Chapter Eighty-six Wicker's journey The land of legends. [Fiveth lock.]

Previous ChapterNext Chapter

There is a door in Ponyland. It leads to a wondrous land of stories and legends. Robin Hood has many human stories. Since the end of this world, we haven’t even seen what is on the other side. Do they even know what happened here? Will they even remember the ponies of old or Megan herself? There are times we will never know. Then it will be harder for us to understand them. Maybe we will? I am the only one who remembers them now and the ponies who used to be here are long dead.

Wicker’s room

Majesty didn’t wish us to be in the same room as those we loved unless we were married. Since Gizmo and I aren’t married, she separated us, and I understand why. It’s normal for the Sea Raiders since sometimes lust can cause many problems. With Gizmo I don’t just feel lust, I feel deep love. Same with Oil. But again as I understand Gizmo is just being who she is she doesn’t care honestly.

While I polish my moon-touched club, I allow my sea-raider outfit to dry. I wear this outfit a lot, and it’s been with me since I became one of them. I glance over at the pistol and the sword I use. But this club is impressive. A knock sounds on the door.

“It’s open.”

Turning the chair, I see Majesty walk into the room. A weak smile forms across my face, and I chuckle.

“What can I do for you Majesty?”

Majesty looks over at my coat and she laughs.

“Well, Wicker, it's good to see you again. I never expected to see one of those I worked with when I used to hunt for slavers when I was bored.”

I chuckle

“Yes, when I learned you’re the creator of Ruby and her species. I didn’t wish to tell her we worked together a few times. But thankfully to end the lives of creatures like slavers and so on. Now I am not unhappy you forced me and Gizmo into different rooms. But why is Rock-Back and Joona together? They aren’t married yet.”

Majesty chuckles.

“Well, Rock-Back and Joona care about each other. It doesn’t mean they’re together yet. Joona is not ready for love and such yet. Rock-Back is more her guardian than anything. I know they act like they’re in love. But deep down, both are unsure and want to protect the other. But that is not why I am here.”

I let out a chuckle.

“Then why are you here?”

Majesty sighs.

“The demon of the sea spoke to me recently. Wicker you have been asking too much of him. He won’t be able to help you when you finally return. At least not as much as he will let you. But he has been to the desert and saw what Wheel Tread plans to do. He will break his own rules when the time is right.”

I knew I had been asking too much of the demon of the sea. I know this fully well. I want to cuss in my old tongue. Since I know very little about how to speak like a Kirin, I may go to the land of ours.

“But there is one other reason I am here. I know the place you’re heading to in your journey. It’s called the Land of Legends.”

I lift my head blinking the land of legends?! I heard a story of the land of legends. A land full of stories written by humans from the other world. I remember stories of them thinking our world is dreamed up by druids. Of course, they learned truthfully this world is real and not a dream of a druid cult. But most wonder why humans are in Dream Valley. They’re what remains of that druid cult who ran from being killed in the past.

“Is there a reason one of the locks is there?”

Majesty sighs.

“I think it’s because the ponies opened the door in the past. They traded and gave many things to them. The stories haven’t been seen in so long. The only way you can find the remaining books is through the ruins of the Estate. I know many of the books survived there. There are even ponies who write the stories now. There is a rumor they have a magic connection with Megan’s world. If this is true this needs to end. Bringing another human to this world to fight for us. Is what caused most of the issues with the judges, to begin with.”

Those words hit me hard. The bigger reason for what the judges did in the past. Because of the humans trying to find a way into our world. No one knows but for many of the raider factions, it’s an old story most of us know from lost stories.

I knew this because of my mother's great-grandmother. She was one of the ponies of this land. I was born on that ship Ruby and the others destroyed. I would have been more angry about them destroying my home. But I knew full well that if I fought back, I would have lost more than memories of my life. Now, I must be ready to take on or fight what the humans created in the past. I stood up, using my magic to gather my gear and weapons.

