Chapters Chapter 1 : Awakening (Prologue)

Throughout the years, Nova has been living under his shell, a little depressed because he can't make any friends here in Canterlot. Their high standards makes it difficult for him to make a friend or a job let alone getting a date. Will there ever be a hope? Or, he must accept his fate? These choices are crucial in life, and even he couldn't decide it back then. This is a story about a lone unicorn, seeking for peace and friendship from the darkness of being rejected by other ponies. Nova is a single male unicorn, with a cerulean body, combed, but a little spiky royal blue mane and tail, with streaks of white and grey, an ice blue eyes, and of course, a three-pointed gray star, with a light and dark blue swirls around it as his cutie mark. Nova currently lives with his parents, Aura Dust, his mother and Dawn Light, his father. He's the only son in the family and didn't have any siblings. They live in a simple two-story house, with the usual "Canterlot-style" architectural around it.
Nova has a pretty simple life, performing various spells, experimenting with other objects, and occasionally, spending most of his time admiring the stars at night at the balcony with his telescope as a hobby. Nova is also quite skillful with his magic skills. He can perform various spells, the usual ones, and also the hard ones, such as transfiguration, shield, and teleportation. The teleportation spell however, is the most hardest to perform, since it requires full concentration and a lot of magic power to perform it. Despite his experience, he can barely perform it.
Of course, on the other hoof, he was never good at his social side, which is kind of shame for somepony skillful like him. Nova is a good at casting spells, but not a very good socialist, with an exception of his parents. Every time he tries to talk to other ponies, he stutters almost constantly and ended up being rejected before he can even say a thing. He tried to get some tips from his parents but, no such luck. This might seem Nova had lost his hope but, he did managed to make a friend...or at least his "colthood friend".
When he was a little colt, his parents decided to sent him to the best place to study magic : Schools For Gifted Unicorns. His parents thinks it was a perfect place to study magic as well as making friends...well, except for that second part. Even as a colt, he always get nervous to talk other ponies during his school time. During free time, he usually spend most of the time for himself doing some simple magic tricks and experimenting it with his toys as his "personal assistant". It might sound silly at the time but, it works for him. Thankfully, with some various lessons from his former teachers, they told him not to give up on life and you must show your true colors in order to make some friends by simply, just being yourself. After some trial and errors, he managed to successfully made a friend. He's a male green unicorn with the same age as his but he's not quite remembers his new friend's name. Unfortunately, at the time, he's already a full-grown adult and had a few weeks before the graduation day took place. His old friend had to move out of town to settle down and start a new life. Talk about a bad timing. Even though he had a poor social skills, Nova is a kind, forgiving, loyal and a grateful pony at heart.
The friendship the he made didn't last very long as he expected. He only wishes him good luck and be safe in the outside world out there. However, Nova is also not a kind a pony to give up, even at worse times. So, he did some little research and found out there's a place called Ponyville. a small place populated by all kinds of friendly ponies there and not too far away from here in Canterlot. Taking this opportunity, he finally decided to move out of the town and settle down there and hopefully he can find somepony to guide him in his problems. But of course, since he stills lives with his parents, he must get his parents' permission first thing in the morning for the benefit of doubt.

Celestia's sun begins rising in the morning, shining through the streets of Canterlot, and finally reaches the window of a small room, which is Nova's room, still sleeping comfortably in his soft single bed with a blue blanket. Shortly after, the alarm clock placed on top of his dresser placed beside his bed, starts to ringing loudly to force him to wake up. He slowly opened his eyes and get out of his bed, still blurred by his vision and quickly rubs his eyes with his hoof and finally snoozes the alarm clock before its getting annoying.
"...Hrmmmngh..." grunted Nova, as he stretches his hooves individually in relief and proceed to tidy up his bed with his magic and continue to his balcony's door and steps out to get some nice cool fresh air in the morning. The birds starts to sing on the nearby tree and the sky's color is golden brown with a hint of yellow and purple. Nothing beats the scenery in the morning.
