Chapter 2

A sqaud of marines came to a stop, panting heavily with their faces caked with sweat. “That wasn’t so bad.” one of them laughed as he sat on the ground, to catch his breath. The others took a few sips from their canteens.

“Alright ladies, drop down and give me twenty!” A voice called from behind them.

“Yes Gunnery Sergeant!” The five dropped and began counting. They had barely made it to six before the crackling of lightning brought them to their feet. The squad turned to see a portal of some type opening up above the ground.

“Slipspace rupture take cover!” Everyone quickly dove behind some nearby boulders as they watched the portal increase in size before dropping something out of it and disappearing. The squad looked at what had fallen out, it appeared to be a very brightly colored pony with wings and a horn. Unsure they moved from their cover towards her.

Twilight slowly sat up placing a hoof to the side of her head, “Ow…ow…wh-where am I?” She wondered as she looked around before noticing several black armored figures coming out from behind the large boulders. She studied them closely, trying to figure out what they are. “They wear armor, are they soldiers? But they walk on two legs, I don’t know any races besides the Minotaur's who walk on two legs. But these creatures are so small and don’t appear to have any horns or wings. If only I had a quill and ink.”

They all stopped several meters away from the purple pony watching her slowly. “Gunny it’s a fucking Alien and it’s dangerous we should take it out!” One of the marines growled as he raised his rifle.

He pushed the rifle barrel down shaking his head as they moved closer trying to get a better view of this literal purple pony who appeared to have wings and a horn. “She is a unicorn and a Pegasus interesting.”

One of the marines moved ahead of the group, slowly sitting down a few feet away watching Twilight. Her head tilted to the side as she looked at the stunned alicorn.

“Rowan get back here, we don’t know if it’s dangerous or not!” The aggressive marine shouted as he raised his rifle again before the Gunny could stop him.

She ignored what he was saying and smiled at Twilight behind her visor, “Shh, shh, it’s alright. He may sound like a jerk but he’s a good guy.” Rowan laughed and slowly started to pet the nervous alicorn, sliding her hand against her multi-colored mane.

At first Twilight wanted to pull away when the creature moved to touch her, but as soon as she realized that it was simply petting her and not attempting to cause her any harm, her rational mind relaxed before going into panic mode again as the creature pulled her into a somewhat uncomfortable hug. “These creatures sure have a funny way of meeting a new race.” She thought as she shifted so that the creature’s armor wasn’t digging into her breast.

Twilight looked into the face plate of the small creature, blushing slightly as she spoke softly, “Could you please let go, it’s a little hard to breathe.”

The corporal let go and laughed nervously, “Im sorry.” She removed her helmet rubbing the back of her head, “I wasn’t expecting you to talk.”

Twilight sat up onto her haunches as she brushed herself off, “Why wouldn’t I be able to? I’ve been able to talk since I was little.” She smiled at the pale creature as she was examining her mane that was put into a net bun behind her head, and her small pale blue eyes. “So um…. if don’t mind me asking, who and what are you?”

She shook her hand, “No need to be nervous, my name is Rowan Nighthawk and I’m an ODST, but if you mean species, then I am a Homo Sapien or human.”

Twilight’s right eye began to twitch as she half shouted at the soldier, “Hu…Human? But you’re supposed to be a myth!”

Rowan chuckled, sitting in front of the alicorn, “Says the walking, talking, purple, winged unicorn.”

Twilight suppressed a low growl, smiling through it, “It’s lavender. My coat is lavender and I’m not a winged unicorn, I am an alicorn.”

Her squad walked up, with their sergeant crouching down by them, “I guess first contact is going alright, even though we broke so many rules when you hugged her.”

“Yea gunny, apparently she thought Humanity was a myth.” she smiled pointing at Twilight

He suppressed a laugh,”Oh that’s rich. But anyways, my name is Gunnery Sergeant Kyle Lee.”

Twilight raised herself to her full height and bowed her sead slightly, “My name is Twilight Sparkle, Princess of Friendship.

Rowan jumped into the squad faster then any of them thought possible as the five of them straightened up and saluted. “Ma’am!”

