I bring up my phone after it vibrates in my pocket. The message from Steve read "Hey man, wanna play Siege in a bit? Franny and Dan are up for it." A smirk appeared on my face as I replied by saying I would be on shortly. My best friends and I usually talk over games when we're not working or away. Steve, Francisco, Caleb, Dan, Mike, Nathanial and myself. Of course, the game wouldn't allow this large amount of players to play with eachother so we only played with the ones home. Steve, Franny, Caleb and I were the closest of us all, we had played games with eachother for over five years before we all decided to meet up in Steve's hometown in Tennesee. The meeting started kind of awkward but it was the most fun I've ever had. Before we returned to our respected homes we took a group photo and each had them framed to serve as a reminder of the great times shared between us.
As I sat in my small dining room finishing my meal of noodles, all the lights in the house went out. I pulled out my phone and turned on it's flashlight function due to me not knowing where any flashlights were. "Who needs flashlights anyways, phones are all we really need." I tell myself. As I squeeze past my cupboard and island I start heading down the stairs when my light goes out. "What?" I mutter to myself as last time I checked my phone was at just under thirty percent. "I retract my earlier statement, fuck you phone." I angrily set it down at the top step, wanting nothing more than to throw it at a wall. I rest my hand on my railing and continue downwards into the dark basement.the basement included a spare bedroom which I used for storage, a utility room housing the washer, dryer and furnace, a bathroom and a slightly larger room which I used for games and T.V.
As I reach the bottom of the stairs and head towards the utility room and kick the door frame due to the lack of light. "AAGH DAMNIT" I grunt in pain holding my foot and leaning against the very frame that hurt me. Pushing through the pain I walk towards the breaker box and notice that everything looks fine. I wobble back towards the door and try the switch, it doesn't work. I head back towards the box and turn everything off and back on hoping to accomplish something. It doesn't work.
I leave the room careful to avoid the doorframe and start making my way upstairs. As I am nearing the top I step an a warm fuzzy tail that belongs to my cat. I jump backwards and tumble down the stairs as my cat hisses loudly and sprints up the stairs. "ugh" I moan "What is up with today man." I exclaim. Standing up I realize just how much pain I am in. My legs are killing me and I feel a burning sensation in my arm causing constant pain. I slowly crawl my way upstairs past the kitchen and dining room the the living room filled with two chairs a couch and a corner with my instruments alongside the wall. On the left against the wall was a stand filled with MP3 players. On top of the stand is a speaker that I connect my devices to.
Next to the stand was a keyboard given to me by my mom before she passed away a couple of years back. I had thought about naming my keyboard but kept planning on replacing it with a real piano before she passed. She had gotten into an accident involving alcohol and driving. Along with her own life, she brought with her four others. One was her passenger the other was a father with his two sons.I etched all of their names into the piano so I would constantly reminded of the consequences of drinking and driving. Something I would have to worry about if I ever got my own car. I shake the memory from my head not wanting to dwell on the past. Beside the keyboard stands my violin, named Cadance, which brought great joy to me as I remembered trying to learn from my online friend, Francisco. The amount of times he yelled at me for somehow messing up are some of my fondest memories of him. Resting in the right corner is my pride and joy, my child in which I have put many years into perfecting, my cello.
I named her Amaryllis after my mother.
As I continue into the living room I lie on the couch and think about how I accidentally lied to my friends. While my mind was drifting and I almost fell asleep, a set of paws were reaching onto my chest seeing if I was stable enogh to lie on. I slightly rolled to the side causing my mostly black cat to retreat away from the couch but I reached out and grabbed her and placed her on my chest gibing her the attention she has been wanting the entire time. "I'm sorry Luna, I didn't mean to hurt you earlier. It's just. It's just I feel so bored with life. You know?" As I ask the question Luna starts purring as I pet her and scratch her in various places. I place my hand above her head and she raises her head into my hand. "You understand don't you?" I ask my still purring cat. While her body was nearly all black with her chest being white surrounded by a hazel colour. Her face was also not all black as half of her face was the same hazel brown only this time on her face.
A meow is all I get in response as she leaps onto the floor and leaves me. I hear the sound of a glass bowl dragging along the floor signalling that she is nearly out of food but is trying to finish the rest she has. "Oh shoot" I berate myself as I forgot to feed her today. I stand up and yell to my cat "Don't worry Luna, I'm on my way to do your every command." I chuckle to myself thinking about all the times dog owners decide to try and tell me my cat merely uses me. While it is kind of true I like to think that her affection is well worth it.
"YOU WILL ADDRESS ME AS NIGHTMARE MOON NOT LUNA YOU INSIGNIFICANT WELP!"
"AHHH WHAT ARE YOU DOING IN MY HOUSE!?" I yell back only to notice where I expected a person to be was a horse wearing medieval armour.