“When do you think I will be going?”

As if it was fate I hear a door opening up and I let out a sigh and chuckle.

“It seems to be correct now?”

Majesty nods.

“I warn you there has been no communication from the land of legends since the old times. We have no idea what is going on there. So it’s best to be prepared for what you might face there. I hope you understand this.”

I took a deep breath, and I understood. This is a land made by humans who need stories and need to imagine a world better than theirs. Sometimes, though, these stories are more violent than their world, and I don’t enjoy seeing that.

“Wicker.”

I turn around, staring at Majesty wondering what she needed.

“Yes?”

Majesty lifts a strange bag in her magic offering it to me.

“I would like you to give this to Robin Hood if you find him. He will know what it means and he will understand. If he follows this he will be able to join the rest of you and the others of the land will be able to fight with you. But only a certain group of them can follow, not all of them.”

I look at the bag in my magic. I don’t understand why she wants these figments of stories to come and fight for Ruby. I doubt they will be able to go back very easily. Unless there is something in this bag.

“Alright, Majesty, I won't ask. Maybe I will try to understand what you want me to do with this and why the lock is in this land anyway.”

Majesty sighs.

“Maybe you could ask again if they did a lot of trading before they had to go back. Now get going we have no idea if the plans Wheel Tread wishes to do back on the island are going to wait for us. It might be too late before you and the others get back. I will be joining in this final battle. Then I know when the time comes. When Grogar finally returns I will have the final battle with Ruby. I am not looking fond of killing her. Because she won’t be able to beat me unless she does something to trigger my end.”

I let out a sigh. I knew what she meant. I don’t know who I will have to fight. I fear it might be the demon of the sea. I know he will join Grogar in the battle ahead, and I fear that’s what I will have to deal with. I head downstairs, seeing those who remain.

Sterling and the others. I glance over at Beezen.

“Beezen do you have a door to go through?”

Beezen chuckles.

“Thankfully no. I will be meeting you at the very end of the journey. I hope you’re willing to fight whatever you meet in your journey. It will join with the final battle for the Avatar of the Stars. Be prepared and I know it’s not going to be an easy battle.”

I shook my head.

“Lovely. Now I need to head on my journey.”

I walk into my door. It closes behind me and the cavern is pure darkness. I look back and use my horn to light the place. I take a deep breath blowing out heated breath with a bit of smoke. I feel my stress added to my anger. Since we Kirins turn into Nirks when we get angry.

The land of legends.

I heard stories of this land so long ago. It’s one of the things that kept us going during our days at sea. The stories of humans and ponies working together. I heard ages ago some of these stories are not fake though some are real as in the history of the humans in the other land. I took a deep breath when I came out of the cave. I glance at the sign near the cavern. Welcome to Sherwood Forest.

The forest Robin Hood stayed in with his men or whatever. I am unsure I don’t remember the story fully. I follow the path noticing something strange is going on. I go deeper into the forest and I see a grave marker. I read it to myself. ‘Here lies Robin Hood, may he live forever in our stories.’ I hear a sound in the bushes. Suddenly a group of humans comes out of the bushes and they aim their arrows at me.

One of them is dressed like Robin Hood in the old stories. I look back at the grave marker and then back at the man.

“So you’re not dead.”

The man blinks, lowering his bow.

“A pony? A pony from DreamValley right? My father told me many stories about your kind and a young lady named Megan. Why did you come? Is there a reason?”

I set down the bag.

“Majesty sent me to find the lock of the heart of Dream Valley. I was told that it is here.”

The young man lowers his hat nodding.

“Yes.. but I am not Robin Hood, I am his son. My father and mother died years ago by the king of England. Most of the heroes have become villains; he was the only one who didn’t become One. Now you wish to find the door? I know the location it’s in a cavern not far from here. But I have a feeling from what is in this bag you want my help too correct?”

One of the men takes the bag and gives the note to Robin Hood. He reads it nodding.