Their Sergeant stepping out from the squad, clearing his throat with a cough, “I know we didn’t start this out properly but on behalf of the United Nation Space Command, I would like to welcome you to the planet Reach, Princess Twilight Sparkle.” He smiled and bowed while his squad kept the salute

Blushing heavily, Twilight raised her hoof to her head and returned the salute, “At ease. I’m still uncomfortable with being announced or addressed as Princess, please just Twilight unless we’re in front of your superiors.”

The gunny nodded as he walked up to her and placed his hand on her shoulder before standing and backing a step, “So how did you get here Twilight?”

She smiled and spread her hooves in front of her and fell into ‘Story’ mode. First telling a bit about her world and then explaining the arrivals of the ancient tomes and how she had immediately found the spell to travel between different dimensions and worlds.

“So you’re from another dimension/world, that explains why you’re so colorful and cute.” Rowan chuckled as she fidgeted in place, fighting the urge to pet Twilight's mane some more.

Twilight nodded and looked up at Lee , “Oh that reminds me," She pointed to the ODST that had first come close, "Rowan mentioned that you were ODSTs, what does that mean?”

The gunny laughed and pointed to the sky, before bringing his hand down into a fist, “We are Orbital Drop Shock Troopers, elite special forces.”

“Orbital Drop. You mean you fall from space? Humanity has achieved space travel, how when, how does your armor protect you?” She began asking questions faster then Lee or Rowan could respond. As she walked around them, looking and poking their armor, lifting what she could on them with her magic as her scientific mind began going into overdrive as she tried to figure everything out.

Rowan held her hands out grabbing Twilight lightly by her cheeks, “Woah there, slow down Twilight. Humanity has been in space for almost six centuries, but only in the last five have we expanded from our home solar system. Yes we fall from space, but we do so in special drop pods to keep us safe.” She let go as Twilight smiled and stopped talking.

But as soon as she was let go she began walking around the squad poking at their armor again, talking to herself before several sonic booms were heard above at a higher pitch that the squad didn’t notice. She looked up and pointed with her hoof, “Hey Lee what are those purple things?”

They looked up and Rowan gasped as she placed her hands over her mouth, shuddering in terror, “No…..no it can’t be.”

“What is it, Sergeant tell me what’s coming?” Twilight asked, a twinge of fear creeping its way into her voice as she walked over and stood next to him.

He replaced his helmet and polarized his visor, ‘Death Twilight. Death is coming!” He turned and quickly motioned for them to go behind the boulders, “Get to cover. Rowan put her in between those trees, she’ll be safest there.

Twilight tried to argue but was quickly picked up and put in a nook between a small group of trees behind the boulders. “Don’t worry, there’s no place safer then behind a squad of ODSTs.

“Ooorah Corporal!” Lee called as he loaded a fresh mag into his M7.

Moments later, the pods landed a few dozen meters away, across them several energy fields crackled as their occupants stepped out. “Destroy the humans, wipe their petty existence from the galaxy!”

Inside the nook Twilight stared at the back of Rowan's armor, still amazed at the fact that it protected her body while dropping from space. “Have you faced these enemies before?”

The young ODST turned towards the Alicorn and depolorized her helmet, “No I haven’t, all the fighting I’ve done was against other humans or just in training.” She said through a shudder, before turning back to the front, she polorized her helm and loaded a fresh mag into her smg as an ear piercing scream broke her out of the trance she was in.

“Damnit Lou is down, cover me!” The aggressive soldier from before shouted, as he dove from his position to their fallen brother. Dodging several plasma rounds before picking him up into his arms.

“Suppressive fire. Samson move your ass, get out of there!” Lee shouted as he fired several bursts from his M7 into the throat of one of the bird-like soldiers.

Samson began to run back towards the rest of the squad as a glowing blue orb attacked to his arm, he looked over to Lee, “Gunny?….” His voice cracked in fear as the two soldiers disappeared in a blinding flash. Moments later the light dissipated, but nothing remained of the them.

For those that aren't sure who their going up against its the Covenant, we are now in Halo on Reach. Now for everyone wondering what will happen to Twilight, hmm we will see.