"Ahh...there is nothing more relaxing than a long glance at the morning scenery in the morning." said Nova to himself.
While Nova were enjoying the the beautiful scenery, his bedroom door were knocked lightly by his mom, Aura.
"Nova sweetie? Are you awake? Breakfast's ready. Are you coming to join us?" asked his mom.
"Uh...yeah, I'm already awake, mom. I'll join you in a minute!" replied Nova with a slightly raised voice to allow his mother to hear him.
"Okay, sweetie, we'll be waiting for you." said his mom, as she trots away from his bedroom's door and proceed to the dining room downstairs.
Not wasting any time, Nova returns from the balcony to his bedroom and proceed to step out of his bedroom and continue to the bathroom located beside his room and starts to take a nice, warm shower. After that, he quickly dries his hair and his whole body and starts brush his teeth as well as comb his hair to his usual hairstyle. He continues to step out of the bathroom and proceed to the dining room downstairs where his parents are waiting for him for breakfast.

Chapter 2 : A Benefit of Doubt
Nova trots slowly down the stairs, making his way through the living room, and finally, arrived at the dining room where his parents are waiting for him. As he enters the room, he saw his dad were sitting beside the round table while reading his today's newspaper while he uses his magic to pick up the food and eating it. His parents quickly notices Nova already arrived at the dining room and his mother greeted.
"Good morning, Nova. The breakfast's ready. Come join us, dear." she said while preparing the food for him.
"Good morning." greeted Nova, as he approaches the round table and sat down the remaining chair and uses his magic to pick up the utensils and start eating. The three enjoyed the meal as usual. However, Nova's face turns slowly from normal to worried as he eating his food. His parents notices it too. Out of curiosity, his dad stops eating and asks.
"Nova, are you okay? You look kind of worried. Is there something on your mind?"
Nova stops eating and let a little sigh and replied.
"...Y-Yeah...I've been thinking about something for a while now."
"Well, what were you thinking about, son?" asked his dad.
"I've...been thinking about moving out of town." said Nova.
Not surprisingly for him, his parents let a loud gasp in shock.
"What? But why? You don't like this town?" asked his mom in curiosity.
"No, no, the place is alright." replied Nova to calm his parents down and continued.
"It's pretty obvious, right? I had a hard time making just one friend around here nor a decent job. Their very
"Well? Any luck?" asked his mom.
"No...but, I did remember I managed to make one friend back when I was studying in the academy." said Nova, while he puts his right hoof below his chin.
"Oh? So who is this friend that you made?" asked his dad.
"To be honest....I didn't remember his name. It's quite a long time ago. But, I do remember he was a green coated unicorn with a dark green mane. He had to move out of town after graduation to start his new life." replied Nova and continues.
"That goodbye inspired me to never lose hope and I must go out there and show my true colors. And that's why I want do the same. To achieve my life goal." said Nova with a little smile and confidence.
"I see. So, where do you want to move in? Is it the Crystal Empire, Baltimare or Manehatten?" his dad guessed.
"Nope. I want to stay in a rather peaceful and more friendly place called Ponyville. I heard it's the best place to make new friends as well as getting decent job unlike here in Canterlot. No offense." said Nova.
"None taken. Well Nova, we're not going to stop you from trying. We'll support you no matter what." said his dad.
"Thanks for understanding, dad." thanked Nova.
"But, Nova? Do you even have enough bits to buy your own place? That's what I concerned about." asked his mom.
Nova knew that his mom would say that. Obviously, if want to start a new life, you must at least have sufficient funds for not only for buying a house, but for other necessities like foods, clothes, furniture and more.
"Of course. I've been saving it since I was a colt." replied Nova.
"Oh? How much did you saved?" asked his mom in curiosity.
"3000 bits. that should be enough." said Nova.
His parents let a loud gasp in shock once they heard their son's unbelievable life savings.
"3000 bits!? How on the Equestria did you get that much money? I mean, I know you've been saving it for a long time but, this is a little hard to believe." his mom questioned.
Nova lets a little chuckle and replied.