“It seems so. I can’t help you while the land of legends is still like this. You won’t have to go on a long hard journey though. This thing or whatever it is has corrupted all the heroes of legend. I..”

Before he could finish the ground shakes and they begin to hide and I follow them. We see a giant man with an ax and a blue ox. I stare at the two creatures as they walk by. There is blood on the ax and the ox has bloody horns.

“Paul Bunyan and his Ox Babe. They guard this tree in the forest. I know the location of the tree. I warn you though it’s not going to end well. Are you sure you still wish to help us?”

I glance up at the men.

“I never said I would but I fear if I don’t the land of legends will never be able to have a book written ever again. Am I correct?”

Robin Hood smiles.

“This land resets when all the heroes die. It will happen again. But I want my father to live again without this tree being here. It has poisoned our world. It’s a strange creation from your land. It poisoned us because of the magic I am told.”

I shake my head oh wonderful now I have to worry about an old creation of Dream Valley now I have to deal with it.

“Question items like this bag will they cause issues?”

Robin Hood looks at the bag shaking his head.

“No stuff like this won’t. I warn you though the place the door is in for the lock. Is protected by the reset. After we destroy the tree. The land will start resetting and if you’re stuck in it you will become one with this land. So when the tree is close to being destroyed, run towards the north of the tree. You will find the cavern.”

Robin Hood takes the bag, giving it to one of his men.

“Take this to Father's old case and place it inside. He will open it and understand what it means.”

The man quickly gets on his horse riding off.

“Come let's go and I warn you. If the dragon shows up run.”

I am confused, staring at the young Robin Hood.

“What do you mean by dragon?”

We run off while we speak towards the tree.

“Back when a wizard created the door to our land. It was to trap a dragon who became our friend thanks to Megan and the others. But he has been corrupted by the tree. When this land resets he will reset with it. We may need to finally kill him. It will take him longer to reset and form him back into an egg.”

I don’t understand this land. But I understand what it means by reset. It’s like when the one who writes the book writes a new story to replace the older story. The ponies do this as well. They create stories and then they sometimes get updated and then lose the real idea of what is going on. The moment things update sometimes the real point of the story is lost.

It took us at least a few hours to get to the tree. I don’t know why it took so long. But I started to notice each time we made a path to it a genie from one of the stories did so much to stop us. I got tired of it. So I took my gun as the genie formed and tried to laugh.

“Really?! You think you can kill me?!”

I just stood there as the genie laughed. I fought many creatures like him during my time with the raiders. So I armed myself with magic-killing bullets aimed at his head. While he laughs it blasts a hole through his head the genie bleeds magic groaning.

“But….I can’t…die.”

The poor genie began falling apart and turning to dust. I put my gun away back in its holster. The arrows didn’t work for Robin Hood. I turn to stare at Robin Hood he is bleeding from a large wound and he will die no matter what we do.

“I knew this would be the end of me. We are there. Let me take care of this then.”

Robin Hood reaches into his bag and brings out a large bomb.

“Go.. get to the cavern quickly.”

I nod and quickly trot off as Robin Hood as he dies, lights the bomb and leans on the tree. He looks up at the tree and weakly smiles.

“I do this for you father..”

I get as far away as I can and the bomb goes off and the entire forest starts screaming and screeching. I hear screams from those still living in this land. While a strange magic portal sucks in whatever is left. I feel the suction coming for me. While story creatures fly past me. I see a man with a strange hat and a rabbit singing a very un birthday. After a while I get to the cavern and I watch while the entire land turns dark and empty.

After a while I see trees slowly growing again while the stories are being rewritten again. I look towards the door and the lock. Looking back out the trees slowly grow as I stare at them. I need to get ready for the final battle in this land. I insert my hoof into the lock hearing the lock turn, closing my eyes, panting softly from the pain and passing out while I allow my leg to stay in the lock.

Max level.
