The Friendship Games
Chapter 3: Partial Answer
Previous ChapterNext ChapterAfter they made it to the library and explained what happened, they all started looking around on the shelves to see if they can connect anything that Aldon and Sunset said. Sunset started pacing while Aldon was sitting on the desk, thinking to himself of the girl feeling as if she was… familiar.
“She was definitely doing something to the statue or was going to.”
“Do you think she came through the portal from Equestria?” Fluttershy said while petting a bunny from her backpack.
“No, I’m pretty sure I would’ve noticed that. I think she was from over here.”
“Well, that’s a relief. The last thing we need is another magical so and so bent on world domination coming over from Equestria.” Applejack said, leaning back on the chair and winking to Sunset as she smirked in response, remembering the Fall Formal.
“Agreed. I have no interest fighting against the powers of evil magic. The wear and tear on my wardrobe are just too much to keep up with.”
Elu walked over to Aldon and tapped him on the shoulder as he shook his head and looked at him, “You okay man? You’ve been thinking about whatever for the past,” checks his watch, “3 and half minutes.”
“Oh, I’m fine. It’s just... that girl looked familiar.”
“Well, we’ll find out soon enough. Just give it some time,” fakes coughs and mutters, “And a little bit of foreshadowing,” speaks normal again, “And everything should be revealed later today.”
“Wait, what did you say?”
“What?”
“That... oh nevermind. You’re always one to speak randomly just as Pinkie.” El smiled in response
“Still, a mysterious figure snooping around the portal? I mean, don’t you want to know what she was up to?”
“Oh, I never want to guess.”
“Well, you don’t have to.” Rainbow says, going to the group with Danto.
“Because me and Dash figured out who it was.”
“Oh, oh, the Night Time Statue Cleaner? A Magical Portal Maintenance Maintainer? A Gardener?!” Pinkie smiled at both of them, seeing if she got a correct answer.
“Seeing how they got off the bus from the city, they got on the bus heading TO the city. I bet they go to-”
“Crystal Prep.” Everyone said, except Sunset, Aldon, Rainbow, and Danto.
“Yep. With the Friendship Games starting tomorrow, they'd totally try to prank us by defacing the Wondercolts statue.”
“Why would anyone take a bus all the way from the city for that?”
“Because the Crystal Prep Shadowbolts are our biggest rivals?”
“Because that's just what the students at Crystal Prep would do?”
“Because even though they beat us in everything –” Rainbow shows Sunset the book, flipping through the pages, “soccer, tennis, golf – they still have to gloat!” she flipped to the next page, showing the statue of CHS dressed as a clown. Aldon and his friends couldn’t help but laugh a small bit seeing the statue representing the school dressed as a entertainment figure for a carnival.
“Seems kind of silly to me.”
“Silly?!” Everyone said, then looking at her in disbelief.
“So, I’m guessing the Friendship Games are silly too.” Rainbow said as Aldon stood up and spoke get their attention.
“Okay, let’s take it easy everyone. Look, at least we’re not going against magic this time so that’s a relief.”
“No, we’ll be fighting against a school of meanies. Not everything has to be magical to be important.”
“You’re right and I’m sorry. I know it’s a big deal.” Sunset said, getting their attention for a second.
“That's putting it mildly, darling. They're still revamping the playing field in preparation.”
“I just don't understand why there's this big rivalry. Aren't the ‘Friendship Games’ supposed to be about our two schools getting along?”
“Well, it's kinda hard to get along with someone who beats you at everything.”
“Not anymore! This time, things are gonna be different.”
“What do you mean?”
“Don’t worry about that yet. Me and Dash have that covered. Just make your way to the gym. Trust us.” Danto said as both of them smirked and left the library.
“Well, let’s go see what they’re planning then if they’re going to tell us to do something.” they all started making their way to the gymnasium.