"Heheh...Well, let me explain. A day after my graduation, There's a local kindergarten principal who are kind enough to offered me to work as a part-time entertainer for the little foals during recess time. Telling stories, jokes, and even make a puppet show for them. I got paid quite nicely despite my inexperience of entertaining but, the foals are still enjoying it nonetheless. But, like I said, It's pretty tough to get a job around here so, four months later, the principal decided to replace me with more talented entertainer - more specifically, an entertainer with high ranking and reputation. Not that I doing the job miserably but, he did not take interest in me anymore. Nevertheless, I still have already enough bits to settle my own place anyway. I just need to find the perfect time to ask you guys."
"Oh! and, I'm sorry for not telling you about this sooner." Nova apologied.
"So, that's explains it. Well son, I forgive you." his mom forgave him and continues.
"I mean, that's very thoughtful of you for cheering up the little foals." praised his mom.
"Thanks, mom."
"So, How about it, Mom? Dad? Do you let me to move out, now?" asked Nova.
"Of course, son. Your old enough to take care of yourself. And I'm proud of you for your bravery. I'm sure you'll make some friends there." his dad permitted.
Nova jumps in joy in his mind, obviously excited, and said with an excited tone.
"Wow! Thanks, Dad! I promise I won't let you down!"
"I know you won't" said his dad with full trust.
"But..son?" his mom asked.
"If you're going to move out on your own, is that mean you will forget us?" asked in mom in a worried tone, with a sad look on her face but Nova replied with a warm smile.
"Of course not. I promise that I won't forget any of you. I'll send you a letter form time to time so, you know that I'll be okay once I got settled in."
his mom sighed in relief and permitted his son move out.
"Very well. You can move out, son. But, first thing in tomorrow morning, we'll send you to the train station so, you better start preparing for tomorrow."
"Thanks, mom. Thank you for trusting me. I better start preparing now. said Nova as he finishing the meal.
Once they done eating. Nova helps his mother washing some dishes and continue to proceed to go to the shop to buy the things that he need for tomorrow.
Chapter 3 : Journey to the Unknown
~~~~~~The Next Day~~~~~~
Celestia's sun rises once again, shining through the window of room, and shortly after, his alarm clock rings loudly besides his bed.
"Okay...Big day today. Time to pack up my stuff and get myself a new home." He speaks in his mind.
Immediately, his are are opened and quickly uses his right hoof to snooze the clock. Then, he proceed to get up his bed, doing usual morning routine, tidying up the bed, take a shower, and starts to take his light blue saddlebag, with a little white star embedded on it, to pack up his belongings for moving such as spell books, unused toiletries that he bought from the store except his old toothbrush and towel, clothes for special occasions, miscellaneous items and most importantly, his entire life savings that he collected for a long time.
While he busy preparing to leave. his was knock lightly by his mom again.
"Nova? Are you done packing? We're already waiting for you. Are you finished?" asked his mom.
"Just a minute mom! I'll be done in a minute." said nova with a raised tone.
"Okay, sweetie! We'll keep waiting!" said his mom as she proceed to downstairs.
Not wasting any time, he finishes packing his stuff and put on the saddlebag on his back. It was slightly heavy than usual but, he could handle it. Just before he steps out of his room for one last time, he glanced back at his old room.
"Well, goodbye my old room. I have to go now. I'll be missing you." he said in his mind.
After that, he steps out of his bedroom and proceed to the downstairs to the front door where his parents are waiting for him.
Once Nova arrived at the front door, his parents quickly stand up from the couch and his dad opened the front door with magic.
"Hey, son! Are you ready to go?" asked his dad.
"Yeah, I'm ready." said Nova.
"I'm so excited!" Nova said in his mind.
Then, the three steps out of their house one by one, and Nova closes the door with his magic and continue to make their way to the train station. It was quite a journey to the station, narrowing through the busy streets and shops, with a bunch of ponies discussing their usual business and others. In about 10 minutes later, they finally reached the outskirts of the city of Canterlot, where the train station is located. Just before his parents leaves their son at the station. They both hugged him tightly, which in return, Nova accepted the hug.
