not off-roading toward a cliff.

At the boutique, Rarity stood in a loose shirt, texting Applejack frantically. Rainbow Dash sat on the bed, glaring at Rarity, lacing up her sneakers. The athlete stood, zipping her skirt and grabbing her backpack.

"Later, Rarity," Dash spoke as she walked to the door.

"Wait, you're not staying?" The fashionista asked, turning away from her phone.

"No, 'I was just helping you', right? You don't need anymore help, right?" Rainbow seethed, looking Rarity in the eyes.

"Rainbow Dash, please, I need you here. I can't deal with this alone!" Rarity looked at her, hurt displayed on her face.

"You didn't tell me you and AJ were dating, Rares! I just betrayed my best friend, and you lied to me!" she yelled, storming to Rarity and getting in her face.

"It wasn't obvious enough?! It's been on MyStable for three years!"

"You told us all that was just a joke! How was I supposed to know you were serious?!"

"Well, I'm sorry we aren't public about our affection! She never wanted to be."

"Oh wow, she never wanted to be public? So you cheat? How low can you be Rares?"

Suddenly, a hand connected with Rainbow Dash's face, and she was left with a red imprint on her right cheek.

Stunned, the athlete gritted her teeth, "Did you just hit me?"

The seamstress stood, looking at the red mark on her once lover. "R-Rainbow Dash, I.. I didn't mean to, you were insulting me, darling."

"Drop the darling bullshit, Rares. I'm leaving. Fix this yourself. I gotta try to repair my friendship."

The rainbow-haired athlete stormed out, slamming each door she passed through, leaving Rarity there to cry alone, contemplating her life.

Applejack sat in her dark room, looking through the messages Rarity was sending her. Apologies, begging, pleading, sobbing, crying, the whole nine yards. Supposedly. She could have been lying about that, too. The apple farmer couldn't believe it, her most trusted friend, her once-true love.. both betrayed her. Who knows how many times? How could she ever forgive them, after what they did?

'What did Ah do to deserve this?'

Nothing, she did nothing. She had taken Rarity to the fancy-schmancy parties she asked to attend, she had played the part of a lady, wore a dress and even played a model in her fashion shows. The farmer looked at the phone as it lit up, messages of knowledge that Applejack had left her on 'Seen'. She groaned, grabbing the pillow she had been sobbing into and throwing it across the room. She did everything to be a great girlfriend, everything. Why did Rarity do this? Did she not put out enough? Did she not perform well enough? Was she just not as good as she thought?

'No.'

She didn't do anything wrong, Rarity did. Rarity fucked Rainbow Dash, not her. She would never forgive her, not for this. They were promised to each other, for fuck's sake. She had asked to be her promise forever, that they'd be married someday. They'd be the high school sweethearts of Canterlot High. Not anymore.

Applejack wiped the tears from her freckled cheeks, grabbing her phone and going straight to MyStable. She went into her profile, staring at the bold words on her phone.

In a relationship with Rarity.

She bit her lip, choking back tears as she clicked the declaration of her relationship to be over. The sound effect of glass shattering left her phone, and a broken heart emoji showed up by the status update.

"Applejack is now single." posted a few seconds ago.

"God damn right Ah am," she choked out, sniffling hard.

She threw her phone, face down to not see the light of Rarity's messages, and smashed her face back into the pillow.

'Ah never cry, not on the outside. Why am Ah crying now? Ah'm the strong one, what would this show Apple Bloom? C'mon AJ, suck it up. She obviously didn't deserve ya, if she gone and done that!'

Nevertheless, Applejack's tears fell. She tried to suck it up, but that only made her eyes burn and her throat seem to suffocate her. With a broken choke, the farmer just let out the agony, the pain, and everything she had been holding in. In a single night, the past 3 years had been broken. Her nights talking with Rarity and imagining her future, their future, had been erased. Not from memory, but from any further existence. She had spent so many hours, days, weeks, years on the fashionista, it almost seemed as though it all meant nothing to Rarity. Like she had kept AJ around to tell her she was beautiful and give her attention.

Through a choked sniffle, Applejack spoke to no one in particular, "Well, at least Ah know she isn't just an attention whore now, she's a real one, too."

That outburst only made her cry harder, grabbing her pillow to muffle a scream of anguish. She lifted her head enough to peek at her alarm clock.

11:49 PM.

She groaned into the pillow, it muffled by the cushion. Usually, Rarity would call her at 9 PM so they could fall asleep together. That's the only thing that could help her through her insomnia. She would talk to her until Applejack fell under the sandman's spell, then stay on the line. When she missed the call tonight, Applejack knew something terrible must've happened. Three years with no change, their routine set like a beautiful ritual, and suddenly her phone call was missing? AJ knew something happened.

She just didn't know she'd be the one hurting.

With a sleepless night inbound, and a day of school to get to tomorrow, the blonde farmgirl's stress led her to another sobbing fit, realizing everything that once was keeping her in schedule, and quite possibly alive, was utterly fucked up. She'd go back to suffering from her insomnia, her depression, her overworking, her piles of stress that Rarity just seemed to melt away. Only now, she was alone again.

'Ah should've seen this comin'. Everyone I depend on and love leaves.'

With that thought, Applejack curled into her pillow, continued her sobbing, and listened to the soft voice in her head that loved to blame her for everything wrong in her life. Maybe this time, it was right.

Sonata Dusk sat at her computer, watching a video on Hooftube. Some girl was doing a stupid skit with a phallic toy and a waffle-iron.

"Why am I watching this?" the middle siren inquired aloud, her older sister groaning.

"You ask that now, after 5 hours of her videos. Shut. It. Off."

The blue girl looked at her sister, mocking her groaning before she closed the tab. She checked MyStable, looking through her feed before turning in for the night.

"Hey, Dagi! It looks like those girls we were beat by are having some trouble."

"Why do you know that?" Adagio Dazzle asked, peeking out from under the arm draped over her eyes.

"I follow the pink one, she's kinda cute," Sonata replied, giggling. "It looks like the farmer and the diva are split up now."

Adagio sat up quickly. "What?"

"The farmer and the diva are spli-- AAH!" Sonata was cut off as her older sister shoved her out of the seat, looking at the screen. Bright as day, it was right there.

"Applejack is now single."

Ignoring Sonata's questions of why the "heck" she pushed her out of the chair, Adagio's face threatened to split in half from the size of her trademark grin.

"This will work perfectly," the eldest siren continued to grin, her mind already plotting an intricate plan of how to destroy the girls that destroyed her.

There was silence in the room before Sonata spoke up.

"Who are you talking to?"