"Good luck out there, son. You've grown so much!" said his dad,hugging him.
"Just remember that we always remember you. No matter how far you will go." said his mom, hugging him with a watery tears in her eyes.
"Goodbye, Mom and Dad. I'll miss you too." said Nova, finishing the hug.
After that, his parents trots away from the station, leaving Nova on his own. Nova continues to make his way to the entrance of the station, and trots to the ticket counter.
"Here you go, sir. The Friendship Express will arrive at the station soon." said the mare behind the counter, lending the ticket.
"Thanks."
After purchasing the ticket, Nova trots away from the ticket counter. and proceed to the station's platform. Surprisingly, the station isn't as crowded as he thinks, considering the population of this city. Nevertheless, he proceeds to the nearby bench and take a sit on it and put his saddlebag beside him while waiting the train to arrive.
While Nova still waiting for the train, he thoughts himself in his mind.
"Well...this is it, I guess. I hope somepony can help me about my problems there." Nova lets out a small sigh with a worried look on his face.
" You know...I still can't believe I'm doing this, but I have to. For my own good and better life. I'm really excited...but, at the same time, I'm really nervous. I just hope I don't cause any mischief or something..."
~~~~~~10 Minutes Later~~~~~~
While Nova is still sitting on the bench, an announcement coming from the loudspeaker.
"The train will arrive shortly. Please check your belongings for valuables before departing the train." said the male voice.
Shortly after, the train slowly stops at the station's platform and automatically opens the door to let the other ponies to exit the train. Nova finally gets up and put his saddlebag on his back and proceed to the empty train coach and sat down to the furthest top left seat and put his saddlebag beside him.The few other ponies entered the coach and sat them with their friends. Shortly after, the train conductor yells. "All aboard!" to give a signal to the passengers, and the train whistles and closes the doors and slowly departs away from the station.
While on the journey to Ponyville, Nova took a glance at the outskirts of Canterlot.
"Well.. I had to admit. I really miss my old hometown. But, that's okay. I can still visit it again once I got settled in." Nova speaks in his mind.
Then, about a minute later. Nova took out one of his favorite book to past the time, "Advanced Magics For Advanced Unicorns". he mastered only half of its spells in the past, but there are few more that are quite hard for him. Nevertheless, he enjoyed reading it anyway.
~~~~~~20 Minutes Later~~~~~~
Nova is still reading his book, tries to learn and memorize every spells that he read, then the train conductor announced.
"We are arriving Ponyville. please prepare your tickets and check your belongings if you want to leave the train." said the train conductor on the speakerphone.
"Whew.. already? Gee, I must've been reading too much.." said Nova.
"Excuse me, sir. May I please see your ticket, please?" said the conductor, which makes Nova jumped a bit.
"Oh! O-Of course..uh...h-here it it is!" said Nova nervously as he shows the ticket that picked from his bag with his magic.
"Hmm, it seems everything seems to be in order. Okay sir, thank you for your time. And welcome to Ponyville." said the conductor as he trots away to check on the other ponies' tickets.
"Y-your welcome. Thanks.."
"Come on, Nova. Don't stutter too much! You're going to embarrass yourself!" Nova scolded himself in his mind.
Shortly after, the train slowly stops at the station's platform, automatically opens the door to let the ponies out, including Nova, quickly put on his saddlebag and trots out from the train coach with the rest of the ponies. After leaving the train, Nova took a fresh air at the station's platform.
"Ah...It's always so nice to see new places. Well...better get going then." said Nova as he trots outside the train station.
Eventually Nova reaches the outskirts of the town with the sign "Ponyville" written on it. Nova took a glance at the town for the first time.
"Wow..It's so much different than the Canterlot. The buildings, the ponies, the streets and everything!" Nova speaks in his mind.
Nova continues to make his way to the downtown area of the town and ask anypony for directions.

Chapter 4 : Home Sweet Home
As he enters the town, he saw quite a few ponies talking at the local cafes, trotting around, and even little fillies walking besides their parents. Nova continues to look for somepony to ask some directions. Passing the buildings, small cottages and more.
Hmm, the place are quite nice here. But let's get too the mission. Hmm, let'see...let'see.." Nova speaks in his mind while searching.
While he was searching, a little filly asks the young unicorn.
"Excuse me, mister. Are you new here?" asked the filly.
Nova turned around to see who it was. It was a white coated unicorn with a swirly light pink and purple mane with a little three-colored shield and a music note cutie mark.
"Uh, y-yeah..I'm looking for directions. Can I ask you where can I buy my own place?" asked Nova.
"Sure thing! See that big building over there?" said the filly, pointing her hoof at the circular big building.
"That's the the Town Hall. Once you got inside, you should talk to the mayor. Her name is Mayor Mare. She'll take care the rest."
"Oh! Thanks...uh..what's your name?"
"Sweetie Belle. Nice to meet you! What's your name?"
"My name is Nova Bright. N-Nice to meet you too. Well, I better get going. Thanks anyways!" said Nova while he trots away.
"Wait!" sweetie stopped him.
"Hmm?"
"If you'd wish to find a job. Check out the bulletin board at the Town Hall. There's a few jobs available."
"Thanks, Sweetie, I'll look into it." said Nova.
"No problem! I'm a Cutie Mark Crusaders, after all!"
"C-cutie Mark Crusaders?" asked Nova with a confused tone.
"Yeah, I'm a member the the group. There's a three of us. Scootaloo, Applebloom and me. At first, our goal is to get our own cutie marks. But we soon discovered that teamwork is our destiny to help other other ponies and blank flank fillies to get their cutie mark." said Sweetie.
"T-that's amazing. I'll know you will make a great team someday." praised Nova.
"Wow thanks, You're really a nice pony. I'm sure you'll make some new friends here."
"Y-yeah...that's the problem.." said Nova with a worried tone.
"What's the matter?" Sweetie inquired.
"I'm came from Canterlot. I've... been struggling to make friends there. That's why I'm moving here."
"I...see. Well, if you had problems with friendship. There is only one pony can help you."
"Who...exactly?" asked Nova.
"I'm sure you'd heard of her. Her name is Twilight Sparkle. Princess Of Friendship.
"You're right...I've heard of her before. She lives here?" asked Nova.
"Yeah! She lives at the castle over there." said Sweetie, pointing at the strange, out of place, crystal castle."
"Huh..what a strange looking castle. It looks like it belongs to the Crystal Empire, judging the crystal formations." Nova thought in his mind, while putting his right hoof below his chin.
"Well, Sweetie, It's nice talking to you. I better get going, and thanks for the info!" thanked Nova as he trots to the Town Hall.
"You're welcome!"
"Wow..It's my first time a pony helped me. I think I chose the right place." Nova thought in his mind with a smile.
Nova continues to make his way to the Town Hall. But suddenly, a pink earth pony mare with a dark pink mane and balloon cutie mark appears in front of him with a surprise.
"Hi there!" said the pink pony.
"Ahhh!" Nova screamed in shock. "W-who are you?"
"Oh my gosh! Oh my gosh! are you new here?" asked the pink pony.
"...Y-yeah...uh...who exactly are you?" asked Nova.
"I'm Pinkamena Diane Pie. But my friends call me Pinkie Pie!" said Pinkie with a bouncy tone, face-paced tone.
"W-whoa, whoa, slow down! First of all, what do you want from me?"
"I"m always greet any new ponies here. And throw are party for them!"
"So..you throw a party every time you meet a new pony? Sounds like a lot of work."
"Eh, It's not a big deal for me. I'm a Equestria's best party planner!"
"Wow...I've never been on a party before. It's nice though."
"Whaaaat!? You've never been on a party? That's insane!"
"Y-yeah...I've have a hard time making some friends."
"Oh don't worry! I'm sure you're gonna make A LOT of friends here. Maybe I can introduce all my friends at the party this evening."
"Oh..thanks. I'm Nova Bright by the way. Uh..when and where the party held?" asked Nova.
"The party will be held at Sugarcube Corner at five. Don't forget! Woohoo!" Pinkie jumps at joy away from him.
"Huh..she's a little bit crazy, but in a good way. Somehow I feel a little confident to talk to other ponies here." Nova thought himself in his mind while making his way to the Town Hall.
Nova finally reached the Town Hall entrance, trots through the door and proceed to the reception center at the entrance, occupied by a light pink colored earth pony mare behind the counter.
"Uh..excuse me, miss? May I speak to the Mayor Mare please? I looking a place to buy." asked Nova.
"Hmm, you must be new here, I suppose. Very well then, I'll inform the Mayor that you were coming. Please wait here." said the mare while he trots away form her counter to the Mayor's office.
"Okay.."
2 minutes later, the mare returns to her counter.
"The Mayor is ready to speak with you over that room." said the mare while pointing the door.
"Thanks."
Nova trots away from the counter and proceed to enter the Mayor's office for an appointment. The office is quite big with a few bookshelves and a small wooden desk at the center with a pale brown mare with a grey mane and scroll cutie mark.
"Ah, you must be Nova Bright, correct? Please, take a seat." said Mayor.
"Yeah..that's me." Nova sat down on the chair. "Are there any homes available for sale?" asked Nova.
"Of course, our construction team are working hard to expand this town. Currently, there are three houses available: A single story cottage , a two-story house and a three-story mansion." said Mayor as she shows the pictures of the houses to sell.
Nova browses through the pictures, looking at the specifications, land sizes, rooms and many more. Obviously, Nova couldn't buy the mansion nor the two-story house because they were too expensive and Nova don't want to to waste some space.
"I'll...think I take the first one because that's the only house that I could afford." said Nova in agreement.
"A wise decision, sir. the cottage is located just three blocks away from Sugarcube Corner. It has some pretty small land size but there is plenty of space at the backyard that you could grow a garden or something." Mayor suggested.
"So, how much is this cottage cost?" asked Nova.
"Only 2400 bits, sir." answered Mayor.
Phew...good thing I saved up just enough money to buy it." Nova thought.
Nova uses his magic and pull out his sack of bits and give the Mayor just a right amount the money to purchase the house.
"Thank you. I hereby you, Nova the Unicorn, as a new resident at Ponyville. Here are your keys, and enjoy your new house!" said Mayor as she give the key to his new home.
"Thanks!" he puts the key in his bag, trots away from the office and to the exit with an excited look on his face.
Wow...I can't believe it. I actually bought a house! I can't wait to check it out!" Nova speaks in his mind.
Nova continues to make his way to his new home, passing through the Sugarcube Corner, where his party will be held. And finally reaches his destination, just three-blocks away as the Mayor stated. It was a simple, small cottage surrounded by forest and small blue mailbox.
"Ahh..there's my new home. Let's take a look inside, shall we?" Nova suggested in his mind to himself.
Nova uses his magic tho take the key from his bag and unlocks the door for the first time. It appears to be a small living room area with two chairs, with a round coffee table with a mat underneath, facing each other and two doors, which believed to led to a bedroom and the other one is to the bathroom. Pretty simple house with a plus, furniture included. It's not common to see a new house furniture provided.
"Wow...furniture included, that's a little bit...odd, but okay..."said Nova while he explores the other room.
"He slowly opens the bedroom door, revealing a pretty small room, with a small, empty bookcase, a study desk, a single bed with a light purple blanket with a dresser and a alarm clock placed beside it.
"Hmm..not bad, not bad at all. Well, time to unpack, I guess.." said Nova as he placed all his book to the bookshelf, place all of his clothes in the dresser and all his other stuffs there, and finally, place his empty saddle beside his drawer.
Nova stretches his hooves and let out a small sigh. "Well...it's been a long day...maybe i could past the time by reading my books before the party." said Nova as he pick up his book of his choice from the bookshelf and reading it on his bed with prone position.
